Food- I went here with a group of 7. It was my second time and the appetizers were good. I love the garlic shrimp, fried pickles and chicken dumplings. Now for entree, I chose the flounder daily special. I got it go and it was bland and a very small portion considering what my friends who ordered the same meal to stay received. Booooooooo to the small take home portion size that many restaurants do because you can't tell what they give you until you get home. (Do better!) Drinks-ehhhh! So our evening started off bad when my lychee was missing from my pear lychee martini (with tequila instead of vodka drink. The server bought me one in a cup but it was slimy and smelled like it was spoiled. Needless to say I didn't want any lychee's after that. The server tried to convince me, a lychee connoisseur that there was nothing wrong with it. After the rest of my party who had the same drink noticed it was spoiled, we all requested a new drink. The server had an attitude and was clearly bothered. After asking for the manager, she came back and brought us fresh drinks and a cup full of fresh lychees. But it was such a task to get the drinks straight. My remade drink came back incorrect and I decided to go over to the bar and who was messing up our drinks and who was putting a damper on what should have started out to be an amazing night. He asked what was wrong, I told him and he made me a new one (3rd times a charm I guess). Service 3/10 The young lady that served us had an attitude the moment I told her about the rotten lychees. It was downhill after that. This establishment needs to take some of the money from the overpriced meals and train their staff! I could go on but don't feel like it. Ambience 7/10 it was okay. The live entertainment for the night, Eric G made our night. His voice was amazing and he sang all the old school songs I grew up on. He definitely made the night what it was. IF and I mean if I go back, I will sit at the bar to watch them make my drinks and I will only order the apps I like. WINGS were prepared well, moist, tender and crispy exterior. However, both the Blue Cheese dipping sauce and Buffalo sauce were on the sour side and could have had a better recipe. MINI RIBS were for the most part moist and tender. They had good smoke flavor but but shadowed by the burnt exteriro which really put a damper on them. But the BBQ sauce was awsome; well balanced with vinegar, sweetness and consistancy with great flavor. I would be willing to buy that sauce for home. So much fun! Unfortunately, I don't have a single picture of this place or the food. This was a "no phones allowed" girl's night so I had to follow the rules! :) I went on a Friday night to experience the live music! Eric was PHENOMENAL!! He sang everything from ballads by Luther Vandross to raps by 50 Cent, LOL!! Getting up to do the electric slide is a MUST so be prepared for that! Yes, there is lots of dancing going on in there! The service and food were both amazing! For apps, we had garlic shrimp (5 stars) fish tacos (3 stars) crab cake sliders (3 stars!) For my entree, I chose salmon with hollandaise sauce and it was DELICIOUS! It was served with roasted cauliflower and fingerling potatoes! 5 stars for sure!!!! There are lots of tables for small and large parties! The bar area is huge with plenty of seating and flat-screen TVs all around. The bartender was a whole vibe by herself so hang out there for a bit for some fun. We didn't have a reservation but had no trouble getting a table. It was about 60% full around 8 pm on a Friday. The live music ends at 11 pm and the DJ takes over. This is a perfect spot for a girl's night, birthday celebration, date night, or to just hang out by yourself! Girls' Night out proved to be a great time @ Par 440. The live music was a great change from the norm. The singer kept the crown moving throughout dinner with a extremely diverse selection of music. I honestly had a fantastic time. The food was good, as was the serve & drinks. This is a restaurant that I can't wait to revisit; however the outside of the building was quite deceptive; I kept wondering if I was in the right place as the outside looked like a community center to me, but the inside was dimly lit and very with a full bar & comfortable seating for both large groups as well as tables for two. As for the price point, I would say it was moderately priced and the menu has something for all. The best part of the experience was definitely the music, I can see this place as a great spot for date night or just hanging out with the guys or girls. Give it a try! read more

I'm so glad I finally gave Par 440 a try! It's a little bit out of the way, since it's situated on the East Orange Golf Course, but there is plenty of parking and you don't have to be a golfer to come eat and drink! The restaurant is bright and airy, with lots of windows and patio to show off the surrounding golf course. Of course, in February it's too cold to enjoy the outdoors but I can imagine that the patio would be a wonderful place to enjoy cocktails during the warmer months. The food is fantastic. I ordered the (boneless) beef short ribs and they were super flavorful, savory and tender. The portion was very generous and it's served with creamy mashed potatoes and asparagus (I subbed broccoli). My dinner companion opted for the veal milanese and it was also fantastic. The veal was thinly pounded, perfectly fried and topped with a generous helping of arugula, tomatoes and cheese. I highly recommend this place! It's casual enough for a fun outing with the family and could also be a great date destination. read more

