Brought my car in later in the day around 4pm as the check engine light came on. I was told sign here we won't be able to look at it today. Cool I come back the following morning for them to tell me it's the purge valve and it's going to be $900. I decided to not have the work done there yet I would still be charged $180? I was not made aware of this at the start and would not have left my car there for that amount. Took my car to Bertone Motorsport in Alhambra for them to tell me they ran multiple tests and the purge valve is working just fine. Shame on you VW Pasadena. We all know that buying a car can be a daunting task. Went there 3 weeks ago to check on a used Tiguan SE. They told us that they couldn't show us the car because they send it somewhere else to get it verified or something. I had my 10K Service and requested my car get checked out for weird pinging noises. I scheduled an appointment. It took two hours and that's fine. It's not my gripe. The service part was fine. However, the weird pinging noises and I think a related turbo boost issue wasn't addressed more than checking the codes. If they drove it around and gave it a little gas they would hear and notice it. I don't know if I have a reliable car at this point. So I will call back and see what can be done. read more

This is my second purchase from Volkswagen of Pasadena. This recent purchase was handled by the online sales rep Dominic.   When I arrived I was greeted warmly and my temp was taken(covid protocol). I was introduced to Ramiro who showed me around the lot, took me on a test drive, and answered all of my questions. When I decided on the car I wanted, we went inside and the area was sprayed and wiped down (covid protocol). Everything was explained in detail.  I then spoke with Eric the Finance manager who took all of my information and prepared all of my documents.  While I was waiting, the staff was very kind and gracious. Worst place ever! This review is long over due. Had to give Glendale their hard earned 5 star review before complaining about Pasadena. All I have to say is SCAM artists! When I complained to the sales person he said I was threatening him when all I was doing is complaining about an added service that he tacked on without my knowledge. I'll admit I signed off on that and I should've read into it more, but he sold it to me so differently. I was told the manager would get in touch with me..... he called, left no message. Mario in the service department did a great job of correcting a mistake. One of the service guys left the radiator cap off and made my car a little worse. I ended up junking the car but Mario at least refunded my money. They were eager to correct it and I appreciated it. He was helpful and knowledgeable and left us with a very good impression. After stopping at other dealers we decided we wanted a VW and we wanted to work with Alex. At no point did we feel pressure, came back in to test drive again about 3 weeks later after Alex found the car we wanted and found a similar experience. After negotiating with Alex we then spoke to Jamal Nada to finalize the purchase. Of course there was some back and forth but Jamal was very direct, which I appreciated, and we were able to agree a deal. This dealership is not marking up prices over and above MSRP - you may pay $5-7k above MSRP at other dealers. I loved VW of Alhambra, but they closed and the staff was transferred to the Pasadena VW. The mirror on my passenger side needed to be replaced. I spoke with the parts department. They took all of my info and told me that part would be in by the following Tuesday and they would call me. No call. Wednesday, no call. Finally I called them and I had to give them all of my info again! When I finally got there I told the rep from the dept what happened. He said the guy who makes the calls is behind. Um what?!?! I miss the Alhambra dealership. The only bright spot at VW Pas was and is Clare. My fave is Paolo!!! If I could give zero stars I would. My family leased a brand new 2020 Tiguan on March 29th. Nine weeks later the computer/radio shut off. It wouldn't come on at all. I called the service department and they told me to hold down the power button for 30 seconds to reset it. After holding down the button for 90 seconds, it finally came on. A week later, it shut down again. Another call to the service department and I was told they couldn't take the car until Tuesday (this was a Friday). Tuesday morning we took the car in and were told there was nothing they could do because the computer was working. Reluctantly, they said they would keep the car overnight to see if it happened again. Wednesday morning, it had still not shut off. We picked up the car and the service advisor told us, "sorry, the car is fine. Next time it happens, video record it, so we can see what happens." The next day, it shut down again, so we recorded it and then drove straight to the dealer. By the time we got there, it was working again. The service department manager came out and said that there was nothing they could do because it was working. When we tried to show him the video, he wouldn't look at it and said that it wasn't going to show him anything. We told him that his people told us to record it. He asked us to explain the problem and then he proceeded to blame it on the non-factory Apple cord we were using to connect the iPhone to the Apple Car Play. Then he said that the iPhone 6 we were using was probably not compatible to the car and causing the issue. So if an iPhone and cord can cause the entire system to shut down, I'd say Volkswagen has bigger issues. Every interaction with this service department manager has been unpleasant. He is rude, dismissive, and condescending. After having the car for another 5 days, with no call from a service advisor or manager, we got a text message saying, "we've order parts they'll be in next week." How about a phone call to explain the issues with car? Calls to the dealership manager have gone unreturned. Again, dealing with the service department manager has been ridiculously difficult. His response is often, "Well, what do you want me to do?" How about you figure out what's wrinthis brand new car I've had to seek help from the Volkswagen of America Customer Care Center. They've started an investigation into the car and have been extremely helpful. Save your money and time. Ken, I'm not sure where you are trying to contact us, but the last contact we had with your dealership was on 6/23 via text message. Both Yolanda and her husband responded with a follow up call that day. Despite your mention of documentation of trying to contact her, Yolanda is still waiting for an update from Angel or Steve. Matthew from Volkswagen Customer Care has been able to reach Yolanda just fine on the phone. As far as "goodwill gestures" go, I'm not sure what you are referring to. Your service department has had the car a total of 11 days and we are still waiting for this loner car that was promised. Again, there has been no contact. We are waiting for your call. read more

