I chose what I thought was a simple dress... I wanted something minimal-but-distinctive that I could wear both for my wedding and the reception. Maria, Mariaaaa . Where do I even start. I found her here on Yelp and so blessed to have done so! She is an actually gem and lifesaver as I only had 2 months to get my alterations done. She worked on not just one but two dresses for me. She was kind, communicative and extremely flexible. On top of that both of my dresses fit like a glove and I received so many compliments. I would recommend Maria over and over again!

Maria did an absolutely amazing job on my wedding dress alterations! I bought my dress as a sample, and while it was beautiful, it didn't quite fit my body the way I wanted. Maria worked her magic and somehow made the dress look even better than when I first bought it. The fit is now perfect, it hugs my body like it was custom made just for me. She paid attention to every little detail and made sure everything looked flawless. I was honestly so impressed with how well the dress turned out. On top of that, her prices were very reasonable compared to many other alteration places that charge an arm and a leg for wedding dresses. Maria is the best. Not only the is she the sweetest person (and really fun) she's incredibly talented. She turned my mother's yellow wedding dress back to the white (it was crumpled and discolored) and she remade it for me to wear. She is a magician, adding a corset and showing you the vision before you know it yourself. Hopefully this is my only wedding, but if I ever have another wedding dress I'm coming back to my girl, Maria! Truly the best, she hemmed, restored it, took it in, and added structure to my mom's old 1990s dress.

I ordered my dress online from Azazie and although I instantly knew it was the one, there were several structural changes I wanted to make to ensure it was perfect. Maria's craftsmanship is exceptional and she is truly a sweet person. The staff at the Azazie Bridal Store recommended Maris and I went to see her about a month before my wedding. Despite the short turnaround time, she was incredibly accommodating. We had two fittings at her Beverly Hills suite and a final fitting at her home. I'm so grateful I found Maria for my alterations! From our first meeting, I could feel her passion for the work, which was important to me. She comes with vision because of her designer background but also because she truly wants you to feel and look your best on your big day. Her suggestion to add a lace trim to my bodice ended up being the perfect addition to my dress, and I can't thank her enough for that. Her energy and humor also made every conversation during every fitting so enjoyable. I had a semi-tight timeline because I started the process kind of late (so, my fault), AND I was flying out for my wedding, but she was so understanding and kept that timeline in mind the entire time. Based on my experience, the one specific change I clearly asked for on my dress was not done, which was disappointing, especially since it was the main reason I went to her in the first place. I was also misled by the glowing reviews, which set expectations that were not met in my case. I met with her at her home, which made the process feel less formal, and in hindsight, I strongly suggest getting every single detail in writing before moving forward. Assumptions and verbal agreements did not translate into the final result. Unfortunately, the dress didn't fit well, and it shows in photos. That's something you can't really fix after the fact, and it took away from what should have been a special moment. I honestly wish I could turn back time, I would have gone elsewhere. Overall, I left the experience frustrated and wishing I had set clearer, documented expectations upfront. read more

A gem of a seamstress! Really she's an artist! I came in June with my wedding dress, and by the third week of July, it was transformed before my August wedding. This was the least professional and most stressful experience of wedding planning. Maria always had another reason to postpone appointments at the last minute. At one point, she told me she lost contact with the seamstress who was working on the dress and didn't know how much of it was complete. I wasn't even aware someone else had it. She delayed our first follow up appointment by several weeks and when we finally met up again she just re-measured the dress, no work had been done. I should have taken back the dress then and cut my losses. At the third and final appointment, the dress was supposed to be done but nothing was completed. She hemmed it but the horsehair was uneven, the wrong length, and the wrong color for the dress. The sleeves were incomplete and not attached. The corset was a mess: there was a flimsy waistband that wasn't attached, it didn't fit at all, and the boning was bent. The bustle was just long string that did not match the style of the dress and was insufficient for its weight. She acted surprised that I was so unsatisfied with how much still needed to be done and, less than three weeks from my wedding after holding on to this dress for months, said that she couldn't get to it for another two weeks because she was still working on dresses that were getting married that weekend. Good luck to those girls. Two days of no sleep after that, I messaged her with the list of to dos and asked her if she could really do all of it within the timeframe and lo and behold, actually she injured her hand right after we last met and knew for two whole days that she'd not be able to work on it at all and maybe wouldn't have said anything at all until it was too late. I got my dress back the next morning. The kindest thing I will say is that she did refer me to a very competent tailor who fixed and did everything in record time and did eventually return the full price. read more

Maria was very detailed and did a great job understanding the alterations I needed for my off the rack dress in a short time period. She ran late to 2 of my appointments (notified me an hour before) and also double booked me for my final fitting 2 days before international flight for my wedding. She asked me to move my 10:30 am appointment to 3:00 pm. Which I could not accommodate as had other appointments to make that day. We settled on an alternate time but come to find that she didn't end up having appointments that morning and I could have met sooner. It was a nerve wracking experience not knowing how much of the alterations would be complete by each appointment as I was told certain things would be complete for each fitting and they were not. And honestly with the stress of planning an international wedding while living a busy life it added a layer of stress I didn't need. I picked up my gown for my 4th appointment 2 days before my flight. You'll need to pay for all of your quoted alterations during your first appointment up front so be prepared for that. I was urged to write my review while I was in the suite before I could leave with my dress as she needed a few minutes to "fix a button" and then she sent me the attached photo to upload with my review. Honestly at the end I just wanted to leave with my dress I paid over $1500 for alterations for so I made a quick review and this is the updated version. She is very skilled and experienced in her work as I work in fashion product development with technical design/alterations being a huge part of my career.Overall I would not recommend her if you want super clear communication and punctuality despite the great result at the very last minute. read more

