We tried 2 of Virtuous Pie's "Veganuary" feature pizzas, & I'm obsessed!! The meatballs in the Meatballer pizza blew me away. They tasted just like real meatballs I know & love! The blend of greens & cheeses in the Green Flag pizza was absolute perfection. I really love that everything here is house-made from scratch! (Except the "meat" used to make the meatballs, which comes from TMRW Foods.) The drinks were refreshing & delightful. I loved the Paloma's light & fruity taste! And perhaps the most exciting part for fans of this establishment is the return of the popular Tiramisu Cannoli dessert, which I can certify is divine! read more

Either heat, salt, cheese/nutrional yeast? Also I've never liked bacon so natural I don't like vegan bacon either, which is ontop. Dessert- strawberry shortcake 5/5 Loved the vegan mascarpone with the fresh strawberries. Service was excellent! Quick & friendly. Lots of multi-tasking. Ambiance is not intimate. Just renewed my online subscription for the This is Plant Curious plant based deals, and when I saw the BOGO free deal for Virtuous Pie, I *had* to get over here. This place is known for making vegan pizzas but they do other dishes too besides vegan pizza. To be honest, I came here once to try their pizza. The pizza was decent but I wasn't blown away by it. In terms of taste, I thought it was pretty good. However, I felt that the vegan cheese they used had a bit too much oil in it. The pizza was a bit too greasy for my taste. What drew me in about the plant based deal though was that it could be used for other dishes; not just their pizza. The dish that I had my eye on was the Vegan Mac n Cheese skillet. My daughter and I both love Mac n Cheese, and I am always on the lookout for a good vegan Mac n Cheese. We have tried Vegan Mac n Cheese in a few places. Not that many, but so far the ones we've tried have been decent. I would have to say though that after trying this one at Virtuous Pie, this one is my new favourite out of all the vegan Mac n Cheese dishes that we've tried! Still doesn't compare with the real thing but for a vegan Mac n Cheese...this one was pretty darn good. Love the vegan bacon bits they topped it with! It was a huge serving. I saw on the menu that there were 2 sizes to the dish but when I ordered it, the person taking our order never bothered to ask if we wanted small or large. Based on the amount in our bowl, and the amount that my bill came to, I have a feeling they gave us both the large size. Would have been nice to have been asked which size we wanted. Or if there's no choice in the size for the BOGO deal, then it would have been nice to have been informed about that. Didn't feel like squabbling about it though, and the larger size meant leftovers for the next day which meant I didn't have to worry about what to serve my daughter for lunch the next day. The taste was pretty decent for non-meat dishes. Don't expect the same usual tastes but everything was well made, flavours were balanced, fresh and seasoned properly. Love this place. I used to go to the UBC location when I was a student there and was bummed when it closed, but now am lucky to be living closer to Chinatown so I can come here. It's great vegan food. They make their own vegan cheese and it's fantastic. It's not the most "realistic" vegan cheese but it's delicious in its own right with a great texture. They have both classic pizzas and more creative, unique flavours. Sometimes there are seasonal specials. I've loved just about every pizza I've tried. It's a thin crust but still tender. For dessert, there's a rotating selection of vegan ice creams, "cannoli", and cookies. Haven't tried the cookies yet, but the ice cream is great with interesting flavours. I feel like this is a pretty slept-on spot for vegan ice cream. The "cannoli" are actually tubular waffle cones with a cream filling, so it's not exactly the same experience as true cannoli, but still tasty and decadent. So yum and completely vegan! We ordered their walnut pesto and fungi pies along with some garlic knots and Mac n cheese. Ordering was a breeze and there was seating for all of us to feel comfortable. Things came out as they were prepped and they were all so thoughtfully done and flavored! Great experience and food - would def come back! I can't believe it took me this long to make a visit here but wow, thank you to everyone at virtuous pie for a wonderful experience and meal! The space itself is open and inviting with a clear glass view into what is going on when they make that pizza pie. The service itself is exceptional with many smiles all around and even with a fully vegan menu, it caters well to those that are either plant based already or just love good pizza! After much deliberation because it all sounded so good, I ordered the Hawaiian Summer and it was absolutely delicious! A thin, crispy and chewy crust (the best kind) topped with a light tomato sauce, cashew mozzarella, pineapples, maple bbq shreds and red onions. One of the best parts was the drizzle of bbq sauce on top that gave it a flavour boost. Overall, if you didn't tell me this pizza was vegan, I wouldn't know. This was our first time in this location. It's different than the one in Victoria - here you order at the counter and stake out a table. It's pleasant inside and not too busy on an early Friday evening. The only problem we had was that it took a while for the pizzas to come out. So long, in fact, that we