I owe so much to Miss Loyce! I had a relatively inexpensive dress that she worked her magic on to turn into the perfect dress for my beach wedding in Mexico. Phew, I finally have the space to write this review. Do not take your dress here unless you are a BHLDN bride I'd say. I think she focuses on those brides since she is a preferred vendor and that's automatic business. I was optimistic here, and really didn't want to write this review, but hoping it helps other brides make key decisions for their big day and alleviate any possible stressors. I'm really surprised at how many positive reviews there are on here and the service I received. I took my dress to Miss Loyce 10 months in advance of my wedding and was so excited to get in with her as a 2023 bride. I bought my dress preowned and there were minimal alterations needed. After 3 fittings, nothing had been done to my dress. Miss loyce was constantly late or rescheduled my appointments, told me the work would be done at the next appointment, etc. I will say I really liked her at first, all of the other reviews are correct that she is friendly and very honest and real. Throughout this whole process, I was extremely polite and patient, listening to her vent about bridezillas she had in the past and very carefully choosing my reactions and words as to not be considered a bridezilla. 10 days, I'm not kidding, 10 days before my wedding, I came in my for final fitting and NOTHING had been done since what we discussed back 10 months ago. Truly all we needed were straps and those were x stitched on and popped off as I was trying the dress on. She blamed me and said it was a misunderstanding and that I was being a frantic bride. She also told me "I really thought you'd be a Loho bride, those dresses are so stylish and classy - this dress doesn't seem like you", again 10 days before my wedding (cue panic, stress and tears later after feeling like my dress was the wrong choice or ugly). I ended up needing to pick up the dress a few days later due to an emergency and she still had not done any work, now 1 week before my wedding. I took it to a family friend who beautifully made the alterations and commented on how miss Loyce's suggested way of doing alterations were all massively cutting corners and going to look bad, or possibly open the dress, come wedding day. Finally, she (very pushily) sold me a very expensive veil that was true white when my dress ivory, and it made my dress look dirty in comparison (bc of the color difference). I was able to return it to her, but you'd think someone with this much experience would recommend a proper pairing and not push the wrong color product on me. read more

Back in March at the start of Covid, I made the mistake of buying my $600 dress on Etsy. I was not at all happy with the dress, but I had no idea why. I reached out to Mrs. Loyce and she was able to pinpoint exactly what was wrong with my dress and gave me a walkthrough for how she would adjust it over the phone. I gave her my budget which she agreed to work with. I came in a total of 5 times and each meeting was such a pleasure. She was such a joy to work with and continued to inspire me for my wedding day. I truly looked forward to coming into her office because of her warmth and passion. Each time I came in both of us always wore a mask and respected Covid protocols which made me feel safe. This is seriously long over due. But LOYCE IS AMAZING!!! if you get the chance to work with her I would take the opportunity. She made all of my wedding dress dreams come true. I had a vision for my dress and couldn't find anything out there that fit my budget: I wanted a deep neckline with an A-line fit and floral/lace appliqué. I felt that a lot of the dresses that had the neckline I liked were all too tight. So I bought an A-line dress in a fabric Liked and Loyce completely transformed it: she cut the bodice to create a plunging neckline, helped me pick out lace, added more appliqués and created an illusion neckline with mesh. Furthermore, I lost 30 lbs between purchasing the dress and my wedding and Loyce tailored that thing like a glove! I didn't even need bust support on my wedding day because the dress was that well tailored. My only suggestion is that you plan well in advance. She is BUSY! I had a lot of leeway in my wedding planning so I had to reschedule fittings a few times for other brides who were in a time crunch. So plan ahead!! It's so worth it. I can not recommend Loyce enough, especially for custom dresses!!! Her personality, flexibility, guidance, and advice made this experience so memorable. I had the base of my dress made in Vietnam and Loyce then added all the lace and made the exact dress I wanted. The best part is that 90% of it was handsewn! From the beginning, Loyce met me at MOOD Fabrics to help me choose the lace for my dress. Her expert eye and knowledge of fabrics pointed me in the direction of the exact look I wanted. After buying the lace, we went to her dress shop and Loyce began to drape the lace over the base and at that moment I knew that the look for the dress was going to be different because of the way she draped the lace was soooo beautiful. Originally I wanted to go with a dress that had a small train and not as bridal but how she draped the lace, changed the back of the dress. I ended up going with a longer train and an even longer veil than I had originally wanted thanks to Loyce and I'm so happy I did. Loyce custom made the veil by taking lace and adding it to the edges. I chose a beautiful Pnina Tornai gown from her Love collection at Kleinfeld's in December of 2018. I thought with my rush order I was receiving in March of April, about the time I started reaching out to Loyce. From the beginning she was kind and professional, making sure she knew all my details and making sure through photos she wasn't promising anything she couldn't do (as if that sort of thing exists!). Fast forward through a lot of headache and tears later and we're early June, the month of my wedding, and I had just received the dress. Through endless mishap after endless mishap Kleinfeld's kept putting me on the back burner and I waited and waited. Finally I got the dress and alas, as you can sort of see in the first photo, the top didn't even come CLOSE to fitting. It hung off my body, it was too long, and I had no time till the wedding. I was certain no seamstress would take me and was resigned to thinking of buying something off the rack, but Loyce squeezed me in and then worked absolute magic. Loyce never once made me feel like a rush