Dr. Kim is so friendly but her office staff is not. The front desk staff is so rude. I understand they are busy but there are ways to approach certain situations. I called to inquire something on my insurance and I got an ugh and I'm with a customer hold on. Once I got my answer the girl just hung up on me. I want to start off by saying our visit at Dr. Kim's Optometry was SPECktacukar. The staff was great and very accommodating. They were so helpful with finding a new pair of glass and had extra patience as we tried on dozen of glasses. The best part was that they were also able to fit my husband and I in for a same day visit on the day I called in, which was already a plus in our book. The best part of the visit had to be because of Dr. Kent. He was very informative and really helped us understand our eye health. We actually learned so much about our eyes which no other optometrist has ever gone over with us. Kind Doctor, horrible customer service. I called today (01/17/24) around 2 pm, I wanted to make an appointment for a check-up. I asked for any availability during the weekend, the front desk woman responded with nothing available for the weekend for my insurance (okay, thats understandable). I asked for anything during Friday afternoons. My problem and reason for this poor review is that the woman kept pushing and insisting that I take the Tuesday appointment, even AFTER the fact that I explained how I couldn't because I work and go to school on those days. I felt her persistent behavior as rude and inconsiderate. She then only offered me Wednesday and Thursday appointments, please, tell me how that makes sense. I wouldn't have minded getting an appointment a month from now as long as it was a Friday Afternoon but to keep insisting and pushing me to take an appointment that was completely impossible for me was incompetent. Bad customer service!!! It's so disappointing that I was the ones that had to follow up after ordering our glasses when they'll be in for pick up. We ordered it in early Dec and they said it would be ready in 3 week. Well that's not true, I spoke with the team memember today and she told me it will be another 4 weeks. When I asked why she couldn't really give an answer or explanation. Scary part is that she said it's been expedited.... 4 more weeks is expedited. Not very professional there. My mom had them as her HMO provider and when I called to make appointment they said I was wrong that they do not take her insurance. Called insurance and they had to call them to say "yes" you do. Took her to appointment and they were pushing her to buy glasses even though they wouldn't really help her. The doctor was very sweet and said she would send referral for specialist. It's been 2 months and I left several messages about this. Finally got a hold of someone and I said her PCP had not received the referral and her response was "that's their problem". Excuse me. UPDATED REVIEW: Today was our appointments for my 6yo son, husband, and myself. They were AMAZING beginning to end. We interacted with the whole staff and everyone was so nice professional and just amazing. They answered all of our questions and made our visit very pleasant. Also masks were worn at all time and they have hand sanitizers and everything felt very clean and safe. The doctor himself was also very pleasant to work with made it all very smooth and explained everything to us. Over all definitely recommend them! The quality of the glasses was bad. Two pairs of glasses lasted only one and two months. The frame was damage. The office offered no solution. I will not use them again. I've been coming here for years and after these last 2 incidents I will NOT be returning. I was prescribed a new set of contact due to the first set causing irritation. I called back within 6 months cause I stayed getting eye irritation in my left eye. Did research and saw that the lens that were provided not only had bad reviews but had a recall. When I called I explained what was happening and they scheduled my appointment. When I get there they pull my records goes to the back spoke with the Dr and then comes out and says it's been 6 months and that I will have to pay $80 for her to do an eye exam!! WTH my insurance covers that first all and if you prescribed it and I'm telling you there was a recall I would think you would check into it and see if your patient is alright BUT no they wanted money! My daughter broke her glasses took them back after 6 months and they said that the 1yr warranty expired BUT it's only been about 6 months. They send her glasses in after seeing there covered on the warranty and charge me $25 dollars for SHIPPING!! Really you guys are pitiful and a rip off and just sad!! read more

Best optometry around the area. Dr. Kim is so nice, she always hooks me up with nice eye drops for my allergies and dry eyes. She always go above and beyond so you know exactly how healthy are your eyes. All the staffs are kind and friendly. They are always on time for your appointments. Wait time is usually 0 to 5 minutes. First and foremost I want to Thank Dr.Kim and the Girls at the front office! They have been thru this Incredible Journey Of My Sight with My Wife and I, every step of the way! They make you feel like part of their family, showing great patience and care always trying to help you out in anyway they can. I had heard about the (Scleral Lenses) last year. My eyes are super sentive to the touch. I thought at first that with that factor and then $$$ it was not an option for me. Maybe it was me lying to myself looking for excuses not to move forward it, maybe I had just accepted at some point I would loose my sight. As this years eyecheck approached My Wife gave me that Extra Ump and Inspired me to do it if I was