Be sure to come here during non-peak hours, so basically during office hours on weekdays. Avoid weekdays around holidays and avoid weekends as it gets overly packed and you can be waiting for an hour! WALK-INS ONLY. The check in process is chaotic when busy, and sometimes they don't go down the list properly / in order, so the experience is not the best. During off peak hours, the service is fast and I get my hair cut in 10 minutes! They are very quick but they do a good job. Prices have gone up over the years but reasonable compared to anywhere else. BRING CASH to save a couple of bucks. read more

I have been a customer of Vivid Image Hair Salon for 14 years. The family's own business is well-known and respected in the area. After reading Kevin K.'s review I couldn't stay aside. It is online bullying, a made-up story. There is no way, that whatever that person described, could be unnoticed. The place is wildly opened to the human eye, it is mostly packed, and people are in the waiting area all the time. I have a young son myself who gets haircuts on a regular basis in the salon requesting Kevin. I wonder, how does it feel to ruin someone's reputation? read more

**Dishonest price quote over the phone **Charged $35 versus quoted $25 ** Ignore all the 5 stars review because salon gives $2 off to customers who give 5star reviews I called on behalf of my teen family member this morning to check on the price for haircut before going. Due to COVID, she rather not get her hair wash so she washed her hair before getting there. Over the phone Judy quoted me $25 and then when I was about to pay her she said she quoted me "$25 and up" over the phone. I was a little disappointed on this fact that she could have told me when she saw us to change the price would be $35 instead of $25 as quoted on the phone. Teen is satisfied with hair cut but I felt a bit cheated on price. Since this salon is not made by appointment, we waited about 35minutes in the heat. We are definitely not going back. $35 for cut only seems a bit over charged for a straight hair. The price sign inside the store did say $35 for women/girls but I thought that price included wash. I saw many parents took their kids to get hair cut. Also there were many male customers for a quick hair cut by Kevin. The price is $15 for men. On another note, there was a sign which I didn't take but shown on some other reviewers that if you do a positive review on Google or Yelp, u get $2 off. I rather give an honest review than get $2 off. I felt that to improve her customer service, I suggest that she let the customer know the price of the hair cut before cutting the hair especially for someone who already called the business to check on price. Lastly, I didn't see the stylist wipe the chairs or disinfect the area before serving the next customers. They did use the one time use plastic for the cape. read more

I have been to Vivid Image nearly half a dozen times. I have difficult hair, am trying to grow it out and also want an unusual way of coloring. Judy, one of the owners, is a sweetheart who really tries to understand what I want. There is no overcharging, and when I seem to change my mind from one visit to the next or want to go back for just a little tweaking, the service is helpful and positive. For the value and no frills atmosphere (I do not want to pay for someone's pretty and expensive overhead when it comes to hair care), I believe this is a quick in and quick out real find. Highly recommend for those who are practical and also. I watch the variety of styles that Judy's husband does for men, and they are fit, while the gentlemen seem very pleased. read more

There is really no point in providing a review for this establishment. It is so busy and you will know why once you get a haircut. Kevin who cuts my hair... once you explain what type of haircut you want - say no more. After getting a haircut, I always feel looking good even though I really don't look good. With the haircut I get from Kevin... he makes me look good and provides me the confidence of looking young and trendy. I was supposed to take my son to an expensive hipster men's salon in Pleasanton but their hours are not always reliable or didn't fit my schedule. My son's usual barber left early so that foiled my plans. I yelped and found Vivid Hair - a place I've always seen when I used to go to the previous Trader Joe's location. I'm so glad I decided to come here! There was a long wait list for Kevin so I just wrote down my son's name at the bottom, not requesting anyone in particular. Within seconds, a lady called us over. I just told him to give him a fade and give his long hair a trim. A few minutes later... Voila! Awesome haircut for a fraction of the price!!! It was exactly what I wanted. I've been coming to this place for a while and it's pretty much always a solid experience! All the barbers know what they're doing and the shop has ample waiting area for customers between cuts. I call ahead to gauge the wait time (which tends to be accurate) so I know when to bring a book or not. Once inside, you sign in on a piece of paper (can't put your name down over the phone FYI) and grab a seat. There are pictures on the wall you can use to show what kind of haircut you're looking for too. Haircut happens in reasonable amount of time and you pay at the counter. They charge an extra $2 for card, so remember to bring cash if you can! Overall nice place for a quick cut. read more

