I chose what I thought was a simple dress... I wanted something minimal-but-distinctive that I could wear both for my wedding and the reception. But the waist was too small and the bodice too big, and the dress had to be taken apart and put back together again to fit me. Maria, Mariaaaa . Where do I even start. I found her here on Yelp and so blessed to have done so! She is an actually gem and lifesaver as I only had 2 months to get my alterations done. She worked on not just one but two dresses for me. She was kind, communicative and extremely flexible. On top of that both of my dresses fit like a glove and I received so many compliments. I would recommend Maria over and over again!

Maria did an absolutely amazing job on my wedding dress alterations! I bought my dress as a sample, and while it was beautiful, it didn't quite fit my body the way I wanted. Maria worked her magic and somehow made the dress look even better than when I first bought it. The fit is now perfect, it hugs my body like it was custom made just for me. She paid attention to every little detail and made sure everything looked flawless. I was honestly so impressed with how well the dress turned out. On top of that, her prices were very reasonable compared to many other alteration places that charge an arm and a leg for wedding dresses. Maria is the best. Not only the is she the sweetest person (and really fun) she's incredibly talented. She turned my mother's yellow wedding dress back to the white (it was crumpled and discolored) and she remade it for me to wear. She is a magician, adding a corset and showing you the vision before you know it yourself. Hopefully this is my only wedding, but if I ever have another wedding dress I'm coming back to my girl, Maria! Truly the best, she hemmed, restored it, took it in, and added structure to my mom's old 1990s dress.

I ordered my dress online from Azazie and although I instantly knew it was the one, there were several structural changes I wanted to make to ensure it was perfect. Maria's craftsmanship is exceptional and she is truly a sweet person. The staff at the Azazie Bridal Store recommended Maris and I went to see her about a month before my wedding. I'm so grateful I found Maria for my alterations! From our first meeting, I could feel her passion for the work, which was important to me. She comes with vision because of her designer background but also because she truly wants you to feel and look your best on your big day. Her suggestion to add a lace trim to my bodice ended up being the perfect addition to my dress, and I can't thank her enough for that. Her energy and humor also made every conversation during every fitting so enjoyable. I had a semi-tight timeline because I started the process kind of late (so, my fault), AND I was flying out for my wedding, but she was so understanding and kept that timeline in mind the entire time. Based on my experience, the one specific change I clearly asked for on my dress was not done, which was disappointing, especially since it was the main reason I went to her in the first place. I was also misled by the glowing reviews, which set expectations that were not met in my case. I met with her at her home, which made the process feel less formal, and in hindsight, I strongly suggest getting every single detail in writing before moving forward. Assumptions and verbal agreements did not translate into the final result. Unfortunately, the dress didn't fit well, and it shows in photos. That's something you can't really fix after the fact, and it took away from what should have been a special moment. I honestly wish I could turn back time, I would have gone elsewhere. Overall, I left the experience frustrated and wishing I had set clearer, documented expectations upfront. read more

A gem of a seamstress! Really she's an artist! I came in June with my wedding dress, and by the third week of July, it was transformed before my August wedding. This was the least professional and most stressful experience of wedding planning. Maria always had another reason to postpone appointments at the last minute. At one point, she told me she lost contact with the seamstress who was working on the dress and didn't know how much of it was complete. I wasn't even aware someone else had it. She delayed our first follow up appointment by several weeks and when we finally met up again she just re-measured the dress, no work had been done. I should have taken back the dress then and cut my losses. At the third and final appointment, the dress was supposed to be done but nothing was completed. She hemmed it but the horsehair was uneven, the wrong length, and the wrong color for the dress. The sleeves were incomplete and not attached. The corset was a mess: there was a flimsy waistband that wasn't attached, it didn't fit at all, and the boning was bent. The bustle was just long string that did not match the style of the dress and was insufficient for its weight. She acted surprised that I was so unsatisfied with how much still needed to be done and, less than three weeks from my wedding after holding on to this dress for months, said that she couldn't get to it for another two weeks because she was still working on dresses that were getting married that weekend. Good luck to those girls. Two days of no sleep after that, I messaged her with the list of to dos and asked her if she could really do all of it within the timeframe and lo and behold, actually she injured her hand right after we last met and knew for two whole days that she'd not be able to work on it at all and maybe wouldn't have said anything at all until it was too late. I got my dress back the next morning. The kindest thing I will say is that she did refer me to a very competent tailor who fixed and did everything in record time and did eventually return the full price. read more

