Had a second opinion with a different provider and was offered contacts for astigmatism. I called Dr Anderson to ask why I wasn't offered astigmatism contacts and was told by the doctor, it's slight astigmatism but will offer the next time. I said, that's fine for the next time, I just don't understand why I wasn't offered during my trial period and he said he doesn't offer if it's slight but he will the next time and then HUNG UP. This isn't how you treat a patient if they have a question about their health care so I suggest people find a different provider if they expect to be treated professionally. read more

Very bad experience. Nothing against the people- doctor Scot is funny and staff is polite, but most importantly they don't know how to respond to their clients in a timely manner. We ordered sunglasses to add prescription but it took over a month! So ridiculous! Every time I call to follow up they give us this excuse or whatever they're working on. When asked when it'll be ready the response is always another week or so. We already paid in full though. It shouldn't take that long. If it would take long, we should be notified/ updated instead of us calling them. The receptionist responded in a nonchalant tone which made us more upset. We won't be coming back again. I purchased 3 Groupons. 1 for myself and 2 kids. I will say that the doctor and the front desk operator were very nice. Extremely friendly. That is why I am giving them 2 stars instead of 1. I am only giving them 2 stars because the Groupon states that you get $160 toward the exam frame and lenses. THAT IS NOT TRUE!!!!! I knew that I was getting an unbelievable deal. But that is why I purchase from Groupon . I have never had to pay anything extra out of pocket using Groupon. But I fully expected to pay a little more if I didn't get the cheapest frames. So I asked the assistant will it be much more than the Groupon and she said no. She [the Dr.] works with you. (Clue#1) The eye exams went well. The Doctor is thorough . I told her I wanted no line bifocals. I'm only getting reading glasses. I asked if that would be much more. She said we'll talk. (Clue#2) We go to look at frames. There are no prices on many of the frames. (Clue #3) We chose frames. I sat down for the calculations. The assistant asked me how much I paid for the Groupon. (Clue#4) I asked are there different prices on the Groupons? She said no, whatever you paid for the Groupon will apply it to the total. (Cue#5) That's not how Groupon works. So I told her what I paid and she said she woud deduct that from my full amount. When she was done calculating she went and asked the doctor about the pricing for us. (Clue #5) And she gave me some sort of additional discount. So she comes back and tells me my total is $525 for the 3 pair of glasses!!!! I was stunned. I asked her why and she could not explain it. So she went to ask the doctor and didn't come back with a good explanation. She stated that this was a good dea for what I was getting. Stating that 2 pair were designer frames. One pair was Champion! Not Rayban. Champion is in no way shape or form designer. The other was Nicole Miller. My glasses alone were $189 (FOR A PAIR OF READING GLASSES!!!!) You can get in the Nicole Miller reading glasses in a pack 3 for $10 at Marshalls or TJ Maxx. Heck, you can get 2 pair of complete glasses with eye exam at America's Best for $89!!!!! I understand if the Groupon may cause them to lose money. I understand business. However, you need to sell your Groupon for a higher price and not say that you'll get $160 toward exam frame and lenses. That's called the old bait and switch.. it is unethical. The more I think about it the more ticked off I get. Frankly you can go anywhere and pay $189 for eye exam frame and lenses. You don't need to buy a Groupon to pay that much for a pair of reading glasses or any basic glasses for that matter. I asked for my prescription and left. I did not feel that this business deserved any more of my money because of their unethical practices. It's a shame because they could really do well by just telling the truth. read more

I have visited the location for more than 5 times, each time, I encountered a different person that doesn' seem to know anything. I purchase two new glasses from here and stated that I wanted the same type of frames I had on file( transparent and anti scratch and to add rf), when I picked up my first pair I noticed it was plain with only rf, but I was promised I would get what I payed for but when I came to pick up my second pair and told them they messed up I was denied proper assistance and was given only attitude . Whoever the guy in the plaid button up and scruffy gray beard is, is incompetent and should not be working with customers, he would not fix it and denied I said that I wanted that coating. This is unacceptable and if I was you I would record and document everything you say to these people, they are there for money grabbing and not for us, they lost a good customer, i will not be returning. read more

