I am concerned about the sanitation. I saw nothing that indicated that the clippers and other metal tools were sterilized. They are in a small glass bowl and moved directly from client to client. There appears to be a small amount of solution at the bottom of the bowl but no cleaning occurred between clients. I did not notice any cleaning of the pedicure or manicure areas between clients as well. read more

Went to Viva Nails today for the first time. Fabulous experience! I was a walk-in, didn't have an appointment. Even though they were very busy (Saturday afternoon if course), they took me back shortly after I arrived. I got a gel manicure to fix the awful mess from last week's manicure at a different salon. It took them the better part of an hour to remove the old gel. But my technician was very patient, gentle and skilled. I am VERY happy with my manicure, and I'll be back. And, oh boy the way, they take safety and cleanliness seriously. I was quite comfortable in their environment. I highly recommend this shop if you're searching for a great nail salon! Would give six stars if I could. I was visiting Lexington and selected Viva based on other Yelp reviews. I'm so glad I did. I arrived mid-day on a Thursday and was seated immediately for a pedicure. The salon is very bright and inviting. No crazy loud music or TVs blaring. The stations and all the tools are immaculate. I don't know if I've ever had such a gentle pedicure. The technician took his time and made sure everything was perfect. The leg massage was heavenly. I came here hoping to find a cheaper place to get my gel acrylic set compared to where I usually go. While their prices were not any lower (50 for my full gel set and 25 for a normal polish fill in, and 40 for a gel set fill in), I was impressed with a speedy job well done. I came in around 3:15 on a Sunday and was immediately helped. Micheal worked on my nails and he was very personable and clearly experienced. He was gentle around the cuticle area and worked with me to get exactly what I wanted. I appreciated how effortlessly he copied the Pinterest picture I showed him. I was really impressed with the quality of work of the employees at this nail salon! The woman that did my nails did an excellent job. She was extremely meticulous and made sure every nail looked perfect. I got a SNS manicure for the first time and my nail tech walked me through what she was doing and how to remove the nails once it's time to do that. I was really impressed here. I took the owner up on her offer by giving her a chance to make it right. What does that imply to most customers? A complimentary opportunity to do better. Nope. We got to the end and she asked how I'd be paying! After I picked my jaw up off the floor I told her there was absolutely no indication that I was coming back to give them MORE money after my horrific first experience. She did since my nails were 'due' for replacement (around the 3-week mark) I had to pay. I said NO, because the last nails started breaking immediately after their application, not after weeks had passed. We went back and forth for a few minutes, and after she finally understood where I was coming from, offered a 50% discount. Never in my life have I encountered something so brazen! I paid and got out of there as fast as I could. After 2 weeks the most recent nails started PEELING at the tips. Have you ever heard of SNS peeling???? Nope, me neither. Needless to say, I don't know what materials they're using - because the process is pretty standard - but it's absolute crap and I won't be back again. Euro Spa on Harrodsburg Road has always impressed me and I never should have strayed, no matter how nice everyone is at Viva Nails. read more

Friendly staff, no wait time, practiced proper sanitation throughout my own and my daughters entire service. Though, the quality of work I received was not up to par. I had sns removed and reapplied on my natural nails. They're clumpy, uneven, sns attached to my cuticle and under my nail. They're flat in some spots and bubbled in others. I'm definitely going to return, but I had to go with four stars for my experience the first time around. I'll update my review after I visit again. I was a walk-in for gels on my natural fingernails. I was in a chair in under a minute. The technician was very friendly, but when I asked for just a "dark gray", there was a bit of confusion. I ended up with a "hot cocoa" kind of color (that looks gray sometimes), but I'm not super picky so it didn't really matter. But I DID ask for matte gels at least three times during the service and didn't get them until the owner realized the technician hadn't done them. I wasn't going to bother, but was super impressed when they noticed what I asked for wasn't done. That's going above and beyond for sure. I could've used another coat of the color (or two) after they finished, as my nails are kind of grossly see-through (they're pretty long), which I don't dig. And I had one chip on my dominant hand within 24 hours... Which I thought was the point of gels (lasts longer), but I think I'd still try them out again now that I know what's up. For $25? (Plus $10 tip) Worth it. read more

The leg and foot massage was mediocre at best and my feet are still a little rough, indicating my nail tech did not make sure he had gotten all of my rough spots. They are friendly, but they cut two of my toes and the fingernail polish wasn't even on all my toes. I went back because I paid $65.00 for this. He painted one toenail and that was it. I had to come home and redo all of them. I have never been so dissatisfied, I have a lot of friends that goes there and they want be back either. Probably will never come back. Poor customer service. Inconsistent pricing. Poor quality. All of my nails are poorly shaped and don't match. I showed the tech a picture of what I wanted and he was very confused. He rushed me into picking a color and was rude. I got a matte coat. He missed parts of nails so shiny gloss is noticeable on the edges of my nails. He got matte on my skin and It burned when drying it under the led light. I got chrome on 4 nails (2 per hand) and I asked him to redo the right hand because the chrome was scratched and streaking. I don't think he put the same color on so now I have two different shades of chrome on. He left my skin and around my nails very messy. Every mani I have had previously came with a hand message and treatment. Nothing extra here. Over priced and poor quality of work. read more

I really love this salon. The staff is beyond accommodating. They take time to make sure they heard you correctly as to what it is you want done. It is quiet there, very clean, music is at the right volume and can put you to sleep. My pedicures, and just yesterday a fill in, have been the best I have received in Lexington in the last two years. My shop of 10yrs went downhill with their services and I went salon hunting. They got the gel all the way to the base of the nail without me saying anything (I'm picky about that because otherwise it looks grown out), and they didn't pressure me to cut my nails all the way down like some salons do.