Maria was very detailed and did a great job understanding the alterations I needed for my off the rack dress in a short time period. She ran late to 2 of my appointments (notified me an hour before) and also double booked me for my final fitting 2 days before international flight for my wedding. She asked me to move my 10:30 am appointment to 3:00 pm. Which I could not accommodate as had other appointments to make that day. We settled on an alternate time but come to find that she didn't end up having appointments that morning and I could have met sooner. It was a nerve wracking experience not knowing how much of the alterations would be complete by each appointment as I was told certain things would be complete for each fitting and they were not. And honestly with the stress of planning an international wedding while living a busy life it added a layer of stress I didn't need. I picked up my gown for my 4th appointment 2 days before my flight. You'll need to pay for all of your quoted alterations during your first appointment up front so be prepared for that. I was urged to write my review while I was in the suite before I could leave with my dress as she needed a few minutes to "fix a button" and then she sent me the attached photo to upload with my review. Honestly at the end I just wanted to leave with my dress I paid over $1500 for alterations for so I made a quick review and this is the updated version. She is very skilled and experienced in her work as I work in fashion product development with technical design/alterations being a huge part of my career.Overall I would not recommend her if you want super clear communication and punctuality despite the great result at the very last minute. read more

I was guided to an upstairs hallway with loose organization, was told I could only pick several dresses, and then I only had 30min in a dressing room (I still had a attentive shared staff member to help me get into things). This all worked out totally fine for me, and is a pretty normal sample sale experience in LA, but you should know this going into it! I am an experienced sample sale girlie, but it was also my very first wedding dress place, so the item and time limit made me sweat, especially not yet knowing exactly what I wanted. I tried on three dresses, loved two, and bought my wedding dress here - yes, the first place I went - and ADORED it. 10/10 would do it again. The staff member helping me was awesome - she split her time well, and was a hype woman without being pushy or fake. They wrapped up the dress just as nicely as it I'd bought it full price, and even asked if I wanted to take a "said yes to the dress" photo. It needed a little work - the straps were dirty and loosely seen in some places, an aglet was missing, and the lace needed a steam badly. Overall, however, extremely worth it! I wish I could say the experience held up, but it hasn't. At my dress fitting, I discovered sleeves on my dress that I was never told about or agreed to. They weren't even written in my notes, so there was no record of the changes that were actually promised to me. Things I was told would be included just weren't there. At this point, the dress isn't what I said yes to, and honestly I'm not sure I'll even wear it. On top of that, my pick-up appointment was scheduled for a day they were closed. I drove in from Orange County only to find out when I got there. I've since tried multiple times to schedule a new appointment through text, including messages that were never answered at all. I really wanted this to be the happy ending my first review described, but between the undocumented changes to my dress and the communication breakdown since, I can't recommend this experience the way I did before.

Instead of being welcomed, the front desk staff laughed, and one of them asked, "What are you doing here?" I replied, "I have an appointment," and they all laughed again. Looking back, I should have walked out then, but I decided to give them a chance. I was told I had to wait because no one was available to help me, even though there were four staff members standing at the front. I was told to look through the racks for dresses while I waited. Since it was my first time shopping for a wedding dress, I didn't know the process. Later, I noticed signs everywhere saying not to walk through the aisles, so my mom and I stood to the side and waited. After about 20 minutes, someone finally came to help us. She immediately asked which dresses I wanted to try on. I explained that I had no idea because this was my first bridal appointment and I was hoping for some guidance. She seemed visibly annoyed. She pulled a few dresses, and one of them was absolutely beautiful--I genuinely loved it. However, the overall attitude made me uncomfortable. At one point, she told me the dress was around $5,000 and then asked, "Can you afford it?" I replied, "Yes, I can." After that, I noticed other staff members gathering around and suddenly walking by to compliment how beautiful the dress looked on me. It felt very insincere. Even though I loved the dress, I decided not to purchase it. Buying a wedding dress is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and I didn't feel confident moving forward with a boutique where I felt unwelcome and judged. I politely ended my appointment and left. As I was walking out, I heard one of the employees say, "I told you they weren't going to buy it." That confirmed I had made the right decision. Thankfully, I found my dream dress at a wonderful bridal boutique in Costa Mesa, where I was treated with kindness, respect, and genuine excitement. The difference in customer service was night and day. Every bride deserves to feel welcomed, supported, and celebrated. Unfortunately, that was not my experience here.

