Holy smokes. How did I not know about this. I just had the most delectable pizza that happens to be vegan. Had staff lunch and a college ordered Hawaiian and Vegan Pepperoni with Jalapeños & Olive Pizza. Both were so flavourful, loaded and not greasy. The crust isn't your standard and it held up to the one hand a slice to face momentum easily, it's so meticulous loaded and thought out, one could really consume a slice in one hand and a beverage in another while standing. I prefer the regular crust, but had a friend who was allergic to gluten so the chickpea gluten free crust is a great option as well. My roommate is vegan, so we order from here a lot. I normally don't even like vegan pizza, cuz the texture seems off and the cheese tastes weird to me. However, pizza from here is a different story. This honestly tastes like normal pizza! It's so good! Love their Hawaiian the best. Even more than pizza though, I love their Greek dishes. My favourite is the Spanakopita meal. I was skeptical at first due to the poor reviews, but I recently "converted" to becoming a vegan and I really wanted pizza so I gave it a try! I ordered the seafood pizza and the ham and pineaplle pizza, but small. I made my pizza crust gluten free due to allergies and also ordered a beef donair! I liked it! Not sure why the reviews were so poor, but I had the right amount of toppings, cheese and it was delicious. The gf crust is very different than most regular pizza stores. Their crust is really thin, like a tortilla wrap. I'm not complaining though because if you've ever tried gluten free crust, you would know how horrendous it can taste The beef donair was soooo good!! It had little bits of fake meat, lettuce and some vegan mayo or ranch sauce which was quite liquidy, it also comes with onions, but I don't like onions. Their chicken donair comes with tomatos. But I was super inflammed after eating half due to it not being gluten free. Overall, this place is good and I will order from here again! read more

4 Stars There is street parking on Kingsway outside of rush hour, and more around the surrounding residential area. First impressions, it's a tiny hole in the wall place. They crammed a couple of tables in the small area. We are not vegan, but wanted to try a healthier pizza option. We ordered: Combo #6 - any large 3 topping pizza, large lasagna, 2pcs garlic bread, tossed salad. ($29.95) Pizza - super thin crust so its floppy, i personally liked the chewy texture of the crust. It was really good. Lasagna - the vegan meat sauce was different, still tasty though. Garlic bread - slices were not consistent, not overly buttered like a lot of other places. Tossed salad - the dressing was really good. Service was ok. Took the person working the cash register a while to figure out how much change I should get back. I really wish I could eat here, being one of the few vegan pizza places in town. Unfortunately, I have witnessed disturbingly unsanitary kitchen practices and the pizza itself is mediocre. The place is clearly severely understaffed, I have seen only one person working the entire thing, which makes sense why my order has been delivered an hour late before. There's never enough cheese on the pizza and the vegan chicken and ham they use taste disgusting. I saw the manager come out of the kitchen wearing gloves he was clearly cooking in, ring up the order and handle money, and then go back into the kitchen and continue handling food with the same dirty gloves. That's the equivalent of not washing your hands and definitely killed my appetite. The whole kitchen looked dingy and unclean and one of the few tables in the restaurant had dirty dishes on them. Euugh. As a person who can't eat the wheat, I totally commiserate with those who choose not to eat the meat -- I get it, I like those little critters too. Also, I tend to eat mostly vegetarian at home anyway, so it's no big leap to get me a veggie pie when the gluten-free variety is available. Vegan, on the other hand, I mostly just can't get down with. Anything that parades around pretending to be something it's not just doesn't sit well with me... or with my stomach, for that matter. But I'm an open-minded girl (also: slightly lazy), so when I found out that Vegan Pizza House delivered AND had an option for the glutarded, my fingers couldn't dial that number fast enough. Now if only they were that fast delivering the actual pizza, but that's another story. This story is about the saddest pie that was ever made. Now, it's a rare day in robin-land when half a pizza sits in the fridge, untouched, for over a week, but this one was *that* unappetizing. The crust was more like cornbread (not crispy, not chewy, but more of an odd sponge-like texture), and the toppings were so lame. SO LAME. I get it, Daiya cheese isn't something they can control (as an aside, it is official: I don't do Daiya), but look: if you're going to do vegan food and nothing more, then you'd better have some rillyrilly fresh, beautiful veggies for your pies. But no, not here - I got the Garden Special, and it looked as though it came from the saddest garden that ever lived. And what's with the canned pre-sliced olives? Eugh. I am not a vegan. Actually, I'm not even close to being a vegan. If you talk to any of my friends, you'll know that I like the concept of being vegan, but I could never give up steak or other delicious, meaty foods. Thus, the fact that I find the vegan pizza here delicious should serve as a testament to just how good their food is. Their pizza crust is hands down some of the best that I've ever had, and I don't usually consider crust to be the selling point of a pizza for me. Furthermore, their fake meat toppings are surprisingly tasty as well. As for the ambience of the place, the service was good but the interior design could use a little work and modernization. I found this place when I googled "Vegan gluten-free pizza Vancouver" and found this place. The gluten-free crusts at Boston Pizza and Me n Ed's were not options since neither place provides soy cheese and the crusts contain eggs (I developed an egg sensitivity). Friday afternoon, I went there and ordered a gluten-free medium pizza topped with spinach, tomatoes, onion and hot peppers. I took it home and it was surprisingly good. The crust was a bit tough on the edges but the toppings were plentiful and the cheese/sauce mix was ooey gooey! I shared some of it with my gluten-free neighbor and she loved it! I even gave her a flyer so she knows where to get it. I recommend this place for its friendly service (for now it's best to take out or eat in) and good pizza. read more

