I really wanted to like this dealership but I was given the run around for 4 days! Made me drive over an hour after promising me rates/approval/etc to find out everything was a lie. Couldn't get a straight answer from anyone there and the sales manager was so rude to my mother and I, raised his voice multiple times and had a terrible attitude. Couldn't get anyone to call me back, follow through on their promises or even let me know if I was approved or not and for what rate. I'm super disappointed in the way I was treated here and would not recommend. You're treated like scum of the earth from this dealership from the moment you walk in. I recently purchased a Golf SportWagen TDI online. Buying a car online was defiantly a first for me! This had to be hands down the easiest and most memorable experience I have ever had in purchasing a vehicle. Let me start by sharing I live 181 miles north of Pasadena. I knew I wanted the Golf SportWagen TDI and had a difficult time finding one near me. There were a few specifications I wanted and I found the perfect one at this dealership. I was willing to travel for the right car but I was also dealing with Highway 101 closure and not wanting to make the drive. My initial interaction was with Ben. He was wonderful! I'm sure he gets a lot of inquires online that never materialize and waste his time. Not once did I feel like he didn't take me serious or that I wasn't worth his time. I am extremely indecisive and hate committing to big purchases. When I told him my concerns and addressed my trade in I felt like he really heard me and cam up with great solutions. Once Ben knew I was ready to pull the trigger he passed me off to Jamal. From the moment Jamal called me I felt an instant connection. He not only worked to get me the exact payment I wanted but even with the 101 closed he also agreed to drive the car to me and pick up my trade in. Talk about white glove service! I never in a million years thought I could agree on a car over the phone and have it delivered to me. Jamal was so kind and so wonderful to work with I will never forget him. He drove up on a Monday and met me at my office to trade cars and sign paperwork. The second he walked in I knew it was him and it felt like a reunion with a best friend. I can't express the gratitude I have for such a wonderful experience! I was able to have the pleasure of enjoying lunch with Jamal and Andy (another associate who drove up with Jamal). They are such great people and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute with them. I work in sales and often come across people that I feel blessed to have crossed paths with, Jamal and Andy definitely fall into this category. I would have never expected all of this to come out of an online car inquiry but now they have a customer (181 miles away) for life! I bought my car here and get it serviced here too. It had a manufacturers defect with the coils so when I had it towed here they said they can only replace 2 of the 4, even though I asked for them all to be replaced. One month later I needed to tow my car in there again because the third coil went bad!!!!!!! Thank goodness for Norm in the service department and the manager because they said that they will replace the 4th one free of charge, and they delivered my car back to my house nice and clean. I would have given 5 stars if this problem was taken care of the first time. read more

My car buying experience with Vick at Volkswagen of Pasadena was outstanding from start to finish. After first talking with Vick on the telephone about a car advertised on the dealership's website, he arranged a ride for me from the west side of LA without hesitation. This alone, goes above and beyond any other salesperson or dealership I've ever dealt with. Upon arrival, the car was waiting for me to test drive. It was used, but you wouldn't have known it. It was clean, had new tires, and offered that charm and personality that only VWs can. I felt good about going through with this purchase. The price was excellent, the paperwork with Scott, the finance guy, was relatively painless, and Vick was extremely attentive and supportive throughout the entire process. Before I left, Vick made sure the car was freshly washed, hooked up my iPhone, and connected the free trial of Sirius radio. He also gave me a great recommendation for a nearby spot to grab a bite to eat, Sahara, a tasty middle-eastern restaurant with stellar service. Vick told me to call if I had questions and of course I had a few. I called and he continued with the same level of helpfulness I had experienced while at the dealership. Last week I bought my first non-privately owned car from this dealer. The entire time I expected to be bamboozled somehow; but it never happened. I found the car I wanted from Cars.com, and unlike some other dealers I called, they actually had the car in stock. I went in to buy and it could not have gone smoother. If you work with Gino from sales and Peter from financing, you have nothing to worry about. I walked in with a loan from USAA at 4.5% and left with a fraction of that APR. Are you kidding me???? I would have rated them 0 stars but unfortunately that isn't an option! I have made the mistake of going to Pasadena Volkswagen more than once (hey, everyone deserves a chance to redeem themselves, right?) I was looking to buy a new (to me) car. I just had a baby and wanted something more reliable than my 10+ year old Saab. My husband and I, with baby in tow, went to Pasadena VW to see what they had on offer. The first thing (and there were many) to annoy me was the overeager salesman standing ON THE SIDEWALK as I was unbuckling my child from the carseat and loading her into her stroller. Can you wait until we walk onto the lot please? How do you even know we're going there? Next, as we start to browse the used cars I notice there are no window stickers. Hmmmm, so as we ask the salesman about the prices of particular cars we're interested in his answer is "Oh, about X" and this continues through about 5 or 6 cars.....strangely the "approx" prices he was quoting us for used cars were thousands more than the new models...wha, wha, what???? At this point I'm ready to leave. As a new Mom I really don't have time to play games and my baby is getting cranky. Suffice it to say, we left, irritated that I wasted any time with those scheisters. I found a brand new Jetta at VW Downtown, which I basically purchased over the phone, went down, signed some papers and picked it up...now that's how you buy a car! I will NEVER set foot on the Pasadena VW lot and don't recommend you do either. read more