Used to grab drinks here back in the day when it was Fore Seasons. Get it? FORE Seasons because it's adjacent to a golf course. Well, the name changed and so did the pun but the big difference is just about everything else. Walked in the other night expecting to see a small reboot of its former self but boy was I wrong. They really outdid themselves because what used to be a small restaurant with a dinky little bar has metamorphosed into something pretty damn awesome, especially when it's so damn close. Bar area was huge, inviting and comfortable with a fairly cavernous restaurant that's decorated almost lavishly. Service and food was also right on point as was just about everything else. They also had a singer which I thought added just the right touch to an already outstanding evening. If you're in the greater Livingston, Orange, Short Hills area and your old haunts have become played out (ahem McLoone's) might I suggest a refreshing change. Give Par 440 a shot. I went to Par440 on Saturday April 16th 2022. I ordered a steak meal. The waitress did tell me that that particular steak was a little salty. I said ok, I can deal with something being a little salty. When I finally got my meal it was salty to the point where you couldn't even eat it. I called the waitress back over to tell her it was extremely salty and that I couldn't eat it. She said let me get my manger. She comes back to the table with out the manger and says, " My manger said because I told you it was a little salty we can't take it off the bill". I said it was super salty. The manger never came to talk to me and they charged me for a meal I couldn't even eat. Par440 does not have good customer service. I will never go back and will encourage others to not go to this establishment as well. read more

We spent the day here. Eating and relaxing! Our waiter was wonderful! Food was out of this world really a hidden gem! All the sauces that came with the mussels, shrimp, hot wings was sooo good. The dinner plates were very large. Drinks were good as well. We did spend a pretty penny but the ambiance and music was just so relaxing. On the golf course, this is the perfect spot to grab drinks and grub on a nice day. We came here just to sit out and relax on a warm fall day. Service was good and attentive. We just had wine and wings, so not a big sampling of their menu. Overall, a nice spot to try when the weather is nice. Will be back to sample more next time. read more

I've driven by this place several times and wanted to try their food. And finally Last evening we ran out of options for restaurants and thought we'd order from Par 440. We made the right choice. For appetizers we ordered the imported octopus, and beef empanadas. And got the baby arugula salad. The portions were large all tasted v good . For entrees we had the porcini ala amici, Chilean sea bass and grilled filet branzino. The Chilean sea bass was really really good. The best I have ever had. Though the grilled branzino was simple it tasted really good. And the pasta was very good w lots of mushrooms and the sauce was yummy. Very generous portions and have plenty of LO's. For desert we got the chocolate mousse, chocolate lava and fried cheesecake. Was so full from the apps n entrees that did not taste them but have left it for today. Excellent food! We celebrated my brother in laws birthday at the restaurant a few days ago. Party of seven, ribeye steak, lobster and pasta dishes were AMAZING! Customer service was excellent! Our waiter went above and beyond to ensure that everyone was happy with their food and drinks. The restaurant gave off that old school classy/ jazz joint place that everyone wants to be at for a great night out. Almost canceled Saturday night after reading reviews, but called and spoke with the receptionist and I voiced my concerns and she was shocked when I explained that I was a little nervous about the reviews. After hearing her protest about reviews, I made her a deal that I would keep my reservations, but that I would hold her personally responsible if the night was a bust. Half way through dinner I went out and gave her a big hug and told her that I was very happy with service and food. The food was pretty darn good, but what stood out for me was how hard the wait staff was working. Jorge was our server and he really gave it his all and gave good recommendations as well, as did the others. I have already recommended Par 440 to plenty of friends. After eating at par 440 many times this summer (after taking my 6 year old son to the driving range) I am writing of what is now my LAST meal ever at this restaurant due to the dishonest charges on our bill. After ordering 2 kids meals (pasta with butter) our check reflected the price for a "regular" portion - $15 totaling $30 for what would have each been the size of a "side" potion or just what was ordered - a "kids" meal. After nicely addressing it with our server she said she had no idea the kids meals were taken off the menu. In fact - none of the staff were aware except for Mario - the "owner/ manager". According to Mario about 4 weeks ago they did away with this option despite the fact it was still a choice in the computer for the server to enter to the kitchen. unbeknownst to the entire staff and customers when placing the order the affordable kids meal is now the price of an adult entree when printed on the bill- in fact it's way more than even most of the wine selection. After speaking with Mario (twice) he now compares par 440 to Feathered Fox and Capital Grill. Well let me tell you the overpriced food does not come close to even the McDonald's up the street for the price of it. While I am not one to knock a local restaurant trying to make ends meet these days I felt compelled to share my family's experience. We will not be returning due to the dishonest nature of Mario and the crazy price of a bowl of pasta and butter. read more

