My bf and I each got a "foot" massage in their shared room, a small space with 4 massage beds set up adjacent to each other. The masseuses spoke zero English, and barely even provided any instructions or hand gestures to indicate where to go/what to do, so already from the beginning there was a lack of effective communication. The "foot" massage here is fully clothed and includes work on your feet and legs, but also, neck, arms, shoulders, head, and back, similar to other places like this. My bf's massage was okay, at best. But mine was pretty bad. The masseuse applied very little strength or technique to my neck and limbs, even as she went her hardest. She basically repeated what I had already done for myself that morning -- moisturized my neck, arms, legs, and feet with lotion. Not "massaged", just moisturized. I'm really shocked that someone with a job like this could be so hopeless and incompetent with her hands. Seriously, my 5 year old niece could have massaged better, and I'm not even exaggerating. Once I flipped over, the masseuse used her forearms and elbows to massage my back... FINALLY SOME PRESSURE! But that was less than half the massage, and it wasn't even that good, it was just better than zero percent pressure on my muscles, which was what I was getting prior. It doesn't seem like the workers here take their jobs seriously or care about their clientele like other massage parlors do. And they're not very professional. Several months ago, my friend and I booked massages here a week in advance, and THEY cancelled on us just 2-3 hours before our reservation time the day of, totally ruining our plans for that day (the masseuses probably didn't show up for work)... I still decided to give them a chance this past weekend. But unfortunately, they fell way short of providing the services we paid for on this visit. I do my best to support businesses and give them the benefit of the doubt, and I understand that sometimes they're just having a bad day. But I also think the public needs to BE WARNED that you may be wasting your time and money here, so hopefully you can make an informed decision when choosing a place to get a massage. read more

Husband and I came here for foot massage because our normal go to place was full (called around 7:30pm) and Vive la Vie had opening for us at 8pm. My massage was great- I appreciated that he worked all areas of my lower legs and not just my feet; I especially like getting my calf muscles massaged. He applied good, strong pressure which I like but did ask if it was too much pressure. This was "foot" massage but felt we got a full body massage as starts with neck, head and arms massage and ends with turning over for back and back of the legs massage. My therapist seemed limited in his English, "it's okay?" but the girl working on my husband had better grasp of English. Hubby said his massage was very good, also. Called around 5pm on Saturday 3/13 and was able to make an appointment for 2 "foot massages". $30 each is definitely a fair price. Arrived and was taken to the back. They set up quickly and got to work. The girl who massaged me was really great on my head, arms and back - but the massage on my lower legs was torture and the foot massage was so underwhelming. The foot massage is normally my favorite part, but not this time. My boyfriend said his massage was amazing all the way around. I read on a previous review that they have a massage bundle package that you can purchase and during my massage I was thinking about buying it. When our massages were over I asked the guy at the front desk about the bundle package and he had no clue what I was asking for. So the prepaid massage bundle was not available to me. Sucks. Oh.. Erik's Deli is right next door and they must have been closing and cleaning up cause we could hear them banging dishes and talking through the wall. My body gets easily stressed from all the hard work I do at bakery aand just driving around from one place to another almost everyday. So my body tends to get stressed and I build up a lot of knots in my back and leg. Now I have been to many massage places on the El Camino street and any times I have been disappointed. When I think I found a good place I have hope that when I go back the next time it would be just as good...but unfortunately that is not true. Somehow they just become worse and worse. Sad, really until I found this place. Angel massage is truly a place that deserves my 5 stars. Now it's a little more pricey than the average foot massage place but they do their job here correctly. I went here twice and twice I received a very satisfying massage. When you go there do the 70 minute hot stone massage for 50 bucks. It is worth it. They will ask you where you are most stressed and they will work that area until those knots of yours are loosened. Even if they don't ask they will loosen it for you when they massage you cause they can feel the hard spots when they massage you. Very nice of them. So yeah this will be my number 1 place to go to for massages. There treatment masage is really amazing too. They were really work on the area of your pain and it really feels amazing. I only tried once so I am not referring to other massagers here, but my masseuse doesn't really know about the massage spot for muscle and tendon, pressing skill is mediocre, and in the middle of massage she went out for hot towel and stopped by to pick up some food and came back chewing the food while proceeding the massage. Min Tip is $10, for a $35 massage it equals to 30% tip; for a $45 massage it's more than 20%. I understand massage has higher tip rate, but forcing customer to pay the unwilling tip is not proper at all. read more

