Von's 1000 Spirits was at the top of my list for Seattle must-try's, and I'd recommend the same for other visitors for the delicious homemade sourdough pasta as well as a broad menu that's sure to have something everyone will like. We were seated for lunch in what I think is the event space, so not typical seating for this restaurant. Our table was near a large party, so most of our meal was pretty loud. However, we also had a corner spot with an amazing view of the Seattle Art Museum, and overall it felt relatively peaceful. Jonathan was an excellent server and took great care of us throughout our stay. Do ask about the HH specials if you are there between 2-6, as you can get some good deals on cocktails, as well as the Beecher's mac and cheese, and a few other dishes. Aside from the HH menu, you can get a good price on Manhattans and martinis at any time, and while the specialty Huckleberry Bramble was great, they do make a damn fine martini here. We savored the Spicy Rigs pasta but sadly did not have room for more. I feel pretty safe saying that next time we return to Seattle, we'll be coming back to Von's to try more of their menu. read more

Some friends recommended we come here and I'm so glad we did!! It was really cool to see the sourdough pasta being made fresh right when you walk in. Nine years in the making... I haven't lived in Seattle in quite some time and this is the first stop. I need to go back to Vons 1000 spirits and roughly 9 years. Why do I know it's in nine years because I turned 50 when I came and in all that time at the time of this review, Vons is still rated number two in all restaurants in Seattle on Yelp. I made this trip with my fiancé and had to have Vons on my list. Everything was as great as I remembered, but I don't know what it's gonna take after two visits to get a seat in the front room where all the bottles are. We started off with a pizza with their sourdough, scratch dough that was phenomenal. She had a burger, and I had the mac & cheese that featured Beechers cheese and I added the pulled pork. Up to this point everything was phenomenal, including the hula Hula drink, and my Rye whiskey Manhattans. A big shout out to Shera our waitress, who was very knowledgeable and took great care of us. She even shared the Bar Bible the book that has all their spirits in house, but that wasn't 100% correct because I wanted Sambuca with coffee and they could not produce Sambuca with over 1000 bottles in house. I settled for an espresso martini with our campfire Rocky Road dessert that was also just as phenomenal as everything else. Nothing less than five out of five stars and after nine years of waiting to come back, this place was just as incredible as I remembered and I'm sure I played it up big in my head, but Vons 1000 spirits nailed it on all areas. Next time I come back to Seattle, I will definitely come here again, but do what I have to to get a seat in the front room. Also, currently they do not accept reservations. This has been my favorite spot for food quality since 2022, but I always hesitate to bring guests here because the service is so inconsistent. I've heard so many raves and reviews about it numerously yet this was my first experience trying it out with a group of colleagues I've hung out with and wanted to keep the chemistry going. Highly recommend trying out anything that has sourdough in it whether it's pizza, pasta, or just bread on the side. They are known for their sourdough as it is made fresh daily. I ordered the Spicy Fennel Meatballs with Lusty Lady Marinara. On my next visit, I would like to try the Best Classic Hamburger and french fries and skip an appetizer. Von's also has martinis for $7.99! While we didn't drive from our hotel to the restaurant, they don't have designated parking, but there is lot of parking nearby. Street parking around the area and a bunch of parking garages around downtown Seattle. Ride share it back if you've had a few extra adult bevy's. What an incredible dinner! It's not often where I find a menu that truly "speaks" to me, but boy oh boy did Von's hit the nail on the head. Both times I've gotten the crispy bang bang chicken and it has been delicious! It is an appetizer but it quite honestly is enough to fill you up. We went to Vons 1000 Spirits on Sunday night, and unfortunately, this was one of the most disappointing dining experiences we had during our trip. And honestly, the worst part was that the food was AMAZING. The food deserves a much better review than the service we received. Our waiter completely changed the atmosphere of the restaurant for us. From the moment we sat down, we felt like we were an inconvenience rather than paying customers who were there to enjoy ourselves. It took an unnecessarily long time for him to even come over and greet us, and we had to wait to get something as basic as water. Once we finally started ordering, he never repeated our order back to us. Again, we understand