It's actually a little animal rescue tucked into the backyard of a private property, where you can visit rescued Highland cows, pigs, goats, donkeys, tortoises, ducks, sheep and assorted other members of the Island of Misfit Pets. It's completely free to visit. You stay outside the fence for safety, but you can still pet and feed the animals (and it's okay to get emotionally attached to them!) Sometimes Carl leaves food outside for visitors to hand out to the "damaged pets" or you can bring your own approved snacks like apples, zucchini, carrots and cucumber. Basically a very wholesome BYOS situation. I posted a photo of the full approved-food list so you too can trick some furballs into becoming your new best friends. You can also leave a monetary donation to help with the cost of caring for the animals. You can visit at any time, but remember this IS someone's private property, so obviously be respectful of the home and neighbors.

Guardians are not charged and not required to wear grippy socks. They have a lot of different attractions such as The Floor is Lava obstacle course, huge ball pit with an interactive play screen, large play structures with multiple slides, basketball court with many hoops of variable heights, a giant ground air trampoline, tube slide, food and drinks for purchase, quiet private pods (for nursing, phone calls, etc) and even a peripheral track for adults to walk around and get exercise. My kiddo thought everything was super fun and he had a total blast. One thing I did notice the entire 2 hours we were there, was zero attendants monitoring the play structures. My kiddo was told by other kiddos that he could not go on the tube slide which definitely wasn't true because he was old enough according to the age requirement. Meanwhile, the same kids were both riding in the same tube, which is not allowed according to the same sign. I was wondering where their parents were. Also, the interactive screen in the ball pit had a lot of technical difficulties. It would not consistently respond to the balls hitting the targets or even a hand hitting the targets. So definitely a few areas of improvement needed, but overall, we had a really great time!

1 Star - Dangerous and disappointing experience on the Big Wheel…read more I rode the Boardwalk Big Wheel at Arizona Boardwalk today with my two young boys, ages 2 and 4. The experience was honestly terrible and, more importantly, felt unsafe. It was 105°F outside, and we were placed in the orange #15 gondola. The gondolas are primarily enclosed by glass and have no effective air conditioning. The AC in ours was clearly broken and was blowing hot air instead of cooling the cabin. Within minutes, all three of us were drenched in sweat and the heat inside was becoming extremely uncomfortable. The biggest issue was that the attendant locked us inside the gondola despite the extreme heat. We waved at her to let us out, but she didn't. We went around the entire wheel and, when we came back around, we waved again. She saw us, but still didn't open the door. I ultimately had to yell and knock on the glass to get her attention before she finally let us out after the second trip around. When we got off, I explained what had happened to the attendant. Her response was essentially an unenthusiastic, unapologetic "sorry." There was no concern about whether my children or I were okay, no offer to move us to a functioning gondola, and no refund or other attempt to make the situation right. I paid $22.71 for the ride, but the money isn't really the issue. What concerns me is putting young children into an enclosed, extremely hot gondola with a malfunctioning cooling system and then failing to respond when the passengers are clearly asking to get out. I would strongly recommend that Arizona Boardwalk inspect and properly maintain these gondolas and, more importantly, make sure attendants respond immediately when passengers are signaling that they need to exit. I would not recommend riding the Boardwalk Big Wheel, particularly with young children in extreme heat.

From a parent perspective, it's really easy to visit. There's ample parking, it's very stroller and diaper bag friendly, and it's a perfect place for a playdate. You can actually have conversations while the kids explore and move between activities. The mural in the courtyard is gorgeous and the puppets are always a hit with my kids. I had preordered our food months in advance, yet our order came out late and was incorrect. Meanwhile, our guests were upstairs waiting with no food and not even water available. We had to ask multiple times just to get the water refilled. Once all of the food finally arrived and the water was refilled, things were somewhat better, but we were still sitting in an uncomfortably hot space. Our party host did her best with what she had to work with, but the overall operation felt extremely disorganized. The entire place appeared to be run by teenagers, with no adult manager present or available to address issues. One employee at the front desk, Peyton, consistently appeared irritated and never once offered a friendly or welcoming attitude. To make matters worse, because we had spent so much of our party time upstairs waiting for the correct food order, my son went to take one last slide. Peyton came up to him and told him, "No, your time is up." At that point, I asked to speak with a manager. I was told, "You'll have to look up the number on our website and call them." I found that response incredibly unprofessional and rude, especially after spending nearly $700 on a birthday party that had already been filled with problems. I waited three weeks expecting someone from management to reach out and discuss what happened, but no one ever did. I understand that things can occasionally go wrong, but the lack of communication, poor customer service, disorganization, and complete absence of management made this experience extremely disappointing. I love that the 18 month old area is fenced in with a pool gate type of gate to enter making it difficult for 5 and under to get out on their own. Uptown Jungle has one of the best 5 and under area when it comes to the fencing and options for playing. This was our first time ordering a pizza and for $12 when you want to dine in to make it easier on the kids, it's fine. However, it doesn't compare to places nearby like Barros that you could go eat at afterwards, but again it's good enough for the convenience factor. Uptown jungle has a membership that comes with some perks like 10% off socks and foods as well as unlimited play for the month without restricted days. It also includes a parent to be able to jump. If you buy the annual pass it's about $18 a month which makes it worth it if you plan to go at least twice a month. If not, the Groupons for Uptown Jungle are better if you don't plan to go at least twice. Uptown jungle has toddler time in the morning from 9-12pm during the week for $12 and additional siblings are $6 and parents are free. During this time they have a little craft and some games. There are several options for things to do if your kiddo doesn't need to be with the littles. Big trampoline area, 4 different kind of slides, rock climbing are, etc. My 4 year old daughter has been able to make it 5-6 hours without getting bored or wanting to go home. Heck, she may have been able to stay longer if us parents wanted to stay long get. Another plus with uptown jungle is they are not picky on the grip socks like some places that absolutely require that establishments socks. Uptown jungle will allow you to wear socks from other jump type places. The only restriction I've found is when wanting to do the rock climbing wall, they did require my kiddo to have their socks.