Thank you for being at the the 2017 Veg Expo! I finally had the opportunity to try this pizza and I'm so happy I did! I ordered a take and bake Vegan Meat Lover (Vegan Ham, Chicken, Capicollo, Sausage, Bacon, Ground Beef) gluten free! It was $17 for a small (add $2 for gluten free crust). The crust is super thin and quite strong. There is a lot of toppings and it withheld it all. Light cheese which is perfect because the main event, the "meat" is so delicious. The flavours mimic that is real meat, the spices and the texture was such a treat. I cannot wait to go back here again!! read more

I had passed this place on Kingsway many, many times in the past 5 months and hadn't stopped in until now - mostly because I was transitioning to a raw vegan diet. As I have settled for a near raw vegan diet, an occasional cooked treat will be in order. Pizza is a pretty healthy food in general, and when vegan, even better. Over the years I've eaten many pizzas at traditional places, just without cheese, and it's been alright. The pizzas we had tonight here, though, were excellent - both when compared to other pizzerias we've tried, and making them ourselves. We had 2 - the Cooks Special and the Vegan Meat Lover (although I'm not typically a substitute meat lover kinda vegan). Both were very tasty, light and topped with Daiya cheese. I'm not a huge fan of substitute cheeses, either, especially Daiya, but it was just right on top. As well, the staff were very friendly, helpful and courteous all the way along. And the atmosphere was nice - very pizza shop! You can tell they are excited about the food they are making and are continually trying to improve. They do have gluten-free crust options (which we would usually have, but didn't notice at first) for those who need to eat gluten-free. Although we didn't have any dessert this time, the selections in the dessert case looked scrumptious (chocolate peanut butter pucks, gluten free lemon cheesecake, a couple of other cakes) and we know one of the suppliers who often brings in her vegan desserts, which are fantastic. This is one of those places I would recommend for pizza, whether vegan or not. And, the prices were not prohibitive, considering you're getting a healthier meal. read more

