Margarita had way too much sweet, cheap mixer that made it un drinkable. Literally didn't even finish half of my glass and left the entire half pitcher . The salsa here is really awesome and extremely flavorful! We took our food Togo so we didn't get to experience the service. I was so disappointed in my last experience that I had marked them off my list. Because they are the only spot I've found that does carnitas in cubes / chunks - versus shredded - I ventured back in. I made sure to call beforehand - instead of trusting the online hours. Customer Service - When I entered the establishment, I greeted the hostess versus her greeting me and when I glanced behind me and saw a server, I greeted her too. Oddly enough, once I said, 'Hello, how are you doing tonight?' both employment tossed beautiful smiles my way and seemed cheerful. I'm 100% an introvert, so even though I've learned to act extroverted for work, I completely understand quiet people. I also have resting _ face unless I'm smiling. So I've learned to remember to smile at people lest I get hit with a 'are you ok?' or 'Smile! It can't be that bad!' Lol. I'm not sure if it's a cultural thing or a youth / generation thing. I was raised believing that you say hello when you enter a room - except when it comes to a business - then, the host / hostess initiates the welcome / greeting. I've noticed that nowadays, in business settings, young people very rarely greet guests first. I've noticed that Latino people rarely greet ME first. Anyway. No stars deducted for this. Just a note for others in case the ladies come off unfriendly. I don't think they are - it appears to becoming the norm. Food I ordered the regular carnitas (not the ones with green chile sauce), substituted beans, rice, guacamole, et al - for french fries) and regular carnitas (not the green chile sauce version) with the regular accompaniments (beans, rice, pico, guac, etc). My carnitas portion was tiny and 50 - 60% of the tiny portion was tough to the point of being inedible. They also gave me a laughably small portion of overcooked French fries. See photos. The dinner I bought for my brother wasn't great either. I'd raved to him about the carnitas. He said his were also tough and chewy. I was so bummed that his first experience was a bad one because we're always trying to turn one another on to new spots - so if I offer up a dud, he never lets me hear the end about it. Lol. Price / Value It wasn't a great value because the carnitas were sparse and overcooked. I can't even eat a lot in one sitting and the amount of French fries they gave me would have angered someone with a regular sized stomach. Lol. Both meals = $30 and I added a $3 tip - despite my lack of greeting / friendliness until I greeted and engaged them because I understand that most servers rely on their tips. Overall Overall, was not a good visit. Will be on lookout for other restaurants that have these types of carnitas and will check back with these folks next year. read more

Like most places, they start you with chips and dip. Chips were warm and this SALSA....greatness! Best I've had in a while. I usually go to La Parilla for my Mexican fix, but no more. I've passed this restaurant so many times and never considered going. I found the deal on Scoutmob and will definitely be a regular!! Friendly service and my food came pretty quickly. The salsa was so good that I out my entree to the side to finish. I ordered the Paella Mexicana: Chicken, steak, shrimp, scallops, onions and tomatoes over a bed of rice and covered with cheese. Great portion. Full of flavor, you can taste each ingredient and they all go well together. Also comes with a side of lettuce, pico and guacamole. I love the guacamole, not sure what they do differently but it has an amazingly fantastic taste. They also have a Tuesday and Saturday margarita special, I'll definitely be partaking next time. It's great Mexican food and worth the drive to Marietta for sure! I came here from Atlanta I live in because a friend recommended it, it was a bit hard to find at first and easy to miss if you aren't paying attention since it's in the corner of a shopping plaza. Food tasted great and came out quickly. Price wise everything is around the same price you would find with similar Mexican restaurant except for the margaritas are only $3 and they are very strong. Staff is super nice and it wasn't busy at all on the Tuesday around 4pm when I came in. It's definitely a hide gem in the area since there are many competitors all around with in 2 miles of it. This review is purely based on the only thing I ever get from here just because it is soooo delicious and soothing when its cold out or you feel under the weather. THE SOPA DE POLLO! (chicken soup) It is so delicious. Big chunks of chicken and avocado plus rice, cilantro and onion and tomato in a wonderful broth. Its like a hug for your tummy. So good. My husband and I have been on the hunt for decent Mexican joint near our house since we moved to Powder Springs/Austell area and I think that I might have found a winner. I am always looking for a place that doesn't just have the regular Tex-Mex menu but also offers some variations. This place fits that bill. It is located in the Kroger Shopping Center and is easy to miss if you are not looking for it. We came on a Saturday night around 7pm and were seated easily at a table. They were busy but not overly packed. Service was wonderful and we were immediately greeted and our drink orders were taken and we were brought out