I got my glasses here a long time ago, and I keep getting lenses replaced rather than buying new frames because I love the frames I have. They will still fix the frame when it breaks. LensCrafters told me it was broken for good, and that they'd have to give it to a specialty lab that would take 3-6 hours to fix it. The guy behind the counter at Visionworks was able to fix the hinge with just a pair of pliers in about 30 seconds. 10/10, wish I could rate them higher. They stand behind their products even years later, and they are good at what they do. read more

Updating my review: Since my review from last year, I've came back to see Katherine again for my prescription sunglasses back in June, and she continues to give me the best customer service and helped me find my fit. Anytime I mention that my glasses or sunglasses aren't fitting well, she works her magic, and I've decided that I'm only going to see her here. When I came to pick up my sunglasses, someone else helped me, and the level of care and attention to detail is clearly not the same. Today, I decided to pop in and see if she'd be here, and I'm so happy I was able to get her help. I had put off getting my sunglasses fitted properly and happened to be right around the corner. She ordered me a replacement, and she also fixed both my glasses and sunglasses in the meantime. I can't thank her enough, and another reason why she is able to help me like no one else is that she is very well aware of the struggles us Asians face when it comes to glasses fitting properly on our face. I'm excited to come back in a couple of weeks to pick up my replacement and also get another eye exam for an updated prescription. I came here on my day off, I didn't check the reviews here prior. I almost forgot Costco has a vision center but it was too much of a drive so I scheduled my appointment here because I enjoy going to the mall anyway. I've never had an eye exam in my life but I know that I needed to get my eyes checked and needed glasses since it's been getting harder and harder to see certain things. I couldn't even park my car straight apparently! I booked my appointment online for a time later that day which was really easy to do. For some reason later that day, the email said they scheduled me an appointment for the next week same time which I completely ignored! The initial lady was not friendly at all, she had a negative vibe and really didn't seem to be helpful which dissatisfied my visit. Next was the eye exam portion was not as bad as TV shows depict as where it's long and boring, it's a very interesting process. The lady was very helpful and funny. Next, I got to choose what lens I wanted next while waiting for the doctor to write out what glasses I'll need and I felt like a kid in a candy store. There were so many lens to choose from to fit any personality honestly, found the perfect pair. I was greeted by the salesman who was really cool, I even got cool options with my glasses such as glare protection and insurance which was great. Got my glasses the next week and I was very satisfied that everything went perfect. The best part was that they accepted my insurance so I couldn't complain either. I purchased contacts dd not like them and the manager refused to replace them or give a refund. I purchased eyeglasses too had to contact them to find out they were there for at least a week and no one contacted me. When I arrived to pick them up the store was closed because the customer service personnel were late. I will not return to this company, if they were the only company around. I rather get two magnifying glass from Dollar Tree tape them in the middle with electrical tape and wear them as over sized eyewear. read more

I have been a satisfied customer in the past, not this time. The optometrist is great, the service not so much. The workers seemed more interested in drinking their coffee and chatting than helping me. When it came to paying, the person handling my purchase gave it to another person. What I didn't realize until I reviewed the bill at home is I was way overcharged. They overcharged me by $400 telling me my insurance had a large deductible which it did not. I called my vision insurance and it seems they are billing for what they think you will need to pay and not what the actual bill will be after insurance pays. I will be going back and asking for a refund and re billing. UPDATE: I went back to the store to ask for the difference between what I was billed and what my insurance said Vision works submitted which was over $450 dollars. I had three employees yell at me they weren't authorized to help me which I do not understand. I then called their corporate office and was told I had to wait up to 14 days for them to review and maybe return my money. Do not go here or to any vision works, it is too hard to get your money back if they overcharge. read more

DO NOT GO HERE. Terrible chain. Can't get a hold of a live person. Phone calls result in round and round endless options that want you to self serve with a robot. Staff was supposed to call me back when my contacts arrived and wouldn't schedule an appointment with me to try them on until they came in. It's been over a month and still waiting for that call. Can't get an answer unless you walk back in to store. No one answers the phone in store. Now they used up my Ins for this year so I would have to pay out of pocket to go elsewhere. Chicago Ridge, IL: They automatically up sale you on the lens package, and have forgotten to provide at least one of my prescriptions (I do contact and eyeglass exams) on multiple occasions. You have to review your receipt and documentation on the spot to avoid being overcharged or having to come back and pick up your prescription because they wont mail it to you. read more