had to take them to go and eat at the airport sometime between check-in and going through security. The pizzas were cold by then but still really tasty and enjoyable. Sooo many good things about our visit. The service was fabulous. We also had the most friendly and pleasant experience with the staff. The food was absolutely delicious. All three pizzas were amazing, we had a non vegan with us who ordered the supreme and couldn't believe the pepperoni wasn't real. Great quality ingredients and made fresh. As good as the pizza is, DO NOT SKIP the desserts. As a 21 year vegetarian 10yr vegan, that's one of the best chocolate chip cookies I've ever had. Loved the vibe of the place with long tables and benches to share for a communal dining or fill a table up with all your friends. My son and I shared a funghi and a Hawaiian summer. The crust was absolutely perfect - enough to hold all the toppings without feeling like you were eating too much bread. There is a thick crust and a gluten free option as well. The first time we came here, we ordered the bbq pizza and the ultra Violet pizza for take out. But when we got home, we had gotten a margarita instead of the ultraviolet. Bummer. But both pizzas were incredibly delicious especially the bbq cauliflower one! Oh my gosh we'll be craving that forever. Best pizza even before I was plant-based/vegan. We went back the next night to reorder the ultraviolet so we could taste it. They gave it to us for free because of what happened- so nice! The ultraviolet has good flavor but it was sopping wet in oil. I am not sure if that pizza is meant to be that wet and oily or if the chef was new, or there was a mistake but I would not have gone back if this was my first experience. They have still and sparkling water on tap and a huge assortment of appetizers, salads, desserts, and drinks. I wish I had been more hungry to try more different items. This is some of the best vegan pizza I've ever had. We loved the stranger wings and supreme. Stranger wings feels like it's own unique creation apart from pizza - it's amazing. Supreme feels like an incredibly good imitation of non vegan pizza. I normally hate fake cheese but both the vegan mozzarella and blue cheese were incredible (none of that weird sticky plastic stuff). This was an amazing experience having a dairy allergy. While visiting Vancouver we stopped at Virtuous Pie (we also have them in Oregon). It was delicious they have the same pizza options. We ordered the Pie-rogi which is to die for it's my favorite and an order of the garlic knots. I love the garlic knots they are seasoned so well. The pizza was delicious and has the best fake bacon on it -I really have no idea how they make it so good. The service was fast we had our appetizer in 5 minutes and our pizza in under 10 minutes. The staff was friendly and helpful. The restaurant is really cute too with nice brick walls and dividers between the tables. The lemonade flavors they had were very tasty we got raspberry and pineapple. If you had to choose go raspberry. Great overall experience and I have no complaints. I've been to this Virtuous Pie location since their very first opening and I can say I'm a huge fan. I've tried many of their items here, my favourites being the "Superfunghi" pizza, the "ultraviolet" pizza and the mac and cheese. VP does vegan food so well that it doesn't feel like what you're eating is a "vegan" version of a dish, it just tastes so good. They also use really fresh ingredients and the staff is always friendly. I like how now you can sit down and they take your order, compared to before where you had to pay at the till. When my friend decided to go vegan for the month and said we should eat here, I'll admit I was a little wary. How good could vegan pizza be? As it turns out, it's absolutely delicious; perhaps even better than your standard pizza. Making a good pizza dough is an under-appreciated skill, so I have mad respect for whoever makes the dough here. There was a perfect balance between chewy and crispy. I got the superfunghi, which was excellent, but as soon as I took a bite of my friend's mac + cheeza pie, I could not focus on anything else. I never say this about pizza, but it was to die for (AND IT WAS VEGAN!!). We also got ice cream. They have a nice selection of flavours, and the ice cream itself was delicious, but it paled in comparison to the pizza. Best vegan pizza place! We drank the zero proof chaser and ginger soda, both were refreshing. The mushroom pizza was top but we absolutely loved sgt pepperoni! This pizza was slightly spicy and the "pepperoni" was really yummy. The regular crust was thin and crispy. This restaurant is located right next to Fan Tan, great service and a well lit, pleasant place. We also got their vegan ice cream, honestly we could not tell that the raspberry cheesecake was dairy free! OMG SO GOOD!!! I never knew vegan pizza could be this delicious :P My friend and I ordered the super funghi and the grandma. I preferred the grandma because it was flavourful, creamy and unexpectedly satisfying (didn't miss dairy cheese at all). The funghi was good, but I felt it needed a bit more oomph (so I covered it in almond "parmesan"). The almond parmesan definitely helped, but next time I might see if I can add toppings to the grandma. I think the grandma with mushrooms would be heavenly. A few other notes: the atmosphere was stylish, with large group tables meant for sharing with