Showed up for our annual check and it took around 5 mins to check in. We were seated and have been waiting 20 mins to get seen. Right now they are over 50 mins behind with what appears to be only 3 associates working. No were just sitting here waiting to get seen by the Dr. As of right now, no communication from anyone. Very unprofessional location/business. At a minimum, someone should explain they are way behind and apologize for the wait. read more

Honestly I would give a 5 because the person that I helped me was absolutely wonderful. she was spot on, very smart, she was just perfect and was very honest, upfront with me ...no beating around the bush and I love that! She even helped me work out the total values and how much I can afford plus how much I cannot. she was amazing. Best experience I've ever had with a person working at an eyeglasses/contacts retailer. I think her name was Adela and she gets a 5 plus!! Plus I love the way she handled some kiddos who are playing with eyeglasses...very professionally and efficiently Ask for ADELA! I gave a 4 for overall because the prices are just crazy. I paid almost $500 with insurance. my insurance doesn't cover contacts... but the extra contact exam fees and the extra fees for glasses: glass lenses with the anti-reflect, scratch resistance and just to have thinner lenses and not look like you're wearing Coke bottle bottoms...all, all, all of those fees are just ridiculous!! I almost had to sell an organ to pay for it. I felt more like I was buying a car and getting it fully equipped rather than just getting an eye exam, reordering contacts and glass lens my with my own frames, even! read more

They were very organized, Doctor was straight shooter, he provided advise and suggestions based on your exam, plus all staff was on point to make our glasses shopping comfortable!.. Understaffed most of the times. You can tell the staff works very hard, but honestly what a bad environment for staff and customers. Teach the staff to deal with not having enough employees and set realistic expectations for customers and wait time. Plus, my glasses have vision issues and there is a delay in my contacts arriving. I've been going to this Visionworks for a while, and the service has gotten bad the last few months. I ordered contacts on July 1st. After two weeks, which is unusual as I usually get them back in a week, I called and there was an issue with the manufacturer, and they needed to reorder. I drove all the way there, got a trial pair because I was without contacts, and they said they re ordered them. After around the same amount of time, I called and got the same answer. There was something with the manufacturer, they aren't sure, everything looks good at their end. They apologized, and told me they would for sure call me back at the end of the day. That was two days ago. It's been almost an entire month and I still don't have the contacts that I purchased. I ordered from somewhere else, and they are already here. Getting a refund is only possible if I again drive out to the store, since no one answers the phone. This may seem really simple, but if a customer purchases something, you have to give them that item, or refund. I shouldn't have to waste my time calling a number every day. read more

My husband and I have been going to Visionsworks at GolfMill for about 5 yrs. We have always been taken care of by Adela B., she is absolutely wonderful. I have difficult glasses to fit, transitions with 3 levels, but she knew just how to adjust them perfectly so I walked out wearing the glasses with no problems. We need to get new glasses, but we found out Adela B. is no longer at this store??? If anyone knows where she went, maybe she is at another Visionworks? Please let us know? This vision works was a total lifesaver! Bought a pair of glasses about a year ago from here and they recently broke. Thankfully I walked in one night half an hour before close and walked right back out with a new set of frames thanks to a helpful worker named Norma. Worst place and terrible customer service! I went in for an exam and to get new eyeglasses almost 4 weeks ago. I received a call that my glasses were ready for pick up. Went in and they put in the wrong lenses. I asked how that was possible if the required lenses were highlighted on the paper and was told oh it was just missed by the technician. They did not seem to care no big deal to them so I figure that must happen a lot. After that I got another call a few days later to pick up the glasses....went in a second time. They were unable to find my glasses. Once they did find them the lenses were completely scratched. I was told they have to send them back in. My eyeglasses are still not ready for pick up and it's been almost 4 weeks. I called today and was told 5 more days. I let them know that this is unacceptable and that I want my money back. I got no response back from the other end. No emotion...they don't care at all that it's been almost 4 weeks and I still don't have my glasses. Terrible. Absolutely ridiculous. I will never go back to this place again. I wouldn't be surprised if they close just like every other store at that dying mall. read more

