I personally think this place is great! The pizza is really good. Even the simple pizza, The Big Stick, tastes more than just pepperoni pizza. The only reason I give this four stars is that the service was very slow. I'm hoping this is due to the fact that they have been open for 2 days. Also, the drinks are a bit pricey for what you get. If you love mushrooms on your pizza in a heavenly white sauce then the Truffle Shuffle is a MUST! The crust is spectacular too, not to thin or thick with just a bit of crunch. I can't go to Norman without getting one now. The salad was amazing as well. Everything was really fresh and the staff was kind to my 3 little ones. The rooftop was incredible to say the least. Always a great experience at Volare! Excellent food and drinks, fun trendy atmosphere and an incredible roof top bar! The only option for children is pizza and mine didn't love the "different" style. We like everything about this place. Nice atmosphere - the owner strolls around helping out and chatting with the customers. The pizza Italian style pizza, oven baked with some interesting toppings. Only one size - which actually makes it easy to order since you don't have to have that tired old small medium, large, extra large discussion. The beer selection is good, with a mix of tap and bottles. The bar tender was helpful an took back a bottled beer when it was too citrusy for our taste. The highlight is the pizza - which comes out of the oven and is put right in front of you - if you sit at the bar - which is our preference. The BEST pizza in Norman. The flavors are spot on. My husband and I ordered 3 different pizzas (We like to try a variety). We are picky pizza people and are always on the search for a great pie. I cant speak for my husband, but my search has ended. I will look no further than my own back yard. Kudos to Anthony and the entire staff. I would have given 5 stars as the food was great, the view of campus is beautiful, and our waitress Isabella was excellent and friendly, BUT we unfortunately had to put up with the building owner at the rooftop, forcing the bartender to change the NBA playoff game to music videos and then being super loud and annoying, flirting with young college girls. We will be back to try again but service on Sunday night was a hot mess. Our poor waitress disappeared for over 30 minutes while trying to figure out how to split the bill for a large group. We had to almost tackle other wait staff to get drinks refilled and check on status of our order while we watched parties who came in after us get their orders. Took almost 2 hours and there was no apology or even an attempt to explain why the wait was so long and service almost non-existent. We have high hopes given the investment made in the building but so far the execution needs some work. read more

Ate at Volare for lunch after hearing rave reviews from my friend. Started with the Popper appetizer, it's spinach-artichoke dip, shisito peppers, and bread. It was all good but we weren't really sure what we were supposed to do with the peppers, eat on their own or add to the dip? I also ordered an Aperol Spritz with a twist which I think would have tasted great, except the fact that the bartender didn't mix or stir the drink so the top tasted mostly like soda water and the bottom was just complete liquor like taking a shot. For lunch, we split a supreme pizza. I was really excited for a Neapolitan type pizza place in Norman but this just didn't deliver. The pizza was so soggy that we couldn't pick it up with our hands without it falling apart and all the toppings sliding off. There was also not much meat on it for being a supreme pizza. Service was great the entire time. Overall, I would give Volare another try since my friend insists this must have just been an off day. read more

This restaurant started great striving to make original pizzas and flashing the VPN (Vera Pizza Napoletana - Authentic Neapolitan Pizza) symbol on all their shirts. After less than one year, the quality of their key dish (pizza) has dropped significantly. 9 times out of ten, the edge is quite burned and they spare too much on the tomato sauce. This place is horrible. OK food, horrible service. I came down to visit a friend and we chose Volare as it seemed like a good place to go. Our server did a pretty good job of taking care of us considering how busy it was. However, the food did not come out in a timely manner. In addition, the bar service we had after dinner was horrible. The bar service manager (I think his name was Dan?), was rude, inconsiderate, and unprofessional. He was very arrogant and I could tell his staff did not like him very much. He seemed to have an attitude anytime someone would ask for a new drink or didn't like the way a drink was made. Fantastic atmosphere and even better pizza! You can taste the fresh ingredients. Also, watching the pies being made while sipping on a beverage is pretty cool, too. Happy hour is a real value with both drink and food specials. A real gem on Campus Corner and one I will revisit often. read more

Pretty cool place! The Long Islands are FANTASTIC- the Moscow Mules, not so much... We ordered 4 appetizers; the poppers, fried zucchini, chef boy RD, and bruschetta. the first two appetizers had massive portions and definitely a shareable plate, the second two had terribly small portions so that was a little odd to not have consistency with amounts given for an appetizer. The four pizzas that we ordered looked amazing and I ordered the Wilson which was delicious, the only thing that was sort of odd about the pizzas is that ingredients are placed on certain sides on the pizza- for instance; the Wilson has eggplant on one part of the pizza, the bell peppers on another part and then a handful of basil on another part. I don't know about you but I can't hand eating a huge bite of just basil. So I wasn't too keen on not being able to eat 1/3 of my pizza. Besides that, I think everything was well priced, the food was warm, served fresh, and our server was FANTASTIC! We stayed long after the bill was already paid and the server would still come and check to see if we needed anything and refilled our waters. Definitely would come here again! read more

They still have some kinks to work out. The roof-top wasn't open yet. Being on campus corner, they don't know if they want to be a bar with food, or a restaurant with a bar. Being "related" to "Benvenuti", though, I expected (hoped) it would be more restaurant, less bar. Our visit leaned more towards bar, with food. Four of us went for dinner ~7:00. They have no host/hostess to greet you, take your name or seat you. We looked around; no table. Someone noticed us looking around & "took our name" and we waited at the bar downstairs. We were told a table was opening up for us, but some people who were in the upstairs lounge nabbed it first. ?? Is no one paying attention? Is there or isn't there a wait-list? Anyway, we waited some more. Once we got a table, the service was very slow. Others around us noticed it, too. The music was very loud (bar-like) making conversation a little difficult. If these experiences are the standard, they will be catering to the college kids/young adults only and the rest will likely not be frequent patrons. (That makes me sound really old!) That's fine if that's the plan. If they want a more diverse clientele, I would suggest they cater to the restaurant crowd at least until 9:00, THEN turn up the music and cater to the late-night college crowd. No complaints about the food, though. Their prices are quite reasonable, too. I have hopes they will settle into their niche soon. read more
