Rhinoplasty/Chin Lipo Experience Pros: Cute side profile, affordable, attention to pain management Cons: uneven nostrils, long wait times, rushed appointments This is a detailed review about my pre-op and post-op experience with Dr. Grigoryants on January 10th, 2024. I saw him for rhinoplasty, septoplasty and chin liposuction. I am posting this at 6 months post op, will update at 12 months. Pre-Op: Our pre-op appt was very fast, about 10 minutes total and Dr. Grigoryants was 30 minutes late. Our consult was done by email so this was the first time meeting him in person. I was expecting it to be rushed because of previous reviewers but I didn't think it would be THAT rushed. He also had not even looked at my blood work until then and almost forgot to do my computer imaging. I guess someone else at the office reviewed it and told me it was normal three weeks prior. I checked in at the Surgery Center the next day at 7:00 AM and my surgery was scheduled for 8:30 AM, but Dr. Grigoryants didn't come to do my liposuction markings until 8:57 AM and he appeared rushed. He spent 2 minutes with me, took photos and did markings and said he'd "see me in there". Nurses told me he had a surgery before mine, and started the surgery at 7:15. She was wheeled out at 9:06 with a bandage on her face, so it seems like the surgery is pretty fast. What made me most uncomfortable was knowing he literally does these surgeries back to back and as close to each other as possible. I worried this could leave more room for error. But perhaps if you've been doing these surgeries for 20 years like Dr. G, you have developed your own routine to get it done faster without complications. Unfortunately I did have minor complications at first, and ended up developing uvula necrosis, which is when the breathing tube restricts blood flow to the uvula at the back of the throat causing some white patches and the tissue to die - this caused me a lot of pain in the days after. When I got out of surgery, which took only 2 hours for both the rhinoplasty and chin liposuction, I was in an incredible amount of pain. I had previously told the Doctor I am highly sensitive to pain. I remember hyperventilating and my body was spasming in the recovery room because the pain was so overwhelming. They gave me Fentanyl and small doses of Dilaudid and I kept having to say that Fentanyl doesn't do much for me (I had it years ago at an ER for stomach ulcers and it didn't work). So after moaning and crying for a bit the nurse squirted some lidocaine up into my nose and that made a huge difference. With that said, the post-op recovery experience was rushed as well and I was back in the car with my boyfriend just one hour after surgery was finished. I think the nurses wanted me out of there as fast as possible because I was making so much noise because of my pain. Dr. Grigoryants did make sure I had plenty of pain medicine for my recovery and I am very grateful for that. I think he is overall understanding and a lovely person, he just works fast and is very efficient. This efficiency is what likely gives him the reputation for rushing appointments. Another thing that bugged me is I was not sent home with a compression garment for my chin liposuction. I was just wrapped with gauze pads and an ace bandage, resulting in skin laxity issues months later. I did have a lot more bruising than I thought I would and both of my eyes were black and blue. My cast appt removal was scheduled for 2:00pm on Jan 16th and by the time I was brought back it was 2:45PM. He had a full waiting room. Dr. Grigoryants did not remove my cast, a medical assistant did. She tried pulling the splint out but it hurt too bad and I asked for Dr. Grigroryants to come do it. She gave me a sample breast implant to squeeze for the pain. Dr. Grigoryants finally came to see me at 3:10.! 6 months later... The thing bugging me the most right now is how uneven my nostrils are at 6 months.If I see very noticeable changes in the nostrils at 12 months, I will update this review to 4 stars. Had a rhinoplasty with Dr. Grigoryants last year and I'm so glad I did. I told him I wanted a natural looking more feminine nose and he gave me exactly what I asked for. He did 3 different photoshop versions and explained the process and what was possible with my nose structure. The recovery process/swelling was not bad either. I came to Dr Vladamire for a lip, flip surgery and had the best experience with the doctor his staff and my results. I was very insecure of my elongated gap between my nose and my upper lip, giving me no top lip. I waited 4 years to ensure that my nose was done healing. It's not easy to write a review about something so personal but I feel like if it helps other people make the right decision I need to. I went to Dr. Grigoriyant for rhinoplasty. Upon meeting he suggested I get a chin implant