BAD SERVICE ZERO STARS I must say I hate this dealership. They never tell the same story twice. 2 months ago they told me i needed new front brakes that they were down to 7mm. Today I was back in and they said your brakes are at 12mm. Somehow they grew and saved me the $500 they wanted me to pay for new brakes and rotors. I have an oil consumption issue with my 2002 golf and they are doing what is called an oil consumption test. I checked the oil over and over and watched the dipstick practically dry up it was so low (1.5 quarts by my estimate) I took it in today and they, GEORGE, told me it was only 1/4 quart low and they topped it off for me. The service "specialist" also told me there was no record of me complaining about oil issues. I think i have ben in 4 times now to complain about the oil and they had told me I had to wait until the car hit 30,000 miles sa a "break" in period. They are liars and i confronted them on it and I was told I was wrong and to come back in 1000 miles. Unfortunatly i have to go to them for this test. I am calling AAA to help me and maybe the BBB. Another issue I went in for a AAA service special for a inexpesive oil change and tire rotation it was $29.95 (BTW the normal price at vw pas $89.99) THe service guy, MARIO, said he doidnt know anything about it. He reluctantly agreed but told me I had to go all the way home (17 miles) to get the coupon or they wouldnt honor it. WHen i gave the coupon to the cashier she told me I DIDNT NEED IT AT ALL. I went in the first time on my own and Gina spent a good deal time with me and was very helpful and knowledgeable. He is charming, courteous and took the time to listen to my questions. My favorite trait of Gino's is that he is not your typical car sales person. My husband and I went back together and again Gino took a lot of time with us and explained the full range of features for the Jetta Sportwagen TDI before he took us for a test drive. We went back a few days later to see what kind of deal we could get. Gino was delightful throughout that process (typically not one of my favorites) and we made a deal and bought the car. Once the car was ready Gino took me through all the mechanics and gadgetry of the car so that I was able to work everything before driving home. I tried. I went in with a "how bad can it be" attitude. Big mistake. I'll start off with my entrance to the service department. 2 men sitting there single finger typing talking to each other. Not even a glance to show acknowledgment of me standing literally right in front of them. It was almost like they were waiting to see who could go the longest without addressing a customer. During the time i was there 2 more came in and received the same welcome. This was beyond frustrating. Watching these 2 sloths (norm and mike) i realize all the reviews are coming true. Sadly though i left my car despite the warnings. Everything came true. The horrible service, the recommending of unnecessary work at exorbitant prices, and sadly yes, small dings and scratches throughout at pick up. The best part of the whole thing was the shuttle drivers were very very nice, javier and i forget the guy that did the pick up but he was nice. They should really have the drivers switch with the poor excuses of service desk help. Some things to work on pasadena vw: Eye contact with customers Acknowledge someone when they walk in - try this "hello, we'll be right with you" When someone is with a customer do NOT come up and ask about personal info involving so an so's wife in front of the customer. Promote shuttle drivers to replace current service help. Don't damage my 2011 cc. Stop making up unnecessary repair reccomendations. Take the stick out of norms @$$. I was glad, in a weird way, to see that just about everyone else has had a bad experience with this place. My 2003 VW New Beetle was purchased as a certified pre-owned and it has been a lemon from the day I bought it. I have pretty much systematically replaced every piece of this car one by one. It has had a ton of electrical problems which they refuse to acknowledge, and they keep insisting it's a problem with the battery (AAA is NOT pleased with having to replace the battery every other month). I am also lied to about what needs fixing. I will never buy another VW! Why can't we rate something zero stars?! That's not fair! read more

