Last time at a Jim's location for us was 10+ years ago. We were looking for a lunch place and just happed to drive by. It obvious Jim's has a very specific demographic. It's a large place and maybe 8 tables were occupied in the entire place. Pros: The food was actually great. It's an elevated Dennys experience with a pretty large varied menu with someone for everyone. The service was good too. The $4.99 kids menu is an absolute win coz the options were plenty and the portions as large as an adults. Crayon, activity pages etc. Just a surprisingly good meal overall. Cons: The food took a VERY long time to come out. Family members were getting antsy and it was an unusually long wait time. Great atmosphere and friendly service. Excellent food and good size servings. Great coffee , unfortunately no Coke products to my mother in law's dismay, but she settled with a strawberry lemonade and was quite pleased. The bathroom was extra clean too which I think is impressive. Would definitely recommend and will be back! read more

This used to be one of my favorite places to go eat with the family. But over the last few months the quality has significantly slipped. We ordered a Jim's breakfast and half the food was cold by the time it hit the table. Our kids food was overcooked. It was just a sad departure from how good it used to be. We haven't been to Jim's in years. Since my husband and I go out to breakfast often, we decided to go somewhere new. The restaurant looked packed on a typical Sunday morning. Which would typically dissuade us from even going in. But I decided to check and to our delight, they seated us immediately! The restaurant has been remodeled since we were there last, it looks great. The only problem is the cement floors and partial open ceiling make it really loud. But the wait staff was good, even though they were busy and the food was incredible!! We'll definitely be back!!! read more

My family of six (including a two and a four-year-old) decided to have dinner at Jim's family restaurant in Riverton. The appearance was clean and well lit. We were seated immediately and our waitress introduced herself and took our drink orders right away. Her service was professional, friendly and polite. My Patty Melt was a classic, crisp sourdough toast and full of meat, onions and dressing. Our fries were extra crisp, just as we like them. The grandkids both had chicken tenders and fries, which they enjoyed. This is important because they will not eat dried out chicken or soggy fries. My wife had the Basso fish dinner that included a salad, soup, vegetables, and choice of potato. All of this was very good and nicely presented. Service was a bit slow, but to be fair she was covering a lot of tables and we had made a number of special requests to customize our meals. Overall, it was an excellent experience and I would certainly recommend Jim's as an excellent, reasonably priced family dinner spot. read more

You walk into a small lobby area where people check in and pay their bill but if you have a few groups waiting for their table it gets very crowded and like I said, pushes potential customers away. While we were waiting at least two groups walked in and right back out thinking it was too busy but in reality it was just people checking out. They would benefit from a redesign of the entrance. While they are at it, add a second register and some acoustic damping materials because that place is loud! We were taken care of by Shantae, she was great , super friendly and helpful. Huge shout out. The family ordered a variety of breakfast items which took about an hour from order to serve (it was pretty busy). 1. Country fried steak skillet - the potato's, peppers and mushrooms were on point! This was the best dish of the table. 2. Cowboy Jim's breakfast - the gravy is a bit bland but just add some hot sauce and/or salt. The use of sliced cheese is weird. The steak was really good! For sure recommend. 3. cakes and eggs (kids) - the strawberry syrup was great on the fluffy pancakes. 4. Strawberry smiley cake (kids) - pretty tasty, good strawberries. 5. This restaurant is being super careful about covid! A sign on the door says maskless people will be charged $1 and given a mask. They have a list of covid symptoms and ask that if you have any, you order takeout instead. They have a sign in sheet to aid in contact tracing. They're limiting group size. And all the tables are spaced out. My kids got the strawberry smiley cakes and loooooved them. They said Jim's is now in their top 5 restaurants. I feel like everything could use more seasoning- more salt on the potatoes, more flavor in eggs, more egginess and cinnamon in the French toast. But allll this food was only $20 so I'm cool with it :) read more

BE WARNED...DO NOT EAT AT RIVERTON LOCATION! We are long time customers to Jim's restaurant...this only pertains to the RIVERTON location. 2 years ago the food and service were great..it has been only downhill since then. You can tell customers have left the scene because they charge an extra surcharge if you use a credit card and are probably desperate for money. They have a high turnover of staff now with the remnants scraping the bottom of the barrel...they used to have great service...the food used to be great...but not now. A waitress even complained that my phone was too loud...and another staff member made me aware that if we never came back that would be ok. When you have staff who doesn't care about customers it is game over for that restaurant. The manager needs to be fired and the staff upgraded, they will destroy what's left of their reputation. The food substandard. I ordered the rueban it was awful. My daughter got the chicken fried steak and eggs and that was ok.