Went for an appointment. Ordered glasses. Was told glasses would be ready in two weeks. Two weeks have passed and haven't gotten a call. Keep trying to call to check my order status but machine says I don't have an order in with my info. Tried checking online and it says the same but I'm unable to speak to anyone. Worst customer service I have received in a while. First of all the rep at the desk on October 1st around 5pm had a very passive aggressive attitude. I arrived at my 5pm appointment about 5:08pm. After ignoring me to talk on the phone for what seemed like an eternity the desk rep motioned for a young man To assist me who at first failed to even acknowledge my existence in his store. I was told that I was now late for my and outside of the 10 minute grace period. It was 5:11pm. i was the only one in the store at that time aside from the two employees. Now I understand that I was tardy but no other options were offered to me. The kid wouldn't have even offered to reschedule my appointment had I not asked. They just kinda sat there waiting for me to leave. I had such a pleasant experience at VisionWorks today. This was all due to a manager who went above and beyond. Her name is Katerine Madrid. I never write reviews but her customer service skills were so tremendous that she deserves much more then a simple review, she deserves a raise or a promotion. I was kinda nervous looking for the right pair of glasses to fit my face. I was all alone, so I was unable to get a second opinion. Also, I have horrible vision so it was hard to see what pair of glasses would look good on my face. Katerine took all of my worries away. She took the time to make sure I picked the perfect pair. She was the perfect person to ask for a second opinion. She gave me an honest review of about 40 pairs of glasses I had picked out. We were able to narrow it down to two perfect pairs. She even offered to take pictures of me while I tried on each pair. She really made my visit so special. She is an excellent conversationalist as well! I bought glasses from this store and had previously blend with the left arm being broken multiple times. It took them a month to repair them. The manager had a very nasty disposition. He wasn't help at all when I brought my comply not to have to him. I took my glasses back to this same facility because of the scratches and spots in my glasses. Again, the same manager tells me that because I.didn't get a warranty on the lens, there's nothing he can do. All if this happens in less than three months. Really unprofessional!!! Ordered contacts from them and it took around a month and a half to get! I had to go twice to keep reminding them about it. And when I went the third time they had it but they never called me even though they are supposed to call when they receive them. Every time I call them I get placed on hold and they never come back, this time I was placed on hold for around 18 mins then I had to hang up. Got my prescription for a year then ordered contacts for 6 months since I don't wear them daily and when I ran out I called to ordered a second set they said my contact prescription expired and they can not give me any until I take the exam. I only asked to buy a portion that will last me till I get the lenses I'm supposed to get after the exam. What do you want me to do! Not busy and waiting for assistance with glasses. Dr. Karynn Allen was fantastic but unfortunately the staff there wasn't too helpful. It took me a half hour to pick out glasses yet over a half hour goes by and still not being helped out. Definitely did not feel appreciated for being there. I was going to get two pairs of glasses they did not have one of the pair I was getting in stock. I was willing to buy two pairs of glasses today but unfortunately I have to take my business elsewhere since no one was willing to assist. Mind you there was only two other people there a staff of three. Didn't have this problem before. They should train their sales staff to take care of the customers in the store waiting after the exam. read more