I had been looking for a GTI SE in manual transmission for a while, and this dealer was the only one in SoCal that had it. I decided to give them a call to confirm, and they ensured me that they did. Went by later that day to check it out and give it a test drive. I got there and Arsalan was the salesmen who ended up helping me out. He was very knowledgeable about the car as well, even showed me some cool features that I wasn't even aware of. Seeing as I already knew what car I wanted, it was more of just getting everything setup for the purchase. This was my first time ever purchasing a new car so it was nice to have someone like Arsalan to explain the entire process for me. Him and the manager Mike were really helpful in getting me the financing so I can get the car that day. After all was said and done I drove off with a brand new GTI. I would think twice about buying a car here and allowing them to service it. Let me explain. I bought a brand new 2010 Candy White VW Beetle here. During the 8 years I owned the car they worked on it, had it up on their hydraulic lifts. Never once did they ever tell me I had frame damage. I went to sell the car recently and no one wanted it. Carmax AND the dealerships came back with "your car has a damaged frame and rocker panels". The VW dealership not two weeks ago (Service Advisor Tom) examined the car and not once did they mention these two very important conditions. A bit of problem don't you think? read more

Dishonest. Pasadena Volkswagen grossly misrepresented the residual value on four leases I tried to negotiate with them. When I pointed out these deceptions the salesperson flatly admitted the falsehoods but still did nothing to negotiate a fair payment in good faith based on honest facts. For those who may not understand the importance of residual value, if a dealer undervalues a car at the end of your lease, then you pay much more for that car - much more than you should pay for that lease because when you lease a car you should really only pay for the depreciation of that vehicle plus a reasonable fee for the convenience. In this instance Pasadena Volkswagen repeatedly doubled the actual depreciation of the vehicle on four different term sheets. Here is basically how an honest lease works. For example: if you have a 40k purchase price and the residual value of the car at the end of the lease is 30k then you divide 10k by the lease term, say 36 months, to get your base monthly lease payment. Then you add on the "money factor" plus your sales tax. The total is your monthly payment. However, if the dealer lies about the residual value the total payment will be much higher. Pasadena Volkswagen lied to me in writing 4 times. In one case, they wrongly stated a 27% depreciation as 54% and then changed it to 65%. The sixty-five percent was quoted when I asked for a 24 month lease instead of 36 month lease. The objective was to bring the payment down. They drove it up. Please understand how wrong this is! Pasadena Volkswagen claimed a two year lease would cause the car to depreciate by 65% ! Basically, their position was that if I turned my car in one year earlier than a 36 month lease, with conceivably less miles on the vehicle, then that car would be worth less to them than if I had driven it one year longer. This is a bold and obvious lie. Let's use the same 40k example as above to learn why falsely increasing the depreciation value drives the payment up. On a 36 month lease Pasadena Volkswagen claimed their 40k car would depreciate by 54%. This means they claimed at lease end their 40k car would only be worth only18k. So, to determine the base monthly lease fee, instead of dividing 36 into 10k as I did in my previous example, to find my base monthly payment, I now must divide 22k by 36 since 40k - 22 = 18. You then have to pile on the "money factor" and sales tax. The result is a much higher monthly payment. The fact of the matter is the actual depreciation rate was only 27%.. This means on a 40k car, the value after a 3 year lease is actually 29k not 18k as they claim. You can now also see that when dividing 36 months into 11k (40 minus 29) equals less than (40 minus 18). Now let's tall about the money factor. Volkswagen wagon was advertising 0% interest rate at the time of my attempted negotiation with Pasadena Volkswagen. I have excellent credit with no blemishes. Yet, even though I was told they assumed I had an excellent credit score I was still being charged 1.6% interest. When you are leasing a car the advantage is being in a good car at a fair price. To get a fair deal, you must work with an HONEST dealer. Sadly, my experience is Pasadena Volkswagen is not honest. An honest dealer will want to create a relationship with you. They are someone you can go back to repeatedly every few years. This is good for the dealer and good for the buyer. Such a relationship requires trust however. Pasadena Volkswagen sadly cannot be trusted based on my experience. Think about this, even when I pointed out their dishonesty in hopes of initiating honest negotiation they basically shrugged their shoulders and did NOTHING to build a relationship - let alone trust. Take it or leave it was their attitude. I left them. Very disappointing. I was ready to drive off with a new Volkswagen but all I got was this very bad experience. In response to dealer's assertion below that the numbers were accurate: If we just talk numbers, fact is Pasadena Volkswagen presented lease terms roughly $216 (plus interest) higher than the regionally priced lease deal that was part of a month's long nationwide $0 down 0% interest drive off campaign. I called Volkswagen Financial for clarity after reading the reply. Volkswagen Financial Services confirmed that the residual value, Iike other deal points is arbitrary & "set by the dealer". Therefore, of course the internal review of the the lease terms showed no financial error. Volkswagen Financial services also advised that they are only an "indirect lender" in that they just collect the contracts dealers set. Customer support further acknowledged that shifting responsibilities for lease terms onto them is a way dealers avoid negotiating. I was advised I can request the dealer call Volkswagen Financial with me present in the future. Rather than having the salesperson leave the room to privately concoct a lopsided lease offering. read more