Good for a quick boys haircut. Prices are very good for area. Styling is limited. It's a basic chop shop. They've never messed up but I've never been overly impressed by there style or service. Only three stylists working on a Sunday when I stopped by without an appointment. Added my name to the list, waited and eventually got my hair cut by Judy. 100% mail clientele but I'm sure they work with all genders. $15 for a normal cut and yes, they post a sign offering a $2 discount if you were to write a Yelp review BUT, Vivid staff worked quickly and efficiently during my time there. No need to deduct $2 from their or the salon's earnings as my review is an honest review with taking advantage of any financial incentives offered. You can add the name of your stylist on the signup sheet if you prefer a particular stylist. read more

No sequence... random folks come n get addressed just because they put in their name in the morning and walk out and come anytime of the day and cut the line. And to make it worst there are women and girls coming in randomly for haircuts and what not - causing ridiculous level of delay. I think I am done with these ass holes - will pay more and go to right place. read more

Used to like this place. Not any more after it raised price two times in two years. With price up 60%, you expect better service, right? No. Still cash only, no credit card, or with a fee. Still simple haircut, no style or details. The only improvement is speed. Specially the male barber, who always aim to finish your hair as fast as possible, for a better hourly rate. read more

This salon has been raising prices very fast. Just last year (2021) it was raised from $12 to $15 for Men's haircut. This year they raised it to $18. When I talked to them about why they were raising the price so fast, Kevin said that next year he would raise the price to $20. It appears to be sheer arrogance. I guess they will learn when customers start leaving them and going to other places. Because, this place is full of Asians and East Indians. They are always shopping for a bargain. So, it is a matter of time. read more

Arrived at 10 am on Sunday and had to wait 30 mins since hours changed but haven't been updated on yelp. Kevin arrived at 10:35 and finished the haircut in less than 10 mins while taking 2 calls in between and talking to other stylists. Very disappointed with the outcome but I guess you get what you pay for. Would have preferred to pay twice for a much better haircut. This place isn't for me. read more

Don't come here unless you want a haircut from a blind person. Gave my kid the ugliest haircut looking like Ace Ventura. For the price I would've-paid double for a decent haircut. It's a cheap high volume place so don't expect much for 14.00 Asked for a fade and gave me a step cut that looks like a graph chart for stocks. What's worse is that the fade is higher on one side than the other! This is the third time going here so for sure I won't returning. Was hoping they'll at least try to improve from the last time we asked. It took them 5 mins for each of us and didn't even look twice to clean the edges. Jeez.... read more

