I had been a customer for about six years and outside of routine maintenance for my vehicle, I had no issues. I went in for an oil change and I noticed that two of the technicians that normally serviced my car weren't there ( first red flag ). So 30 minutes after they pull my car into the bay the shop manager tells me that my oil pan was cracked and the tech said it was like that when she lifted my car up. I have never had any issues with oil leaks at all so I was a little confused as to how my oil pan was cracked but wasn't leakin. I still went ahead and purchased a new oil pan because I just wanted to get my car serviced so I could leave. My car was serviced and they told me I was good to go. I drove 12 minutes home and my car remained parked in my driveway for two days. On the third day I drove to work and home. After approximately thirty minutes after I arrived home, I went outside and noticed a pool of oil in front of my car. I immediately took pictures and contacted the shop manager who asked me if I could bring my car in the next day. When my car was brought in, they knew that my oil pan was cracked (because they cracked it when they installed it) but instead of replacing it they put sealant on it like they did the first time. Once again, the sealant didn't work so they had to order another oil pan. They ordered a cheaper version which didn't fit my vehicle so they had to order the same oil pan that they cracked twice. The crazy thing is that the first time that they ordered this oil pan it arrived within a couple hours. When they reordered it took several days. In all, it took them two weeks to repair my vehicle when all I was there for was a simple oil change. If I wanted to damage my engine from an oil change I would've went to jiffy lube. Disappointed, frustrated, and beyond over it! First I thought this place was a good shop because I took my wife's car for a state inspection sticker. She needed two new front tires and alignment. We received at a good price. Fast forward: A week later, my own car started smoking and had an oil spill under the hood. The temperature gauge on my car at the time was not showing that it was overheating. So I got it towed to the Virginia Automotive because of their previous work was good on my wife's car. They diagnosed the problem and will cost $4600 to repair which would consist of them cleaning up the oil by taking out the engine and putting new parts in. I asked the front desk person if I could get certain things fixed due to financial reasons and she told me it will be best if I get it repaired all at the same time because it's cheaper that way. I also requested a state inspection service.I received another call saying I will need a ball and joint for the tire for it to pass inspection which I figured because I had some shaking in the wheel still after receiving an alignment from another shop. The Friday before Christmas I came to pick up my car and I was told that the lights just came on and their system was down and I can pick up my car on Tuesday. I was fine with it at the time because I THOUGHT IT WAS FIXED! Tuesday, I come pick up the vehicle. Had to take out a crappy loan service that they offer and pay some of it out of pocket. While the front desk person was acting a little skeptical because she did not want to sign the loan document and got the other young lady to sign it. Red Flag! I never received any feedback from the mechanic if I need to look out for something or more. While driving away from the shop, the ball and joint on the tire felt the same while braking, hearing swishing noise from inside the car, day 3 and my car is OVERHEATING after a diagnostic test was done and a state inspection sticker was placed on the car after paying hard earned money and trusting the shop to fix the issue. This is the 2nd time I had to reschedule my wifes anniversary dinner out of state. My car is sitting outside the shop. If it is not corrected and fixed this time. I will not be going back and I will definitely be contacting my attorney due to "bad repairs". Sadly my review was deleted off of Google due to being honest about my experience. read more

I thought I was about to get exceptional service but I got the worst experience of my life and they just took my money and said oh well. First I went with alternator problems on my Volkswagen Jetta. They put my alternator on wrong and it was the wrong alternator! They are so called privately owed and don't care about people of color in my opinion! They kept my car for a week then told me they couldn't figure out why it wasn't charging the battery they said they think I should take it to the dealership but they don't know how to put alternators on and they don't know how to do inspections they tired to get me to change a tire the was new because it didn't have the hub cap on it, and 200 for brakes got my car inspected the next week and it was nothing wrong with my brakes I just needed windshield wipers. Contrary to the other reviews on this page, I had a great visit to VA automotive service. The staff was friendly, accommodating, and flexible. My service was excellent and timely, and I left with all the information I needed (I brought a used vehicle in for a pre sale inspection). If I were staying in the area for a longer period of time then I would give them the opportunity to make me a regular customer. read more

The male at the front desk was just rude and not helpful. I came in for a routine state inspection, I had a 8am appointment and of course they found $709 worth of work, so I elected to have the work done somewhere else I asked the lady could I come back once the work was done that day and she said of course. So when I return the rude male again says well I don't have anywhere to put the car now you can wait. I asked how long he stated I have no clue you can schedule an appointment and come back. I asked could I go somewhere else he said yeah you going to have to pay another $16. I will never come to this shop again very poor customer service. And they look at everything but what's needed to pass inspection. They've lost my future business and any recommendations to every come here. read more