We found out about this place by the Chinese woman at one of the vegetarian stores in Crystal Mall (in Burnaby). She said her brother or son, can't remember which, owns the restaurant; she gave us a menu. I was expecting a Chinese version of pizza, especially since there were lots of interesting menu items and topping choices. Well, I guess that expectation turned out to be true, as there were some common menu items that people in the Asian community enjoy such as bubble tea, and the vegan meats were Asian style meat alternatives. Other than that, everything else was Western style. I was really intrigued by the Spanakopita as I hadn't had one since I gave up dairy in the early 90s. I wasn't expecting much, but I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was. The salad and flat-bread that came with it were also good. We got a small Basic Cheese, which comes with extra cheese -- plenty of cheese on there! I hate when pizza places skimp on the cheese (or anything!). We also got the Vegan Meat Lovers's pizza. I thought that they needed to use better vegan meats, such as Yves Pepperoni, and a better vegan ham, etc., but overall it was good. The vegan sausage was put on top, but not really a good idea since it gets dried up in the oven a bit, but of course everyone wants to see it... so, if you cover everything up with the cheese, they you get people saying, "I don't see anything..." who do you please? The crust was really good. Not as good as Jim's Pizza (vegan one) in Chilliwack (9218 Young Rd. location only), but good. I noticed some Supreme Master propaganda; I find such nonsense (con-artists) offensive, and couldn't help but compare this pizza to that pizza from the other Supreme Master supporter, Loving Hut; that pizza was not good at all, and the crust was gooey and reminded me of that 2-for-one low quality stuff); Vegan Pizza House's crust is a 6-or-7/10 (compared to ALL of the pizza I've ever tried in my life, vegan or not, home-made or not). The staff were very friendly and attentive. They are a new business, and seeing the older reviews, I think they've worked out a lot of kinks since they opened. It seems to basically be operated by some quite young and enthusiastic people, so hats off to them. There's seating for perhaps... ten people or so, so a nice cozy intimate hole-in-the-wall type of eatery. Everything was pretty clean and tidy, including the washroom. We stuffed ourselves, with leftovers to take home. For the three of us that cost $47. We'll be back. read more

Just arrived here at 1210. Yelp and the hours on the door clearly state that the business opens at 11:00 every day. There is no one here and the doors are locked. I made this trip from New Westminster to eat here based on the reviews. Save yourself the trouble and don't bother. An unreliable business is no business worth supporting. Absolutely delicious, and cheap, vegan pizzas! I've ordered a Hawaiian + Special vegetarian slices the first time, and I loved it so I came back another day. Unfortunately, the Hawaiian and the Vegetarian special are the only ones they sell per slice, and if you want something else you'll have to buy a full pizza. So, I decided to order a pizza which was half "Meat Lover" and half "Seafood" to take home with me and refrigerate some slices. A real delight...so good I ate it all to myself for dinner... The place is also really small, it seems like there's always only one person working there. I wish they grow bigger and are able to offer more choices to buy per slice. read more

Whenever, we are driving through the Kingsway area, I always get several pizzas at the Vegan Pizza House. So good to have a pizza feast after a hike or a long trip. My favourite is the one with eggplants, zucchinis smothered in a creamy sauce. "Ham" and pineapple pizza is great, too. However, if you are in downtown, then you are now outside the delivery zone. Gone are the days of delicious vegan pizza in the West End and downtown. read more

I'm not a vegan, I just love pizza. That being said, the Vegan Pizza house has some of the best $2 slices your money can buy on Kingsway. Seeing as they're neighbors to my new apartment, I'll probably be adding some flavourful commentary on this review as I update my experience with their selection. Last week I had their olive and pesto pizza by the slice and the consistency was great. The daiya keeps the crust crunchy, as a lot of the cheese oil is missing. Not to mention the wonders a lactose free meal will likely do for my digestion... It's truly a unique experience getting a slice without any animal products, and since I prefer vegetarian pizza anyways I'll probably be coming back! read more