Believe it or not, I swung in here as a joke to try on some glasses, not thinking I'd find anything I'd even remotely like. Having dealt with Visionworks at a different location, I thought the glasses were low end, and the service a joke. Of course, I fell in love with a frame and inquired about it. The service at the location was amazing. They did not try to aggressively upsell me (this is a first) They were able to work with my insurance, and I ended up getting the glasses from here (already had my prescription from another Dr) I was thrilled! This was my very first time at Visionworks and it was a very pleasant visit. I had a 3:15 pm appointment. I was greeted with a smile and was asked to fill out the proper forms. The place looked very busy. However, the ladies there seemed to handle all the customers very well. I observed a gentleman that was sitting there with an apparent illness (maybe dementia) was yelling out to whomever walked passed him. There was a woman that looked at me and basically told me, no worries sir. She sat next to him and kept him I guess entertained while customers walked around looking for eyewear. I thought to myself wow, this woman is awesome for doing that. I went in to see the doctor and he was so nice. We had a very nice conversation just about his son and my son that played baseball. This doctor was very knowledgeable about all of what I needed. I soon was finished with the doctor and was ready to pick out frames. It was a great visit. In and out. Thank you very much Visionworks. I changed insurance and my prior optician didn't take my new insurance. I went to Visionworks Golf Mill, and I got my new glasses today. I love them! I can see really well. I wear progressive lenses and I've been told in the past I have a difficult prescription. But these came out just fine. And about $300 less than what I spent on my last pair of glasses. read more

It is extremely unfortunate that Visionworks is one of the only places I can go to get the vision discount associated with my Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance policy (PPO.) The communication at this location is horrible, and there must be very little or no staff training. When I arrived for my appointment, I was given the option of 3 different tests, all three of which I declined. I was pressured into either having dilation (no charge) or an eye mapping test (for $40.) I was told I could not leave without having one or the other, or would have to come in for a follow-up and do one or the other. There was no way I was driving after dilation, and didn't have/wasn't going to have a driver with me any time soon, so I just bit the bullet on the $40 test. I was told by the doctor that I would be called when my contacts arrived, she would see how they fit in my eyes, and finalize the prescription. Hence, the sales associate ordered trials as well as a 3 month supply of lenses. The associate also told me it would be 3-5 days before my contacts arrived. 6 days later, I called, only to be told my contacts hadn't yet arrived, and they took a week to come in. I explained that I was told 3-5 days, to which the person on the phone didn't really seem to care about the misinformation. 11 days later, I called, only to be told again, that my contacts hadn't arrived, and they take 10 business days. I explained again, more frustrated, that this is now the 3rd quote I've received on timeframe. Again, they didn't seem to care. 12 days later, my contacts arrived. I made the appointment to go in and pick them up. I arrived 15 minutes early as the first doctor had instructed, because my lenses are toric - she needed a few minutes for them to settle in my eyes before examining. Well, this was not the same doctor. She looked, said everything was fine, but that she needed to see me back in a week for a follow-up, to which I then became EXTREMELY frustrated. I explained to the doctor that once again, that is not what I was told during the previous appointment, and that it is extremely inconvenient for me to have to come back again a third time. She was apologetic, but unwavering. If I had to come back again, why would they have ordered me a 3 month supply of lenses? They begrudgingly offered to have the original doctor look over the chart the next day and give a call to say if she'd release the prescription. Guess who had to be the one to call to follow-up hours after they opened for the day? Yup, me. I argued again with a sales associate, who must've been a shift supervisor, who only changed her attitude when I asked for a refund of the 3 month supply of lenses I'd already paid for, stating I'd purchase them elsewhere once the prescription was released to me. At that point, she did say that she would be willing to mail me the 3 month supply if the doctor agreed to release the prescription. I'm currently waiting on a faxed copy of the prescription, as well as a copy of the UPS packing slip that includes tracking information so that I can track the shipment of the $100 worth of contacts I've already purchased. I will not be purchasing more contacts through Visionworks, nor would I recommend anyone go there. Go to a real optometrist, their options for glasses might be more limited, I guarantee you you'll get better service. read more