I have, however, decided that Vision Works is poorly managed, has AWFUL customer service, lacks cleanliness and the staff is absolutely improperly trained. Wow, save yourself the pain and take your hard earned cash elsewhere for your Vision needs, glasses and contacts. I entered the store and there was four employees huddled in their reception area talking to each other. Not one bothered to look at me, acknowlaging me or welcome me. I was trying my best to figure out which frame would look best on me and I had an idea of what I didn't want which was a metal frame. The selection is poor. All the glasses are extremely dirty and greasy. It was very hard to look through the lenses to even see what I looked like in the mirror because they were so disgustingly dirty. Every single frame that I put on looked hideous on me. Why is their selection so awful? Who picks out these styles? They have all these Brands I've never heard of like "viva" and the brands that are decent like the Gwen Stefani and Bebe are hidious styles that will only fit a 9 year old. They are not reasonably priced either. You would think that for a display of greesy glasses to try on and bad (or none) customer service, you could at least score a deal on cheap glasses. You do NOT. You can get something cleaner, nicer and have someone help you pick something nice somewhere else. I heard one of the guys say "I did my quota for today, $××x×, so I am ready to go home". Really? It all reflects great leadership which is why the general manager Dorothea gets an A++++++. She is just awesome and professional. Mind you this is all before you even see the eye doctor. My appointment on the12th of September was for an exam, and I planned to order a new set of glAsses. My first time I'm using a chain instead of my doctor. I couldn't get an appointment with him until next year. Visionworks is a Premere Provider for my insurance. The appointment seemed a little quicker than I am used to, but I could be wrong. I chose my frames and ordered my glasses I do have a strong prescription. I ordered like I have with other providers no line progressive plastic photochromic bifocal lenses. I was told they would take about 3 weeks because of what I was ordering. I called the store on October 3rd and the voice prompt said the order was delayed. I called on Saturday the 8th and the guy told me there was an issue with my order. He didn't know what it was and would check into it and would call me back. He left me a message to return his call, and I was't able to return it until Monday the 10th. I called on the morning of the 10th. I talked to a different gentleman, and he told me the order was canceled and resubmitted. He couldn't tell me why it was canceled,. He said the new delivery date was October 30th. I said fine. Later that day the gentleman I talked to on Saturday called me back and said I could not get photochromic lenses, but couldn't tell me why. I never has this issue with my prescription before. I called the store on October 31st to check on my glasses and was told my delivery date was now November 8th, but he couldn't tell my why again the delay. I canceled the order. The refund to me was short $25.00 and was not told about that either. read more

I took my son here for a required eye exam and it was horrible. They first called us back to ask us a few questions. The person asking us questions had their back to us the entire time. Then they referrsd to my son as "the kid." When we saw the doctor she told me that more and more kids are being diagnosed with "mental issues" when they really have vision issues that effect learning. In my opinion, any doctor making such statements to parents should know the correct terminology because her statement is false. The room where the exam took place was not clean either. I am a HUGE fan of this location and company! I'll admit, I was a bit skeptical with going into a Mall location, but from the moment I walked in I assure you I didn't feel like I was in a mall. From the first moment I called to inquire, they assured me my vision insurance would cover services, they knew immediately what the details of my discount would be for all products (glasses, contacts, services, etc.), and shared this information with me without having to open u an authorization with my insurance - this last part was probably my favorite part! I was calling around other locations days before, and they went fwd with requesting insurance authorization without my permission. Visionworks is respectful of the huge barrier this causes when searching for an optical appt, and reassured me they put the customer first! I also was able to set an appt within 24 hours of my first call, when everywhere else was placing me on waitlists or had to book me out MONTHS later. I was acknowledged with courteous smiles and energy immediately upon walking into the store, they verified my appt, and asked me if I had any questions while waiting - other places just push you right to selling you the glasses wall before even asking your name or figuring out what you're even there for. Visionworks instead put my needs first, and was respectful of the fact that I also had time sensitive (unrelated) appts after this one. The front desk/floor staff (on this day) were younger, and perhaps may have been lacking a slight sense of urgency in the final part of my appt (why I chose a 4 out of 5 -- really it's a 4.8 out of 5!), but it only cost me an extra 15 minutes or so, which wasn't too horrible. Dr. Caroline Szumanski is an absolute gem!! She not only had me laughing and comfortably acknowledging any awkward vision issues during my session, but I left her office feeling like I've been a patient of hers for years -- I felt right at home here and that she genuinely cared about both my overall health and the comfort of my vision. She even educated me on other simple ways I can perfect my vision and what to be mindful of when looking into changing/seeking new products for my visionwear. I look forward to continuing being a customer at Visionworks and a patient of Dr. Caroline Szumanski. I have already began referring to this location and others are experiencing very similar and pleased treatment! :) read more

Been coming 8 years and I had the worst experience my last time here. I went in for three pairs of glasses. They got both my glasses wrong, three times!! On top of that, they also got my sons prescription wrong. I ended up dealing with the store manager at the end and she was useless. Nora was the best! I was looking for a hard to find product- they not only had it in stock, she took the time to make sure I got what I needed and knew how to use it (contact lenses). I had an eye exam at a competitor over a month before, & still waiting for sample contacts to try. Every time it was "maybe in next week's shipment". Nora took the time to help me & was sooo patient.