Product: $12 men's haircut cash, +$3 for using card. You are getting what you paid for, but they are somewhat decent and better than Great Clips. Service: Their English is not great, and they are quick and simple. Only come here if you want your hair done simply. For me, I just get my sides cut and my top trimmed. They do it all very straightforward and with not a ton of meticulousness. Would not recommend for more complex cuts! Am definitely coming back though because the price is worth it for me. I called and spoke with Rebecca from the Hayward location and asked if anyone can detangle hair in either of their location. She got back to me in less than 15 minutes and was able to find Madison for me from their Pleasanton location. I booked right away for a Thursday morning appointment and the rest was history. We showed up Thursday morning and Madison did her thing. One of my biggest appreciation for Madison is her compassion for my goddaughter. She saw the stress in her eyes and really wanted to help her preserve her hair. Madison communicated with both me and my goddaughter about the what-ifs and how she was gonna proceed in case she couldn't save her hair but she made sure that every step was explained. Madison was very patient and made sure she didn't stay in one area of her head because her head was going to be tender. Madison brushed out my goddaughters for as long as she could. Honestly, I think the whole process took anywhere from 10-13 hours give or take split between two days. Madison had to move her schedules around just to accommodate my goddaughter. Within days, multiple extensions began falling out and some extensions were already twisting. I immediately contacted the stylist, documented the issues with photos, and returned for a correction appointment. Despite the repair, additional extensions continued to fall out shortly afterward. Throughout the process, I made efforts to resolve the matter directly and professionally. Rather than acknowledging the possibility of an installation issue, responsibility was repeatedly shifted to potential hair-loss concerns. However, the extensions that fell out still had significant hair amounts of my natural hair attached, and a second stylist who evaluated the installation raised concerns about the amount and placement of hair within some of the extension sandwiches. What I found most disappointing was not just the installation itself, but the lack of accountability when the problem persisted after corrective work was performed. I spent additional time, money, and effort trying to have the issue addressed, yet I was repeatedly asked to return for further evaluations after already making a trip for corrective work. After extensive discussions and continued documentation of the problem, the stylist stated I was threatening her by saying I was going to leave a review of her work. She mentioned that she would offer me a partial refund of $100 to resolve this matter but I am not to leave a review of threaten her. Apparently telling her that her work was not adequate is considered threatening. After telling the stylist that $100 was unacceptable she eventually refunded $150, but does not change the fact that the extensions failed almost immediately after installation. My expectation when paying for a professional extension installation is that the extensions remain secure for more than a few days and that legitimate concerns are addressed without the customer having to repeatedly advocate for themselves.

I haven't had a proper haircut for over a year! My long brown dead ends tangled and made a birds nest every morning. Thanks to Kevin and their staff at Vivid Image Hair Salon, I am refreshed! I am so much happier with my new hairdo. He has the patience to make sure you like your haircut. Show him a picture or tell him what you like and he will do it. The place is clean and sanitized. They were tolerable because of their low price. Then they raised their price. I only take my mom here since they were cheap. Now they charge $55+ for women's haircut. If that's the case, might as well go to other places with the comparable prices now. They cut the hairs really quick, which is great but its not like a blow up haircut that should charge so much. This place is amazing. I come here all the time!! I really recommend going to Tom because he usually knows what to do! Just show him a picture of your haircut (if you feel like it's hard) and tom will get it right. I've been coming here for like 8 months and I've been satisfied every time we come. Per her surgeon's strict orders to prevent infection and protect her fractured nasal bones that were in a cast, she cannot wear a mask or glasses, and she must avoid getting her face wet. We visited the salon specifically for a "salon-style" wash to follow medical guidance. While Anna has always provided excellent service over the last 2.5 years, the behavior of another staff member (the owner Kathys other daughter-in-law) was absolutely appalling. When my daughter politely asked Anna to wear a mask for protection, since my daughter cannot wear one herself due to her surgical fractures, this other employee chose to interfere. She was incredibly rude and aggressive, telling my daughter, "Do you think you're a queen?" and then telling her "dont look at me, close your eyes and shut up." It was shocking to see a client treated with such blatant disrespect and disregard for medical necessity. While Anna apologized privately, the fact that the owner Kathy and other staff members stood by and said nothing is unacceptable. No matter how competitive your prices are, there is no excuse for bullying a client who is in a vulnerable, post-operative state. We have supported this family business for years, but we cannot recommend a place that treats medical safety and basic human decency as an inconvenience. Dublin is a growing, diverse community that deserves local businesses that make our city better, not worse. We need businesses that uphold standards of respect, inclusivity, and basic human decency. Allowing this kind of toxic behavior and blatant disregard for a client's medical needs does nothing but pull our community down.
