Overall, great experience. Definitely recommend this spot if you need to get your clothes tailored but they also do dry cleaning at an affordable price which is always a plus. I wanted to leave a review after finding out that they merged and most of the reviews are pretty negative..which is surprising. A family member recommended this place a couple years back when I lived in NY since the tailor is very good and I've been coming back ever since! I never write reviews, but feel the need to do so here because Jessica, the owner and alteration fitter, is just so fantastic. I don't even try to guess what needs to be done with an ill-fitting garment -- I just take it to her and try it on there, for her perfect eye and expertise. For instance, a sleeveless dress that is too long might need to be hemmed -- or the straps might just need to be shortened. How much shorter a skirt should be -- I leave it up to her because she always turns out to be right. Pants that flare in the wrong place might just need their pockets removed. During covid, when I've been up in the country, I've saved garments that need to be altered for my trips down to the city, do the fitting, and then give her a stamped return envelope to send them back to me -- and that worked perfectly. If I moved downtown I'd still go back up to Washington Heights for her work. read more

I took in a sport jacket and need the sleeves shortened. I pick up the jacket and the top button on one sleeve fell off. The I called the owner and told her what happened she did not reply until I asked if she heard me. Deaf ears then said "OK ,bring it in" PS. The button was already lost. Did I hear , OH, I am so sorry, Do you have the button ? I was told how rude I was ! I told her that i was going to tell all my neighbors which i am and not to use them. I will never bring in anything again. This cost $27. I don't argue the price but my jacket was very expensive and their work was very poor. read more

We have been using this dry cleaner for a long time now. It has been semi satisfactory, since quite often we needed to ask to clean the clothes again since the job was not well done. Recently we ask to clean silk tie and it came back damaged. The threads were pulled in the middle of a tie making it not wearable. The cleaners not only did not admit its fault, saying that this is due to bad material (silk). The man behind the counter started being incredibly rude, and so was the manager who came to tell me that this is not their fault that the tie is not damaged. Not only they did not offer return on a $100 tie, but asked me to pay for the cleaning. If you have any delicate things that need to be dry cleaned don't go to this dry cleaner since they obviously don't know what they are doing. read more

I had a rather complicated and large order after attending a wedding but not only did they follow my instructions to the letter and left my clothes immaculate, they did so in a timely matter as well. These cleaners are awful. I opened a Yelp account just to write this review because people need to know to avoid this place. I tried them since I moved to the neighborhood a couple of months ago but they CONSISTENTLY leave stains on clothing- despite me even specifically mentioning that certain items have stains. And these are simple coffee or watermark stains. When I called this last time to see if I could get a refund, I had barely said two words before the person who answered the phone hung up on me. And that was the first time I decided to complain.They want each customer to rip open the bags in the store and check for stains? That's crazy-- this place doesn't do their job. Very upset about the treatment I received at this dry cleaner. I have been dropping off my work dresses every other week for the past six months and have never had a problem until now. When I picked up my clothes today, there were two one-inch runs in the top of a dress, making it unwearable. I wear the dress every week and I know it was not damaged when I dropped it off. I had actually worn it to an event the night before and got a compliment on it - a compliment which I would not have received had it had two tears down the front. The cleaner claimed they did not tear it, but given the way they toss clothes around when you drop them off, I wouldn't be surprised if it caught on some piece of metal and tore. I got no explanation nor an apology. I would have been completely satisfied had they merely apologized and offered to give me a $20-30 credit. I've lived in NY for eight years and have never once complained about a dry cleaner. I'm not one to make a stink about things. I know stuff happens and occasionally clothes get damaged. But in order to keep your customers, a simple apology and minor compensation would be appreciated. Based only on this experience, I would say VIP Cleaners has very poor customer service and I will not be bringing any clothes back there. read more