My review is in regards to the SALES department only. I am looking to replace my car and had noticed one of the used cars listed online. I decided to stop by, take it for a test drive, and see what I could work out for purchasing the car. I was VERY interested in the car before coming to this dealership, and had pretty much planned to purchase the car assuming there were no major issues with the mechanics of the car. The car itself was in great condition. I left without buying the car, or planning to ever return to this place, because of the horrible, dishonest service. Here are the reasons why I am taking my business elsewhere: 1) the manager, Jamal, treated me like I was completely incapable of understanding anything about cars beyond it's exterior. I was told I should buy the car because the color matched my eyes (and it's not even close, by the way!), 2) Jamal tried to sell me the car for $1000 MORE than the advertised price, then proceeded to add another $2000 in "fees" to the deal. 3) When I asked for specifics in terms of his "offer," he was very evasive. He refused to tell me even basics like how much I would be paying per month, the term of the repayment, etc. 4) After handing me a printout of my credit score, he lies and tells me they did not run my credit yet. 5) As I am leaving, Jamal asks me how I heard about the car, then pretends that he didn't know what the advertised price was. 6) The entire dealing with Jamal felt incredibly sleazy, pushy, and dishonest. It typified the "used car salesman" stereotype. I believe he thought that I would be an easy swindle because I'm a woman. 7) Jamal's associate, who had initially helped me and took me on the test drive, seemed completely uninterested in selling the car. However, at least he was pleasant and seemed to be at least somewhat honest. read more

Don't come here for service. They will tell you to fix more things than you need and they charge outrageous price. And stay away from MARIO, this MF quoted me $96 something for synthetic oil change which is not required. $96 for a freaking oil change, it was the most expensive one I ever had and he pretended it is normal to charge that price. Then he told me the mechanic found something wrong with my cv boots and some malfunctioned lights which cost all together more than $500 to fix. I did not budge and told him I would shop around to find a cheaper place to fix those parts. When I left he took out the suggested service that he mentioned that my car need so I can't take it to other shops to ask since some of the suggested parts are so technical that I have no clue what they are. Anyway, the only good guy here is George. All other service advisors, especially this Mario guy, are crooks. Somehow I think they actually make commissions on parts and service. read more

Dealerships always have the reputation of overcharging for service, ripping you off on parts, never honoring warranty work, and sleezy sales guy. This dealership fall in all of these categories and I've experienced them first hand. It's unfortunate that if you live in the area of Pasadena and Arcadia, you will have to go to these guys as there really no other close VW dealerships nearby. The service department is one of the worse departments I've dealt with. They charge you 50% more than independent mechanics. It makes completely no sense to me why they do this and why people still come to them. I'm guessing they fear that if they don't service through them, their warranty will be voided. This is totally un-true people! Please support the local mechanics, at least they don't charge you over $100 for an oil change. In addition, the service guys there are such jerks and thinks that since I'm a girl they can talk out of their ass to over charge me and treat me like a second class citizen. Unbelievable! I love Volkswagens so after my Passat lease was over, I decided to give the sales team a try to see how they were. They were just as bad as the service department! Obviously, all dealerships require you to wheel and deal and haggle for a good price. However, they lied to me just to get a sale. I knew VW was offering a 4% APR and I asked them what the APR is, they said 6%. So I asked him to show me the paper from VW Finance that states the APR, they would not show it to me and tried to change the subject immediately. I then told them that they should be giving me a better deal on the car since it's already March and the car must be sitting on the lot for well over 6 months. They said no, all 2011 cars come to our dealership in January, thats why the model year is 2011. BS! Everyone knows that the next model year cars release a few months before the coming year. I then ask him to show me the invoice and bam! it said they delivered the car Oct 2010. I told him do no lie to me to make sale. and walked out. What a waste of time. I give one star or a lot lower grade service for this dealer. I just brought my SUV for regular service to this dealer. Was cost about $850 included oil change, vehicle inspection, replace timing belt, replace brake fluid and wheel alignment. Total about 5 hours at the dealer. All of service was done and the car was back to me. I almost leave the dealer and suddenly just found the compartment box lid is broken off. So, I came back to the dealer and, show them broken off part. they just talk like not our fault... IT WAS NOT BROKEN LIKE THIS BEFORE THE SERVICE!! I could not believe them any more. So came back to home and just opened engine hood. you know what happened? engine cover was almost fall and was shaking inside the engine hood. CAN NOT BELIEVE their job!! I paid about $600 for labor and they did the worst job I ever seen. They do wash your car as free, but expect water marks and still dart all over . Don`t need to car wash! This review is for service dept. My 2011 Jetta TDI had a fuel line malfunction. They fixed the fuel line issue, but when I went in to pick it up, I noticed they had damaged the car - they had scratched the rear bumper amd had also spilled fuel in the rear cabin carpet. I refused to take possession of the car. They did repaint the bumper but the strong fuel odor was still in the car. I refused possession three more times as they said they were unable to get the odor out of the car. I finally gave up on them and took the car on my own dime to a car detailer where they were able to remove the smell with a good cleaning - which was all it took. Calls to management to express my displeasure were not returned. read more