At our last visit, they were not full and it still took them almost a hour to serve our food. When the waitress finally brought our food she also brought our check. I absolutely HATE when waiters do that! It's like they are saying, "here is your food and see you next time because I'm not coming back to this table." Well, sometimes I like to order extra fries, dessert or even a soda refill. As we were expecting she did not come back to bring the pancake syrup and I had to track her down to ask for it. She took her sweet time to bring the syrup. Not even once during the visit did she ask if we needed something. I would have thought that with all the Covid restrictions and people not going to eat out as much, restaurants would take good care of their clients that visit them. Sadly after our last two bad experiences at this location, we are not going back. read more

Jim's use to be one of my favorite places for a good home cooked meal, but while recovering from the pandemic they raised their prices once on the menu and now have raised their prices again without changing the menu. Multiple times I've been charged more at the register without any warning. As I finally inquired I was told prices had been raised and I protested that the menu needs to be updated then. After being told they could do nothing the manager finally came out and explained that the menu is the cash price. I said that was never offered to me and that should be on the menu. I'm not going back and no longer recommending friends till they fix this. It's just poor business and dishonest. read more

The ambiance was ok. The service? One word....AMAZING!!! Our server was Kyrstin S. She made sure that our drinks didn't run out. She made sure that we enjoyed our meal. Its your basic diner- no theme, no pleasant decor on the wall. Very dull, more of a cafeteria feeling if anything. Ordered burger and sweet potato fries and my father ordered omelet with pancakes. All the food was cold, very bland tasting. We just ate it cause we were hungry and didn't want to make a fuss. A lot of senior citizens in the restaurant, maybe they don't mind the bland cold food? We have loved the American Fork Jim's location but recently moved to Lehi and this one was closer so we decided to try it out. Well long story short, we should have made the drive to AF. We ordered our usual. It was far from tasty. The biscuits and gravy were hard, dry & tasteless. The verde breakfast was bland and had no flavor. The pork tasted how I imagine dog food would taste. The French toast was hard and just not good. Not a good experience at all. This location was filthy and just had a weird vibe altogether. We won't be returning. read more

Not all Jim's are created equal, apparently. I'm not a fan of diner schlock. When I was dragged to this place, I was expecting the worse. They may have a nice newerish building but the menu was typical and it had the same bustling clientele. So when the meal arrived I was more than pleasantly surprised with the attention to detail. "Shocked" is a better word. It's the same food as you would expect. Frozen veggies. Bagged salad. Etc. But everything was like perfect. Super crisp super fresh salad served in chilled salad bowls. Freshly portioned dressing. I really liked the house Greek dressing whatever it was. The vegetables were pan sautéed and seasoned really well. Aren't you supposed to just boil them, slap them on a plate as garnish or something? I ordered the fish expecting the standard soggy mess I'd hide under whatever sauce they served it with. Um.... Super crispy, super moist, and super hot... I never touched the tartar sauce. It was that good. Even the baked potato tasted unusually amazing. A good family place, especially for breakfast. I have found that ordering meals that contain items close to the natural source is best. E.G. ham, bacon, steak, eggs, etc. is best. Items than can be supplied by a commercial food producer (breaded things....) will not be as good. I wish they served Coke products but I like the place for just regular food. read more

After leaving IHOP hungry and frustrated from a long wait and no service, we were thrilled with our experience here at Jim's. We were seated quickly, no wait at all on a Saturday morning. Our server greeted us quickly and brought out drinks immediately. The menu is plentiful-has lots of great options. I chose a basic meal with eggs, bacon and pancakes. The eggs and bacon were great, the pancakes were a little dry, but not terrible. The ambiance of the restaurant is casual and comfy. It makes me feel like "Jim" may be in the back making breakfast while we chat in the dining area. I will definitely be back-I'd like to try the lunch menu next time. read more

Been coming here for 14 years. Prices have nearly doubled. Charging $5 for 1 cup of cottage cheese. Absolutely insane. A cup of tea is $4. All drinks are $4 each. Used to be around $2. Well...I have given Jim's one last chance to redeem themselves...but this morning was the last time. It was one of the worst breakfasts that I've ever had! The eggs were rubbery, the hash browns were undercooked, the sausage (that was supposed to be mild) was way too peppery and the (supposed) sourdough toast was just plain white bread! Not to mention the 7 flies that were near the window where they seated us. Needless to say... we moved to another table I have no complaints about the server. She was gracious, prompt and kind. But... when I went to pay the bill at the front desk... When she asked how the food was... well that was my opportunity ...I told her (I wasn't gruff in anyway) her response was "Well, you should have sent it back and had them cook it longer." What? And have the fry cook stop in my food.... ?No thank you. I did not hear I'm sorry. (I didn't expect a refund at all) but a defense of "I've never had anyone else complain." Really?
