VOLCANO STEAK AND SUSHI was the fabulous host restaurant for our recent YELPY AWARDS. I am a firm believer that when you attend a Yelp Elite Event you should make every effort possible to return to that business within a reasonable time frame. I think it is important to show these businesses who devote their time and resources to entertaining us for one night some real yelp luv in return. So my wife and I made a lunch date out of a rare weekday off together. [ THE SCENE ] Volcano Steak & Sushi is a beautiful restaurant. Outside below the porte-cochère is a digital screen with constantly changing videos of constellations. The entrance features gorgeous wooded doors with iron that could have easily been remnants of an ancient Asian castle. There is a robot to greet you on the outside as well as another to thank you for coming on the inside. The lobby kinda feels like a dungeon/museum, but beyond it is a beautiful bar, dining area and hibachi grilling stations. The entire restaurant is loaded with all kinds of special effects to dazzle the eyes. The bar is made of wood and backlit onyx and features a 7 foot circular screen on the corner displaying fire or ice. The floors throughout have video imaging as well that feature either an underwater scene or the lapping tide of a beach. The back wall has a HUGE TV screen that (depending what's on) really brightens the entire space. We were very tempted to eat at one of the many hibachi tables, but decided to sit near the huge screen instead. Here is our food experience as we made use of our $10 gift card received at the awards ceremony: [ THE FOOD ] *** IKA GESO KARAAGE (3 stars) | $11.99 MENU DESCRIPTION: fried squid legs cluster VERDICT - I am an enormous lover of calamari. Generally I'm not too particular on rings or tentacles (although I prefer rings) as long as they are well seasoned and fried to golden perfection. Not too lightly and not too hard where they become chewy. These were on the hard side and bland in flavor. Mayonnaise was offered for dipping, which was an odd choice. *** AAC ROLL (4.5 stars) | $6.99 MENU DESCRIPTION: Avocado, asparagus & cucumber roll. VERDICT - Wifey loved it! Said it was of good quality and wrapped nicely. *** SHRIMP HIBACHI LUNCH (4 stars) | $12.99 MENU DESCRIPTION: 8pcs served with soup, salad, vegetables and steamed rice. VERDICT - Typical hibachi, but they charge $2.50 extra for fried rice :-( *** VEGETABLE HIBACHI LUNCH (4 stars) | $8.99 MENU DESCRIPTION: Grilled veggies served with soup, salad, vegetables and steamed rice. VERDICT - Typical hibachi + yum yum sauce. *** SWEET TEA (3.5 stars) | $3.50 What is the world coming to when sweet tea cost this much!!! [ AMBIENCE / SERVICE ] The vibe here is awesome. We were seated promptly for lunch and our server Sarah was great! She said she's only been in the USA for 6 months from China. I came into this restaurant on a Saturday afternoon at around 230 and the parking lot was not packed. There was not a lot of people in the restaurant either but the ambience was so nice. They have hibachi stations and then they have places where you can sit to eat if you were not doing hibachi. The waiting area is really cute too and then they have these super cute waiters that are Robots! I got the Manhattan roll which is a delicious I'm definitely going to go back and maybe this time I will sit and stay. read more

What a beautiful atmosphere! This restaurant is absolutely beautiful. I came here, because I have been waiting for weeks, for this place to open. I happened to be on a social media site, and it said that their grand opening, was today! So, here we are. When you enter, immediately you notice how open and wide the restaurant is. Bright, yet dim (if that makes since.) There are TVs every where for our entertainment. I ordered the ribeye hibachi with fried rice, my daughter ordered the chicken hibachi with fried rice, we ordered the shrimp hibachi with white rice for our 3 year old, and my husband ordered the shrimp hibachi with fried rice. My husband wanted noodles with his hibachi meal, but they did not have it. We also got the Yami 2014 roll. All hibachi meals, come with an appetizer of shrimp, soup and salad. The soup, drinks, and salad came out, within 10 minutes. The salad was soooooo good y'all. Sweet, ginger flavor. I felt the soup needed salt and pepper, and I added it. After that, it was on and Poppin (as the young kids say.) When we got seated, there were only two families, sitting at one hibachi station. So they were not busy whatsoever. We were seated for 20 minutes (at a different hibachi table,) when another family was seated with us. We waited a whole hour (hence the 4 star rating,) for the