I've been to VIP Airsoft over 30 times in the past three years. You can say I'm a veteran at vanguard. Me and my friends go all the time in uniforms and with our own guns, I go dressed as a ww2 Wehrmacht German soldier and my friends as well as the majority go as a modern US soldier with m4's. I have seen the uplift of publicity as well as wealth at vanguard. Which has pros and cons. The arena is a decent size and has C.Q.B environments along with towers and obstacles and passage ways which ensure a lot of activities. The game modes presented ranging from medic to capture the flag are a lot of fun, but only with the right people. The problems are different at times and are quite annoying. One I hate is the allowing of little kids. Since the high publicity more and more little kids show up decreasing higher age groups. The minimal age is 7 years old and what you end up with is mostly 11 year olds with sailor mouths cheating and acting LIKE KIDS eager to show how much of a wanabe soldier they think they are. Vanguard does not allow shooting glasses (made to block eyes from burning hot brass) inside the arena which is ridicules, the maximum fps is 330 when it should be 400, and I don't know what some people think but some of their employees are rude, selfish, and disrespectful. Countless times bad calls, and bad attitudes were presented to me and other players. Such as being kicked out for tapping a kid on his shoulder and other liberal justifications. Though the ground base of VIP Airsoft is good, the structure they built is flawed. Anyways its still fun and gets out your needs for airsoft combat well, and it's the only reasonable serious airsofting location in AZ. read more

This review is long overdue! Both of my boys were determined to have their Birthday parties here. The scheduling process was super easy and the staff is great. The owner Brian and his daughter Emily are extremely accommodating. We had a party room designated for us so the kids could chill in between rounds and this was also where they were able to eat pizza and open gifts. The arena is huge and so much fun to sneak around hunting your opponent. Several of the kids who celebrated with my boys have since had their own birthday party at VIP Airsoft! Both of the boys talk about going back often. This is a great place for adults and kids!!! read more

Do NOT attend so called "18+ night" (Thursdays) I understand kids will be playing but about 80% of the patrons were under the age of 15 and did not follow the rules of engagement. Website was misleading saying 18+ players on select Thursdays (a day we came) were to be given a discount, after mentioning that we were 18+ we weren't given the $7/person discount. Was visiting family in town for the week and saw this was nearby. Decided to check it out and compare it to fields in Florida. Deeply regret dishing out the money for the time played. Full of little kids. Rules are BARELY followed. ENDED UP LEAVING WITH MULTIPLE BLOODY MARKS ON BODY. CHRONO IS NOT CHECKED PROPERLY. Staff listens to issues and does nothing about it. Attachments that are illegal on other fields are legal here. My biggest problem with attachments were flashlights. My little cousin has epilepsy, we were confronted by a flashlight within 5 ft, shined right into our eyes and was fired at. This could have potentially been fatal for him or sent him into epileptic shock. When mentioned to the staff they laughed it off and said "get a flashlight too" Masks they provided were horrendous, they would fog up within ten seconds of putting them on and I continuously had to step out of the playing area, and walk all the way to the pro shop which was about 50ft away through the waiting area (as you were not permitted to remove masks once out of the area despite safeties on and mags out) Team colors were difficult to differentiate from as there was no regulation as to how players had to wear them, which resulted in friendly fire at almost every corner. My girlfriend went to the concession stand in between games twice for hydration and ended up waiting the entire "cool off" period between games because staff was nowhere to be found. Anyone who loves and respects airsoft should stay clear of this place. I have been playing airsoft for 6 years and have been to multiple cqb arenas across the country and by far this is in the top 3 worst arenas due to the lack of respect for the sport and for the fact that each room is too cramped. Leading to the "bang bang" rule to be almost necessary in every altercation but highly disregarded. Will not return and will inform other players to stay away from here. As I hope I get a response I am almost certain I will be looked up in the system then be given a nasty lecture from the "owner" just like the other 1 star reviews. So bring it on. This experience led me to write my first review on yelp and google. Certainly not a good experience at all. It's a shame how others have talked ill about this company and the owner has the nerve to talk down to them and be disrespectful instead of realizing there's a problem with his business. read more

