We were in Winter Park for our anniversary and decided pasta sounded good, so we gave this place a try. It's a cute restaurant! Our waiter was very kind, however as everyone mentioned the service was slllllowww. It's not a huge place, so I'm not sure why it was nearly impossible to find our waiter when we needed him.. but it wasn't a big deal to us. Every waiter/waitress we encountered in Winter Park was super lax and slow paced, so I guess it's just the vibe of the city. If you get there later at night they will sell out of their Focaccia bread, so keep that in mind. We ordered the meatballs instead and they never brought them out. It wasn't until we told our waiter, after our dinner arrived, that they brought them. ‍ My husband got the Mushroom Pappardelle and it was sooooo good! I got the Bolognese so we could try two different things and it was mostly meat sauce with literally 10 longer sized noodles. We shared and got extra sauce for the Pappardelle, which made this dish perfect. I also got the Italian Fall cocktail and it was SO yummy! We really had a bad experience tonight at Volario's'. We had a reservation at 7:00. We came sat down and the first thing they said they were out of Focaccia bread which is a surprise as it is their main appetizers, with no other bread substitute. The service was poor. After waiting over an 1 and a half we asked to speak to the manager, Dave. He was not willing to listen or even apologize for the extreme delay, very rude behavior towards our family. At this point our kids were fading and we decided to leave. It's sad to know that they are owned by devils thumb ranch. read more

So I guess for a mountain town this is an ok place. However, speaking as an Italian it seems to want to be a super fancy restaurant really hard but the food is really lacking. Something as simple as rosemary focaccia was dry and yet oily all at the same time. The mushroom pappardelle sauce was too thick, pasta was either overdone on some noodles or under done on others, and the mushrooms were super thick. Service was average. Overall if you are looking for an upscale less organized Olive Garden this place is for you. read more

The atmosphere seemed nice and the place was crowded. We were greeted by the manager who was very friendly. We had a reservation so there was no problem with being seated. The problems began after we were seated. We ordered within 5 minutes of being seated. Our waitress and the rest of the wait staff seemed distracted by their friends being there...serving their food before us (even though they didn't come in until after), bringing them shots and eating food off their table. There was another table that turned over while we were there and the next set of guests received their food before us. When we asked about it, the waitress was defensive and said the pasta machine was broken...even though two tables next to us had just received pasta. When we confronted them we were talked to in a very defensive manner and there was no transparency in what was really going on. When we finally received our food it wasn't even that good. At that point our experience had been ruined and we all just wanted to leave. I wouldn't even give it two stars if it wasn't for the manager coming over to apologize and comping our entrees. My husband and I walked in on a busy Saturday evening without reservation and they were able to rearrange the tables and get us in within 15 mins. Our waitress was extremely attentive and the food was incredibly delicious. I'm extremely impressed with the pasta, pizza, and eggplant appetizer. Romantic yes! We sat in the bar area; the tables were not too close to each other, and had a romantic dinner with soft music, fireplace in the background and a nice cocktail each! I had the Diamond Manhattan which was not traditional and it was a clear drink versus the Amber manhattan typically served. I thought it was light tasting and delicious, but just the right alcohol buzz. My husband had a more traditional Manhattan (barrel aged and garnished with orange peel instead of a cherr liked his as well. We ordered all our food to share. We had the sausage bruschetta which was very hearty like a meal. We had the arugula salad that had figs, prosciutto and cheese. The salad was light and served without dressing; we enjoyed it very much. We had the lamb gnocchi (house made gnocchi) and that had a lovely sauce, a brown sauce maybe made with wine. We thought the dish was delicious. We ordered the polenta served with caramelized onions on top---yeah I ate all the onions off the top, but the polenta was kind of blah- that was the only miss for us. Our server, Cecil was very knowledgeable about the menu, and seemed to enjoy his job. The hoste ss was also very nice and accommodating. We would return to this restaurant. This review is from 2018. I forgot to post, but was back here for my anniversary and the experience was wonderful! We started with appetizers and apple pie martini (we wished we had saved it for dessert!) we had the house made focaccia, Brussels sprouts and crispy gnocchi. Volario's is a very lovely place. We went on a ski trip to Winter Park and this was our first meal there. Italian sounded great and then we were here. We got very lucky in that a table of 5 had just canceled, so we got seated right away without a reservation. The place itself is interesting in design with a fun bar area in the front and a formal restaurant in the back basically looking at the kitchen. Our waiter was 10/10 and even gave us a lot of advice about the Winter Park ski experience, as he is an instructor there. We ordered appetizers and the bread was AMAZING. I was full before dinner came out. Figures. I ordered a mushroom pasta and it was very good. Not really what I expected, but still good! My mom ordered a chicken pasta dish and it was almost more of a chicken tetrazzini. Also not exactly what she expected but good. Prices were pretty high up there, so this is a place for planned fancier night, but overall it was a great experience. read more