which I didn't go in for but ended up doing. That was the one and only thing I liked about his work, hence the one star. As for the rhinoplasty I don't like the nose job he performed on me. The bump I had was knocked (all the way down) to the point it swoops downward into the propped up over projected tip. It's not what we discussed pre-op and does not reflect the inspiration pictures I provided. IMO looks like an obvious nose job. The first time I went into his office he said my nose was still healing and it would improve. As time went on and his beloved work started shining through my tip got even more projected and I disliked it more. When I smile and it goes up further. Point blank I hate it. When I went into his office to discuss a correction he was dismissive and told me "women are supposed to have their nose turned up to look feminine". I wholeheartedly disagree with that statement and wish he would've said that before my operation and I would've known to run away. Noses should be customized to ones face, not a one nose fits all type of mentality. Overall he's going to give you the nose he wants or the only type of nose job he knows how to give. I wish I had done more research gone with someone who really could deliver a more natural refined look. Just wanted to share my experience because it looks like the majority of the pictures posted here are from his office and or not even fully healed. You don't get to see the true results until about 4 years later. Also if you still plan on going here's a tip. One of the things he will ask you is what you do for a living? Why you might ask? He takes that into account when quoting a price. His work is totally negotiable. At least try and get a deal so you can plan for a revision surgery if needed. I don't doubt he's done good nose jobs in his career but his practice is very busy and he's the only surgeon. At least 4 years ago that was the case. He rushes through a lot of patients and that's how a fair amount fall through the cracks. If he rushes the consult trust me eat the consult fee and run. He will most likely rush your surgery and you will end up like me. Best to go with someone who will listen. That's mostly the problem it seems here he doesn't always listen to his patients and he serves up plastic surgery like a short order cook. No refunds or adjustments. One last thing I've also done lip injections there and so glad they were temporary. I ended up leaving the office looking like a fish with lip injections. This has been my experience. **if you are a picky person come to Dr. Grigoryants for Rhinoplasty** This review is based on the outcome of my nose, there were some hiccups along the way, so keep reading. This is going to be a thorough review and I will update as the months go by. I am located in the Bay Area so I traveled to Glendale and stayed there for a week. Email consultation: I did my email consultation with Dr Grigoryants back in February 2022. I found out about him through reddit because I needed a top surgon for my nose as I am super picky. I ended up waiting it out and consulting with a couple of other surgons. None of them caught my attention and they were charging me an extreme amount with an outcome I did not want. Fast forward- End of March 2022 my coworker told me she went to Dr Grigoryants. I knew he was the one. I was spectacle about going to him due to some of the bad reviews but I did it anyways and took the chance. Scheduling an appointment: I wanted the surgery done ASAP but they had a wait time till November I believe. I decided to be on the "list" where if there is a cancellation they would call me. This is where I started getting frustrated. Everytime I called they had no clue that I was on the list. I was never on the list. One day, they called me saying there is availability for end of May. I decided to take it. Pre op: Dr Grigoryants took his time explaining what he was going to do. I had a picture of my desired outcome. He did some photo shop to my face but even stated on his website it is not gaurenteed that you will get that same nose. After I got my surgery I see where he is coming with that. He spent a good amount of time with me and I appreciated that. Day of surgery: I went to the surgery center and they took me in. I was not too pleased with surgery center. I changed into my gown. Anesthesiologist introduced himself to me. He was amazing. HANDS DOWN BEST ANESTHESIOLOGIST EVER. I fell asleep and woke up not groggy just a hedache. Fast forward to when I woke up- I started getting severe pain and bad burning sensation in my nose. I knew what had happened I was fully aware. I start trying to get nurses attention so they can give me pain killers. 