Young lady with short hair and glasses working the front desk was incredibly rude and nasty. I believe her name is Ana Marie if I'm not mistaken. She also kept making comments about waiting for the day to be over and how unhappy she was being there. Listen... not a lot of people like their jobs but you don't have to spread that negativity amongst everyone in such a tight space. I won't go into detail about the comments she was making under her breath that were still loud enough for everyone to hear. Also talking about patients right in front of them.. very strange. just overall unpleasant and unnecessary behavior. I understand the business and I know how frustrating customers/patients can be. They can ruin your mood and make you feel like you don't want to work at your job anymore... especially when dealing with the same type of personalities every single day. It makes you not want to be nice, but why have an attitude with the ones who did nothing to you and simply just wanted to come in for their appointment? Sucked the energy right out the room. Update** In response to Dr. Kruh or whomever else replied to my review. I never mentioned anything about the service with the doctor, only about the front staff as plenty of other people have also had a bad experience with which anyone can see from looking through the reviews. When I asked about incorrectly billing my insurance plan and spoke to the manager, she gave me attitude just for asking questions. Terrible experience. Thorough doctor but some organizational confusion. The doctor recommended an expensive in-office treatment for blepharitis, in addition to over-the-counter hypochlorous acid eyedrops, and omitted mention of easy at-home remedies; received contradictory info at checkout. When I followed up about the eyedrops at checkout, the assistant said there were no equivalent over-the-counter eyedrops, only $35 drops at the office. I was frustrated at the omission of cheap at-home options that are in clinical guidelines and posted a negative review. (Due to the miscommunication it appeared I was being recommended a $250 treatment not covered by insurance.) The doctor quickly followed up with a thorough explanation. A+ for communication. Both UpToDate and Mayo Clinic recommend warm compresses and lid washing for blepharitis: https://www.uptodate.com/contents/blepharitis & https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/blepharitis/diagnosis-treatment/drc-20370148 -- As a student, I have to ask whether the $250 out-of-pocket Blephex treatment for blepharitis is worth it. It is not yet well-studied (I found few randomized controlled studies) and the at-home options for lid washing are in clinical guidelines and might be worth trying or suggesting first. P.S. Google Maps lists 25 5th Ave #1B as the address, 33 5th Ave is the address given when calling the Vision NYC number (212-777-7270), but the actual address is yet different, on 10th St. Hopefully this confusing situation of 3 addresses will be resolved soon. read more

There is no waiting time in this efficient office and before you know it the visit is over. Dr Kruh is very knowledgeable and professional and up to date with the latest techniques. I was delighted to have Dr. Kruh do the Yag procedure on my left eye. I'd found out recently that after cataract surgery (in my case a couple of years) a lot of us get a film over the eyes. I'd been very frustrated that my vision was starting to not be so great any more and thought it was just natural aging. So when I heard about the film, I made an appt to have Dr. Kruh do the procedure. It took only a couple of minutes sitting in his chair, there was no pain at all and I was able to get up and walk out happily seeing so much more sharply than before. I was thrilled to see my vision wasn't failing. His office wanted me to wait two weeks before having the other eye done, but I had no side effects at all and asked him if I could come sooner. His office is fitting me in on Monday, which I can't wait for. The office is spotless and modern and only a few blocks away from my home. Most of the staff is lovely and I wasn't going to say anything about the one person I had an issue with but I see Stephanie R. had the same experience with her. I would still recommend you go there and hopefully this person will be gone soon. read more

I chose to have PRK (no flap LASIK) surgery with Dr. Kruh after meeting with 3 other surgeons in NYC. I am SO GLAD I DID. He was very attentive and patient with me and my questions at my consult, he really got to know me as a patient and performed the most-thorough exam I had of any of the surgeon's exams to understand my eye health and whether I was a candidate for the procedure (I have thin corneas and have had some other eye issues in the past and one surgeon actually declined to do the procedure on me). I felt as though I was being cared for with Dr. Kruh, which is not something I can say about all of the PRK surgeons in the city. He's friendly and kind and clearly very smart and attentive to detail. He did an expert job with my eyes during the surgery itself, and he has a great follow-up schedule and is very clear with communication about post-op eye care and instructions. I have had an incredible experience. This is obviously a very nerve-wracking procedure and can be a tough decision to make but trust Dr. Kruh with your eyes. Truly. I've had experiences at eyeglasses stores where I feel like I'm being pushed to spend a lot of money, but since this is isn't in an optician, I didn't experience that here. I just had my first cataract surgery and am thrilled. Dr. Jonathan Kruh gave me a very comprehensive exam, was patient and kind in explaining my eye conditions, did not push me to add services not covered by my insurance, and gave me very detailed instructions and information before the procedure. HIs office staff is efficient and great to work with. The surgery was at the Retina Ambulatory Surgical Center, and Dr. Kruh was supported by a medical staff there who were all very conscientious in addressing my somewhat unique medical needs. The procedure was painless and quick. The BEST thing is, less than 24 hours later and I can SEE! My cataract was very advanced but Dr. Kruh is very skilled, so my vision is sharp and clear, colors are fantastic. I cannot sing the praises of Vision NYC enough. I was referred to Dr. Kruh by my regular eye doctor (a retina specialist) after scratching my cornea while attempting to remove a contact lens. First of all, Dr. Kruh came in to see me on a day that the office wasn't even open (he didn't tell me that, but I figured it out when there were no other patients in the waiting room and he and the receptionist put their coats on and left at the same time I did). In other words, Dr. Kruh is a kind, caring, and compassionate doctor. I never imagined that the bonus to the excellent treatment of my cornea over the course of several weeks would be that Dr. Kruh would hold the key to restoring the vision in the eye for which I was wearing the custom-made super strong contact lens (due to severe injury to the eye years earlier and the gradual failure of the implanted lens that worked for several years). After my cornea healed and I told Dr. Kruh I was done with contact lenses, he determined that I might be a candidate for a PRK procedure, something I had never heard of. The in-office procedure took less than 1/2 hour, was not painful, required no sedation, and I walked out already seeing better than I had for years. And, after all healing has taken place, my eyesight in that eye is, I believe, 20-25, whatever that means. In addition to all of this, seeing Dr. Kruh (at least in his 5th Avenue office) is an unusual medical experience: despite juggling several patients in a small space, he is very prompt; the office staff are friendly and efficient; and there is a feeling of calm. I consider Dr. Kruh a miracle worker and a wonderful and kind doctor. read more

Excellent doctor! On any phone call I am greeted with a friendly voice. I arrived to a nicely decorated office and did not have to wait long at all. Dr Kruh is very well spoken and explains things so I could easily understand. He has all new machines and ran multiple tests. I love most that he wants to retest me in a few weeks to double check that the 1st set of tests are accurate before we do the surgery. Dr. Kruh is the best at what he does and is a credit to his profession. His education and experience are apparent. What is not on the web is his compassion and forthright demeanor. He explains things in easily understandable layman's terms. No questions are too trivial. Addionally, I learned that he "gets" the human condition. He's accessible (returns calls!) and is clearly concerned about all of his patients. I was anxious about two cataract surgeries (yet another new experience on the "Golden Years" road trip), but he allayed my fears. Both surgeries were performed quickly, painlessly and expertly with only the minimal and usual discomfort afterward. And, I can SEE! Dr. Kruh's Surgical Coordinator, Xaimarys Molina, is professional, sweet and super patient. His opthalmalic assistant, Aaron, is also excellent.