chef to come out to cook, and even longer for our sushi. The sushi was amazing. All of the freshness that you would want in sushi. All of the ingredients came together perfectly. The amount of fried rice that we got, was very small. It was absolutely less than a cup of rice. For dinner, that is really unusual. The rice was good though. I was shocked at how much rib eye steak I got!!! A huge amount. The only downfall, was that it was tough. I asked the chef, if it was ribeye, and he said yes. He said the sirloins are smaller, so that's how he knows. It was flavorful...tough, but flavorful. The vegetables was cooked perfectly. The right amount of crunch and seasoning. The shrimp was plump and delicious as well. I must say, my husband was disappointed, because he didn't get enough food. He had a little serving of rice, 10 shrimp, and a little side of vegetables. Normally, my husband doesn't finish his hibachi meals, but he did this time. It was just not enough for him. My 3 year old got more white rice, than what my husband did. My daughter's chicken was cooked just right! It was sweet and savory. Plus, she got a good amount of chicken. Overall, this place would be the bomb, if they have out bigger rice portions, a little more vegetables, and was more apt at serving in a timely manner. I would have given 5 stars, but it was opening night, and I guess they were trying to figure things out. Also, there were only two hibachi chefs. Newly renovated and very nicely done! We were greeted nicely by a female hostess. Our server was nice and fast. We spoke with the nice manager David and got to know him a little bit. We came in for lunch. I ordered the sushi combo deluxe that included 4 California roll, 6 tuna roll, 7 nigiri chefs choice and salad with soup. My favorite is the tuna nigiri which was so delicious! Underrated DimSum, has enough options to justify the price, left feeling super full and satisfied. Went in and I was the only person there which was surprising. First time here last night for dinner with some friends. We ordered about 10 rolls and some appetizers. For 6 people that is plenty of food. The miso soup was great as well. The presentation of the food got me like wow. The robot that brought out the food to us made it so interesting. We enjoyed getting our food from the robot. That was an entertainment. The food here was amazing! This may be my new favorite sushi spot... On Mondays they have half-price rolls which is super cool! The cocktails here are also really good not too strong and not too weak! I went here with my wife and best friend and I'm so glad that we gave this place a try! If you're in the mood for some great sushi at a reasonable price I recommend trying this place out. This place was on the way to a comedy show for us one night so we decided to try it out. We only ate sushi but the area for sushi is super cute and there are plenty of places to sit. We were politely taken to out table and our waitress got to us right away. She was helpful and kind. Our food came out promptly and our waitress checked on us during our meal to make sure everything was okay. The ambiance is inventive/fun looking and our service was great that night. But the food was decent. It isn't as good as our regular spot in Suwanee. But it was a good meal nonetheless. But not a place I think we will go back to. Picture perfect restaurant front. Seated immediately by the Bellabot. Food was delicious, sushi was fresh, and drinks (Sapporo saki bomb) was good. The ambiance is nice lots of lights, table spacing is good, restaurant layout is perfect, and big screen projection is a nice touch for sports fans. I also liked the fish and ocean projection on the floors. This place is definitely worth the price and is a good place for parties (which there were about 4 parties with bday) during our visit. The host told us we'd be seated in 5 min but forgot about us and we ended up waiting 25 min to be seated. The server saw us one time to give us water. The food was good. After we paid the service ( white blonde guy) then asked us for more tip rolled his eyes at us and gave us such an attitude about the amount of tip we gave him. He saw us one time for water.... Extremely disrespectful the manger did nothing nor did he apologize when we told him that he intruded my conversation with our party to ask me why his tip wasn't higher. We came to try out the 50 percent off sushi on Mondays and it will flat of expectations. Our server was nice and the robot food delivery was cute. Rolls looked presentable but a lot of them fell short of expectation. My sister got a mango roll and we couldn't find mango in them because it was such a tiny sliver inside. We got a