I took a female colleague there for a blown lower radiator hose...after a 2 hour wait they gave an estimate of $700. The deal estimated $375. He said he was just trying to get her back on the road to Florida...she has Florida plates but lives here. They some how managed to quote me over $$900 in repair in order for it to pass state inspection. This shop is a joke, all the workers look inexperienced, slow and not comprehensive. I took it the next day to another place and they told me my vehicle was perfectly fine and needed no work. It's unfortunate that I can't give them a zero. Please, look at the negative comments. For the most part, those are coming from educated consumers with genuine concerns. The main problem is that they aren't transparent with their customers. They don't care about building 'trust', their only concern is to syphon away as much money as they can from their customers. Would you put your life in the hands of a bunch of crooks? I would NOT be surprised if they broke things on people's cars in order to charge people for things that they didn't need. The owner only cares about the bottom line. The shop provides the same service and parts that all the other shops provide in the area for 25% more. Don't be fooled by their marketing. Worst service I've ever experience!!! They nickel and dime you for everything. I bought brand new tires, about 2 weeks later one randomly popped. They told me it wasn't covered under warranty once you drive on it. Once the tire popped I pulled over and waited for AAA. They tried to force me to buy a new one. read more

My husband and I recently had a major problem with our vehicles transmission, requiring a brand new replacement transmission. The good people at Virginia automotive went above and beyond working with our warranty company to ensure our claim was covered. Even after our car was towed and sent to the dealership to replace the transmission, (after a recall was discovered) Ed helped us file a claim to cover an extra week with our rental. We could not be more pleased with the service we have recieved each and every time we take our vehicles to this shop. We will never take our cars anywhere else. Please don't go there, you will save time and specially your money. This was my first time going to that shop, the experience was not that pleasant at all. I made my appointment the day before going in there because I knew that the shop was going to be busy. It was the day before New Years, so I was expecting some delays. I waited for 2 in half hours and I knew that was going to be long wait but not that long. But I'm mad about that place, a guy came In 15 after without having an appointment and he was the first one getting his inspection done. That place is bad organized and they are trying to rip you off. My car didn't passed the inspection because they told me that I have the wrong side tires. The next day, I went to a Tire place and they told that my tires were the right ones, the guy who checked my tires, he couldn't understand why my inspection didn't pass. The last straw, the owner called me because He wanted to apologize, I explained everything to him but he seemed like he was not caring how bad disorganized his place is. Horrible, horrible horrible experience! I made an appointment to have my inspection done. I was scheduled at 10am. I arrived at 950 am. I signed in to let the young lady at the register know I was there. I also informed the young lady that I had a coupon (from their coupon book that cost me $89) to get a free $16 inspection. There were people there so I knew I may have to wait some. It came to be about 11am, the taller gentleman walks over to the young lady and asks" what are they waiting on?" She replied "the name is Jackson ", he asked " what are they waiting on?" , she replied "he needs a state inspection ". He then asked " what time was their appt?" She replied "10 o'clock ". He then laughed, and then I realized my keys hadn't even been put in the key box, and my paperwork wasn't even put in there either. I noticed that the 3 people that had their car serviced already needed extra work, according to the mechanics. Nobody was able to walk out without something extra needed on their vehicles. I finally decided to leave. The young lady at the desk knew they were wrong. She apologized, I didn't feel like it was necessary after they had did the wrongful deed. The only reason I even went to this shop is because I had already been convinced this coupon book would save me so much money. My intuitions told me not to go there for my inspection. It makes me think about my own ethics and values whenever I walk into this business . They seem to always have something extra to say you need done to your car. Keep in mind my car is a 2015. I felt this strange feeling not to take my car back there, but I went against that feeling. Please, don't go there. Find you a good, honest mechanic or shop to take your car to. Literally the worse service of any business I've ever dealt with. I left my vehicle with them and received a call a few hours later for rundown of a ridiculous amount of repairs I needed in order to pass inspection, including an allegedly "blown" marker bulb that I just checked before I left my truck with them. I proceed to tell them to just give me the rejection sticker and leave my vehicle unlocked with the keys inside. I go to pick up my SUV that night and the doors are all locked with no key in sight. The one remaining employee there says no one told him to leave it unlocked and he doesn't know where the keys are. So the next day, having to ask for a ride back to the shop and after having them jimmy my door unlocked, I arrive to find my battery is completely dead. They are crooks and although I have no proof, I believe they aimed to give me a hard time because I refused to let them rob me for the unnecessary repairs. Please reconsider going here. They keep their business open by practicing trickery, and overpricing. read more
