If you're into bland food, this is your spot! The hibachi fried rice is about as plain as it gets unless you consider eggs jazzing it up (mind you, for $2.50 extra). My husband and I went 12/30/24 (Monday) which they advertise as half off sushi on Mondays excluding holidays (understandable) when I asked the waiter what sushi is half off on Mondays he replied "it's a holiday so the sushi isn't half off) I would honestly like to know what holiday it is 12/30/24... according to google it's national bacon day so maybe I missed the memo of that being the holiday. Stopped in here with my partner after driving by one day and was was pleasantly surprised. Let's get into it. Location and Parking They have multiple locations in Kennesaw, Woodstock, Acworth, and Duluth. I'm closest to the Duluth location so that's where we went this trip. They have a large open parking lot with plenty of space. Reservations, Venue, and Atmosphere We did not have a reservation the night that we went, it was a Tuesday so there wasn't much of a crowd, I could definitely see it getting packed on weekends so I would suggest calling whichever location is closest to you to see what their process is. Once you walk through the massive front doors to the right there is the private room for larger parties. The hostess asked us if we were for just sushi or hibachi and then took us to our seats. The hibachi set up is in the middle of the restaurant and the regular booths and tables are around. They have a full and long bar with TV's that were on various channels, and they also have one the most massive screens I have ever seen on the wall. The movie theater screens are shaking. Now on to the food and drinks. My partner wasn't drinking that night, and I can't remember the exact name of my drink, just that it was a type of bourbon punch. It was strong, and I had a slight buzz after the one I had so I aired on the side of caution (aka I have to work tomorrow) and didn't get another one. I absolutely would though on a weekend, it was delicious. The menu is massive, and they have so many options to choose from, starting with appetizers. We started with the Volcano steak dumplings. They came 6 to and order with soy sauce. This was me and my partner's first time having steak dumplings and we were both pleasantly surprised. They were hot, and even though they were fried the steak wasn't tough. Would definitely get these again. Now on to the stars of the show, the sushi rolls. My partner and I decided to get a bunch of rolls and share them. We got the filet mignon, the yami 2014, the jalapeño roll, and the aloha roll (the picture is in the same order). They were amazing, with the exception of the filet mignon roll. Not to say that it was bad because it was not, it just was not as good as the other three. My partner and I both agreed that the aloha roll was our favorite, and we couldn't make up our minds about the other two but they were also delicious. My partner was feeling ambitious this night, so she decided to order desert. We got the fried ice cream, which is cake layers rolled into a ball and fried with a huge scoop of ice cream in the middle served with chocolate sauce, whipped cream, and cherries. I'm not sure what other descriptors you need. Just get it and apologize to your waistline later. Service The service was great. Our server was very nice, and they also have the cool server robots that bring your food to the table. Think Rosie from the Jetsons minus the feather duster. Verdict All in all I had a really good experience here and am already planning to go back with friends. Next time we might try the hibachi but if you're looking for a good sushi place, definitely stop by if you happen to be in the area. Until next time! read more

I had a craving or sushi and my partner suggested this place... what a great idea! Location and Parking The restaurant is coated on pleasant hill road, near the I-85 exit. Parking is plentiful and free. Venue and Atmosphere In the parking lot, a colorful entrance greets you, complete with a video of sharks and whales swimming above the carport. Inside is equally ornate, with stone statues, party lighting, and a flat screen TV that is a rage as a movie theater screen (I'm not exaggerating). There are separate sections for hibachi dining and sushi, as well as a separate banquet room. Food and Beverages We shared four rolls, the names of which escape me. They were all delicious and fresh. My partner ordered a drink which was sweet and strong. We ended with the fried ice cream. I'd been wanting to try this dessert for awhile and it was worth the wait! The food is served by robotic food runners who happen to have good manners, one even said "excuse me" when she nearly bumped into a human waitress. Service Both our waitress and the robot food runners were polite and checked on us often. The robot will take some getting used to, but it's an excellent solution to staffing problems. Graduation dinner..... absolutely hands down delicious!. It was 6 in the party and they didn't miss a beat to cover everyone individually. The sake peach flavor (cold) was amazing..... The cook was hilarious and engaging to all at our table. Now the reason I gave 3 stars, the cook continued to cough while cooking the steak for people not in my party. He turned around and coughed without covering his mouth.....was over the cart with everything else. The ladies bathroom was nasty as heck, urine and fecal matter on the floor. The was a broken toilet seating was just sitting on top of the handle. Ohhhh yeah! Volcano definitely provided a great experience from the projected ocean scenes in the lobby to the robotic servers bringing out the non-hibachi dishes. As Gwinnett residents, we were looking for a great hibachi experience outside of Benihana's. Parking: Private parking lot with enough parking (as long as you come before the rush). We got seated at 5 pm on a Saturday, and shortly thereafter, a flood of people came in for both Hibachi and seated dinners. The Alcohol: Full bar and drink menu to choose from. The Henney Colada is definitely recommended. I heard the Tokyo Tea is also a great choice. Reservations: Highly recommended or take your chance to arrive during a non peak hour (more so if you're looking for Hibachi). The hibachi was great (chicken, lobster, and steak). I found the sashimi combo platter on a bed of sushi rice to be very good. Fish was fresh and delicious. Service was prompt. I was there on a Wednesday night around 815 so no crowds. What I will say is the cleaner smell that permeates the entire restaurant is off putting and I'm not sure I would come back due to that. Smells awful! Someone needs to address this problem. Impressive in both appearance, and quality. Came here after seeing the place when driving by. It's easy to be impressed just walking up to the huge sodden doors. The many projected video on floor and ceilings. The hibachi side looks nicer than any I've been in, (and I've been in quite a few). The food quality was good, and the show was typical. This is volcano, steak and sushi! It is a staple in Duluth, and actually quite big with a Great Bar plenty of hibachi tables, but I come for the sushi. I like somewhat larger restaurants with a little bit of noise that shows me people are enjoying what they're getting. The noise level is mediocre. It's not loud, but it's definitely crowded a lot. If I'm alone, I'll sit at the bar because I like to sit at the sushi bar and look at the sushi and pick out what I want. I'm so glad 2020 is over and you can do that again but a nice big bar great sushi chefs, great rolls, fresh fish what can I say. I'm a sushi fanatic and love trying out the new places. They even have one of those robots meeting you at the door... By the way, I looked those up and they are $15,000 apiece so be nice to them! They deliver drinks condiments, but they are programmed by the servers so don't skip tipping the server thinking a robot did the work. They're cool, but remember to tip your server 20% or more! We want these places to stay open and they need employees and also, be nice! If you have to wait a little while be patient and go for the experience and the environment because this is a great place went down in the mall area. Highly recommend! read more