I started seeing him back in 2003 & every single piece of clothing I've brought to him has been done to perfection. I'm not tall, so I often need to hem my pants, or shorten my sleeves on blazers or jackets. Something I never had done before was taking the hem of designer jeans & reattaching them after shortening the legs so they would look unaltered. I've always had to lose out on keeping that cool look of the bottom of a pant leg because I'm not tall & need them shortened, so I was thrilled at the prospect of being able to keep that cool worn original look I paid so much for. Art is so talented, you really couldn't tell that my jeans were hemmed at all, they looked the same as when I purchased them. He's very reasonable in cost & his work is worth every penny. I drove past the old Charleville Blvd. location where I started coming in & was scared for a moment thinking he was no longer open, but I was SOOOO happy to see he only moved locations & is now on Camden Drive- still in my first LA hometown of Beverly Hills yay! Please save yourself the headache and trouble and do not go to Century City Tailor by Bello. My grandpa recently passed and we came here to alter his forever suit that he can wear. The suit required a lot of alterations and we needed it quickly so we chose this store because it was one of the few that had a quick turnaround time. The prices here are very very high, however, we were open to paying it considering the situation, but the lady helping us told us that she would talk to her manager about a discount because of the amount of work being done and that it was pretty much guaranteed but they didn't know how much it would be. We asked that they give us a call in the evening to confirm all measurements and to confirm pricing and they agreed and also said they would not start any of the work until that call. We never received a call, so we called the next day to confirm pricing and measurements. We had an update to measurements at this point so we wanted to make sure that they used the new ones. When we called, we spoke to who we believe is the owner, who told us no updates can be made because he already cut the jacket, which was upsetting on its own because we verbally agreed that no work would be started until they called us (which they never did). We then asked him to not touch anything else because we also gave him a shirt and pants and asked for a discount because he would no longer be working on that, which he then changed the story and said that he cut everything and no discount would be given. We got the vibe that he changed the story because he wanted to charge us full price still and we went back and forth on this, but instead of any attempts of compromising or making things right, he said multiple times "I don't have time to talk to you, I have other customers. Just pick up your suit as is tomorrow and I'm not giving a discount, I can't do anything to help you." We were shocked by the lack of professionalism, customer service, and sympathy given the situation because we said what this suit is for. Alongside the poor service on the phone, when my sister and cousin did pick up the suit, they were extremely disappointed by the quality of work done and we actually had to get a completely new suit because the one they worked on became unusable with extreme fraying everywhere. They brought this up, however, the owner did not take accountability for this and said the suit was already like that (which is untrue because it was a new suit with tags intact that we brought to him). When asked to speak to the manager, he continued to make excuses and say he was just a worker there and that they were going to get him fired and said that he didn't have the owners number and that he did not know when the owner would come in--he later shared his name is Javier, who is in fact the owner. Whenever asked for contact information for anyone, he continuously lied and made different excuses. At points, I was told he refused to give the suit that we already paid for and that he had security called on my sister and cousin because they were causing "trouble" for demanding the product that they rightfully paid for and belongs to us and threatened to sue with zero legal basis. Overall, I would not return here and I would not recommend this business at all. This may have been the worst customer experience I've experienced in my life. Javier is extremely unprofessional and does not run his business with integrity. I checked out his reviews for his second location in Santa Monica and noticed that he responds to all negative reviews claiming that they are "discrediting his business" and "misleading" instead of being accountable and trying to make things right and improve his business, which I'm assuming he will try to do again with this review which continues to highlight his character.

I proceeded to the door with my jacket in my hands, not knowing what to make of what just occurred. Fast forward a few weeks, I'm in Nordstroms, a fairly decent retail clothing store. They have house seamstresses, who I asked if they put zippers in jackets and how much that would be. The seamstress replied, "$40". So, seems like the New Antoine's "respects" it's tailors 6x than Nordstroms, who must be mistreating them and keeping them labouring in their Nordstroms sweatshop with no food or breaks. So, I decided to not be a part of it and left. Furthermore, the next time I take my car and the mechanic wants to charge me 6x the going rate, it will be because he must be respecting his workers, not trying to rip me off and send a good client away and eventually go out of business because of insulting long time clients for asking outrageous and unreasonable prices

I cannot say enough good things about Maria - I am so grateful for her. In short, I bought this beautiful wedding dress that another seamstress botched. I was extremely stressed out about 10 days before my wedding not having a dress. My bridal shop introduced me to Maria and she somehow managed to completely fix my dress and undo what the prior seamstress had done.
