We planned ahead of time over 5 weeks, for care for my 96 year old mother…read more They were hesitant about filling our needs (which were not unusual by any normal healthcare standards). We talked with the coordinator in the Laguna Niguel location, AND we did a "meet and greet" and and in home inspection/consult. She was pleased with how our house was set up. Mom is easy care, quite self sufficient and ambulatory I was not going to be able to do much for a week or two and needed rest. Mom needed showers, meal prep and some supervision. We have a fall alert for overnight and emergencies. All but one of the FOUR caregivers were inept (we would have like to hire the one but she was already booked). One was not fluent and on her phone most of the time. I sent her away the day after surgery. So much stress they put my bed rest recovery in jeopardy! We had arranged for a hairdresser to come do Mom's hair and when she arrived there was some kind of mix up. We specifically asked for Mom smokers and two smelled like smoke. We did not use them again.

They struggled to cover my requested shifts, the staff were late and there was nothing done to make it right. I was told "it's the weekend" and that was why it was hard to cover the shifts. We have them another chance for the weekday and 10 minutes before the shift I CALL and am told they are still working on it. Then I'm told "It's COVID causing staffing issues". After 5 days I'm done. They are more trouble then they are worth. It should also be noted that less than a week after my initial call, they raised their rates. No mention of that initially. Don't sign up with this company if you need reliable care for an elderly person in your life.

Throughout the process, Lina was professional, compassionate, kind, and extremely helpful. There were several frustrating moments related to scheduling issues, many of which I expressed to Kaiser. Lina was always honest and transparent, explaining that all of their Spanish-speaking caregivers were currently assigned to other clients. Even so, she consistently took the time to listen to my concerns, answer questions, and help explore possible solutions. Lina maintained regular communication to ensure my mother received the specific care she needed when she needed it. While there were some scheduling challenges along the way, Lina remained proactive, attentive, and supportive, helping us navigate each obstacle. I was left waiting without any communication or explanation. * I contacted the agency and left a message for Val to call me who I was told was a supervisor, asking to return my call to discuss what happened. Unfortunately I never received a response. What makes this even more concerning is that they serve elderly individuals, people with disabilities, and families who are already under tremendous stress and relying on these services for support. They present themselves as compassionate and caring, but that has not been my experience. He actually picked up the phone. He talked with me for about 40 minutes, explaining all the services he offers and how it would look helping my dad (and mom). He knows his stuff! Very compassionate. Knowledgeable. Caring. There are a lot of things to consider when hiring a caregiver. Legalities. Regulations. Matching a caregiver with a client. So much more. Dwight explained it all so clearly. Big one: If you have a long-term healthcare insurance policy, make sure to check the waiting period. My mom hadn't looked at the policy in years, and sure enough there was a waiting period. His advice on activating it was on point. He met with my mom and I within a week of first talking on the phone. He re-explained to my mom all the services he offers. She was able to use him for only a week....my dad returned to the hospital. And never returned home. Dwight was so supportive. Would not hesitate to call Dwight.
