Cute sports bar at the Hyatt
    Helene S.

Despite forgetting my order, this was a very nice sports bar to enjoy after a long day at the New Orleans Book Festival at Tulane University. The hotel was the host hotel for the authors. Nice to be able to chat with a few at the hotel. The mushroom flatbread was delicious. Sat at the bar and talked to a friend while waiting for our order.

Located on the third floor of the Hyatt Regency, where I was staying, I grabbed some Purple Haze drafts (three) and some chicken wings as a nightcap while watching the late Sunday game after my Jets lost to the Saints earlier down the block at the Superdome and a late lunch/early dinner (Linner? Dunch?) at Mother's. No complaints.

We arrived in NOLA and didn't really want to go out so grabbed a bite in the hotel. We didn't have to wait long. Very relaxed place. We were at a high top the other tables were almost like sitting at couch with a table. Lots of tvs around. Started with an order of grilled oysters. They were very tasty, great flavor but not much sauce for dipping. The kitchen forgot our bread which the waiter grabbed for us on request. It was 4 small pieces of toasted bread-wasn't really worth the ask. We split an order of the Cajun fish and chips with sweet potato fries. The fish was a little larger than a fish stick. They were okay, not something I would order again . The sweet potato's were also good but not hot. I had the drink A Streetcar named Loyola which was very good. Our waiter was wonderful. Nice kid who was very friendly and personable.

Smoked Chicken Wings - Garlic Parmesan

Way understaffed, as most hotel restaurants are these days. Order was forgotten twice, finally got my wings and they were incredibly overcooked. The sauce had little to no flavor, and the bottom of the plate was a pool of butter. Fairly pricey as well.

This eatery is located inside the Hyatt Regency, so I will start with the ambiance- what a great spot. We got four cocktail tables with comfy sofas in front of TVs that were seemingly everywhere- my brother in law and nephew had great views of all the games and they loved this casual but elegant dining spot. The waitress was so friendly and accommodating. And now the food and drinks- the hotel gave us drink passes for two drinks per room per night. It covered house wines and beers- that was perfect. I had the pino noir and my sister had Cabernet- the guys had beer. Now for the food- yes we came for a taste of NOLA and they delivered. I had the seafood gumbo and sis had the sausage gumbo. We ordered flatbreads that were topped with an assortment of delicious items- I had fried oysters on mine. The guys had burgers and brisket sandwiches. So, even with the free drinks the bill was still close to $170 with the tip, but the food was outstanding.

Vitascope Hall is conveniently located on the third floor inside the Hyatt Regency Hotel. I walked in and was immediately seated. The food was pretty good, but a little overpriced. I wasn't at all surprised because the restaurant is inside a hotel, so you're paying for proximity. My waitress was very kind, and had a full list of frequently ordered items when I asked about the menu. The restaurant was clean and well taken care of.

    Gumbo $14.50

High end sports bar feel inside the Hyatt.  Bar in the middle of the dining floor.  Large composite display showing the game.  There is a TV at the table we were dining at... it appears that amost every table had a TV. NOTE- you will be paying hotel rates for the meals. The gumbo is well made...good flavor.  I just had a few spoonfuls but I wanted to steal it from my wife.  The ciabatta that came with gumbo was the only downer of the meal.... tasted a bit old/stale...like it was just stuck in the over to warm and crisp up.  It just did not do it for me. The smash burger... juicy and messy.  Really good with the sharpness of melted  aged cheese balancing  the sweetness of the pickle and bun.  There is hidden mushrooms in between the patties.  There was a rich beefiness flavor that will satisfy the carnivore in some of us. The sweet potato fries are good but a bit cold... tasted good with the mayo.

    Seafood Gumbo bowl

This place has tvs everywhere and they are huge! Definitely a prime spot to enjoy a game! Stopped in for lunch after checking in to the hotel. Went with the Seafood Gumbo which was delicious. Also ordered some sushi for the table. Our waitress Katrina was wonderful. Very friendly and attentive. Unfortunately they didn't have beignets on the dessert menu. Thankfully we were given a few recommendations which we decided to try out later.

The ambiance and decor are really nice inside of this hotel. The sushi was good, the gumbo was warm and the drinks were highlight of the meal. Nicely crafted and exceptional ingredients.