If you like call of duty or the purge this is the place for you. I bought the four hour session and rental equipment on groupon for $50. That my friend is a good deal. I wanted to scope the field and my goodness the arena is so big and very equipped with props. Sadly I didn't participate because my girlfriend was scared and I didn't wanna get gang raped with all the pros. So when asking for a refund they didn't know what to do because they already redeemed my groupon code. They said first time ever in 4 years they were asked for a refund. Well.... There's a First for everyone right. They asked us io call groupon and they were able to refund back the money. OVERALL my rating is towards the customer Service and the environment. 5/5! Dropped the teens off for their four-hour session. Because of the restrictions, we pre-paid the session online. This made the process very easy and efficient. Check-in process was very stream-lined and painless. The boys had a BLAST! The entire ride back to our place they couldn't stop talking about how much fun they had pelting each other and sniping the other guests who were playing. HANDS DOWN the BEST AIRSOFT arena and store EVER. Has all the gear I need and the staff is always nice. Got some tech work done and it came out very good with the exception of one thing with they fixed for free. I enjoyed talking with Roman the tech and he was very knowledgeable and gave me some good advice. When I was getting work done he talked with me the whole time. My only complaint is the food which is not bad but will do the trick when your hungry but they do have a lot of drink and snacks. Everything you can buy in the whole store is very reasonably priced. It's sad because I really wanted to like this place. I love airsoft and in Arizona it's almost impossible to play outdoor with the heat. VIP is the only indoor field even remotely close by. Everything about VIP is great except for the most important part. The gameplay. The gameplay at the Gilbert field is AWFUL compared to other fields. Imagine running around a maze of pointless rooms only to get shot in the back by someone sitting in a corner. There is almost no way to have any strategy due to the fact that you have no idea where anyone is until they are 5 feet in front of you. If this was my first time experience playing airsoft I would never want to come back. You just blindly walk around waiting to get shot in the back, and everyone is so jumpy that often times it's your own teammates. It's like they set it up for swat training instead of actual firefights. There's no fire back and forth. You just jump around corners only to get shot point blank. In my opinion they should just rip down all the walls and scatter some boxes and barrels throughout the room. It would make it feel like an actual fight instead of a jump scare maze. If you're just getting into airsoft I would recommend trying out an outdoor field like Wild West. This field is built for a very specific type of gameplay that is super off-putting to new kids afraid of getting hit. I hate to see kids trying out a sport that I love, only to be crushed by some try-hard running around because he knows the layout perfectly. I know I am rambling a little bit, but I'm just upset because I wish layout was better. I tried bringing it up before but they say they can't change it due to fire safety and other bull****. Idk I just wish they would change the field. A lot more new players would stick around. read more

Their tech service is very inconsistent, they are overpriced and don't do great jobs. They have had my gun for 12 weeks now and just ordered the parts for it. Their arena is good but they have annoying regular players because they don't really punish for overshooting or not calling hits. Their store is normally pretty fairly forced but sometimes overpriced. I would recommend Wild West airsoft to anyone who enjoys airsoft. read more

Me and my disabled brother go airsofting for the first time and I was excited and payed $50 and they kicked us out for adjusting our goggles and we didn't have a refund. Treated us like trash and after telling the ref it was our first time and my brother was disabled he said he didn't care at all. Don't go here if you want a bad first experience. After reading their response this is what I have to say: So far most of what she said is false, mixing around what my father said and continuous lies that we had shot in the prep room which is incorrect and I had gotten no warnings and neither did I threat anyone. I went to VIP Airsoft Arena last Sunday and had a great time. There was a large range of age groups that I feel created a fun environment. It's good to see kids that are into guns in a respectful manner. I am part of a hunting club that meets on a monthly basis and know first hand how important it is to get our youth involved in the shooting sports. The crowd was VERY respectful AND helpful. Not only is this sport fun... it is great exercise. If you know someone, or you yourself are playing FPS games all day, give this a shot instead. It's far more fun than your xbox can handle. The Park itself has a really exciting layout. It is very safe but not boring. They still have towers and crawl spaces to keep things interesting. There are tables with laminate tops and other features to use as cover. If you are interested but not sure about the layout, watch a few youtube videos and you will be hooked. On youtube search "vanguard airsoft 2013" While watching the players or between rounds, to prevent eye injuries, you are required to wear eye protection while at the tables located outside of the field. So I recommend bringing a pair of safety glasses so you don't have to wear your goggles/mask during this time. You can also purchase a pair from the front desk if you forget yours. The shop on site has the best selection in the valley of quality airsoft firearms. They also have fatigues and protective equipment. It is a truly one stop shop with competitive pricing. They carry Echo 1, G&G, and KWA just to name a few brands. If you don't feel like walking/driving to a nearby fast food/gas station, you can purchase food, drinks, and snacks at their snack bar. The pizzas aren't the normal 3 bites and it's gone type of pizza. It is a large pizza. If you don't have your own airsoft gear and want to get a taste before you dive in... you can rent all the gear you would need for an extra $15.00. This is a great price knowing how much it costs to maintain your own gear. I noticed a player having a problem with his rifle and the ref went and got him another one to use. The staff was very helpful and if they couldn't answer your question, they found someone that did. I will definitely be back to play again. read more