Let's just say if someone I knew asked if they should go there. I'd tell them to save their money. I decided to go for the whole body over foot $60 vs $30. I never got the name but I had a female masseuse. This might be the worst I've had. There was a sharp elbow on my back Rollin on knots from all the wrong angles. Massaging my rib cage and bones? Like I get if your new and I've always just accepted some will be better. But there was absolutely no feel for muscle structure or comfort in general. It was later in the afternoon but it truthfully felt like she didn't care the whole time. The whole routine was different on each side... I've never experienced that. I also overheard the guy one room over saying it was awful and asked for someone else. The main reason I came on here was because when I didn't want to tip the suggested "minimum of $10" we got in a stand-off as I was being pressured and other coworkers were peeking over. I know what is customary and that this is important for part of one's income. But I am tipping for a service I thought was awful, you already got $60 out of me(I know it's cheap). Idk why the low ratings here - this place is great! They can always fit you in, even at busy times, and they are always very professional. The therapists don't talk much - which to me is a big plus - and the facility is pretty basic. It's clean and neat, but if you're looking for a bunch of spa-decor, mood music and diffusers, go somewhere else. Made a reservation for a foot massage the other day 20 minute prior to arrival and they were able to accommodate! The receptionist at the door was very friendly and led me into the communal foot massage room with 4 leather chairs. Foot massage started off with a warm foot bath while the masseuse did a thorough scalp, shoulder, arm, and hand massage. The masseuse used an eye cover and then wore gloves for the foot massage. The actual foot massage was decent. The next part of the massage was a thorough fully clothed back massage. The masseuse used a lot of finger pressure which was very comfortable. The ambiance was relaxing with soothing music in the background. They accept credit cards with no surcharges and also have a Buy 10 Foot Massages for $170 program. read more

I never got to try this place. My review is on the customer experience I received trying to call to make an appointment. 1st call: A lady with a thick non-American accent answers, and salutes. I explain I want to make an appointment and would like to know their availability. She answered something in a foreign language and hung up on me. I assumed positive intent. I called back immediately thinking she may have hung up by mistake. 2nd call: Same lady answers and salutes (in English) the name of the spa and a salutation. I continue to explain I called to make an appointment and we got disconnected. She again speaks a foreign language and hangs up on me. The number I called is the one listed here in Yelp for the place: (408) 985-1218. I thought I would at least figure out WHAT she's trying to communicate, so I called a third time. It must have been left off the hook because I got a continuous busy tone. I would appreciate if businesses who hire immigrants at least make sure the people they hire: a) speak fluent English, and b) have good Western manners. I don't think there is any culture in the planet where this behavior would be considered acceptable, but you never know. Maybe where she comes from it is. The customer service is very nice, i called them to make an appointment at 4pm, but the traffic is so bad, which causes me 20min late. They called me around 4:10 to confirm the appointment and tell me they can postpone my appointment to 4:30. I really appreciate their waiting. 