I have been with them for 10 years this month and I cannot in good conscience recommend them to anyone. Significant bait and switch tactics. The cameras have gone bad and the panel no longer works so I had to spend over 1K replacing everything (panel alone is $600). When I spoke with the sales rep they assured me that my indoor camera and DVR is compatible with the new panel. The only reason I stayed with Vivint was to keep the DVR option for continuous video viewing (going through clip after clip on your tiny phone screen is painful and there is no option to watch the clips on your desktop). If not for that I was going to switch to a cheaper option. Surprise surprise, bait and switch first when I spoke with another sales agent after the first said they had set up an appointment and waived the $100 technician fee (sucks because there is no option for self install). Then when the technician came he said the panel is not compatible with the DVR I have and a new one is probably $400. Now of course when I go online I find out the DVR may not be an option at all anymore. I would not have stayed with them had I known that the DVR was no longer an option. read more

I feel completely misled by the Vivint sales representative. I regret switching from my previous security company because I never experienced this many problems with them. The Vivint representative promised all kinds of features and benefits to convince me to switch. He even gave me his personal phone number, assuring me that I could contact him if I had any issues. Unfortunately, after multiple calls regarding the problems I was experiencing, he stopped responding altogether. I was also promised a gift card for switching to Vivint, which I never received. To make matters worse, during the installation, Vivint removed and cut the wiring from my previous security system and completely destroyed that company's equipment. Because of that, I no longer have the option of simply returning to my former provider. This has been one of the worst customer experiences I've had. It's worth the price...if you like paying for garbage. Vivint failed to send a technician. Twice. John from the System Moves team told me I still could claim a refund. I was later informed from Danielle in Customer Loyalty that this is not the case. I spent over an hour on the phone talking in circles, and not once was there a sincere admission that Vivint messed up when their install technician missed their appointment and their pull technician missed their appointment as well. I have at least two confirmations that my technician was supposed to pull the system between noon and 4 pm on 1 July. They didn't show up. I've since moved out of the property and I want my equipment that Manny, John, Danielle, and Nathaniel promised Vivint could still retrieve or replace on my behalf. I installed the system on 6 June and I haven't been able to use it since 26 June. Manny from Vivint's sales team promised me a better experience, and more competent service, than ADT, so I switched over because I needed to believe that at least one security company could honor its commitments. I'm extremely disappointed to say that Vivint is more of the same. I came to them with genuine concerns, and their team kept trying to reschedule me and make this my fault for their mistake. Stop apologizing. Stop reminding me I can't get my money back. Stop taking 10+ days to fix your own mistakes. Actually arrive for a scheduled appointment. They said they would lower it to $19 and give 3 months of free service. Next billing cycle its still $62! I call back to get a refund and cancel the policy. We added on to our home and purchased one new camera and was told that the doorbell needed to be updated so we purchased another doorbell. In doing so they used my signature and signed another contract that I was not aware of. When problems started again. We called to get a technician out, waited over two weeks for a technician to come when issues could not be resolved we tried to cancel that's when we were told that we had signed a new contract. They used my digital signature that was used for the purchase of the doorbell. They charged us $894 to get out of said contract. it took four times to call this company and waste an hour or more each call before they finally canceled it. I do not recommend this company. I made an appt to have my equipment reinstalled after our move. I made sure to take the day off to be home, got the equipment ready and they decided to not show up. Did they bother to call me and let me know? Nope. Their cameras are glitchy, lags big time and when you call to have it fixed, their solution is "buy our newest product", even though it's fairly new. On May 28th, a Vivint sales rep named Jaxon came to my home claiming that "all units in the area were having Vivint doorbells installed," which made it seem like a landlord-approved program. He stated it was a two-week free trial, and that he'd return to help me cancel if I chose not to continue. He also said a card had to be placed on file, and that if I didn't answer the door during installation, I'd be charged $500. The technician came that same night and stayed until midnight, which felt very off. Despite Jaxon's promises, he never returned. I contacted him within a 30-day period, and got no response. I then called Vivint directly to cancel -- and they refused. Since then, I've contacted Vivint multiple times and have been given the runaround. Representatives keep telling me that the credit card company is responsible for the equipment -- but when I contacted the credit card company, they made it clear that Vivint is responsible, not them. Despite the representative confirming the cancellation, they sent us an email stating that the process was "incomplete" on 05/02; this led to another change on May 01st. We replied this communication immediately voicing our frustration about this delay. Today is June 2nd, and another charge went through, despite the account being suspended and with documentation supporting this. I asked today's representative to retrieve the call from April. Wow - what a terrible experience. I called Vivint for a full package - home automation, cameras and security based on some reviews I read across the web. I called the sales line and I got a really nice salesperson. We spent about 40 minutes building out my system over the phone, going over each option with pros and cons. We then settled on a package and set up an appointment. This is where everything went downhill. The installers came totally unprepared. My package had 2 keypads; they only had one. I asked for 3 Nests - they had none. They were dismissive and rude, calling my neighborhood "a ghetto". There was no point getting what they had installed because there's only a 3-day money-back guarantee and it would take another 2 weeks to get all my equipment installed. The installers said Vivint would call me when all the equipment was ready and they would come back to install everything at the same time. No one called. I called the sales line and sat on hold for 30 mins. Finally, someone picked up, and they said someone would call me back. A week passes - nothing - I call again. I sit on hold for 40 minutes and just give up. 4 weeks pass and I realize that they just ghosted me. No reason really, I have CASH IN HAND ready to spend it. Now I think I dodged a bullet, reading the 1-Star Yelp reviews and F rating with the BBB. I went with Bay Alarm, got the same package for cheaper, but most importantly, they showed up. I will not pay for devices that do no work or that I constantly have to manage. In spite of multiple, time-consuming phone calls, they continue to bill us. According to VIVANT, after canceling our contract, we turned around and established a new contract with them.
