For about 3 solid years I frequented this establishment and at first it was ok. Then the beer started tasting stale and the food has never been good. The service is horrible and so is the layout. But this place does have some charm to it. It's in a great place they usually have live music. They have so much potential but I think the management is lacking responsibility. TO GIVE U A REAL IDEA OF WHAT VISALIA BREWING COMPANY. MEANS TO LOCALS ON A LATE NIGHT " $2 DRAFT TUESDAY" READ THIS!! MAYBE YOU LL AGREE WITH WHY I MAY NEVER PARTY HERE AGAIN?! The place gets really crowded especially on Tuesdays on or before the Holidays, in my particular case...New Years Eve. Parking was ridiculous. The bar was packed but they were not short staff, nor Bartenders. You can try ordering at the bar but I dare you not...bad experience!! Let me, explain there is the bar that doubles as a "hall way". "It's crazy crowded!" Cinco De Mayo of this year I was pinned up against the bar and the wrestling of men in the pursuit of getting a drunk man out of the building! I did notice that there was about to be trouble!... but with a bar in front of me and a wall in back of me, I was kind of forced chest pressed up against the bar screaming! I screamed for help! I needed air! Embarrassing, but I was okay! Excuse the digression, back to the Tuesday night before New Years, the reason why I hate the VBC bar now, lol. Aside from the bar there is a cash register, a person that takes your orders which is a Bartender (God Bless them), and ergo a line that works beautifully! You get in, you get outm and it's great! You don't have any worries with crowds or uncivilized people! It's another option to odering your drinks other then at the bar!! The crowded bar problem solved... Last night my girl friend and I were next in this line, when a girl and a guy were served before us! It was such a hater move on the female bartender's part! I asserted that I was upset, kind of explained to the "new comers" or ignorant couple that there was a line and next time they should wait. The girl "new comer" put the blame on the bar tender. So, blah blah blah. I reminded the bartender that "we were next in line". She didn't give two shits like most of the staff there! "They were waiting there for a minute!"... "No", I said ,"we were in this line for a minute, they just showed up...!".... I didn't say this, but ..."RESPECT THE LINE WILL YA!" I did remind her that there was a line, "You do realize that this is a line?!" blah blah blah and she reasoned "YES I DO," she said, "I F*%$*EN WORK HERE!" So, blah blah blah at this point she starts pacing to the bar and back to the to the register, I wait...Ask her if she can serve me a shot, because I have only ever ordered beer at that location, (I know kind of ignorant, but why not) Plus, in a eairler convo with the guys in back of us it was unclear if you could in fact order shots right there. blah blah blah...More pacing, I wait, she comes back... I ordered, CAN I HAVE A F*%#@EN SHOT THEN". MORE PACING! SHE REFUSES ME SERVICE! EMBARRASSING! AT THIS POINT I HAVE A FEW OF THE STAFF, STANDING THERE, STARRING AT ME!! The Manager, my girl friend, and I all out side at this point. Our whole two dollars each was refunded nack to us! Not our night! Why would I ever go back there again?! I am the rowdy, skinny shot orderer-girl who gets escorted out of the bar in front of her town! Speaking to the manger did not make me feel any better... he didn't give two shits, didn't even know what happened before he explained that in this kind of business on busy nights there are all sorts of rude people. $2 Tuesday's are now $5 entrance && only some beers are $2 the 2 I chose were $5 & $5.50 ... Uhhh... I understand the cover blah blah blah there is now karaoke but I pretty much spent $10 for A beer.. No longer an easy, quick & tasty spot. read more

Food is now excellent, beer selection has never been better. However, due to a lack of due diligence on the part of ownership and not investing in better refrigeration the possibility of getting a not so cold beer is very high, send it back! read more

Soon as you enter the door you will get the aroma of Piss/urine/pee, and sometimes it smells like ass as well. At night time it gets crowded so you have to wait for ever to order a beer and use the restroom. It's a slim long hallway which you have to bump into people left and right front and back, hold your cup tight. The security guards are rude and have an attitude. Music sucks. Never tried their food, but wouldn't want to eat around a place that smells like Piss. However they do have a big variety of beer taps. Had too many bad experiences here. Rather go to other local bars (BrewBakers, CellarDoor, Crawdaddys, Rookies). read more

My relative was beat bad because he was denied entry into this bar. He was taken out in the alley and beat until he was choked out. I called to talk to the owner and the manager (JR Guerra) refused to give me his info as well as the bouncers that beat my relative nearly to death. He yelled at me raised his voice even after he admited that his bouncers beat him. This is not the first time this bar has done such of thing. And it's really sad because my realitive will never get justice. Instead of the Manger being polite and listening to me all he did was over talk me to protect their bar. Visalia is suppose to be a safe place but not at the VBC I do not recommend this bar. read more

I've been to this bar at least 15 times before this bullshit happened.. So... As of last night I decided to go to vbc with two friends, we had been at the bar for about 30 minutes and out of no where the guy next to me freaked out and said I threw up on his leg, he started yelling at me and then one of the security guards came up to us and automatically took his side. I spent roughly 10 minutes trying to defend myself which lead to practically nothing. The bartender at the time time had my back 100% and even defended me but I was still forced to leave against my will by one of the guards. The security at vbc was absolute garbage. I hope my issue gets addressed because I felt completely discriminated against. You better watch yourselves because next time I'm not just going to write a review. Decided to try the Visalia Brewing Company for lunch with some friends. Worst mistake I ever made. Stood at the bar to order a beer while I waited for my group and was not acknowledged by the person in the corner on the computer, did not see anyone else behind the bar. Finally the bartender came out from the kitchen area and took my order. My friend showed up and wanted to start a lunch tab, the bartender said he had to give her his credit card to hold, he said he wouldn't do that because he didn't want his credit card out of his possession. The bartender immediately got an attitude.The last of our party showed up and we decided to move to a table to order lunch, ordering a round of beers, the bartender asked me if I wanted the same beer I ordered before and I said yes. She then poured three of the same kind of beers, which was not the kind I ordered, I told her my order was wrong,and the attitude came back as she dumped it out, she then poured the right beer and set it in front of me without saying a word. I said thank you and I got a sarcastic " You Bet ". I could feel the contempt from her and the enjoyable lunch we were going to have was not going to happen. I then decided to take my friends to " Rookies " just down the street and had a fantastic lunch with fast and friendly service. I am a retired person who has dined at almost all the downtown restaurants in Visalia and this is the most unwelcome I have ever felt, and also the only time I did not leave a tip. I will recommend to everyone I know to not patronize the Visalia Brewing Company ever. If you would like to have lunch and a brew go to "Rookies" or "Brewbakers", stay away from "Visalia Brewing Company". read more