DELIVERY Listen: the pizza was great. Really, it was delicious. I've never had vegan pizza of this calibre. It reminded me of the pizza I ate when I was a kid. Doughy crust, deliciously ungourmet toppings, melty cheese. The ham they use tastes like I remember Pizza Hut ham tasting! Mind you, it has been a while. We tried the All Dress pineapple-mushroom-ham pizza and it was incredible. I want another one. Vegetarian Special was pretty good too, but nothing mindblowing. Unfortunately, the rest of the experience was subpar. First of all, while the menu says there's an eat-in discount, really what it is is a delivery charge. I paid $40 for two large pizzas. To add to that, the delivery guy couldn't figure out how to charge my credit card. Said it wouldn't work. Then, we tried my friend's card, and it "wouldn't work" either. Funny that both of our cards were broken. We had to run out and get cash and by the time the pizza arrived we'd waited more than 1.5 hours. Plus, my friend got a $0.01 charge on his card even though we paid cash. As good as the food is, I feel like these guys need to figure out how the rest of the restaurant business works - customer service and understanding their machinery. I probably will not order delivery again. I might visit the storefront at some point, but my experience was too frustrating for me to want to repeat it. STOREFRONT So after my mediocre delivery experience, I decided to visit Vegan Pizza House's location on Victoria and Kingsway. The completely uncharming little space was not impressive, but I have an open mind. I understand that it's difficult to design a totally contemporary-cool restaurant on a budget. I do think that the space has loads of potential that is not even remotely being used. Anyway, my friend Jared and I decided to split a combo - a small three-topping pizza, lasagna, salad, and garlic toast for $17. We got loads of food - and the pizza, as I mentioned above, is delicious. We went for sundried tomato, mushroom, and artichoke pizza. Wow, it was so good. Perfect crust, a great amount of Daiya cheese, and good toppings. The lasagna reminded me of the frozen ones my uncle would buy from the store when I was a kid and he was taking care of us while my parents were out of town. It was tomato sauce, ground "beef", noodles, and daiya. I would not call it lasagna, but I guess it's like the stuff pizza delivery places do. Salad was iceberg lettuce with thousand island dressing. Garlic toast was tasty but, well, it's bread soaked in garlic oil. And it was orange somehow. All of the dishes were disposable. Everything we got. When we asked for water, it was in a paper cup. The forks and knives were plastic. Oh, it made me so sad. :( When it came time to pay, I, ready with my debit card, was informed their machine was out of paper and they couldn't accept any cards. Oh brother. Luckily my lunch date had brought cash! VERDICT VPH, your pizza is SERIOUSLY SO GOOD, but you need to address every other aspect of the business. Professionalism, preparation, environmental friendliness, and design are also important considerations when running a business. Again, I will say that I want you to succeed. I want Vancouver to continue having this awesome vegan pizza around. But please, PLEASE address these issues. For someone like myself who so desperately wants to open a vegan restaurant, seeing people try SO half-heartedly makes me sad. read more

On one hand, I think it is absolutely fantastic that not only do we have a vegan pizza place, but a vegan pizza place with tons of "veggie meat" toppings, gluten free crust, and all for cheaper than most chain pizza places! Me: Hi, is this the Vegan Pizza House? Him: Yes. Me: Maybe you should say that when you answer! *places order* 2. The pizza itself - Okay, it tasted pretty good! Now there should be a disclaimer that if you love meat and cheese, you're not going to like this pizza. Vegan pizza isn't dairy pizza, They come from different worlds! We got the 'ham' and pineapple on gluten free crust. Now, everything tasted very good! But it was so incredibly difficult to eat that we barely made it through. I am honestly not sure what their 'crust' is but I am ninety-percent serious when I say I think it is just deep fried corn meal/polenta. It is definitely cornmeal based but it's basically carmelized from oil/heat and I think that may be how they get it to stick together. It was incredibly hard and so oily that I still have an upset stomach the next day. That being said, I will definitely be giving them another shot in hopes this was just a flukey pizza (though I would have taken one look at it and made another, rather than sending it out.). This is a small cash only pizza joint at Victoria and Kingsway. Great prices and there is a discount if you pickup your pizza. We had the Cooks Special. The pizza was gooey with daiya "cheese", the crust was fresh and the toppings plentiful. I am not a vegan, but can't eat dairy, so usually pizza is not an option for me. This was a great find. Shocking. I ordered 1 large Gourmet for delivery at 7pm on am early Friday night. The man taking the order quoted 45 minutes to an hour. I live 1 km away. The pizza arrived at 8:30pm. When I called at 8:20pm, a different male employee stated that the driver had "just left" and it might be another 30 minutes. He then chuckled nervously and said "sorry". The pizza arrived, and continued to make this experience unpleasant. The crust and the bottom was burnt. Not slightly burnt. It was stuck to the parchment paper below burnt. Half the pizza was not edible. I wish I could post pics on Yelp to show it. My thought is.. a specialty pizza joint shouldn't really be burning their pizzas, let alone letting them go out to be sold for $20. This is the second purchase I have made from this location. The first was 6 months ago, where the pizza delivery was slightly delayed but the pizza was edible. I love the idea of a vegan/veggie pizza place like this. But this experience has ruined any chance of a repeat order in the future. Which makes me sad. read more

