Volleys specializes in tennis equipment, apparel, and repair. We carry dozens of racquet models from premier manufacturers such as Babolat, Wilson, Head, and Yonex, along with shoes for men, women, and youth.
We offer fast and professional racquet restringing service.
We carry balls, accessories, a wide selection of string, court equipment, and tennis-specific apparel from core to fashion.
Try any racquet in the store with our demo program. Leave a $25 deposit and you have 30 days to try as many racquets as you like, two racquets for up to three days at a time. When you purchase a racquet with us, your deposit is applied to the purchase of your racquet.
We also carry swim gear! We supply local swimmers with goggles, fins, caps, bags, training gear, and essential swimwear from Speedo, Finis, & TYR.
We special order as well! If we don't have what you need, we're happy to order from our wide variety of suppliers to support your successful on the court and in the pool!
History
Established in 2004.
Established by Roger Gough, the original shop was located in 300 sq. ft. of space in the Depot Building at 130 G Street in Davis. Purchased in 2008 by a partnership of local tennis players who wanted to keep the store open as a resource for local tennis players, they sold it to Dave Brooks and Scot Siden in Nov., 2012.
Shop moved to the Courtyard building in July, 2014, in a site with twice the space of the original shop. Racquet, shoe, and apparel lines were increased to represent the needs of the tennis community. We have developed partnerships with the Davis Tennis Club, the UC Davis tennis teams, the UC Davis Tennis Club, the Woodland Tennis Club, and area high school teams from American Canyon to West Sacramento.
In August, 2020, the Davis Sport Shop closed and Volleys took over their swim line, offering projects from Speedo, Finis, and TYR to supply local swimmers and swim teams.
Meet the Business Owner: Dave and Scot ..
Dave and Scot have been friends since their days at West Sacramento's middle school. They played on their high school's tennis team, and after graduation, Dave caught the coaching bug, eventually becoming the head coach of their alma mater, River City High, and coaching the team to dozens of championships throughout the years. Dave also manages the tennis program of the West Sacramento Recreation Center. Of the two owners, you're most likely to find Dave at the shop running the day-to-day operations.
Scot runs the business side of the shop as he works full time in Sacramento. With a background in business management and marketing, Scot plugs away behind the scenes while still getting out to play tennis with his sons and friends from time to time. He works in the shop occasionally and is the one most likely to be behind a display table at community events.
