Viva Dental in Richardson is a family dentistry that offers general dentistry services. Viva Dental is my go to office for my family's cleanings, maintenance, and most recently setting my two crowns. This is a great location that I'll travel to even though I live in Irving. My Overall Rating - 5 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Food) Atmosphere - Viva Dental is bright and clean. The office contains modern furniture and will make you feel comfortable. There is a small room with video games and a TV for kids, although on my visit I didn't see anyone playing the games. COVID protocols are in full effect. The staff wears masks, you are required to wear one too. I felt very comfortable due to both the décor the protocols. 1 Star. Service - Dr. Truong is the primary dentist. She combines the expert skills of an experienced dentist along with showing empathy. But for this review I will focus on her associate, Dr. Ambriz. She helped me on two occasions, both involving setting my interim and then permanent crowns. Dr. Ambriz was gentle, applied local anesthetic to my root canal, and set my crowns. Both fit perfectly and have given me no issues. What I remember the most is Dr. Ambriz took time to explain the procedure, process, then would let me know when she would begin the next step of the procedure. Expectations go a long way, and in this case, it resulted in great work. 2 Stars. Facility - Each chair is equipped with the ability to watch movies on demand. The staff will allow you to choose a move, wear headphones to listen, and the movies will distract you enough to prevent you from remembering you're getting dental work done. Well played, Viva Dental. 1 Star. Will I Return? - Yes. I go to Viva Dental and see Dr. Truong for my annual checkup, cleaning, and now setting crowns. The staff is great, the dentists are great, and the results are great. This is why I drive from Irving. 1 Star. My Yelp Rating Scale (Sum of all parts): 1 Star - Atmosphere - Is it a cool dive? Perhaps an upscale place? No matter the type, atmosphere plays a big part and I'll give a star if I like it or thinks it has great charm. 1 Star - Service - You can have a great meal with bad service. But that's also what can make a five star joint drop to four. It's important to the dining experience that service is great and on point. 2 Stars - Facility - I'll award up to two stars for the facility, since this is the main reason we go out. Sometimes the extra star is given for value, but it's really all about the facility. 1 Star - Will I come back? - If I know for a fact I'll return, I'll give this a star. A place has to make an impression for me to return. Each Category can be given up to 1 star except food (2 stars) because I consider all these categories important to the overall dining experience. I just went in to have a tooth pulled and I explained to the staff that I have anxiety and get panic attacks and they were so understanding and I really appreciate the fact that the dr. and staff was making sure that I was going ok. I will be going back to have the rest of the dental work done that I need to. Dr. Pham was very gentle I didn't even feel them pull the tooth out. My last dentist retired from her private practice. Called Viva dental for a cleaning, as a new patient. I arrived early called to let them know. They call me in X-ray, more x rays and even video my teeth. Doctor comes in and exams. I asked if I was going to get my cleaning? I was told front desk would discuss that with me. Front desk comes in, I ask again am I going to get my cleaning? I was told it would be long wait, but they could do. I explained as she was the same person I set the appointment with. I have been here an hour and still no cleaning. Paid up and left. Not feeling comfortable making an appointment and not knowing which Dentist I would be seeing. Dr. Ambriz and every staff member I met today were exceptional! I had my first visit today after chipping my tooth this morning. Although I'm not an established patient they worked me into their schedule first thing. The staff and doctor explained every step, what was being done, and ensured that I was comfortable. Although I only scheduled for repair of my chipped tooth, Dr. Ambriz recommended other dental care and performed/took care of all of it today. Both of my children have been patients of Dr. Truong for several years and have had nothing but good experiences. She is always pleasant and patient to a fault, no matter how busy she is or how long a day she's had. My normally anxious 11 year old has become so comfortable with her that he turned down having nitrous during his fillings yesterday. She always sets up proper expectations during a procedure by explaining to the child what she is doing each step of the way and cheerfully counting down so they know how long drilling will last. And I think he still doesn't know he's getting a shot, she's just that good. read more

Worst dentist I've ever been to. Went in just to get a tooth pulled. They changed me an emergency visit when it wasn't an emergency. They also charged me for a surgical tooth removal when surgery wasn't required. They added on and on but couldn't explain the bill. They gave me no antibiotics or any pain medication. They actually lied to me about mixing 2 over the counter meds I could buy and mix and my pharmacist said oh heck no!!! Then after my tooth was pulled something was still bothering me days later. I thought they didn't get it all but I had gotten dry socket and a bone was growing in through the inside of my mouth scraping the side of my tongue causing two holes cutting into my tongue. They charged me again to file that bone down and days later it was back. What should have been a visit under $200 I was charged almost $500 and I'm on disability. I will never go back! I wish now I had never had my tooth pulled. This place has no idea what they are doing. They lied to me.ill have to start all over at another dentist. read more