I found out about this place 'cause another Yelper reviewed it and it appeared on the front page of this site, therefore, added to my hit list. I am not a vegetarian or vegan, however, appreciate all types of food. I can't believe that this place is so close by to home and they offer gluten free which is a huge plus which means I can have my pizza and eat it to. Extra plus points 'cause you can have your pizza both gluten free and vegan for a healthier option. They deliver in my area which is a bonus point #3. Now I don't have to feel left out when everyone else orders normal pizza. General disclaimer: Vegan anything takes some time to get used to. "Fake" meats in general and vegan soy cheese for first timers are sometimes a turn off. In all fairness it took me a while to get into Daiya. I tried it earlier this year at Chomp and was pleased with it and it's growing on me as a dairy free alternative. You can buy pre-made pizza by slice for $2.05. I bought a small tofu chicken vegan gluten free pizza with the bill coming to $13.15 which isn't that bad for what it is. The crust is thin so you feel light but satisfied. It is also forgiving on the Weight Watchers points for those who are counting. I saved the other half for lunch. I don't recommend dining in, there is no ambiance. The place isn't meant to accommodate sit down patrons as it is a take away place. While you're waiting for your pizza you can stare at the poster of celebs that are vegan and celebrate with Moby that you're making the right choice (insert PETA PSA here). Having recently injured my back I've found myself on my ass and relying on deliveries to live, but as I don't want to end up airlifted into a piano-box coffin, I decided to only order vegan pizza. We accidentally gave the delivery boy one too many twenty dollar bills. He returned after noticing the over payment. Our favourite pizzas are Meatlovers, House Special, Greek and All-Dressed. My go-to for vegan take out in Vancouver! They have a wide range of vegan pizzas which fulfills all my junky pizza cravings. I like that they have toppings comparable to the usuals that you would find with non-vegan pizza (ie. Plain Cheese, Meat Lovers, Hawaiian...). Their pizza is greasy goodness. Decided to order Mediterranean pizza and 2 bubble teas. The young man working took awhile to acknowledge we walked in for about 5 mins. It got very busy, a line up started and the young man was on the phone. After 25 mins he comes out with our pizza . We ask how much longer for our bubble tea . He says 5 mins. We finally get our bubble teas and they have bits of crunchy chunks in it! Didn't seem blended properly! On the positive the pizza was ok! But that's about it! Let me begin by saying that I am very reticent about calling this a, "review". Perhaps Yelp should think about creating a, "Warning" section for moments like these. For me, to eat or be VEGAN, whether by choice or because of dietary necessity requires a certain diligence. Often it is very difficult to acquire the proper nutrition the body requires when working with vegetarian and vegan options. Vegan Pizza House is like a teenager deciding to become a vegan and then depending on toast for their three meals a day because creating anything else in the kitchen would be too hard. That said, if you are vegan and just miss the idea of the kind of pizza you might have had after a night of drinking and you now feel left out every time you pass by a window with the coveted 99 cent slice advertised then maybe this is for you. The pizza was 80% dough, (so your toast intake is covered here) 18% oil, (I think they may be calling it cheese but as far as I could discern this so called cheese was made mostly of vegetable oil, mayonnaise, artificial flavour and salt or something of the like) and the leftover 2% was made up of soggy, unappetizing toppings. But my decision to write was not due to the food. The customer service here is absolutely awful. in short, if you'd like to give this pizza a shot and you're thinking delivery, (and for all of us vegans out there, I know the idea of pizza delivery is a little foreign and very much titillating) give yourself a bit of time to prepare yourself after you've made your order. Honestly, you might want to think about calling at lunch time if you wanted to eat at say, 6 o'clock. Okay, I may be exaggerating a bit but no joke, the pizza came over two hours after we made our order. Was it warm?- No. Was it even fully cooked?- No. Probably a good thing it showed up cold as it allowed us to reheat it in the oven and cook the dough all the way through. (As I mentioned, there's a lot of dough here.) About an hour and a bit into our wait we decided that it wasn't coming. We thought about going out, (even though we were very set to stay in). The problem was that when we called to ask about the whereabouts of our food and to cancel our order we not only didn't get to speak to anyone, we were actually hung up on.... twice! When he finally arrived, the delivery boy was very uninterested and could care less about my complaint as I spoke to him. He actually made excuses!! "We had six deliveries before you and another two after." I'm still not sure what he meant by that but it seemed to me like his statements had been rehearsed. I would be remiss if I didn't include the fact that my girlfriend finally got a call from the owner the next day. While he wasn't good enough to answer the phone when we wanted our missing order, he did have the time to call the next day to ask for the proper credit card number for our order as he had misheard it the night before. Our complaints were heard at that point- he did not care. He just wanted his money. If you want vegan pizza- go to Gorilla Foods. If you want oil on dough, you know who to call. I have always ordered pizza from here which is quite good, but today i tried the souvlaki platter and it was amazing. I ordered the beef and it was delish. Meat eating bf loved it too. So well seasoned and good texture. Now i am looking forward to trying the donairs and baked lasagnas. read more