The fried rice, eggs in the fried rice, steak, chicken. All was overcooked. They also managed to mess up the green onion soup. Not to mention they sat us with another party. So we were sitting with a birthday party that didn't seem to thrilled that we joined them. Finally their flag is twice the size as the American flag which is against the flag code. The atmosphere is very cool, food is good but they definitely cheap out. Fried rice has no vegetables in it. The little side salad they give you at hibachi is iceberg, lettuce, drenched, and some kind of dressing tasty but again no other vegetables in it. The soup is the same everything is prepared as cheaply as possible, including the vegetables on the hibachi You would have to look long and far to find a plump mushroom or a fat broccoli. My party of four was sat with another party of two. Two of our four ordered the chicken and strip steak combo and two of us ordered just chicken. The other party of two also ordered the chicken and strip steak combo. The menu lists just chicken as a 6 oz portion and the steak and chicken combo at 4 oz each respectively. The chef portioned the chicken in equal six parts. We did not complain to the chef as we (the just chicken) were the last to be served. I wouldn't expect him to take back the chicken off the other diners plates to serve me. When we asked for a manager she let us know that she spoke with the chef but that the portions for the entire table were correct and we were offered zero discount or extra chicken. The manager was an older woman and she was rude. Essentially we paid for everyone's extra chicken and was just told they told the chef not to do that next time. First time eating at Volcano yesterday (8.5.22). Decor is attractive and very pleasing to the eye.....projected images on the floor, nice bar and an overall nice large size restaurant. If your a sushi lover this is the restaurant for you. The service that we received was good and the flavor of the food was good. Why this restaurant fell flat for me? 5+ pages of sushi and unfortunately very limited options for someone who is not interested in eating sushi! My friend does not eat sushi because he is allergic to seafood but he was hoping that there would be enough steak or chicken options on the menu....unfortunately not. He ended up just ordering chicken fried rice, which was disappointing because the only thing that they put in the rice is eggs.....no onions, no bean sprouts. And high prices for entrees....$19.99 for a chicken bento box and all they gave me was one piece of shrimp tempura. If I am ever in the mood for sushi I will return to this restaurant.....otherwise not enough options on the menu worth a 2nd visit. read more

It's Labor Day and most places I go to on Monday are closed. I wasn't expecting a lot from this place after receiving a paper menu in the mail among all the newspaper inserts. It came across as another cheap and bad hibachi place that happens to make sushi. Turns out I was wrong! Upon arriving I thought the decor was going to be gimmicky like it was with the last place that was in the same spot. It's laid out very Spartan and has the industrial look of a lot of KBBQ places in the area. Big plus there for not spending too much on the looks. Sushi. Much better than other places around Gwinnett Place that are more drinking lounges that happen to have sushi. The to go cuts of nigiri are very large and reasonable for the money. The salmon was very light and neutral, a sign it's fresh. Yellow tail was also a flavorful winner. Mackerel is where I see the value in the restaurant. Ever had grocery store grade mackerel that's dried out? Not here. The vinegar marinade is very pronounced, there isn't much of a fishy smell, and it's almost as tender as tuna. Ikura was very tasty and the seaweed paper had not become soggy by the time I made it home. This is probably the best around Gwinnett Place when it comes to nigiri for the price. I might rate Don Sushi a little higher for a business sit down meal, but they're also pricier and have that atmosphere you're paying extra for. Online ordering through their website was easy and fast. Pictures of the items really made it pop and helped speed checkout. This place is going on my regular bi-weekly ordering rotation. First time eating Hibachi at a place where they cook in front of you. First thing I noticed as I walked through the door is the beautiful decor and atmosphere. The staff is very friendly and welcoming, everyone seemed to enjoy being there. I ordered Steak Hibachi Dinner, which was a little pricey, but delicious and very generous in portion. The chef cooking in front of you makes for a great show before your dinner! He was doing tricks, making fires on the grill, definitely a fun experience! The appetizers and drinks were on point but we struggled with determining how we felt about the sushi and the spaghetti noodles served with the hibachi. Partially good and partially meh. I think they poured more energy into the ambiance, than they did everything edible. If only we can eat ambiance, but it wasn't on the "it's giving Cheesecake Factory" size menu.