a good candidate. I went in like a normal check up and to get fitted for the lenses. I was so nervous shaking at times. I didn't want to get my hopes up, my Wife, Dr.Kim and the Girls in the front where there Helping me out telling me everything will fine. I knew putting in the lenses would be my biggest hurdle. I knew that I needed to do this and having my family present gave me strength. I know is lenses i am just talking about here and as it easy as it sounds (just put them in) it wasn't for me. Once the 1st lense went in, it was excitement and determination that took over. I know this is long and if you are still reading this, I thank you and stay with me. Once I had both lenses in. I was (Speechless, Full of Emotions) these weren't even my actual lenses and what I was seeing was like seeing 1 of the 7 Wonders of the World. I had to have them in for about 30 mins if correct before Dr.Kim checked for the fit, airbubbles, ect. She proceeded to fit me with my prescription. I must say the comfort she provided me with is so great! When she had me read The Snellen eye chart to see her reaction on My Vision improvement to 25/20 or 20/25 I was in shock she had me see what I was only able to read and how big the letters are. I was reading to smallest letters, and I could see them! Dr.Kim has changed my life For Ever! Listening to My Wife to Move forward with the scleral lenses has been the most life changing Decision. I only wish I would have known about this years ago! I Highly recommend this to anyone who is able too. Come to Dr.Kims office and find out if you are a good candidate. So, if my review was based solely on the Dr. I would give 5 stars. It's because his staff that I gave a lower rate. The lady with the blondish hair was so nice, but a hispanic chubby lady, I believe she wears glasses was so rude and cold. Zero customer service skills. I guess me going in to pick up my paid order (after receiving a call from them about it being ready) and her having to get off her chair and take 3 steps to grab it was too much of a bother for her. First time visiting this location and my experience went fine. Dr. KIM is very informative and pleasant. I did order my glasses and rec'd a call from Rosario that they were ready for pickup. She reminded me that they close promptly at 5pm and since I was coming from the City of Ontario and off at 4:30pm I would definitely be cutting it close. When I called today, July 21st, the lady stated last p/u was 4:45pm. Long story short, she told me I NEEDED to be there by 4:50! I could not understand the inconsideration of a customer as myself, and the sheer gull and audacity and unwillingness to assist in getting my glasses to me? The staff insisted they closed at 4:30pm and stayed the hours on the door and website are incorrect. I will not be returning or recommending this location. I do think the hours of operation are very restricting for ppl that work, and oh, only open (1) Saturday of the month?? That will not work. At least not for me. Best of luck Dr. Kim. read more

Dr. Kim accepts walk-in appointments, so I stopped by when convenient for me. My wife had been there the day before and mentioned having a great experience, so I gave it a shot. I had to change my review from 3 starts to 5 "AS GOOD AS IT GETS" Seems they heard my gripe and took action, they are replacing the lenses on my wife's glasses free of charge to us. Notice i said to us. They are incurring the charges themselves. Not that they had to, they just are kind enough to do so. I an now aware that in the future when I get other glasses at Dr. Kims Optometry of course. I need to get that added peace of mind up front. So this will not happen again. I have to say this was the most pleasant experience that I have with a doctor's visit. Dr. Kim really took her profession to her heart. She spend great amount of her time to examined my eyes and explained everything in details to me, gave me multiple options and referral if I choose to go with one of the option, of course she explained very clearly why did she recommend Dr. Chan as her referral. Everything in such details, is it really excess my expectation and above. If anyone ever need to see a optometry, Dr. Kim would be the one that you'll enjoy to go see. Sometimes yelp just gets it right. I was just here on last Thursday and this place definitely deserves 5 stars and here's why: 1. Dr. Joanne Kim is a great optometrist. Period. Very thorough, very knowledgeable and very friendly. I tend to ask a bunch of questions and she was very patient with me through all my weird questions about my eye. 2. Office staff is very welcoming. I don't remember the names of the two girls that were at the front desk but they did a great job processing my paperwork and taking me through the initial examination. 3. Clean and well organized. Fina another option!!! Nice doctor but thats about all I can say. The prices are high and the service is TERRIBLE! We paid over 1000.00 for 2 pair of glasses. I had to keep calling to see if glassess were ready and when I was advised they were and showed up to get them, we were advised that my husbands sunglasses would take additional time. They had to rush because he was going out of town but that was an additional 5 days. When he went to get those he turned in his regular glasses because the perscription wasn't right Oct 10. I finally called on Nov 2 and was told they were there and had been there since Oct 15. That means they had had them ready for weeks. When I called to ask why no one had contacted us they said they sent a text but they just realized their program wasnt working. Dr Kim and Staff are AMAZING. Dr Kim made us feel comfortable during all of our exams. I have been here before had good experience but never took my kids.