10 min later they finally approached me. The nurses response was "of course you are going to be in pain you just got nose surgery. Don't you have pain killers at home that the doctor prescribed you" I was baffled by this response by the nurse. I just paid thousands of dollars, im in severe pain, your response to me was that instead of trying to help me? Anyways, she gave me some pain killers, but then her response was "i just wasted some pain killers". Second inccident that happened- I asked for gauze about 4 times before and after operation. The lady put me into my wheelchair and took me to elevator. Again, I asked her if she has my gauze. She said "wait here do not leave please. I will go grab it." She left me, fresh outta surgery in front of the elevator alone. Totally could of left and gotten her in trouble, but im not that stupid lol. She finally got my gauze. They took me to the car and I was on with my day. Day 5: cast removal. Spent about 10 min with Dr. Grigoryants. Removed my cast went over some stuff and I was on with my day. Saw my nose. Extremely good results. I don't think it could be better than this. One and done. Best nose job ever. Best nose out of all my friends nose jobs. Dr. Grigoryants is truly an ARTIST. Natalie's injection technique fell far below expectations, making her the least skilled injector I've encountered. And that is not an exaggeration. Not only was the application of the numbing cream haphazard, she also proceeded to inject areas where the cream was not applied! The procedure was extremely rushed, leaving me to believe that she was intentionally hastening the process to leave errors?? Despite expressing a desire for a pouty appearance (which I showed plenty of photos for reference), I received the complete opposite --she elongated my lips. If you do not know how to inject a certain shape, then don't agree to do it in the first place. I had a rhinoplasty with Doctor Grigoryant, and unfortunately, I was left with results that I'm extremely unhappy with. My nose now appears noticeably upturned--the nostrils are clearly visible from the front--and it seems he removed too much from my nose bridge. I am 5 and a half months post op with my rhino/septoplasty and I could not be happier. I did my research on many doctors and it kept leading me back to Dr Grigoryants. I felt confident in my choice in him. I have read reviews of people complaining about bedside manner or rushing through appointments, but that was not my experience at all. He was very nice and took the time in my consult and pre op appointments to answer all my questions. I never once felt rushed. I didn't bring in a picture of a particular nose I wanted I just wanted certain things about my nose corrected and refined and we were in agreement completely. I also needed work on my septum as it was blocked on one side and collapsed in another area. The day of surgery was very smooth. The pre and post op nurses were wonderful. They made me feel comfortable and safe. I couldn't have asked for better attendants. My recovery was pretty easy. They prepare you with all that you need to know and do for yourself to have the best recovery. I've waited 2.5 years to post this review because I kept thinking the "swelling" would go down as Dr Grigoryants said. It never did and I can still feel a bump. My main issue is when I smile. It basically looks the same as it did before surgery and not a SINGLE person noticed I had done anything. I expressed my dissatisfaction with the end result and through multiple contacts, he said it was just swelling. At about 1.5 years post-surgery, I sent him updated photos again and expressed my dissatisfaction. He told me at that point that my nose "looked good" and there was nothing more he could do, nor would he offer any amount of refund. I had been contemplating rhinoplasty for a number of years but was never able to find a doctor I could trust, until I had my consultation with Dr. Grigoryants. Easily the best decision I've ever made was choosing Dr. Grigoryants to perform my primary rhinoplasty! Him and his staff have been nothing short of helpful throughout this entire process. From my very first consultation, Dr. Grigoryants was extremely patient and attentive, making sure to answer all my questions and set realistic expectations on my results post-surgery. A green flag during my pre-surgery appointments was that he never asked to see any "inspo pictures" of what I wanted done, but told me what could be done with my existing nose. Having a nose that still fit my existing features was my number one priority. From the information provided prior to my surgery date, I felt prepared during each step of my recovery process. I got my rhinoplasty 5 months ago and although it's still swollen from the tip I already LOVE it and cannot imagine how much better it will look in the year mark. Dr. Grigoryan is super welcoming when doing the consultation, he listens to what you have to say and gives you a realistic expectation of what the nose will look like.