2. The massager are very professional, I just finished a long trip, my lower back and neck kinda bother me a lot. I use to go here a lot because I use to receive good customer service and massages. I can say this last time I was very disappointed getting a hot stone massage. I had made an appointment a couple weeks ago for 11:30am and when I arrived at 11:20am it was closed. Their hours say they open at 10:00am and no one was there (doors locked and open sign off). The masseuse didn't get there until about 11:25 and then when I was getting charged for the massage, they charged me $5 more dollars than what's listed on their website. On top of that they wanted to charge me an additional fee for using my debit card. After dealing with that I was hoping my massage would be better service than I received. The masseuse was over 5 minutes late in starting my massage and then finished 10 minutes earlier. I was very disappointed. Then when I still gave her a good tip, of course not the maximum because she cut my massage time off. She looked at the amount and laughed in my face. I was just appalled by the service. Disclaimer: This is the first massage place I've been to, so take my review with a grain of salt. All the same, I do find speaking of your clients right over them to be a little rude, whether you think they understand your language or not. I'd purchased two Groupons and called ahead to make an appointment for a couple's massage as a present for my boyfriend, who likes hot stone massages. To start, they had apparently not written in their appointment book that this was for a couple's massage even though I'd clearly asked the lady on the phone whether they had them available and, after she'd told me that they did in fact have a couple's massage room to accommodate the request, told her that this is what I'd like to make the appointment for. Fortunately, it looked like if we waited for 10 minutes or so, the couple's room would be cleared up, so we opted to wait. The couple's room is a corner in the back under a kind of noisy vent that I believe the soothing music is being played to counteract. The massage itself was mixed at best--the massage to my back, shoulders, and arms was pretty decent. The massage for my legs, however, was curiously painful. My masseuse seemed obsessed with digging his thumbs into my thighs and was oblivious to the occasional yelp of pain from me. (There was a comment to the masseuse working on my boyfriend, of which I only caught the Mandarin for "soft" or "flabby," although the latter interpretation may only be the way my mother uses it. I'm not skinny, so perhaps I'm being over-sensitive on this one, and the comment was mumbled so I may have misheard.) Also, there's a nerve that runs along the side of the shin that he kept hitting while massaging my lower leg, causing a shooting pain sensation up the leg. My boyfriend reports a similar problem with his masseuse regarding this nerve, which he actually later told me about as he's got a far better grasp of muscular anatomy than I do--at the time, I only knew something this guy kept pressing on was causing me a lot of pain. One thing the masseuse did comment clearly on was my hyperhidrosis. Plainly put, my hands and feet pretty much don't stop sweating. I'm a disgusting human being through genetics (I inherited it from both parents, who both have a much milder case than mine), and there's honestly very little that can be done practically to counteract this. Hearing it once again discussed over my head in Mandarin, and the usual Chinese speculation that it is tied to poor circulation of qi, was an unpleasant experience at best and seems really unprofessional to me, regardless of the relative innocence of the comment. People with yucky conditions tend to be sensitive about it, and while I do look mostly Caucasian, that's not always a safe bet that I don't understand enough of your language to know what you're saying about me. I'm sure someone who has gotten more massages will be able to say whether the massage itself is of an acceptable or unacceptable quality, but for the service and discomfort I am quite sure I won't be back :( read more

i get massages occasionally when i am stressed out. Was referred here by a friend who said they give the best swedish/foot massages and i wasn't disappointed. The 75 min Hot stone swedish massage makes you feel really relaxed and eases all the knots formed sitting in front of your computer all week. If you are in the software industry in the bay area and are stressed out. I'd definitely recommend a visit to Angel Spa for the Hot Stone massage to get the stiffness in your neck and back down. I experienced a horrible deep tissue massage here last Friday night. I did book over the phone about an hour before the massage, which was great. But I wonder if this massage therapist (her name was Lisa Z.) was mad that I made her stay later than she wanted to on a Fri night. She went at my back like she was massaging her ex-boyfriend. I tightened up, squirmed, jumped, moved away. But she never let off. I even said that hurts, but she still went at my body like "you deserve this pain, b*!" I have never felt so much rage through someone's hands before. I came out feeling totally abused. And to boot, this went on for 90 mins! In retrospect, I shouldn't even have tipped anything. My body was definitely red, and my bruise on my leg became even bigger. She was totally unaware of what she was doing, insensitive to her client's tolerance and pain level (didn't even ask if pressure is okay... maybe she asked me once in the beginning. When