Yummy food, incredible service, and fancy restaurant! They accommodated gluten free, dairy free, poultry free, salt free, and hot food: 1. Chef Jazzelyn's butternut squash soup was so incredible; I had it for dinner and breakfast. She even gave me pico de gallo with corn, paying attention to the details that I liked pico de gallo the night before. 2. Chef Amanda's pizza was the best gluten free and cow's dairy free pizza I've ever had. With goat cheese and pulled pork, she made a good one, and I kept eating. 3. Chef Ogi made clams and rice for me and gave me the sauce for the pizza to heat it up in my room. The managers also arranged free birthday drinks for my friend and me. Manager Mark called me earlier to arrange the meals (even breakfasts at 6am I needed), manager Selina even arranged parking for my friend, and manager Arina arranged the fantastic soup with Chef Jazzelyn. They even called me in the morning to ask when I wanted breakfast. Thanks to them, I could survive and function during a conference that usually makes me suffer from all gluten, dairy, and cold/raw food. The restaurant itself was very nice as well. TV in every booth, lighting, and ambiance all made it special. I highly recommend this restaurant for people with diet restrictions, and they relieve me that I could eat during other conferences that can happen in their hotel as well.

We were just looking for a quick snack and this did not disappoint. The service was great, the food came out fast and was cooked to perfection and restaurant was calm and relaxing after a day of sightseeing.

Food was mediocre, but better than your average hotel food. Every dish is at least $20. The restaurant is very attractive, pretty lighting and relaxing atmosphere. If you're looking for legit creole cuisine, try somewhere outside the hotel. If you're hungry, late night for something relatively quick - vitascope is perfect!

Service was ok, I understand the feeling of being unable to fully understand someone asking too many questions at once about the restaurant and the menu. It was a busy night. The drink Voodoo was kinda a let down, weak. The burger was good, the bread fell apart quickly. I mean disintegrated after being picked up. Wondering why a lot of places have this problem is it old bread or is it being stored incorrectly? The spinach artichoke dip was 90% spinach making it taste alittle off. I would go back because it was the closet thing in that massive hotel

Had a good bowl of red beans and rice after a long day of travel. It's listed as a starter but it's a full meal.

My daughter is a huge fan of chicken wings--like, she wants to eat them every day --so she was beyond excited when we walked in. We were seated immediately and ordered drinks--me, a much-needed beer, and my daughter, a soda. For food, we went with the lemon pepper wings, nachos, and onion rings. Let me tell you... these wings were . Some of the best I've ever had! Perfectly crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside . I honestly wish we had a place like this back home in Cali. Our waitress was attentive, friendly, and super helpful, and the atmosphere was cozy and welcoming. Definitely a spot we'll be coming back to next time! Highly recommend for wing lovers.

When we walked in the hostess hardly acknowledged us. I asked if we could sit at the bar and she said yes so we walked over. The bar was full so we went back and asked if we could do a table instead. She laughed in our face and looked at us like we were crazy or inconveniencing her. And she was lounging on the bench on her phone, not even behind the counter to greet guests. There were tons of empty tables that hadn't even been cleaned off yet so we just sat at the cleanest one that at least didn't have dishes on it. It took FOREVER for a waitress to even come to us and take our order. After we placed our orders I think our waitress sensed that we were not having a good time so she apologized for the wait and was very kind and pleasant compared to the hostess. I wanted to try the pepper jack boudin egg-rolls. My boyfriend got the fried local shrimp. I did not like the boudin egg-roll. It was fried very hard and I wasn't the biggest fan of the boudin sausage but I wanted to try it because I never had it. You win some you some. I just ended up eating my boyfriend's shrimp because it had taken so long to get our food that the kitchen was basically getting ready to close so I didn't order anything else. Soooo yea. Not my go to choice for a bar. They did have these cool movie theatre style lounge chair in front of the big screen though so that was cool.

Unfortunately, our experience didn't live up to those expectations. The service was particularly disappointing, especially considering how empty the restaurant was. After taking our drink orders, our server didn't check back with us until we were nearly finished with our meal. What made this more noticeable was watching the tables around us receive regular attention throughout the evening. At one point, someone who appeared to be a manager came to our table, abruptly dropped off a bag containing a loaf of bread, and walked away without saying anything or providing plates. The bread was cold, despite appearing to have been toasted at some point, and we were left cutting it directly on the bag while crumbs went everywhere. The same manager also bumped into the back of my chair several times throughout the evening without ever acknowledging it. We also waited quite a while for our food, and during that time noticed several staff members, including the manager, on their phones. Given the lack of attention we were receiving, that was particularly frustrating. The food itself was underwhelming and the portions were unnecessarily large. Neither of us finished our meals, and by the end of dinner, we weren't interested in staying for dessert. We simply wanted to leave. Tableau certainly looks the part of an upscale restaurant, but our experience didn't match the setting. When you're paying for what is presented as a higher-end dining experience, the details and level of service matter. Unfortunately, those details were missing throughout our visit. There are too many great restaurants in the area for us to choose Tableau again. This was definitely not the white-tablecloth experience we expected.

The dish had that buttery, garlicky sauce and creamy grits, but overall it didn't feel very memorable. For dessert, the chocolate torte was way too sweet for me. It was dense and rich, but leaned heavily on the sugary side and didn't have much balance. Overall, a great ambiance and solid service, but the food didn't quite live up to expectations for me.