chips and salsa. The chips and salsa were basic fare and nothing too special. We also ordered cheese dip which was the standard white cheese dip served at most Mexican restaurants, but is was creamy and yummy. My husband ordered the seafood chimichanga which was packed with scallops, shrimp, crabmeat, and rice. It's topped with cheese dip and served with a side of lettuce, pico de gallo, guacamole, and sour cream in this tostada bowl. My husband loved it. It said it was excellent. We ordered a side of spicy red tomatillo salsa that he ate with it and he said that it was really very good and he could tell that everything was made fresh. I ordered the Chunky Guacamole, which was delicious! It was soooo good. It was seriously some of the best guacamole I have ever had in a restaurant. It was chunky and seasoned really nicely and had a good mixture of avocado, tomato, onion, pepper, cilantro, and lime. It was really done nicely. I also had the ceviche! It is only available on weekends and it is served in a dish with sliced avocados on top and it is absolutely AMAZING! I would seriously order it every time. It was so good that I could have licked the bottom of the bowl! It was just the right amount of shrimp and tomato and peppers and lime. It was delectable and just soooooo good! I WANT MORE!!! YUM!! They serve it with crackers, but it is not meant to be eaten with crackers. It is meant to be eaten on a tostada or with tortilla chips, so just make sure you have tortilla chips to eat it with. It is really super good. There are many other things that look amazing on the menu. I can't wait to come back and try them! I think what distinguishes a mediocre Mexican restaurant from a great Mexican restaurant is how well the owners/cook embellishes their food...let's crank it up a bit by personalizing the food for the customer to want to come back. This is a great lunch option for people who work in Marietta. They are very well staffed and the service was friendly and QUICK! The restaurant offers complimentary, unlimited chips and salsa. There are lunch specials for 5.99; however, the lunch menu is pretty fantabulous and ginormous. I cleaned my Pollo Con Arroz plate. I was going to order the chicken soup, but I wasn't sure if it was going to fill my tummy. My friend ended up ordering the chicken soup; it was a good portion and looked very hearty. Two minor things I don't really like includes the fact that the restaurant is really dimly lit. I think some people prefer that, but I'm the kind of girl who likes to eat her lunch in a brightly lit space, preferably huge fluorescent lights. Also the chairs here are very light and flimsy. My friend hanged her purse on the chair and when she got up, the chair fell over. I felt as though I might break the chair, myself. Very friendly people. The service was super attentive so much so that I wish I could review them strictly on that. With that said...unfortunately the food was not on par with the service. The queso was watery. The beef in my burrito was grainy. The chips in the nachos were soggy and the chicken tasted odd. The refried beans tastes spoiled. Like I said, the service was awesome. Overall atmosphere is a typical Mexican restaurant vibe. Good background music, colorful decorations, and an overall great looking staff. Booths are definitely where you want to sit. The middle seats feel as if you have no privacy. The menu has great drink options! Frozen Raspberry was the drink for the night. For a Saturday night, we were in and out in about 90 mins. Absolutely loved the server. Very polite, and knowledgeable on whats on the menu. Came here before watching a movie across the street. They have a outdoor patio area as well. The staff is really friendly and accommodating. I absolutely love their chips and salsa, but other than that, the food is just okay. Their queso is a little watery compared to other places I've been. My friend ordered a beer on tap but the beer was warm. Even the chill glass they poured it in didn't cool it down enough. I ordered the chicken taco salad. It wasn't to bad. This place is pretty cheap so that's a plus. We order queso and two taco salads and the bill came out to be about $20 bucks. I've been eating here since I was a little girl, I'll be 28 soon and I still find myself craving Viva Mexico. I've watched young servers there grow into adults and new severs come in. I've now grown to bring my children and family here. my son loves the chicken soup. I can make all my favorite dishes from Viva Mexico, change up recipes to make them more personal but it's something about the food here that's so nostalgic. amidst the pandemic, they are doing curbside pickup, which is a lifesaver. Customer service over the phone is great. The food is cooked quick, I've managed a restaurant before so I know all the tricks but I still love this place. While this place isn't exactly authentic Mexican, the food is still good. The shrimp fajita taco salad and the chunky guacamole are delicious. My husband has had the fajitas for one (which can really feed 2) and the chimichanga and liked both. I didn't really care for the regular guacamole, thought it was too plain. Also thought the rice and the taquitos were just average. The margaritas however I can drink all night. The strawberry was the best in my opinion. Also like the complimentary chips and salsa. I like that they don't just play the usual Mexican style music and play all kinds of Spanish music like salsa and bachata. Hard to find anywhere in this area that plays it.