I said okay doesn't mean you can go harder!). This lady needs more training and possibly anger management course. I've patronized many massage therapists, and this is one of the worst. I LOVE this place!!! I try to pace myself and only come once a fortnight but the truth is I often come once a week, I just love it that much! I've only ever had the foot reflexology massage which is amazing for $20 and is basically a full body massage anyway. I find the place quiet, dark and soothing, subtle music plays, the masseuse's know what they're doing and it's always just a pleasant relaxing experience. One time, the best massage I've EVER had ANYWHERE was with a masseuse called Jason! Tried this massage business and was pleasantly surprised. A masseuse named Kato was very attentive and on top of things. For $40 I got an 1 hour massage and he generally was good at acupressure, deep tissue (elbow/finger push style for the knots) and feet massage. I am a working professional in silicon valley at the computer for most of work related activities. Therefore problem area is the neck and shoulders. i would highly recommend kato for his ability to get those knots out! I play sports so my shoulder and back are usually more difficult to work on, keep that in mind. Kudo's Angel Massage Spa, will return for sessions in the future! read more

I have recommended and referred many people to give them a try. However I must admit, over the past year I've noticed a substantial decline in service quality and professionalism. I stay up to date with other customer reviews by reading over them prior to each visit; just to get a heads up about any changes to possibly expect. My most recent visit was a couple nights ago. I did a walk-in for my choice treatment... "Combo B", which is a 45 min foot reflexology and 45 min Swedish massage for $55. I've noticed the last few times I've gone that they developed a habit of overbooking customers, causing us long wait times or shorting us on our services by rushing through our treatment and/or cutting the time short. My most recent experience had me waiting 10-15 minutes for my reflexology massage, which was mediocre due to the girl rushing through my treatment AND the noise of them constantly chatting amongst themselves while they worked on other customers in the 6 person room AND the noisy establishment next door that shares a wall with the reflexology area. The banging on the wall is nerve-wrecking to say the least. Then towards the end of my foot massage another worker came and whispered in my ear, informing me that they were very busy and had no more rooms and asked if I would like to get my massage right there in the reflexology area. WHAAAAAT??? DID I MENTION THAT THE SWEDISH MASSAGE IS A "CLOTHES-OFF" TREATMENT??? I swear, I SNAPPED!!! I quickly turned my head and looked dead at her (towel still over my eyes. Because if I removed it, my instant look of rage would have burned her face OFF!). I whispered Loudly, "ARE YOU CRAZY??? Do you not see the 10 other people in this area??? I clenched my teeth and bit my tongue the whole time without cussing her out because I know she was ordered to come service me and she was probably scared to death and wanted to just be done already. When she said she was done after 30 minutes, I said, "WHATEVER! Please leave so I can get dressed and leave." I quickly got dressed and she didn't even meet me outside my door with water. Proven rookie! I went straight to the reception desk and started taking $60 out of my wallet. The lady at the front desk asked if I like. I chose to continue to bite my tongue. But feel free to Imagine the look I gave her. I pulled out another $5, (totalling $65... Which includes over an 18% Tip) , just because I'm that kind of patron, good or bad service. THEN the lady at the desk took my money, counted it, then looked back at me and proceeded to fix her face to say the Unbelievable. She smile and said, "We suggest a $15 tip for this treatment!" I asked her to repeat what she just said and she did. MY TONGUE BROKE FREE, Y'ALL! I almost lost a couple of teeth trying to hold my bite. I went OFF! I said, "Listen carefully Lady! First... You don't tell a customer how much a tip should be! Average tip runs 15%-20%. You got 18% on a BS service! She proceeded to try to explain to me that they worked Hard and deserved a $15 tip. Then my tongue took over, controlling the volume of my voice and everything. I yelled at her and told her she doesn't to tell the customer how well her workers did! And if she wants people to pay $15 on this BS treatment package, then she needs to raise the package price to $60. Then I told her that she will not see another dime from me now or Ever again. She quickly agreed and pacified me with acceptance of the $65. I reached over the counter and took $5 back, leaving her with only $60. I told her to give that $5 to the reflexology girl. Then yelled out as I walk out the door, "Y'all just lost a loyal and frequent customer!" ATTENTION FELLOW PATRONS!!!