I am so happy and satisfied with how today's appointment went! From start to finish the staff was very welcoming and friendly! Doctor Hung and Doctor Scot definitely know how to chose their team! A big thank you to Kiera for helping me choose a final frame, after looking at I would say 38 different frames (: haha finally. The staff really was patient with me and allowed me to view as many frames as I felt I needed to. They never rushed me (: that really made the 2 hours I spent there feel less than 2 hours. WEIRD is the word that I would use to describe this place. They have a bunch of animals posters, pictures, etc..on the wall. They have a live little frog swimming in the fish bowl also! If you do not want to waste your time, I would suggest that you pick some other optometry (there are a lot around). I guess the word "appointment" doesn't really mean that much to this place because even if we made the appointment, we had to wait for so long (yeah, we only had to wait for only an hour!) with just only one person in front of us. Like the other two reviews said, Dr. Anderson is nice with a weird sense of humor. The staff (Chino Hills location) on the other hand is a different story (I am only talking about the receptionist lady because the other guy is nice enough). She was very unprofessional because the whole time we were there waiting she was on her personal call and chatting out loud right in front of the customers and patients. I wanted to say "Can't you wait until you get off work to make personal calls or go somewhere else where the patients/customers cannot hear you and talk all you'd like" the whole time, but I knew that the visit was going to be my first and last time, so I decided not to. She was on the phone for about 35-45 minutes. I would have given a 3 or 4 stars if we did not have to wait and if we did not have to hear the lady on her personal call the whole time we were there. umm...what has happened to this place????? their service staff since i started coming here in 2009 has gone down hill. okay, i'm only going to their baldwin park location which i've been going to since I was 9. i love the doctors but they need better staff at this location. Maybe they just have a better manager at the baldwin park location. chino has horrible...slooooooooow service, what are they on?? turtle oil. my glasses have been there for close to two weeks now, and I have to call for updates & when my sister's glasses were ready they didn't even call her. on a whim, she decided to go in and they were like "oh it's been ready you're finally picking it up?"--wtf?! that breezy was lucky i didn't cooter punch her. and a previous poster mentioned it was weird...and yes the decoration is a bit odd, they share a space with a children's dental office i think...the baldwin park location is has more contemporary decor since they moved to a different office building. overall, i love the doctors (dr. hung & anderson) but their selection of frames are a bit out dated and limited. so if you're looking for something fashionable this isn't the place, but if you're looking for something affordable and practical i'd recommend Vision Mac. read more

Have been going here for quite awhile. Service has always been good. My son always comes in to tighten or fix lenses with no problem and the staff are aways helpful. Dr's are nice. Will give you free sample contacts while you wait for yours to come in. Would have put 5 stars but female optometrist would not address my eye allergies while the male optometrist did....she needs to listen to what the patient is telling her and not just brush it off. read more