This is a very fun place. There is a wide range of age groups, and don't worry there are plenty of people who have never played before. Admission is $15 but an extra $5 if you don't have there custom house bbs. They rent guns for $15. One session is 4hrs long with breaks in between games. Airsoft is entirely player driven: the player's determine the fun, maturity, and overall experience you will have. However, a good staff that can handle a wide variety of players as well as be friendly and customer oriented always helps. Unfortunately, this arena has a mix of both leaning more negatively in each area. Both the players and judges are often very immature and hyper aggressive towards others. They carry such an elitist attitude for having the best guns and gear that I have seen them actively intimidate (and often with pride) other younger players. This type of behavior is cancerous at this fields, as new regulars will often adopt the same behavior. Maybe I'm just an old timer airsofter that can't get into the new tone of the sport but this type of environment is just getting worse and worse. The field itself is okay, they would really benefit from using the same general layout with a larger location to allow for more open areas. Given the small size I get how everything needs to be a really tight maze to make sense and to provide at least decent games. But really, with the amount of business they get they need to expand beyond just having two locations. They do make modifications over the years like the breachable door but overall the field is average. Pricing is worth what you're getting. read more

Enjoyed playing at this indoor field where safety is emphasized. I liked how profanity is not tolerated. Fun environment with a bunch of different game / shooting scenarios, although for a new player, the rules of the various game scenarios can sometimes be a bit confusing. It's a great way to get the kids (and adult) out of the house and away from the front of the screen. It can be a very physical game, as there can be a lot of movement in the large close quarter battle field. The techs are very helpful there. They also let you borrow a battery while your automatic electric gun battery is being courtesy-charged by them. The retail shop has a large selection of airsoft guns and rifles, as well as accessories and upgrade parts for your gun/rifle. I understand they want to sell their food, but when there is not a lot of selection and the pizza is too salty, I wish they would allow personal food to be brought in for those long game days. read more

The Field itself was ok. your basic CQB set up. Very fun to play in. The techs working in the back were also very helpful and experienced. The airsoft experience? Not the best. The place was full of 6-14 year old children who had no idea how to play. Most of them would never even call their hits.The on-field staff was a group of douchey teens who got their kicks from screaming at little kids. The field also has this horrible, game-breaking rule called "bang bang" where you could not shoot an enemy in close vicinity to yourself and the only way to "kill" them was by shouting "bang bang". This not only caused lot's of confusion, but it seemed terribly unnecessary. I cam to play airsoft, not to shout bang bang at 6 year olds. read more

My 7yo son saved up his money and asked if he could buy a toy gun online. I told him yes, as long as he could afford it with his own money. So long story short, he gets a package in the mail about a week later and when he opened it up, I was a bit surprised that he bought what appeared to be a real gun. The weight, build materials, texture...everything looked like the real deal, except for the orange tip at the end of the barrel. Pretty soon I was playing with the thing more than my kid was. What he didn't realize was that his gun didn't come with a battery, so we searched for a local retailer that might sell something to power the HK UMP sub-machinegun that sat idly in its box. VIP Airsoft came up on the Google SERPs so we made the trek out to Gilbert to see if they had what we needed to power up that 6mm BB slinger. I was expecting a small mom & pop store stocked with everything except what we needed, and I was mostly right. It was a small mom & pop store stocked with everything, but they did indeed have what we needed! And when I say "everything" I mean EVERYTHING. I couldn't believe the selection of airsoft guns they had on display, plus hop-up parts to make them run even better. They had guns of all types: pump, CO2, "Green Gas", AEG. It was pretty incredible the amount of stuff they have in stock. After careful analysis of online prices, it appears that they're very competitive with online shops as well. Staff is always friendly and helpful, though the place can get busy sometimes. My kid has spent over $500 so far (early Bitcoin miner) and we're happy to support a local business. read more

