Many different flavors and types of teas and toppings, well-mixed, full flavor, NOT powdery or watered down and the bubbles are well soaked and chewy. This place is a bit of a hike all the way to the west side. But being one of the few options in Manhattan, I think it's a decent option. The bubble tea is no where near the quality you get in California, and options are slightly fewer but still hits the spot. There are some other more "gourmet" versions on the island, including some "all natural" joints in chinatown, but those are just gnarly. Expect your typical boba here. read more

Vivi is really close to where I live so I've tried practically everything on the menu already : The milkteas all taste very similar to each other (for example, the thai tea doesn't have that authentic flavour and just tastes like the regular milk tea). That being said, the regular milk tea tastes good; a very solid 3.5 stars. The moo milk just tastes like 2% milk, but then again that IS what they're advertising so I don't know why I was expecting something extravagant ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. The ice jelly drinks are very refreshing because they have chunks of fruit and jelly. We originally got these because my sister is vegan, then we realized that all their milkteas are VEGAN FRIENDLY . I've been to Vivi twice, since its near located nearby. There seems to be a decent selection of drinks, but I was pretty disappointed with my last one as it was just really bland. I got the oolong milk tea, which honestly just tasted like a black tea with milk. No oolong flavor. Instead of pearls, I got the grass jelly - but I found that to be really disappointing as well. I don't know if they make it in-house or not, but it didn't taste like anything at all. The texture was a bit too thin and jiggly, and disintegrated in my mouth right away - so wherever the grass jelly is being sourced from, it seems really watered down. This is unfortunately the closest and biggest bubble tea shop near me. I was never a big fan of Vivi, but seeing how the closet bubble tea place near my house and work seems to be Vivi, I don't really have any other options lol At least the one near my house is decent, this one can't even make a hot green milk tea correctly. I've never had one that tasted like barley tea. It's so bitter especially the after taste. I imagine the tea had been steeped for too long or they used an old batch. The tea's pretty weak too, so all I'm tasting is milk and barley-like tea. Some people might be into that, but that's not what I wanted lol I wish I could've gotten their brown sugar latte because I know it's really good, but it's only available cold and it was freezing outside lol read more

As I told my coworker, "I am ALL ABOUT this place." Brand new, tasty, and very, very reasonably priced, Vivi Bubble Tea is going to be a real contender in Hell's Kitchen, especially since its unique aesthetic and menu offerings set it apart. For starters, the bubble tea. Just the right sweetness (though they offer many different levels, I didn't specify) and the tapioca pearls were perfectly sized, not one got stuck. Their big seller seems to be the milk tea, which is dairy-free (and the tapioca pearls are gluten-free as well!) And a large fruit tea only set me back $4+tax, an excellent price in Hell's Kitchen! Did I mention that their strawberry tea has actual strawberry in it? Yeah, no corners cut. They also offer ramen, dumplings, and popcorn chicken, with an equally impressive price point but slightly more limited variety, as if they are just add-ons to the bubble tea venue. I've gotten to try the pork dumplings and I found them to be very good! Perfectly steamed, with good filling (not great but good) and an absolute bargain at 8 for $5.50. I also got to try the pepper and salt chicken - at $3.95, absolutely delightful. Nicely seasoned and crispy. Lastly, the space itself has this sort of gothic-kawaii vibe that I'm sure I looked ridiculous standing in, but it was overall a very cute, very nice space. Coupled with the big-eyed, princess-crowned skulls and Astroboy statue out front, you have something tough to duplicate, or even put down in words. Big mistake, When I passed by my first ViVi store I saw that beside bubble teas that they sell Pop Corn Chicken, and Taiwanese BBQ sausage on a stick @ $3.95. the menu flyer listed Ramen, Dumplings, Sushi Rolls and more food stuff for sale. So I tried the BBQ sausage and it was not bad and cooked on the spot and not kelp under heat lamps. So If you need some quick meat intake these babies should do the trick. A few days later I went back with the intention to try some of the other food items. and I order the Pop Corn Chicken with Pepper Salt seasoning, BBQ sausage, Shrimp Tempura, and a Taro Bubble milk tea. The the chicken had too much Pepper and not the best cuts but you get what you payed for, so OK, good. The Shrimp Tempura was OK, but the size of the shrimps used is small. I chomped down the BBQ sausage. Now I popped my tea and MEH, BLA, YUCKO!!! My tea tasted like they added Benzine and Turpentine for flavoring, It was absolutely the worst bubble tea I ever had, and tossed it after taking 3 sips. Good thing this was not my first bubble tea because if it was I would have never had had another one. Glad that finally there is a Taiwanese tea spot near midtown west/Hell's Kitchen, however, vivi was never a good spot, it would be great if it was a Kung fu tea. Bubble tea never impressed. Tea wasn't flavorful and the tapioca was either soggy or hard to chew. Other drinks were mostly blah, obviously artificial to the extreme. And the fact that this place sells sushi is just another hit in the face. Doesn't even make any sense. When we were around Time Squares, we figured we wouldn't find a nice bubble tea place since most of them are back in Chinatown. We just yelped the place up and this pop right up within walking distance for us (YES, PLEASE WALK IN NYC, driving is a bad idea since you won't be able to drive more than 10 MPH and no parking for ya). The place is small but very asian decoration inside. The price is okay (not too cheap nor expense) but they give you a lot of tapioca (literally a lot). The passion fruit drink was flavored well for my tastes (not too sweet). It was not sweet enough for my husband's insatiable sweet tooth. The boba left something to be desired. Some were overcooked, much too soft, and others were a weird consistency, mushy on the outside and undercooked on the inside. To me the only explanation for this would be that they mixed some overcooked boba with some old boba. None of the boba was great. We had an occasional OK one. I think that they probably don't get enough foot traffic to keep the boba fresh. I would try this place again (maybe) on a busy day to see if we have better luck. read more

