I rarely go to dry cleaners but I was in a bind to get my wedding dresses resized and fitted during COVID 3 weeks that's right 3 weeks before my big day and decided to give my local cleaners a shot and boy am I ever glad I did!!! The owner (whose name escapes me at the moment) was beyond amazing! She was able to size my dress and fit it in just under 2weeks which was great because I ended up loosing a lot of weight and she resized it again for me and had it perfectly ready 4 days before my big day so I didn't have to stress. She was also able to hem my reception dress two days before my wedding all of this cost me less than $200 for a rush job!! I was beyond pleased and eternally grateful for all of your help! If I could give them zero stars, I would. First, I brought a pair of shorts to dry-clean and they hung them with safety pins piercing them through! Now I have four little holes on the waistband. Then they lost the belt of my dress and didn't offer credit nor money back. It was an expensive Zara dress with a matching belt and it disappeared. I am so frustrated and angry!! read more

I had a horrible experience in which a new pair of pants of mine ripped in the back and I flashed half of the Bronx one morning (all I can do is laugh now because I was so humiliated, lmao). So, I obviously went back home and changed, went to work and panicked internally the whole day because I was wondering which tailor was going to repair my pants fast and efficiently. So I came on yelp and started searching locations and 181 Corner Cleaners stood out to me, because it is close to where I live, and my stepmom has used their services before. I called the business to say I was going to drop off my pants and the lady on the phone was super friendly. So I went, dropped off my pants, and asked them if they will be able to have them fixed by tomorrow. The lady who helped me gladly said, "Yes, you can come pick them up tomorrow at 8AM." Hearing those news made me happy and what made me even happier was that it only cost $7 to get them repaired. I returned the next day, and there were my pants. Fixed, and no sign that they ever ripped. I thank these people so much for being able to provide me with excellent service. NOW I know where to come if another emergency like that occurs. :) read more

I have been a customer of Corner Cleaners for a year now, and am really surprised at the negative reviews!! They always come and pick up my gigantic bags of laundry, for free--I used to tip them and they stopped accepting! The have only missed a pick up twice in a year, and always have a good excuse and profuse apologies. I wish they were open a little later or open on Sundays, but hey they need time off too. The people who work there are very sweet--I do miss Joe, their old employee, but their new pickup/drop off guy seems to be learning the ropes well. I have a complicated order--one bag wash and dry, one bag wash and air dry (delicate blouses) and sometimes even some dry cleaning, and they nail it every time. I actually used to go to a different cleaners--Aphrodite--and they stained one of my shirts with a huge black stain throughout, and dyed my white shirt pink! I have never had such a horrendous experience, ever, with Corner Cleaners. I am a satisfied and loyal customer! read more

I've probably been to every cleaners in the neighborhood and Corner Cleaners has become THE place for me. I have both cleaning and laundry done here as well as all sorts of repairs and tailoring. The lovely woman who owns it is unfailingly cheerful and so are the counter attendants. That is no accident. It's good to feel that your business is appreciated. She has made drapes for me, re-worked the neck of a velvet turtleneck, cut down and changed the size and shape of a velvet hat, did a thankless (it was almost impossible to reach) repair on the webbed pocket of a travel bag, as well as normal repairs and tailoring. She's the best! I notice there are some negative reviews from a few years back, when it was owned by an older man. He wasn't pleasant and his work wasn't good either. He died in 2014 and his niece, the current owner, took over. Different owner, different experience. read more

Two things that are important. 1) I left about $14 in my pocket one day and they gave it all back to me. 2) They recently had a car theft and lost a sweater I had given them. The woman behind the counter was really warm, apologetic, and gave me the $60 the sweater cost in cash without hesitation. Very good service all around. I never write Yelp! Reviews, but felt compelled. Definitely my neighborhood spot! Only reason it's not a 5-star review is that the prices aren't he cheapest, but they make up for it in honesty, friendliness, and customer service. read more