Well how should I begin... It was time to get new glasses. So I decided to come to this place, thought it would be a nice thing to do. It was small but thought they would need the business. So I ordered my glasses, I had to pay $175.00 extra for the Transitions because of the glare of the sun (Can't see)I received them About 5-7 days. Picked them up and I had a accident, the part wear you put it on top of ear snapped!! So I went back( I live about 30min from there) and the guy who works there saw it and said"we can probably put some Super Glue on it" I Said "WHAT??!! I don't think so, so he told me to leave them and pick them up in 2-3 days. He also said these glasses are fragile and discontinued. (Which they didn't tell me this before I bought them)Also he wanted me to sign a paper saying if they break more or scratch it they are not liable - which that was weird. Would't they have to sign that to me‍?‍ Also they Said if they can't fix it, I would have to buy new glasses and also pay for the transitions AGAIN because insurance companies only pays 1 time a year. Well I didn't leave them, I went back to my car and called my insurance when I got home and they said- doesn't the glasses have warranty? So I called and they said they will try to fix them, come back tomorrow. Which I did, so I stayed and than this man came to me and said"I fixed them, your lucky, we had another extra frame, be careful this time, they are fragile. Also we will not charge you this time". I looked at him and said "I know, cause these glasses have warranty remember"‍ yea! NEVER will I go back there!!! I went 4 times to this place just for glasses. They are nice in the beginning but after you have a problem, they turn your back on you, No Warranty? In 2 weeks No Warranty? Yea right!!! My family still go here for check ups and glasses, they speak very highly of the Dr. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I used to go when Dan worked there he was a very nice man, after that the service went down the dr is very pushy as to what brand of contacts you should get, You literally have to beg him to let you pick your own contact lens brand. I don't even think this company deserves any stars at all. The doctors are awesome, but their staff is just incompetent people. Amazingly enough my husband and I have been going there for the past 2 years. They had better service then, but don't know what happened. Here's a tip, once you pick out your glasses, look at the price before they take it in the back. When my husband picked out his glasses, he was smart enough to look at the price before the woman went to the back. She took off the price of the glasses and when she returned to speak to my husband, she was charging $50 more for the glasses (the glasses already cost $199). As for my own personal experience, I had my glasses made 3 weeks ago and I still haven't gotten it back. Got my eyes checked, found the glasses and had it ordered. My insurance didn't cover my frame, because it cost $245. I had transition put on it. When I came to pick it up, two weeks after they ordered it for me. I asked about the transition, funny thing, they NEVER DID IT, even though I paid for it already. Sure enough they had to send it back and get the transition on it. She put it as a RUSH, but it's not a RUSH if I'm still waiting for it 1 week after. So this is my 3rd week waiting for my glasses. And they said that it would arrive at their store on Thursday. So that would be almost one month for me waiting for my glasses. Do not go to this place if you need your glasses right away, you'll get from Wal-Mart quicker. ***Update (5/7/2011) - I picked up my glasses and I thought everything was fine, but unfortunately they have cut the glass too small to fit the frame. Awful and incorrect service! After arriving for my appointment, one of the front desk persons took me and did a couple eye tests, but it was over 45 minutes before I was taken back to see the eye doctor. Having removed my contacts and being near sighted, I couldn't see every detail of the room, but the eye doctor didn't acknowlege I was even there and was doing office paper work. I sat there for a good 3-5 minutes before he turned around and started speaking to me. The room also stunk of curry!! It was over whelming and gross that the eye doctor's exam room wreaked of curry. After finishing the exam, we went to the front where 2 boxes of 90 days of contacts were ordered. They gave me 5 days of samples to get me through. It was 7 days later as I was on my way there to ask for more trails that they called and said my contacts were in (I had to go through old travel bags to find contacts to get me through). Well, they ordered the wrong prescription. They gave me the correct box of 90 days for one eye and got me 10 trials for the other eye (each eye is different). Confused, I left only to discover they had given me the wrong brand of trials. Returning again the next day, it was a back and forth to try and explain what I needed and what had happened to just get a week or so of trails for BOTH eyes so my 90 day supply wasn't lopsided once the other box came in. In figuring it out, my wrong box was still sitting on the counter and the correct box had not even been ordered the day previous! The correct box came in the next day... phew! Will NOT return here for any future eye appointments, issues, orders, contacts, etc. etc. There are plenty of other places in the area my insurance covers that I am sure has their business in order with my professionalism. read more

Dr. Anderson is great. Dr Hung...not so much. Both are super nice though. Dr. Anderson even more so. Staff is nice and regular too, though I don't like that it takes so long to be seen even when I'm on time for my appointments. Been a long time patient and I travel all the way here every year for my appointment because so far no one I've seen is better. My whole family sees them and we have no complaints so far. I love the doctors here! Great customer service from the staff too. My first visit really caught me and has now turned me into a life long patient with Dr Anderson and his wife Dr Hung. This husband and wife teamwork really impressed me. The staff is really kind and made me feel like I am really important to them. I was on my lunch break from work, and the staff put me in right away so that I could make back to work in time. I love the customer service here. I've been to many other offices and none compare to Vision Max. I was treated like a number at other offices, but Vision Max and their staff made me feel like I was a friend.