client. She was patient, she was thorough, and she made sure every inch of fabric fit like a dream. She worked against a poorly put together gown from the original makers and managed to somehow turn it all around. Mrs. Loyce is a godsend! She provided expert alterations for not only one, but two of my wedding dresses. I said yes to my ceremony dress at Kleinfeld Bridal in New York. I knew traveling back and forth to the east coast for fittings was not a realistic option, so I reluctantly decided to ship the dress to my home address in LA for alterations. Although I bought the dress a full year before my wedding date, it did not ship to California until 4 months before my wedding date. My reception dress was an Ines Di Santo couture purchased during a sample sale from a local store that would not allow in store alterations for their sample sale gowns. The dress fit well enough for me to buy it with a significant discount, but it would need a LOT of alteration work to comfortably get it where I wanted it for my wedding day. Here I was with two designer brands needing to find a seamstress to handle both alterations in under 3 months. After reading many online reviews and getting word of mouth recommendations from friends, I contacted a few different local companies for virtual and in person consultations. I felt an instant connection after meeting with Mrs. Loyce and all of my worries were put at ease. We had 3 separate fittings and each of our interactions felt very personal. I knew I had all of her attention unlike other salons I visited who were charging much much more. She was very knowledgable about how to tailor both dresses to best fit my body shape and I knew I could trust my gowns in her care. She added a bustle to my ceremony dress so that I could actually move around during my cocktail hour and first dance. On the sample gown, she added cups to the bust area, reconstructed the sleeve lining so that I could actually lift my arms and have the skirt sit higher on my hips, and strategically stitched the tulle together on the asymmetrical skirt so that the gathering was always in the right position for photos! She starts three months out from your date, works with your schedule to create all the fitting dates, and guides you throughout the whole process providing different options and suggestions on how to make it THE dress. I went to Grace Bridal Couture in hopes that Loyce could turn my $15 find into a Berta inspired gown. When I initially got the dress it was just an outer shell of lace. What this amazing woman created was nothing short of miraculous! I shared my vision for the dress with her and together we collaborated to make the dress I was dreaming of/could never afford. Eventually I bought a duplicate to add a train and scalloped edge for the back of my dress. What Loyce really did for me as a bride on a budget was give me lower cost options and the freedom to pick every detail of my dress down to the buttons. Tips I would give to new brides are as follows: -Make sure to book in advance at least a year ahead to make sure you get on her schedule. She's a very busy woman and has people fly in to work with her. Make sure you keep this in mind when booking appointments with her. -Know what you want ahead of time and be clear and concise about the details. -Don't be afraid to speak your mind. Loyce is very honest and will share her opinion with you but if there's something you truly want make sure to tell her. -Lastly, make sure you discuss your budget with her. Loyce and her assistant miss Linda worked with me every step of the way to make sure I was happy with the final product. She is very understanding and offers words of wisdom and kindness. She even pushed back my dress pickup date to accommodate me. My husband and I had the most amazing talks with her, ranging from practical wedding advice to keeping me calm and focusing on the big picture. Dress fittings were in a word magical...I kid you not at one point there were puppies there!! The only thing I regret is that it had to end. What can be said about Loyce that hasn't already been said? She's AMAZING! Even though I had a custom dress, she made it even more beautiful. Upon receiving my dress, during my first fitting, she noticed I was uncomfortable with how much of my bust was showing. She made the brilliant suggestion to use lace from the bottom of my dress and add it to the bust. Not only would it give the dress a more "finished" look, but it would provide just enough extra coverage in that area where I would feel confident. She could have not been more spot on! I didn't think the dress could be more beautiful but with her expert eye, she made it so. She also made the bustle look beautiful as the placement was perfect. Sometimes a bustle can be a very unflattering on a bride. My suggestion to future brides Is to meet with her if you can before you buy your dress. I can't even express in words how amazing Loyce is. After I found a dress that I liked at BHLDN that I would need to change to off-the-shoulder to make it "my dress," and the sales lady reassured me that I could easily make the change via a tailor, I soon realized that adjustment was next to impossible (my dress also had a low back). I found Loyce through BHLDN's suggested tailor list and saw her amazing Yelp reviews. She worked with me as much as possible to add boning to the dress. She added so much structure to the dress that it could virtually stand up on its own. She also made me a custom veil with crystals on it. It was stunning. Everyone at my wedding was in awe of my dress, and several friends even asked how my dress stayed on. I just told them how amazing my tailor, Loyce, was! Also worth noting is that Loyce is very organized, and you don't have to worry about her remembering your appointment. Just contact her early to make sure you can get on her schedule. I had a crash course in wedding dress tailoring, and you don't want just anyone handling your dress. We are hoping she can tailor my sister's dress as well. read more

I was quite lucky to find Loyce to help with my BHLDN wedding dress alteration! The gorgeous beaded gown I found was way too long for me and way too complicated to alter but not for Loyce! She spent days hand sewing back my train after resizing it because the beads were too delicate for machine sewing. She made the dress felt like it was custom-made for me. I felt like a princess on my big day all thanks to Loyce! She also helped me with a custom-made hand beaded veil to go with my dress. Thank you Loyce for all your hard work!