I've been using this place for a year, always like their prices and demeanor, and wasn't going to bother with a review until today. I dropped off a whole bunch of laundry over the weekend. A day later I'm 90% sure I left my wedding band in a pants pocket. I half heartedly trek there to explain this possibility, they call their facility to no avail, and I leave thinking "that was a waste, it's just going to end up pawned or who knows where". Worst cleaners ever - please drop the word "cleaner" and replace with permanent stain setters. They did a very "professional" job - permanently setting the stains on my clothes. I dropped off a white jacket and a skirt and pointed out the stains and double checked that they can indeed take it out - spaghetti sauce not set, still pretty fresh stain. and the skirt had some mild mud stain at the very bottom hem. Both items - they assured me they could handle - they even asked for more time so they could do a "better" job. I picked up the garments 2 weeks later - the stains were still there and looked like there was no attempt to get it out - instead it is now permanently set, because they ironed both items in high heat. I had a similar experience wherein I was quoted once price and called 4 days later with the news the price would actually be double ($100 to hem 1 dress) since the job was "so complicated." I posted a great review for this business a little over two months ago, and I was greatly disappointed recently to discover that this business refuses to take responsibility when they lose items. I started giving them my laundry and began noticing missing socks. Due to a health issue, I have to wear boots and so need black boot socks and I was stocked on same. I had roughly 10-12 pairs. The last time I sent my laundry to Corner Cleaners, a very bright green bath mat was missing. I knew I had given it to them. I called and told them it was missing, and only then did they admit that they still had the mat. They said it hadn't been dry when they delivered my laundry so they'd hung it up. I asked why they didn't tell me. No understandable explanation here. My guess is that they didn't know whose mat it was, and when I called they figured it out. I also told them I was missing socks. Surprisingly, I got nothing but arguments from them. I tell them I'm a longtime customer, I've never complained about missing items, and that I wouldn't make it up. We're talking YEARS here, at least 5-7! I suggest to them that they ought to replace the items and it would cost about $20, and they simply refused to take responsibility. I asked them whether or not they valued a longtime relationship with a customer and again, nothing but a shrug of the shoulders. I was rather surprised. But I guess it's IMPOSSIBLE for this business to admit to making a mistake or they're, what, superhuman and know where everyone's laundry goes and can't possibly put someone's socks in the wrong bag? If they tell it's impossible to lose items, how is that so? Who doesn't lose things sometimes? Particularly dry cleaners!!!??? It actually hurt my feelings. I'm a rather sensitive soul. Here I had dealt wiith these people for years of my life, and they lose my socks and they could care less. I'll be trying another business. I'm glad this only happened with my socks. Imagine if they had lost one of my leather jackets! I guess that would have been impossible too and I would have been out hundreds of dollars. Shame on you, Corner Cleaners. read more

I do wash n fold service and have tried 4 different cleaners in the neighborhood. Corner Cleaners in Washington Heights is my favorite by far. First my socks do not come home with holes in the bottom, second they are on time when they say something will be done and third the owner is so joyful when dealing with you. It doesn't hurt that many times she has given my 5 year old a treat when she joins me on pickups. They charge 10 cents more a pound than some others in the hood but the cost of replacing socks regularly makes up for the easily. Big thumbs up for Corner Cleaners read more

This place leaves your clothes DIRTY. The last time I went to pick up was in April, and when I got home and inspected my clothes they were smelling like stinky feet. Prob something with what detergents they use. You will figure that since I am a long time customer that lives in the neighborhood the service would be very professional and meticulous. Hello everybody, please let me share my experience with this dry cleaning company, or should I write - surreal , horrible and totally unprofessional. I brought my jacket and sweater on We to be picked up on Fri night at 6pm, the front desk lady started to back up and saying it was not ready even after I presented the ticket to her, she became very angry and insulted me. I was shocked and asked her why is she treating her customers like that? Her respond was "You are nobody to me and you are lying .." What ??? Lying about what ??? When her husband finally appeared and brought my clough he started to insult me by saying "What do you want?? YOU ARE NOT A QUEEN, KING OR A LAWYER , YOU JUST A F..NG CUSTOMER AND YOU NOBODY TO ME I DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOU " I was speechless at that moment my husband was on a phone at that moment with me. Needless to say I WILL NEVER USE THAT DRYC LEANING AGAIN OR RECOMEND IT TO ANYBODY I KNOW. I said it to dry cleaning owners , who obviously did not care at all ( I wonder now if male owner have been under influence of some kind ) The only question left for me know.. should I press legal and ethical issues against dry cleaning owners ? Because it is surreal to hear from the customer service that you just are f..ng customer... By any means please avoid this dry cleaning.