dragon roll with shrimp on top but the last 3 pieces appeared completely raw. The server said this was normal but it didn't put our mind at ease so we didn't eat it. We later looked up pictures and re read the menu to find that there were two different shrimp on top. If our server had said that, it would have helped the situation but instead, she didn't check in on us once and we had to flag her down to ask about the roll confusion. The sauces and sushi overall were okay but nothing special. Some of my rolls had mushy rice. There is a large TV on the wall and sitting right under it was also very straining on our eyes. As the lights and colors changed, so did the table and our friends often couldn't look at each other during the meal. 3.5 stars. read more

My husband & I visited Volcano on July 28, 2024. We had visited this restaurant several times before and had been very pleased. This was not the case on July 28th. Our issue was the "seating policy". We were shown 2 seats by the server. The seats were located at the end of a table. My husband did not want to sit with his back to the open restaurant or door, so he asked the server if we could sit in the middle seating. We were told NO, because the seating started where they were trying to seat us, and the other seats would be filled as customers come in. My husband asked if the seats were reserved, again we were told NO. At this point we were trying to figure out what the issue is with us sitting where we would be most comfortable. By this time, my husband's whole mood had changed and he was no longer feeling the hibachi experience. Keep in mind, we were looking forward to visiting Volcano a few days prior. We proceeded to leave, but on our way out, my husband decided to ask to speak to the manager. The manager came over and we explained what was going on. He too stated what the server/hostess said, "this is where the seating begins". We told him, as well, we would be more comfortable sitting in the middle section. He said, we could sit there, but if another party comes in we would have to move. We were livid. The bottom line is, we were physically present and ready to drop $150-$200 for dinner, but yet the manager was banking on "what if's". Who's to say when or if that next party would come in? He allowed us to leave so easily. By the way, the restaurant was practically empty and they were so concerned with holding to their seating policy. We left and spent our hard earned money elsewhere. The portion is large also got a hibachi combo for filet mignon and shrimp and it was made to perfection. Steak was soft and buttery taste in each bite. We got another hibachi combo for chicken, steak and shrimp. They all come with veggies and a choice of plain white rice or fried rice but i do recommend fried rice. We got spicy crab rolls as well. This was the first time my wife and I went to Volcano Steak & Sushi. We were at the Duluth, GA location. We were extremely impressed with the design and layout of this restaurant. So colorful and bright. The food was excellent! For appetizers, I had the fried gyoza, and my wife had miso soup. For our main course, we had the fried rice Volcano combo, chicken, shrimp, and steak, with added vegetables. We ordered a picture of passion fruit tea that was delicious! Bella was our server, and her service was fantastic! We will definitely be going back, and if Bella is working, we will ask to be put into her section. Fun, half price sushi on Mondays, and a HUGE tv screen (like wall size) for those wanting to catch up on sports. Sushi is not fresh. Ordered delivery 3 times, live 20min away, and can now confirm it's just never fresh. Catapillar roll arrived with avocado brown. It looked like they left it out after it was ready without notifying ubereats bc my order got extended 30min after being stuck in wrapping up for 20min. What a fun place! Traveling for work and decided to branch out for some sushi. We visited volcano on a Sunday night and the place was busy. Magically, we were sat right away. There was loud trendy music, giant tv screens, fish animations on the floor and fun little robots that deliver the food. Definitely more of an "dining experience". The food was very fresh, and came quickly. We ordered steamed dumplings, chicken hibachi and 2 sushi rolls and a beer. Our bill was surprisingly low considering how much food we got. $55 for everything. If you're visiting, this is definitely a fun place. There were tons of hibachi tables and people laughing. Sounded like everyone was having a fantastic time. Highly recommend the sushi! Can't wait to visit again next time I am in town. (I wish it would let me post a video of the robots, but it won't.