Outstanding service in a nice atmosphere. They think highly of their mediocre lobster bisque (very squishy lobster chunk) and $13 for a tiny bowl. Had a birthday dinner reservation for my boyfriend at 6pm... changed it to 8 after our flight delayed 16 hours. We're traveling with young kids and decided we would rather order to go and head straight to our condo. We were told they don't do To-go food unless we wanted pizza which is not what we wanted for a nice birthday dinner. Spoke to the manager who was rude and uncompromising giving no reasoning other that it just wasn't their policy. Interesting way to run a small mountain town restaurant, that's for sure. Volarios is serving brunch this summer. It's a great place to sit outside on the patio near the stream when it's nice outside I am huge fan of the prosciutto benedict. It has the best hollandaise sauce. I've been twice now in the month of June. I had to give 5 stars to the benedict! It's that delicious. The people are friendly that work here. I think brunch is a good idea! I do miss the music on the patio they offered last summer. There aren't many places in Winter Park to listen to live music and get a nice glass of wine. read more

We had 7:30 PM dinner reservations. We arrived on time and seated immediately. Our waitress came by and offered water and took our order for appetizers. We ordered focaccia and on her recommendation, the meatballs. They were both very good. She came by and took her order and my husband ordered the mushroom pizza with truffle oil and I ordered the eggplant appetizer for my meal. We waited 35 minutes for our food to arrive. I was offered Parmesan cheese for my eggplant and said yes. The waitress never did come by with the Parmesan cheese. I took two bites of the eggplant and it was so spicy that I was unable to eat it. I checked the menu and it never mentioned anything about the dish being spicy. When my husband was 3/4 of the way through his pizza, the waitress came by to check on us and I told her about the eggplant. I sent it back to the kitchen and she offered me something else. By that time, my husband was finished eating. We asked for our bill, which took 12 minutes to come to us. With tax and tip for bread, three meatballs and a pizza, it was $60. Came here for my bf's bday after a long day of snowboarding. We were seated right away without a reservation which was super nice of them. However the food was inedible. I read great reviews about the wagyu meatballs. These came out so salty that I couldn't take more than a bite. My tongue was writhing from the salt overload. I decided to give my main entree a chance. I ordered the papardelle with mushroom and my bf got the lasagna. We packed up everything in a to-go box but we should've left it there as a statement of disappointment and frustration. The papardelle was flavorless, just tasted like butter noodles. The worst part was the feeling of cracking my tooth from all the salt rocks in the pasta. It was...so unpleasant I actually got pissed. My bf took two bites of his wagyu lasagna and couldn't eat anymore. It was super heavy and the lasagna noodles at the bottom were really cakey and thick. I'm upset that his birthday dinner didn't go as planned. The bill came out to over a Benjamin and I wish I just went to Wendy's to be completely honest! read more

We've been here four times and always have a good experience. Twice our server has been David and he's awesome. Tonight we sat on the patio and it was nice. The lasagna was delicious as always. Kids were happy: pepperoni pizza for my son and she'll pasta with butter and pasta for my daughter. And my wife's gluten free gnocchi carbonara was delish. Great drinks, yummy cannoli. Sad to hear that it will be closing after Sunday for the rest of the summer. There's a housing crisis in Grand County, like so many other places, and there's not enough housing for service industry employees. We came here as guests of Judy (one of the employees here) and I was very pleasantly surprised by the quality of food considering Winter Park is a small town in the mountains. We decided to order family style between 4 adults in order to try as many menu items as possible. For starters we had the Bruschetta and the pork and veal meatballs. The bruschetta is topped with house made pork sausage and was delicious. Even better were the meatballs which came with arrabiata, basil, polenta, parmigianino. I have never had polenta with meatballs before and I can say that it is a delectable combination. We had 2 pizzas- the Vesuvio and Polpo alla griglia (octopus). The Vesuvio was my favorite of the two. It was made with the house-made sausage and had quite a kick to it. The octopus pizza was also very good - the octopus was grilled nicely and delicious. It was a bit dry and definitely had a kick to it too. The 2 pastas we had were the mushroom paperdelle and the lamb gnocchi. Surprisingly I liked the paperdelle much better as the pasta was cooked perfect al dente and the mushrooms added some earthy goodness to the dish. Being a fan of lamb and gnocchi i conceptualized this dish differently. I found it to be good but a tad bit acidic (perhaps the goat cheese) and soupy. I thought the lamb should have been a bit more savory as well. For desert we had probably the richest chocolate cake I have ever tried. I'm not a big sweets guy but everyone at the table died over it. The service here was exemplary. Our servers were extremely attentive and our glasses were always full. This is a GREAT place for a good meal in Winter Park and there are several items on the menu that are pretty affordable. read more

Volario's is a very nice addition to Winter Park's food offerings. We went for dinner to celebrate my daughter's birthday,and we were not disappointed. The service was perfect and the food very good. Nice selection of drinks and the menu has a variety of food wide enough that everybody should find something they like. Bread with balsamic vinegar and olive oil are offered with dinner, which is very nice and becoming unfortunately more and more of a rarity. Both the quatro fromaggio and the Vesuvio pizza were very good. They use ricotta a fair amount, which would explain the richness of the quatro fromaggio pizza and also of the crepes. For dessert my daughter picked a decadent salted caramel ice cream pie. I had made the reservation online, mentioning my daughter's birthday, and, to her delight, they did not forget to wish her a Happy Birthday, and to put a candle on her dessert. I was at first disappointed that I couldn't get in for dinner in the next two nights as they were totally booked. I left a message and Lisa the manager called me and was a delight. She was able to accommodate two of us for dinner and she was outstanding! Of course the wine the Italian margarita and the food was phenomenal. We had the baby artichoke as an appetizer and shared a Caesar salad which was delicious. I had the pasta carbonara and my friend had the Bolognese.