Passing thru today on a business trip I and needed a quick repair to the drivers door on my Tiguan and they were not only accommodating to get in fast and to get me back on the road again - they even provided me a courtesy car wash! Since I bought my 2016 GTI from the Alhambra location I have always felt like they try their best to save me as much money as they can, relative to other dealers that are notorious for price gouging. Even on my last visit, Wendy Duong tried her best to cover my loud squeaky brakes under my extended warranty, but when she couldn't and I decided to wait to check prices elsewhere she was able to significantly lower the dealer's standard inspection fee. On top of all of this, I still get a free car wash every time I visit! Perhaps VW is still trying to earn customers trust post-dieselgate, but either way IT'S WORKING and I'm very impressed! read more

Purchased 2023 ID.4 at MSRP. Ray and Jorge were the sales people and easy to work with and kept me updated when new vehicles came in. Jamal, finance director was amazing and straight forward without upselling useless junk. I made him offer to pay $100 over cost for 96 months/100k extended warranty for $2560 and he accepted. Definitely worth the cost to double the warranty as lots of things can go wrong with EV car and independent dealers cannot really service the vehicle. I got great service from Paul M. and Clair S. Paul was able to get a spare key for my car that was part of the original purchase and when I brought the car in all the way back in 2014. When I brought the car in this Saturday, Clair helped make sure I got all the covered service under my certified pre-owed warranty (a great program they have.) Uber to and from my house. What else could I ask! I have bought two cars from VW Pasadena and I have to say that in the last year or so, they have upped the level of service to a new level. Long Overdue review I owed a Ford Focus and had 3 negative service experience at a Ford Service Center. Long story short i tried to get new break pads and after 3 visits did not have them; i was treated as unimportant and my concerns and times were not valued at all and to top it off i ended up paying for a repair that i told the service center about weeks prior my warranty expiring but it was not fixed and when it came up again, my warranty was gone. With still being in the need of break pads and an oil change, i called Volkswagen Pasadena and explained my situation. The Service Center Manager Steve personally took care of me and called me back within a short period of time to confirm that they were able to take care of my car. (He had to check on pricing and possibilities, since it was a Ford and not a Volkswagen) After everything was set, when arriving at Volkswagen, Steve greeted me personally, introduced me to the service advisor who would take care of me and my car and ensured that through out the process I always stayed updated and was taken care off. The VW team was amazing, not only was the price great, the service and follow up was amazing.