Came back here. Still not a fan, yet. This time the service was much better than the previous trip. I was greeted promptly and the employee actually knew a thing or two about his own store. He told me that Vision Works can't look up purchases from VisionWorld, but that he could guarantee me that my warranty had expired after two years. He said, "I'm sorry, miss, we can't look up customer information from purchases at other locations." Bluntly, I said, "Well, that's just stupid." Like my tact? Me too! He answered all of my questions. Eye exams are about $40, replacing my lenses would run me at $75 and having the glare protection is another $25. I don't like the prices, but I love that I was answered. I settled for just having the cushion pads replaced and got a new glasses case. We chit-chatted as he fixed my stuff and rang me up. I really should have read the reviews before I came here. They made every single step a difficulty. They kept getting my name wrong, and no matter how many times I corrected them they wouldn't listen and couldn't bill my insurance and lost my appointment because of it. The doctor I saw was fine, but the technician who did my initial tests did NOT know what he was doing at all. He kept dropping this weird book to see if I was color blind which was so weird. The people that work here are so rude, I have never had a good experience and have gone multiple times because of the convenient location in proximity to my house. Yesterday I showed up 10 minutes late to my appointment and they told me I would have to wait at least 30 minutes to get in to see the doctor. And they were not kind about it either. How is that possible that I would have that long of a wait? Were they expecting to rush me through an eye exam in 15 minutes just to get their quota in for the day? I chose to ignore comments here prior on going to this branch. BAD IDEA!!! My mom needed an eye exam after 2 years of not going to her regular eye DR. Her insurance is Blue Cross/Shield of IL and Visionworks is in-network for her vision insurance coverage (Davis Vision). The lady optometrist was super NICE, but the staff was TERRIBLE!!! Layla talked to us about my mom's coverage and told us after checking her vision coverage with BCBS, my mom has $10.00 exam co-pay and that that she does not have any vision coverage (frames and lenses). WTF she talking about, i confirmed twice to my mom's insurance the day before. I was terribly upset that after paying the 10 dollars co-pay we walked out! American Optical was just a store away from Visionworks. I did not know my cousin works for American Optical. Told her about what just happened at Visionworks. She told us that Visionworks does not cover Davis Vision insurance and that American Optical is. The information on Davis Vision website is completely wrong regarding Visionworks as an IN-NETWORK PROVIDER! She received so many complaints from Visionworks customers going to her store. So the bottom line is if you have Blue Cross/Shield Illinois HMO insurance and has Davis Vision (eye insurance), DO NOT GO HERE. Come to American Optical instead which accepts Davis Vision! read more

I looked up Vision Works Golf Mill because I didn't have the phone number on hand. When I saw the low reviews, I felt the need to share my own experience. I've worn contacts since 1988, glasses since 1987 and I've been to different doctors and opticians in the Northwest Suburbs since. I consider my customer service standards pretty high, and admit that I'm a little biased in that I get offended easily with "North Shore" attitude of entitlement. I didn't get that sense from the employees, but heard this from some from the customers in the store. (One customer complained of the wait-- this person was a walk-in during lunch time, so I would expect a wait anyway!) Staff needed to check records too, taking work very seriously, and I was impressed that she didn't lose her cool. Close to home and work, it's convenient for me to stop for adjustments. I had my eye exams done 2010 and 2012--by two different optometrists who were thorough and efficient; purchased a year's worth of contacts for daily wear and a few boxes of the colored contacts. I purchased 2 glasses (discounted rate) I also had my eye glasses repaired there recently, within this past week (December 2012). The store seemed busy with customers, but I was greeted immediately by staff. One staff member remembered me. The price seems reasonable compared to other stores in the area. My mother also purchased her glasses there too, and she's happy with the service. read more

