Food- I went here with a group of 7. It was my second time and the appetizers were good. I love…read morethe garlic shrimp, fried pickles and chicken dumplings. Now for entree, I chose the flounder daily special. I got it go and it was bland and a very small portion considering what my friends who ordered the same meal to stay received. Booooooooo to the small take home portion size that many restaurants do because you can't tell what they give you until you get home. (Do better!) Drinks-ehhhh! So our evening started off bad when my lychee was missing from my pear lychee martini (with tequila instead of vodka drink. The server bought me one in a cup but it was slimy and smelled like it was spoiled. Needless to say I didn't want any lychee's after that. The server tried to convince me, a lychee connoisseur that there was nothing wrong with it. After the rest of my party who had the same drink noticed it was spoiled, we all requested a new drink. The server had an attitude and was clearly bothered. After asking for the manager, she came back and brought us fresh drinks and a cup full of fresh lychees. But it was such a task to get the drinks straight. My remade drink came back incorrect and I decided to go over to the bar and who was messing up our drinks and who was putting a damper on what should have started out to be an amazing night. He asked what was wrong, I told him and he made me a new one (3rd times a charm I guess). Service 3/10 The young lady that served us had an attitude the moment I told her about the rotten lychees. It was downhill after that. This establishment needs to take some of the money from the overpriced meals and train their staff! I could go on but don't feel like it. Ambience 7/10 it was okay. The live entertainment for the night, Eric G made our night. His voice was amazing and he sang all the old school songs I grew up on. He definitely made the night what it was. IF and I mean if I go back, I will sit at the bar to watch them make my drinks and I will only order the apps I like. The 3 stars is ONLY because of entertainment or else I would have given 2 stars.

I've been wanting to check out Providence Bar & Kitchen after viewing exciting cocktail content on…read moreits socials. I dropped in at 7:30 PM on a Saturday night and grabbed a seat at the bar. The space has a warm and modern feel. On the food side, I enjoyed a beet salad. The dish was beautifully presented with a generous portion of beets underneath a tower of greens, topped with a fried goat cheese cake. Delicious! For cocktails, I started with "The Perfect Pairing" - a seasonal whiskey cocktail with Widow Jane applewood rye, Aperol, spicy pear liqueur, bitters, and muddled orange. I really enjoyed this sturdy cocktail. I'm not much of a dessert cocktail person, but Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream is my flavor, so I indulged with mixology ace Giovanni's "Mint Chocolate Martini." Pumping up the vanilla vodka, creme de menthe and another liqueur was mint chocolate ice cream. Other guests were raving about the espresso martinis (that use freshly brewed espresso right off the machine). It's safe to say that dessert cocktails are a strong suit at Providence Bar! Chatting with owner Eric, I learned that the patio has a retractable roof which will be opening up with warmer weather close at hand. They also hold special events (wine and food pairings, cigar nights, mixology classes). With great food, cocktails, and service - Providence Bar is highly recommended. I look forward to returning soon.

Summary: Food was excellent. Overall service was lacking…read more We arrived at the restaurant and we were seated promptly. The host provided us with our menus upon each of us sitting in our chair, and we thought we were in for a nice customer experience. Upon being seated, we waited about 10 minutes to get bread and water, and then another 10 minutes after that for someone to take our drink order...and then the bar was backed up, so we did not get a drink in hand until about 30 minutes in. You would think that if it took that long to get drinks, you might want to put the appetizer order in when we ordered the drinks. This did not happen. We did not put our food order in until about 45-60 minutes. The apps we ordered were very good. The entrees were good as well, although upon ordering filet mignon medium rare, the meat was severely undercooked (essentially raw and jiggling). We had to request the order be heated to the correct temperature, which our waiter did without hesitation. Unfortunately, as we waited for this to occur the rest of our meals waited to be consumed. We then ordered our coffees/desserts - only 2. Our coffees came out within about 10 minutes, which we finished in another 10 minutes. Dessert did not hit our table for about 25 minutes. We had a 6pm reservation for 3 people. The entire meal took 2.5 hours to compete. We only ordered a total of 3 alcoholic beverages, 3 apps, 3 entrees and 2 desserts. From my perspective, the restaurant did not staff an adequate number of wait staff for the volume of customers. Additionally, there should be a dedicated staff member that can run drinks to tables. Even the person that filled water glasses and delivered bread was falling behind. She brought out apps plates to our table as we were finishing up our apps and eating out of our bread plates. Not a big deal, but just added to the underperforming service. Again, food quality was excellent, but the restaurant did not nail a great service experience on this night. The good news is that hopefully they can correct this for the future.

I always crave a crisp coca cola, and Eately's brand is absolutely phenomenal. The menu is large with all kinds of pastas, pizzas and much more. They do offer a $25 lunch price fixe that comes with two courses. I wanted pasta, so this offering didn't really make much sense for me. They have plenty of pasta options for course 1, but for course 2 you can only get rice, potatoes or focaccia. I do wish they had some kind of green or salad option here. Pasta dishes are around the same price as the lunch special anyhow. The cacio e pepe was divine. Silky, creamy and perfectly al dente noodles. The lunch portion is perfectly sized too. Fettuccine alfredo comes out in a cheese wheel which is always fun. I'm sure you can't go wrong with anything here. Eataly really just knows how to do it right.

The dining options at short hills are limited, and Eataly is probably the best option…read more I've always found the food at Eataly to be tasty and consistent. Maybe I'm just ordering the right thing? The pomodoro pasta is one of the best I've ever had. This sauce is really delicious and complex. The pasta is really nice quality and al dente. Very good. Recently we came for brunch and it was just ok. The eggs with asparagus, ricotta and pancetta - We asked for a soft scramble (not soft). They had sliced raw asparagus tossed in little olive oil on sliced bread... needed to be more than just that. It would have been a lot tastier if they seasoned the ricotta and toasted the bread. Still, I like coming here and it's a great restaurant for a mall. It's also easy to bring kids here which makes it very convenient!