The end product was satisfactory, but not without several mistakes and unnecessary stress. Be prepared to be on TOP of the associates as the communication is nonexistent otherwise. While Angel was lovely, her sales associates need training. I wish I could have corresponded with Angel directly, as her associates seemed to not know what was going on/did not communicate. On 8/31/24, I said yes to the dress after having exhausted 6-7 bridal shops in Phoenix. I finally felt a sense of relief. I paid in FULL that day. I signed the paperwork for my dress to be ready in March 2025, two months before my wedding. The next steps were for Yesenia to send a sketch of my dress based on the designs I wanted, within a few weeks. I waited several weeks and when I didn't get anything, I reached out to Enoch (who is no longer with them). He assured me he would get on Yesenia to send the sketch. I didn't get A sketch until 11/20/24, nearly 3 months after I had already paid for my dress, and it wasn't even a sketch of my dress! I didn't get a sketch of MY dress until 11/25/24 and it looked like something she drew in 5 minutes. Very anticlimactic. After A LOT of back and forth on the finer details, I asked if the dress was ready to START production on 12/5/24. I received no response. I sent another email on 12/9/24, no response. I finally booked a flight to LA and SHOWED UP IN PERSON on 12/14 and Yesenia looked surprised to see me. She stated that she had responded production had already started on my dress, and she had sent an email but it must not have gone through. OKAY. I started emailing her again in February asking about the status of my dress: 2/3, 2/15, 2/22, 3/1. 3/1 Yesenia stated she would send me photos of my dress and book my first fitting. She never did send me photos of my dress. I had my first fitting on 3/16/25. I was expecting for all my fittings and the dress to be finalized by this point, but I was just happy there was a dress at all. The leg slit I had asked to be on the right side, was on the left side instead. Because of the way the dress was designed, it could not easily be fixed. They did not apologize for the error at any point. They did offer to REMAKE the dress, however, with my wedding less than 2 months away (5/8/25) and the TERRIBLE communication, I did not want to take that stress or risk. I had also asked for pearl buttons on the overskirt but received satin buttons. Yesenia replied that production had responded on 2/24 (to her) that pearls cost extra; at no point had she communicated this to me. She stated she would have them swapped out for the pearl buttons. On 3/27/25, I sent all the photos of the details I wanted for my veil to Yesenia. Admittedly, there were a lot of details- I wanted a cathedral veil, scallop trim with beaded edge, and for our names and the date to be embroidered. Knowing my wedding date, and that I had to leave the COUNTRY at the beginning of May, Yesenia could have prefaced that all these details would take a month+ to make- but she never stated any sort of time frame. In April, I asked if the original alterations were completed on my dress. Lots of unanswered texts. I had my 2nd fitting on 4/26, the WEEKEND before I was leaving the COUNTRY for my wedding. Luckily the dress came together, even though the leg slit was wrong. The veil was not ready for me to take home that day. Yesenia stated she could have it shipped for $8 or next day shipping for $33. I stated that I would not be paying for shipping over text, and I reiterated this again during the 2nd fitting. She agreed to wave the cost. The veil shipped on 4/28 and I received it on 4/30, a mere 3 days before leaving the country. Luckily the veil was beautiful, albeit the embroidery was smaller than I expected- but everything was spelled correctly (a point I reiterated multiple times via text). At the end of the day, everything turned out OKAY but it certainly was unnecessarily stressful and unenjoyable. I didn't have the dress of my dreams (because of the leg slit on the wrong side- and I didn't utilize the leg slit on the left side) which is crushing when you're promised it and PAYING for it. I don't recommend Lucky Brides for your peace of mind.

She was very professional, kind, and knowledgeable. The appointment lasted one hour. Remember to ask your stylist to measure you! I was going to get measured, but decided to retry on a dress and totally forgot. The dresses are very good quality at an affordable price! I am so glad there is a showroom and feel much better about ordering my dress online now!

I was extremely stressed out about 10 days before my wedding not having a dress.