We Had my sons 10th bday at vip airspft today. It was really fun! I was nervous it was going to be kind of cheesy but it definitely was not. The boys had a blast. I had a really great time, its a we'll run and efficient place just didn't realize how much energy it took for the 4 hr "window" which is plenty of time to have a great time there. Went here for a business team building event. The concept is fun except the staff don't make people follow the rules they put in place making it not fun at all. Talking to multiple refs and nothing got resolved. They also give you malfunctioning equipment and replace it with more malfunctioning equipment. Will not ever be going back and we will find somewhere else to have our team building. read more

After playing here for more than a couple of times, I felt bad for my other review. I'm now giving this place another star because 1. There are not really any naggy kids anymore, seems like they're gone 2. If you get used to the arena, the bang bang rule kind of grows on you. And lastly 3. To everyone who is reading this review, there is a reason why this place is receiving a one star from me and I will list the reasons why, this will be a very lengthy review but I hope that your read it thoroughly so you don't get ripped off from this place like I did. 1.) the place is overpriced, for 1 session that lasts a few hours that consists of 1-4 games MAX is priced at $30+ including tax, which they charge 3x that follow as; Arizona tax, Gilbert tax, and another I cannot remember at the moment. 2.) Food there is "okay" the pizza they get is from Costco and they store in a warmer and charge ~$3 a slice and bottle water $2 don't forget that they include tax 3.) Referees, 80+% of the time the refs are not on the field supervising the game, if they are "supervising" (if that's what they say they do) they either hide in a corner with a riot shield in front of them and don't move the entire game or stand on the outside of the field and watch literally 1-2 hallways. 3.) protection, when your in the lobby (pro shop, snack bar, cash register, etc.) you don't need to wear any necessary face protection, but once you enter the staging area (before you enter the field) they force you to wear some sort of eye protection that can range from shooting glasses to full face masks, I don't blame them for trying to keep their customers safe but if someone goes there for their first time they're given a full face masks which they make you wear if your in the staging area and on field. Keep in mind that if you don't wear eye protection they will remove you from the premises, and I speak from experience. 4.) The technicians are paid on commission and don't even know what they're talking about have the time I can give an example from my own personal experience. I was at Wild West testing out my new ak74u and I placed a higher voltage battery that was not fit for that gun, it ran fine for a bit then just stopped shooting I took it to the techs and they said it could be a few things one: the connectors came off ( which is very common and easy fix), or two I blew the fuze. They took it apart and found it the fuze was blown. So later that day I took to VIP airsoft to get it fixed m, but instead saying what the problem was with my gun I asked them to see what they said about the problem and this is their response "this normally happens when someone shoots on semi auto fast, so just switch it to full auto real quick shoot it and it'll be fine" after that response without even opening the gun up to take a look inside it I took my gun back and said thank you and bought a new engine motor that was fairly cheap but became absurdly expensive after the tax. After putting in the new motor it works like a charm 5.)You can't bring in your own ammo, they make you buy their own ammo or you can't play there, if your found using your own ammo and not theirs you will removed from the premises, but sneaking in ammo is easy and everyone does because (pardon my language) ITS TOO FUCKING EXPENSIVE, everyone fills up their magazines before entering the the field to play, which is another problem with their reffing because they fail to check everyone's weapons to see if their using their own bb's or not 6.)the fps (feet per second) limit is so low that I had to buy a new and weaker spring for my brand new gun I got the other just to play there, even my own c02 pistol fired way above their fps limit In the end they only POSITIVE thing I can say about this place is that it's indoor (so it's cooler) and the attitude of the employees is appreciative. I would rather go to Wild West paintball and airsoft, where they charge $16 for airsoft, you get to use your own ammo, there are refs on the field continuously moving around and observing the matches that are in session, and it's $1 for a giant ice cold water bottle, and the techs fix your gun for free if it's a solvable problem that they can do on site. The reason why I return to VIP though I wish I don't is that they are the only airsoft store that sells anything you need, which I buy ammo, gear and pieces to fix or upgrade my gun, I can tell you right off the top of my head I can easily price 1 item there that always bothers me and it their .20g 1200 count elite force bb's are priced at $8.95 but after tax it becomes very close to $10. I hoped you enjoyed my very lengthy but thorough review if this establishment and I hop you can make the right choice of choosing a better filed than this place. read more
