    Gumbo. Brussel sprouts.

Delivery review. Fast delivery. Food was still hot. Brussel sprouts are good. It's a big portion for a starter. Chicken and sausage gumbo is good. A little spicy and not too salty. However, the gumbo shouldn't be put in this paper bowl. While I was eating, the bowl starts to become floppy. Bread that came with it was so hard and no butter or jam with it.

This was my first time returning to 8 Block in years, so to pay ahead of time felt weird at first, but that's the latest procedure. Once seated, my server (think her name was Vajilia, something close to that) took my drink order, explained the buffet stations and then I was on my way. In the past, I used to get the smoked salmon from the meat/cheese/charcuterie station. During this visit, salmon wasn't available, only prosciutto, salami and a few different cheeses. I ordered my omelet and then perused the remaining stations. Once I saw that the grits were still available, I perked up. 8 Block has the BEST GRITS IN TOWN (yup, I wrote it)! By the time I returned to my booth with my coveted grits and plate of sides and fruit, my omelet was ready and delivered to my table. I sat at my booth for about an hour savoring every morsel and almost prepared another bowl of grits but had a few things to do before checkout. Vajilia (sp) was superb and checked on me periodically to see if I needed more hot water for my tea or anything else for my meal. It was the perfect start to my busy Sunday. Another wonderful trip to 8 Block. I'll return soon for more grits ;)

Spinach and kale salad, red beans and rice

Staying in hotel Hyatt Regency and this restaurant is in my hotel. I ordered red beans and rice and asked for corn bread on side. And the spinach and kale salad. Salad was good I had the balsamic vinaigrette. It was late night so I didn't want to add extra protein but you can for extra charge. My red beans and rice looked like good serving it only had one slice of sausage. So I feel like more than one slice should've been in it. The bread was a roll not sure what kind. So I was sad didn't get the cornbread like I had asked. They didn't l charge for cornbread so oh well. I didn't eat much of the 2 rolls were soft and fluffy. They sent 2 packets of Tabasco and 2 packets of salad dressing (plenty), plus they put the plastic cutlery and napkins in as well. I did not eat at the restaurant. It was delivered to my room. It's a $5 delivery charge. It would be good to be told of delivery charge up front. But it was nice saved me time having to leave room late. Came within quoted time.

This is a little bar in the Hyatt Regency. we grabbed some drinks after an evening on Bourbon street. Drinks were good and service was friendly. This is a great place to hang with friends while staying at the Hyatt.

A bargain for a BIG lunch. Really substantial buffet featuring salads, a sandwich making table, loads of grilled veggies, pizza, steam table of entrees, two soups, fresh breads, and desserts. You CAN actually eat a healthy meal in NOLA! For $15.95 including coffee! (If you claim to be a local you get 15% discount). Free valet parking. They definitely need to upgrade the music though. Boring, soulless soundtrack.

Received a waiver for a complimentary breakfast while staying at the Hyatt Regency. As far as hotel breakfasts go, was very impressed.  There was a made-to-order omelette bar with a more eclectic array of toppings than what you might normally find, which included goat cheese (in addition to cheddar or other omelette classics) and shrimp and crawfish, which was a nice nod to the NOLA cuisine. In addition to the omelette bar, there was an extensive buffet station, that had multiple tables, including one for pastries, yogurt and fruit, one for charcuterie, one for hot oatmeal and grits (with all the toppings) and then one for bread pudding, both chocolate and vanilla. Next to the omelette bar they had an array of pre-cooked hot foods, including breakfast potatoes, bacon and sausage, waffles, pancakes, french toast, and of course, biscuits with gravy.  Are there better breakfast options literally all around the hotel in downtown New Orleans? Of course. But for a hotel breakfast, I was very impressed by the quality and array of food that was offered. I also received exceptional service, with a waiter constantly offering more coffee or juice, and many other waiters checking in to confirm that I had found all that I wanted and needed.

    Breakfast buffet 22.95$

Eeeek. 30 dollars for a very below- average buffet style breakfast. They have bread, cereal, cheese, some warm items , and a omelette bar. I got a egg white omelette which was OK. And some assorted meats and fruit. It was decent, and I would've gladly paid about 7.99. However , for 22.95 and having to tip, I highly recommend finding somewhere outside of the hotel . ** the bottomless mimosas however were only 15.00 dollars and looked amazing. So I highly recommend those .

I like this joint!!! DISCLAIMER - I've only patronized 8 Block during some conferences that I've attended at the Hyatt so that just so happens to be my only reference point(s). It's fun, the servers are sweet, super efficient and cool. (Works for me). In those times of said conferences, the place becomes a hustling, bustling cornucopia of old farts such as myself, hotel occupants and convention goers alike. As for the food, I've only had the "appetizer" type stuff that comes along with vendor provided "social hour" invites, but what of that I have had, was pretty FUC'n awesome!!! Shrimp and crawfish are gnarly good, sausage, boudain balls, fried chicken, meats, cheeses, etc... All good!!! Wouldn't necessarily make a special trip to patronize, but if the company wants to send me again, I definitely won't hesitate to stop in for a while!!!

Over priced for the quality (or lack there of). Lots of better places close by, this was just convenient. Will not be back

The restaurant and courtyard are beautiful, with a rich history that adds to the experience. Chris Hannah is one of the best bartenders in the business. He took the time to learn what we enjoyed and crafted cocktails that were absolutely spot on. Beyond the drinks, he was warm, engaging, and even shared a list of local recommendations that ended up being some of the highlights of our trip. Outstanding cocktails, genuine hospitality, and an unforgettable start to our New Orleans adventure.

Named #44 in the Top 50 Best Bars in the World List, I had high expectations. Supposedly…read morereservations were hard to get, but that is because they allot most of the place for walk-ins, so you don't need to put in the effort that I did to book a time a month in advance. We were seated in the upstairs area and tried some of their drinks. We got the Brandy Crusta which is their most popular drink and the Pouvez-Vous Poulet which is a seasonal cocktail. The Brandy Crusta has the cup dipped in sugar with a fairly strong cocktail within. Definitely get this when you are here as that is one of the best Brandy Crustas and is historical. The Pouvez-Vous Poulet is a duck fat washed rum cocktail and is also very delicious. You cannot really go wrong with any cocktail, but definitely order the Brandy Crusta for the true experience here. Though, honestly, while the cocktails are good, it was not as memorable as the other Top 50 Best Bars in the World that I have been to, but I won't dock a star off because of this, since the cocktails and overall experience otherwise were fantastic. Service is good but can be a bit slow, but it is an acceptable tradeoff for a more quiet ambience compared to downstairs.