How can words honestly describe my feelings towards this heaven pizzeria in Vancouver? First of all, I'd like to mention I had never gone to Loving Hut Pizza, so I'm not going to be comparing the two, obviously. As someone who has tried their far share of vegan pizzas, I can say that the junky Vegan Pizza Joint is truly making the BEST. Loaded with daiya and an epic array of toppings, from every vegan meat on the market, to loaded veggie, this pizza is truly divine. Also keep in mind that I'm in love with daiya, but even if you're only a semi-fan, this will put you over the edge. I just went there today, again, and now they have new items I just HAD to try. Vegan Donairs. Yes, you read that write. Beef, chicken, or both. I personally chose the chicken, and man was it beyond what I was expecting. A delicious marinated vegan chicken, with Greek vegan tsaziki, tomatoes, and lettuce, wrapped in a great soft pita. Next time, I'd gone far enough to say I'd skip the pizza JUST for the donair. They also now have vegan bubble tea, which makes me so pleased as I was a big fan of the cruelty inducing original. The Banana-Soya with Mango jelly was to die for. I also love the vegan caesar they whip up. It takes great and comes with a delicious warm garlic bread. Yum.... Just a note on service. They have great employees, but not many of them, so it's slow as molasses. Expect an hour for delivery, and half that just in house. Notice that my stars are still at 5. I have eaten here numerous times so you can trust this review. Soup: very tasty! Desserts: very tasty and great selection! Salads: good. Pizza: Sometimes very good. Depends on personal taste and choice of toppings and whether freshly made. I'm not a huge fan of daiya and tend to ask for less than usual to be put on. Regular crust: This crust is absolutely fine, but crust on a pizza is a big part of what makes one place more popular than another, so although it is fine, more R&D would not be wasted. Martini's has an excellent whole wheat crust, for example, and it's a popular place, not a health food place, so whole wheat can be done successfully. Gluten-free crust: It's great that they have it but I think it still needs more R&D. Donairs: If you like a lot of veganaise, they are okay. Service: Almost all staff are friendlier here than at other places. Some staff are A-1. Others score A-1 in trying to be helpful and being genuinely sweet but some significant problems due to language and training. I would suggest those with language difficulties just not handle the phone. Overall, this place is a gem! The atmosphere is really good for such a small place and that is largely due to the extremely positive attitude of the staff. The prices are also great! yes, sweet heavens yes. I don't like a lot of "fake meats". I usually only have them when I have a craving for my old eating habits...but since going back to vegetarian...then vegan....I have made a few faux pizzas at home. When you have something that you used to have, but isn't exactly the same, you're still pretty happy to have it at all. I was a little hungover, and wanted pizza, and just straight up googled vegan pizza. I don't know how I didn't know about this place!!! Yes, it took just over an hour to come, but I really could care less, I just know to give myself more time when ordering for next time! They delivered, and that made me happy. Anything good is worth the wait. The guy on the phone was funny. He suggested the Veggie supreme or deluxe or whatever, and HE WAS RIGHT! Holy cramoly it was soooo good. Tried the hawaiian as well, meh, fake meat is fake meat. I love Daiya cheese, so it was the perfect amount. Can't wait to try other things on the menu! I'd like it for the crust to be a bit thinner, but the crust was still delicious. Now if they had that yummy vegan ranch I like too..... I will order from here again.