Golf Mill location staff is terrible ! I am a Senior, I walked around the store for nearly twenty minutes before anyone even acknowledged my presence. I tried on several frames while looking at the mirror and wondering why no one is even noticing my presence. Looking at the mirror, I see the man sitting at the center desk playing with his phone on social media, After several minutes he tires of this and starts playing with his stapler. No wonder he can't see or help me ! I can hear a lot of laughter coming from the back room. There are no other customers in the show room. Then another character, dressed like a skateboarder, shows up and stares at me like a deer in head lights, and finally asks me can I help you. I told him I would like to purchase a pair of glasses. He asks if I have an appointment. I say no I don't and point out that Visionworks advertises walk ins welcome on social media sites. He then looks on the computer and says he can get me in at 2:40 an hour and half later after I entered the store! Mind you there are no other customers in the store! Talk about not making a sale and watch money walk out the door. These people have be retrained and improve customer service. Stay away from the Golf Mill location at all costs until they resolve this dilemma. read more

The management here need to work on their customer service skills and training... Doctor Lyvindski was awesome however the sales associates are horrible and promise but don't deliver. I didn't read any of the reviews before I came here. I would not rate it the worst place I have been. I have not had a pair of glasses in a couple years I strictly stuck to contacts! My kids were really little and it seemed that every time I bought a new pair of glasses before I knew it they were broken, so I stayed away for a couple of years. I had seen the commercial for buy one pair get one free. So we were heading up to the mall for a little Sunday shopping so I stopped in. I did not need a eye exam as I already had a prescription from my own eye doctor. That was not a problem, because in other places that I had gone to they needed to do their own eye exam. When I initially walked I handed them my prescription and asked how much would my lenses be? I will say that they do up sell ALOT!! Because I got a price of 289 dollars for STRICTLY lenses. I was about to say ok and walk out, when something in my brain triggered and I asked what about if I just get basic lenses I would only wear them to rest my eyes at night, I would not use them alot. Then she said well basic lenses would be 90 bucks, so I that was a little more down to earth. I looked around for a cheap pair of frames. I found a nice pair of frames for $69.99 and I did ask if I could still get buy one get one free and the lady said yes. I was thinking around $160 for two pairs of glasses which was not bad. So when we sat down to write up the paper work and pay she let me know that she could bring the price down to $100. SCORE!! Two pairs of glasses for $100. They said my glasses would be ready in about an hour and they were. I liked the service the people were friendly and helpful. I would definitely go back when I or anyone else in my family needs a pair of glasses! read more

Yeah...I'd like to rate this place again. I spoke to soon on my last review. Although my initial visit went well, the rest was terrible. They ordered trial lenses for my contacts and said they'd have it ready in about a week. It took them over 3 weeks. I've called them several times and no one was able to give me an update. Finally on like the fifth call, someone finally lets me know that my trial contacts were on back order. If they were on back order, why didn't anyone inform me about it?! Then, when I finally do get my trials and the doctor and I decide its not the best fit for me, they tried reordering a different type of contact lenses. The workers order the wrong kind and reorder the same previous contacts. Not only that, there's a particular girl that works there and gives customers attitude and makes you feel terrible. Every single encounter I've had with her (mind you, this is taking about 2 months to get a decent pair of glasses and contacts), she's short with me and talks to me like I'm dumb. Other than this chick, the rest of the team and doctors seem really nice. I don't think I'd come back to this place....I'm sure there's other places that take my insurance and provide better service. read more

They refused to give me my PD prescription number claiming it was used to make the glasses at the lab (doh, of course) but could not release it as part of my paid prescription visit. So, when they didn't take my insurance, I basically got ripped off the price of the optometrist visit as I will need to visit another for a complete prescription. read more