strangers. Which fostered a nice community environment. Wouldn't do an intimate date there, but great for friendly hangouts. The staff were polite and friendly. The washroom was massive...just wish there was more than one washroom. Update: Almost a year since my last visit, I was able to go back for more vegan icecream. They were out of the gluten free waffle cones-- oh no!! Went to explore Chinatown today, and did a quick Yelp search for gluten free food before I left. I am SO glad I did, because it led me to Virtuous Pie! I saw they had a gluten free waffle cone and vegan ice cream and knew I HAD to go there! I found the shop pretty easily as we walked the streets. There was a sign on the door saying their AC was broken, and it was quite warm inside. But the smell of pizza and allure of vegan ice cream prompted me inside. They had about five ice cream options today, and I couldn't quite decide, so I went with two scoops of ice cream in a gluten free waffle cone. I got a matcha and coconut scoop and a mint and dark chocolate scoop. You guys. I cannot say enough good things about this ice cream! It was SO tasty! The mint and dark chocolate was by far my favorite. Oh, I could eat pints and pints of that! The matcha was pretty good, too. And the waffle cone? Perfection. I can't even tell you the last time I could walk into a place and grab an ice cream cone! Next time I'm in Vancouver, I know exactly where I'm headed for a treat! So yummy!! I ordered the forager and absolutely loved it. I really enjoyed how they were accommodating to all dietary restrictions and made it in a healthy way (often fake meat is made with chemicals and these were made out of chickpeas). So good and definitely will come back. read more

I'm not vegan, but I came here with a friend who is. On a Thursday night, it was crowded! The communal tables were gull of couples and groups of friends, but we were lucky enough to snag a table. The tables are stocked with vegan cheese and red pepper flakes, napkins and olive oil. You order at the register and wait for your order. The menu is pretty large, there are about 10 pizzas to choose from. There are also a couple of daily salad choices. I got the mushroom one, which is topped with arugula. It was good... I mean i can't really compare it to anything other than regular pizza though.... They offer regular water and sparkling water on tap, like serve yourself style. I've never seen sparkling water served this way before, so that's kind of cool. They also offer vegan ice cream, but we saw two other groups at a different ice cream place after. This is definitely a popular place to go in Vancouver if you're vegetarian, vegan or gluten free! read more

This awesome pie I've (still...!) yet to savor but I've definitely seen the goods in action observing the open busy kitchen and customers aplenty. So, until I evennntually try the pizza, I have tried the squash salad last winter and the gluten-free waffle cone as a snack (both for eating on the train ride home). The salad was nice with a great balanced flavor; if anything I'd prefer a bit more squash chunks. This is a great place for vegan pizza, one of the best I would say! It can get quite busy on the weekends and you may have to wait 15-20 mins for your pizza. Everything is freshly made and it's really light. I would say it's more like a flatbread than an actual pizza since it's not as saucy and cheesey. Can't believe I'm saying this, but gluten-free food doesn't have to suck. Also, the gentrification of Chinatown continues. Parking is really awful here. Try the side streets to the E of this place. The inside just screams Hipster. Nice and modern feel, with plenty of wood and concrete. The place is quite cramped, but that really just means business is doing well. There is a small outside patio in addition to the normal seating area. The ordering counter is on the far end, with the pickup counter at the near end. My friend and I stood around like idiots for a few minutes until we finally spotted the cash register. They really need to put up signs. Guessing they did this because of the sheer number of The pizzas are of the thin crust (Neopolitan) style. The baking is done quite well in that there was no liquid pooling at the bottom. Great taste. The crusts also taste almost non gluten-free. Usually I can tell in a fraction of a second that something is gluten-free, but they do something right here. Meatball + chevre - the meatballs aren't meat but actually come pretty close to the real deal. The tomatoes are great. Just the right amount of cheese. Covered in basil. Superfunghi - somehow they can make potatoes look and taste like cheese. Light spininch sprinkled over everything. Sparkling water is also available instead of just regular water. Special mention. Visited the ubc location as we had our furry daughter with us. She was allowed to dine in with us on the patio. Here is what we ordered. It wasn't as bad as I thought. I tried everything the majority of the people on yelp recommended and it wasn't to shabby. I was definitely full as heck and the kambucha was delicious down to the dessert. It is self serve type of feel where you get your own water and cutlery and bring your own dishes back. Fav was the mushroom pizza and the Thai ice cream. This was a feast for two and it was more than enough as we had to get food to go. Our furry daughter even had a little sample of the vegan Mac by accident ‍ it's a nice near spot.