My wife and I went put for dinner here. I must say...the food exceeded my expectations. We ordered the zucchini floweret from their daily special as well as the mini ribs from the appetizer menu. The ribs were AMAZING! it's a small dish. Only 4 small pieces, but viper crispy on the outside and soft and juicy in the inside with a very tasty BBQ sauce. For the main course we shared the Mediterranean salmon. It was perfect. Very tasty. Also crispy on the top and tender on the inside, drizzled with a little balsamic glaze and bruschetta. Do NOT come here until they open their indoor bathrooms. They have 2 porta potties for hundreds of people (golfers and diners). Great outdoor space, good food but porta potties with no ventilation is a breeding ground for Covid. You have to wear your mask walking on the patio but they make everyone use 1 toilet? read more

The food is good...a bit overpriced, but good, but the music is TOO LOUD!!! They had 1 guy singing with background tracks tonight and we literally could not hear the people sitting next to us!! Absolutely ridiculous. We pleaded with management to turn it down even a little bit, and were dismissed. We asked to speak to the owner and were told he was busy and we should take a card. So unnecessary. The decibel was over 100db, that's harmful. We would've stayed for coffee and dessert, but our ears were throbbing. Btw, my husband and I are in a rock band and this was louder than our band. You have to know your venue and pay attention to you customers. Managers have to control talent better than this. August 1st, table of 8. Good food at best, I've had better...service sucked!! We were stuck with our waitress's first day on the job!! Forced to pay for a fly in our in our 3rd or 4th $60 sangria which was no problem. But adding on a $15 gratuity for the one with the fly in it?? All we asked was for the $15 back. And the manager (short curly haired guy) acted like we were doing him a favor for letting us into his establishment. 2 stars because there is added gratuity for any number of people. My cousin and I went to listen to the Thursday DJ. I am African american, the DJ is African american, and all the people seated on the porch were African american. Why is gratuity included, but if I eat there for lunch the gratuity isn't included? I tip 18-20 percent and find it offensive that the tip is included in the meal for a table of 2. If that is the practice for all table at all times I definitely understand, but I know it's not. Finally tried this place and had a negative experience like most. Arrived at 6pm when restaurant was 3/4 empty and was told no tables available. So we sat cramped at the end of the bar. Ordered appetizers - waited 30 minutes for dried out nachos and flavorless pizza. The waitstaff could care less that we had a poor experience. The manager never came out. Drinks were okay - Brazilian bartender makes a mean caipirinha. So we had drinks it's now 715 the place is still pretty empty and they turn away people who want to eat. This place is horribly managed and I don't think it will last. Drinks although decent were also extremely overpriced Updated: went back and I'm bumping up to 2 stars. I had the displeasure this past weekend of being at Par 440 for an event I was running where we were bringing over 100 people after our game to eat and drink. This is ALL incremental business for a typical Saturday night at this establishment. Prior to this event, I've done some on-line reading about the owner, Mario, and was quite shocked by what I was reading. This guy did not come off as a nice guy and what I was reading was quite disturbing that an owner/manager of a restaurant/bar would act like that to customers. But, our event was already planned to be at this location so we could not change to a different location. In discussions my partner had with him, he didn't come off as the nicest guy when we were trying to have our event end here. In bringing him business, we thought he'd take care of us a little on our pre-game dinner check which they did not do; however, he did say he'd buy us drinks after our game ended. We've brought our game to many other restaurants and bars in the tri-state area where the manager/owner appreciated our business and covered our tab which was more a "thank you" for filling his establishment with lots of people, increasing his/her profits for the night. Anyway, fast forward to the end of the game being played across 17 teams and 102 participants. While the full 102 people didn't all go in, there was still quite a large percentage of people that did enter the bar/restaurant for food and drinks. This was all our company bringing him business. After my event ended and people enjoyed their food and drinks, my business partner was sipping a drink. I asked him if the drinks were on the house for the 4 of us (company owners) as he had promised. He said, "Yes, just tell the bartender that Mario was hooking us up" and we should have no issue. So, I went to the bar to order a few beers and had told the bartender that we were the company that filled the place up and Mario had said he would comp us some drinks. It didn't sound like she believed me so I saw her walk over to Mario at the other end of the bar. She came back and tells me that Mario said he already gave us ONE drink. I said, "Huh? We brought in all this people and he is giving us just ONE drink? There's four of us." She said I could go over and talk to Mario myself. I made my way through the crowd which was ALL people I brought to this bar. When I arrived at Mario, I introduced myself and told him that I'm with the company that brought all these people here. I said my partner said you would get us some drinks after the event ended. He goes, "I brought you ONE drink" in a tone that I knew he was already getting pissy at me. I said, "Well, we are FOUR people and we brought you all these people." He starts going off on a tirade, "That's bull-s**t. You didn't bring NO hundred people. You used me for my parking lot. You didn't bring me anyone..." This is when I snapped cause NO ONE speaks to me in the tone he started taking. I said, "What? All these people are MY people who played. Whatever man! You are the EXACT Asshole I read about in all the Yelp reviews about you." Then, I got the "What did you call me" as he started coming at me like he was gonna punch me. There was a lot of verbal exchange back and forth which included him telling me to get the hell off of his premises before he called the cops! Really classy for a owner/manager to talk like that to his customers. My wife started pulling me away as she didn't want me winding up in the hospital since he was a larger man. Eventually, when he basically got me to the exit, I stopped yelling at him as I walked back to the parking lot. This guy is out of his mind. You can read about him on the internet as he has a reputation of being a total jerk. You couldn't pay me to go back there. I urge you all to think twice before you give this place another dime. There are plenty of other good places to go for good food that is not as overpriced as this guy's menu. I wish him nothing buy misery and hope his reputation keeps people away from ever entering Par 440 again. read more

