I've never understood the hype on this place. It is known for their pizza. Unfortunately I do not like pizza. Every side item, every entree I have tried is sub par. My "vegetable" side was corn. Tonight I had the chicken with mushroom salad entree. The mushrooms were great. The chicken needed to be doused in ranch to be edible. Each time we eat here is a nostalgic nod for my husband who has to have the pizza. Luckily for him he says the pizza is great. read more

There's a reason EVERY other table in the place had pizza... the dinners are bland, taste bad, or too uninspired to be edible. Salads are nothing more than iceberg with awful dressing. "Garlic bread and breadsticks" are hard, dried versions of their description. Leave them in the basket. Only redeeming thing was the dinner rolls, which were warm, fluffy, and delicious. The waitress could have cared less that we were there. The dead animals all over the walls and carpet that looks like wood flooring don't add to the charm either. I won't be going back. read more

We ordered food to go when vacationing on Burt Lake. Vivio's pizza was good. Not great, but it was definitely above Little Caesar's and the like. Their bread side was essentially dust-dry toast. It was very strange. The small Greek salad was shockingly small and we were provided no dressing. That salad went uneaten due to the fact that we did not travel with any dressing. I'd be willing to try them again but likely eating in the restaurant and not as take-out. read more

Awesome pizza!! And if you have a small group stop in the bar before or after as the bar staff is friendly and can't mix perfect drinks. This is truly a must stop if you are within 50 miles. If you get lucky enough to sit at bar ask the bartender Stew for his employee discount on at least one of your drinks. read more

Unfortunately, the service was not great. My water was never refilled, our food came out after people around us that had ordered after us (without a word from the waitress as to why it was taking so long) and the pizza was only warm. The pizza was good, as far as quality and taste...but I do not think we will be returning due to the poor service and slightly high price of food. read more

I grew up coming to this place after long days on the lake. I'll never forget playing sit down Pacman while waiting for a table on a busy summer night. I remember all of the food being great and the atmosphere was a lot of fun. I'm now 38 and have lived most of my adult life away from Michigan, including the last 10 years in California. I am taking my entire family back to Michigan this summer, including a trip "up north". We definitely plan on visiting Vivio's after a full day on Burt Lake and Indian River. read more

The food was way over priced for the quality. The garlic bread was burnt and stale. I had the Chicken Parmesan. It was dry. It was also only one breast that cost over $18.00. It came with pasta that was stuck together in clumps. Other places give more food than this and they all taste better. Even an Olive Garden, which to me is the fast food of Italian, would have been way better. I normally like to give restaurants a second chance when I have had a bad meal but I don't think I could stomach the food again. read more

I enjoyed the carbonara. They give you big portions. My wife had the spaghetti and homemade meatballs and she did not like how the meatballs tasted and my daughter had the deep fried perch and she lived it. Mmmm there is nothing like Vivio's pizza! Yes, the atmosphere is, well, different. But I have to visit Vivio's at least once a summer for their unique, absolutely delicious pizza. Visiting from California, we ate at Vivio's and OMG - the house special pizza is to die for. BEST pizza EVER!!!! Service is attentive and accommodating. No wonder they've been in business over 65 years. Be sure to try a brownie sundae (with peppermint stick ice cream) for dessert. read more

We went to dinner tonight and had the worse service ever. We got there at 7 and was seated right away. After about 15 minutes our waitress shows up to take our drink order. I ordered a 7up or sprite, she brought it to me and I told her it was no good. I thought it tasted like club soda. I asked for another and she said in a not so nice tone that the 7up was probably gone. So I said that's fine I will take a ice tea. After bringing our drinks we waited another 10 minutes for our order to be taken. She brought out salad with hard old bread. We then ordered I ordered lasagna and my husband had spaghetti. Out waitress brought out mine and the bowl was hot. I started eating it the outside was hot but as I ate it the inside was cold. I could not tell waitress because we never saw her. I finally asked another waitress for a roll and she brought out one...really. Whatever, worst dinner by far. This was not our first time there but have always gotten pizza. So pizza it is from now on! read more

Props for atmosphere, big + strong manhattans, and loads of toppings on the pizza. This place has a good vibe. Wouldn't have known about it if it weren't for the yelp reviews. Very friendly restaurant and easily one of my favorite pizzas when I'm up north. My go-to is the "Meat Amour" pizza. Love the big salads and bread stick baskets. Place can get very busy at times and you have to wait a while to be seated, but they have a nice covered waiting area outside. read more

This is time and time again my favorite restaurant in Indian River. The ambiance is awesome, a perfect place to end a long day of boating and to immerse yourself further into the spirit of the north. They also run a very tight ship....watching the speed with which they seat people and turn over tables on a Saturday night was very impressive....a lot of restaurants could take lessons from them. read more

Absolutely disgusting! Great waitress, horrible manager! Waited 40 minutes for food only to come out cold and not done. Attempted to get the manager to take the dinners off our bill and had to argue with him. He charged us $13 for the salads that come with the dinner, one of which was the size of a fist, when the dinner was $12.50 to begin with. Bad experience, bad food, bad management! read more

FOOD:. Pizza would be the only thing to order here. From looking at the other tables, that is what half the people order. Our Pizza arrived slightly undercooked. Not crispy at all. The toppings were fresh though. Artichoke hearts, Fresh tomatoes and Feta. The Greek Salad was room temperature iceberg lettuce with canned black olives. No Kalamata Olives in this Greek Salad. The Oil & Vinegar Dressing was very bland. It tasted like straight oil with out any vinegar. Their Bread service is an abomination. Bread sticks so hard, be careful you don't break your teeth. Next to those were their version of garlic bread which were stale, half slices of white bread toasted on one side sprinkled with garlic salt. It looked like it had been passed around from table to table all night. Saw a nicer roll on another table but we didn't received it. The Non- Pizza food on other tables looked below average. SERVICE: Our server was friendly and efficient. If the manager had just stopped by the table, I would have mentioned the bread service to them, but I never saw a manager checking on any table. ATMOSPHERE: Casual atmosphere. Quite nice with Red Patterned table cloths giving it an italian look. SUMMARY: Vivio's could be a nice place. It really does have a nice atmosphere, but no one is paying any attention to the food. It's odd that they don't have one item with eggplant on their menu in an Italian restaurant. Vivios is located in the resort town of Indian River . They are well known in the area for Pizza, pasta, and wonderful salads . They offer full bar service and open at 5 pm each day . Great pizza. Come here every summer. Service is always good. My only suggestion for the owners is to get some beers on tap, & if you won't do that at least get some of the local microbrews. You should at least have Petoskey Brewing Co & Cheboygan Brewery beers. read more

We loved the lodge atmosphere and the many stuffed animals. Pizza and pastas were all really good. The Whitefish Vivios style is outstanding and prepared in a healthy way. Service was friendly and prompt and out food came out quickly even though they were very busy. Highly recommend. read more