I feel very grateful to live about a minute away from this place, but this place definitely benefits from being so convenient for me. For the most part, I don't feel like I've ever been disappointed by anything I've gotten here; however, I have never felt very strongly about anything here either. If I didn't like bubble tea so so much, I would probably feel more or less indifferent, but things here are definitely above "serviceable." I generally prefer their fruit teas to milk teas... I often don't feel great after drinking their milk teas. I've gotten a wide variety of flavors by now and everything's fine--I wouldn't say anything stands out. They do have a lot of real fruit which is nice, especially with something like their longan. There isn't really a strong tea flavor to a lot of what they serve here, which is fine by me, but I wouldn't call any aspect of their bubble tea a premium product. The Lychee (and Lychee Jelly) here is quite good. The tapioca is generally mediocre; I don't really have any complaints. One interesting thing about this place is that they have quite an extensive food menu, covering everything from sushi to popcorn chicken to Japanese food, like takoyaki. I've had a couple different flavors of their popcorn chicken, and it's not bad for the price--actually kind of a comfort food in a way. They also have Taiwanese sausages, which are decent for the price. I don't know if I trust their sushi, but maybe I'll report back one day. One thing I really appreciate about this location is that they offer punch cards, so that you get a free LARGE bubble tea every 10 times you buy it from this location specifically. Convenient spot in my neighborhood; I'd say it's comparable to the Quickly boba chain. Got the coconut milk boba and the garlic popcorn chicken. Both were good but had some stomach problems right after! This is a tiny hole in the wall bubble shop with decent bubble tea. I like the fact that you can pick your sugar level for your tea, they also have hot and cold bubble tea. During the winter, some people like having hot tea. If you don't want bubbles, there are other options such as herbal grass jelly. I had a milk tea but I really want to try the Yakult teas one day. They also serve snacks if you are hungry. There isn't really a clearly defined waiting area, so I definitely saw people walk into the store and line up behind the line of people who had already placed their orders and were waiting for their drinks. The atmosphere of the place is relatively small and average in cleanliness. Some of the tables were sticky and not cleaned for a while. I ordered and the staff were relatively nice, like any other Boba place. The drinks took 10 minutes to come (I ordered two drinks). The drinks however were petty good and I enjoyed it! Unfortunately, this is the only bubble tea place in Hell's Kitchen so they've got the market cornered. So the the bubble teas are pretty good and the food is mediocre. The main issue for them is that they are incredibly and I mean almost unbelievably slow every time I've gone there. One time I got the popcorn chicken and it took 25 minutes. In the time it took them to get my order ready I could have slaughtered a chicken, diced it up, seasoned, breaded and deep fried it myself. In fact, even just getting bubble tea once it took 15 minutes. It's like watching grass grow. Super exciting. The Vivi in Hell's Kitchen is solid. Probably the best boba place in the neighborhood. There are no sugar and low sugar options that aren't overpoweringly sweet. The tapioca balls themselves are a consistently decent texture and taste, they're barely ever raw or rancid, mostly just fine. They also have food options which are also pretty good. They have Taiwanese sausages (which are sweet but tasty), savory chicken bites (in a variety of flavors), and onigiri which are all decent on the go snacks. However, the wait for food is crazy long, even when there isn't much of a line. In Hell's Kitchen, it's definitely better to come to Vivi over Coco down the street. This doesn't mean it's always better, Bc tbh the quality of place depends from location to location. This location is solidly fine. There usually is a line during rush hour, but it moves fairly quickly unless you order food. Overall, if you're in the mood for boba tea in Hell's Kitchen, goto Vivi, Bc the other ones are either in restaurants and will take forever to wait for, or are just pretty terrible (in this area). read more

The milk tea here is just ok. I ordered a tiramisu milk tea with pearls. The tea itself was pretty tasteless, which is disappointing because it sounded like a really interesting flavor. They didn't add nearly enough tapioca to the drink..there were a total of like 12 pearls!