that mistakes happen, and we wouldn't have been upset if something had gone wrong despite his best effort. But he ended up getting our order wrong, and there was no sense of urgency or concern about fixing it. What really stood out was his attitude. After almost every single thing we ordered, he would say, "Is that all?" Instead of making us feel welcomed, it came across as though he was trying to get us to stop ordering and leave. It made the entire interaction uncomfortable. Then came the wait for our food. We sat there watching another couple get seated after us, get their food before us, finish their entire meal, and pay before we had even received our food. At that point, it was hard not to wonder if our table had simply been forgotten. When our food finally came out, our waiter would put the plates down and immediately walk away. We would say "thank you," and he wouldn't acknowledge us or say anything back. Not even a simple "you're welcome." It may sound like a small thing, but when you combine that with the long wait, the incorrect order, the lack of greeting, and the constant "Is that all?" comments, it created an incredibly unpleasant experience. Ironically, the person who actually made us feel welcomed was the food runner. Shout-out to him because in the approximately 10 seconds he interacted with us, he was friendlier and more helpful than our waiter had been the entire time. He even helped fix our order, and we genuinely appreciated his kindness. It really highlighted the difference between someone who was actually trying to help guests and someone who seemed completely disengaged. The payment interaction was another awkward moment. Our waiter brought the payment machine over, my boyfriend tapped his phone to pay, and immediately afterward the waiter said, "Your total is ___, by the way." It was strange considering the payment had already been completed. What makes this experience especially frustrating is that the restaurant itself had everything going for it. The food was excellent. We wanted to enjoy the evening and leave with a great impression, but the service overshadowed everything. We were also tourists, which makes it even more disappointing. When you're visiting somewhere, you want to leave with a positive memory of the places you chose to spend your money. Instead, we left talking about how uncomfortable and unwelcome our waiter made us feel. We aren't expecting perfect service, and we understand that restaurants get busy and mistakes happen. But basic hospitality, attentiveness, and courtesy shouldn't be too much to expect. We weren't upset about one mistake or one slow moment -- it was the consistent attitude and lack of effort throughout the entire meal that ruined the experience. It's honestly a shame because the food was so good that we would have happily recommended this place, but the service made us question whether we'd ever want to come back. Food wise, we ordered the clam and pork confit fries for apps; for the mains, we order the king salmon pasta, bolognese pasta, and the chicken pizza. Everything was great! I think the king salmon was everyone's favorite but i also really enjoyed the clams and bolognese. I just wished the clam appetizer came with more bread and the bolognese pasta sauce was more saucier. We could have passed on the fries though. This was one of the most disappointing takeout experiences I've had in Seattle. I ordered the Spicy Fennel Meatballs and paid extra to add provolone cheese. The receipt clearly shows that I paid for the provolone, so I reasonably expected it to be melted on top of the meatballs. Instead, the cheese was tossed into a separate container, which completely changed the dish and defeated the purpose of paying for the add-on. Unfortunately, that wasn't the biggest problem. While eating the meatballs, I bit into what appeared to be a charred piece of wood that was mixed into the marinara sauce. It was hard enough that I immediately stopped eating because I was concerned about damaging a tooth. Needless to say, the meal was ruined. I took a photo of the object. To make matters worse, the hostess who handed me my order acted as though I was inconveniencing her. There was no greeting, no friendliness, and the interaction felt cold and annoyed. Incorrectly prepared food is frustrating. Finding what appears to be a foreign object in the food is unacceptable. Von's is one of our favorite places in the city. We've tried everything from burgers to pizza to pasta and loved all of it. It comes out quick, hot, and tasting great. The only thing we haven't been a fan of is the fish and chips which had a bit too much breading, but we've enjoyed everything else. Their bloody mary's are some of the best in the city and their smoky rocky road pie is a must order. The service here is always super nice, and we love looking at all the cool bottles lined up against the wall. For sure one of the best restaurants in the city! read more