Great place to come for a quality dinner a huge assortment of food on the menu from burgers to sushi. When I came I decided to get the Bbq Ribs and sweet potato fries which was a huge portion but the ribs feel off the bone and might look like to much sauce but was the perfect amount. Plenty of TVs to watch sporting events or grab a drink or two after a round of gold. Good spot for anyone for any type of food you are in the mood for. read more

Posting this on both sites: Par 440 - Been there too many times to count, usually happy with the food and service but - went there tonight with a party of 9 at 7:45. Half the restaurant was empty at that time. Ordered drinks and apps when we sat at the table, dinner selections 15 min later. Took 30 min for drinks to come, about 1 hr for apps to come. We asked the waiter and staff numerous times how much longer for our food to be brought to us, finally after 2 hours we asked to speak to the manager because our main dishes still had not arrived. We politely explained to the manager how long the drinks and apps took and 2 hours later the main dishes were still not delivered to our table. Our waiter and staff were very polite, very apologetic about the time frame. The manager was very rude about it, more rude than I have ever encountered at any restaurant. When we said the restaurant was half empty when we arrived, he accused us of lying and wanting to see the video cameras. He was downright obnoxious. We left over two hours later, food still not delivered to our table. We talked at length to our waiter and other staff about our experience tonight and they were so nice about it and apologetic and said they were not understaffed.....but the manager was more obnoxious than I have ever experienced at a restaurant. read more

Went here for our 20th high school reunion. The bar and bartender were great, the food was great, but in the same open space with no separation they had a birthday with a live DJ so loud no one could talk which is the whole point of a reunion. I'm not saying they should have held the entire space for us, but the two events weren't at all compatible. We booked months in advance. If they had us in the bar space with people having dinner, or the party in the dinner area with random people at the bar it might've worked.