I joined Yelp just to write this review, because I thought it was important to share. Very poor experience while looking to buy a new car. I cannot speak for the service department, but their sales group really needs to step it up compared to the many other dealerships in the greater LA area. My wife and I had been looking to buy a new vehicle, and speaking to several different dealerships. VW Pasadena happened to have a vehicle that we liked, and it was priced higher than other dealerships, but the location was convenient for us, and we were ready to buy THAT DAY with cash in hand. First, the salesman we were dealing with was somewhat pushy... Something that I had not experienced at other dealerships. Second, when we wanted to talk numbers, we were handed over to a manager(?), and things went downhill from there. This gentleman greeted and began talking to me, but completely ignored my wife. During our conversation, he answered his personal cell phone twice and had a heated conversation with some unknown party. If it were an emergency, I would have expected him to apologize and step out... Not this guy. Finally, after several sessions of stating numbers, having him walk away to check something, and come back, we could not get the numbers to match up, particularly with our trade in. (This guy was represented as a manager... couldn't he make his own decisions on what was acceptable?) It seemed they just didn't want to make the deal happen. If this was the case, I wish they would have just said from the beginning that we were too far apart. Eventually we decided to leave, and they did not even try to get us to stay. We immediately drove down to Capistrano VW and bought a car that day. Capo VW was SUPER EASY to work with, gave us a BETTER PRICE on what was basically the same car, and gave us THREE TIMES what Pasadena VW offered on our trade-in.... Crazy. Another thing to mention... Capo VW has no-haggle pricing, so if you don't like the back-and-forth, this is a good option. During our search, we also looked at Bozzani VW in Covina, and had an excellent experience. The only reason we didn't ultimately buy from Bozzani is because they didn't have the exact vehicle we wanted in stock at the time, and we wanted a new one ASAP. Even if you live right next door to Pasadena VW, I highly recommend making the drive to either Bozzani or Capo VW. You'll be treated well at either of them, and they'll make the experience a great one! read more

I probably drove past hundreds of car dealerships on my trip from OC to LA, but from a simple phone conversation I felt that VW Pasadena was worth the drive; I was not disappointed! From the moment I stepped on the lot, I knew I was in the right place. Gino, the Sales Consultant, greeted me with a smile and a genuine helpful attitude. I had seen the car I was interested in on the internet, and...it wasn't a VW!! That made no matter. Gino was beyond knowledgeable about the vehicle in question and, within 5 minutes, I was on a test drive! Wheeee! Back at the sales office, I presented Gino with the amount I was willing to put down for the car, as well as the monthly payment that would comfortably fit into my budget. With the help of Pete the Finance Manager, I WAS DRIVING BACK TO OC IN MY MINI COOPER...AT PAYMENTS LESS THAN WHAT I REQUIRED!!! Oh... and I should also mention: right as I was beginning to leave the lot in my shiny Cooper, I noticed a 'ding' on the front bumper (it was a used car after all, but...) I mentioned this to Gino who replied with, "Bring it back on Wednesday when our best body detailer is here; he'll make it look like new!" So...I did and...WOW!! IT LOOKS LIKE A BRAND NEW BUMPER!!!! AT NO ADDITIONAL COST TO ME, I MIGHT ADD!! I truly cannot say enough good things about Gino, Pete, and all the Associates at VW Pasadena! They've got a customer in me FOR LIFE!
