I live super close to this location and I love how fresh we receive our food! I love the fried chicken the crispy padak is my favorite with all the green onion shavings. The fried cheese balls and the japchae are very tasty as well and they have an awesome lunch time meal that's very filling and such a great deal! This is a cute aesthetic little spot. The Korean lady that works here is amazing. She is very friendly and always smiling. She brought a high chair to the table and wiped it down before. The food is a 10/10. The boneless fried garlic chicken has great flavor. Japchae was fresh and the vegetables weren't soggy. After passing by this place several times to visit a relative at a nursing home down the street, I wondered how this place could stay in business with such an off-street location. Plus I'd tried Vons Chicken in LA and hadn't been impressed. But one day it was past lunch time, the lot was empty but OPEN sign lit and decided to give them a try. I'm glad I did! The lady working there was very friendly and she pre warned me that they cook to order so it would take a few extra minutes. I ordered the $10 lunch special with several delicious chicken pieces, a cup of their radish slices and a scoop of steamed rice. Perfect for a decent lunch! The chicken was crispy on the outside and so moist and tender inside! Half the pieces were original non spicy and the rest were mild spice. Both were juicy and delicious . I'll try to crank up the spice a bit next time. And to make up for the (short) wait, she threw in a can of soda! She didn't need to but it was much appreciated. This is definitely worth a visit and more. They are hard to see from the major street Manzanita, and are one lot west of Manzanita and Gibbons and looks like a tiny house but is actually the restaurant. read more

Omg, I can't believe a Vons Chicken opened up near my house!! This is dangerous! I love Korean fried chicken. The batter that Vons uses is very delicious and all their fried chicken are always so crunchy and juicy. When I first had Vons, I was surprised how pricey it was, but the drumsticks are massive. Did it make me want to come back... the jury is still out. The honey butter was kind of odd. Sweet with what seemed like a chocolate scent. The spicy chicken was medium and too spicy for me. No dings, because that's totally my tongue. Lastly the garlic chicken. It had a wet sauce covering the crunchy chicken and the chicken stayed crunchy for the most part. It just wasn't a delightful garlic sauce. We also got some gyoza and they were dry and chewy. Not appetizing. We picked up some dinner here tonight and man, we're we impressed! We ordered WAY too much food but the leftovers will last for the weekend. The medium spicy crispy Yangyum chicken wings were spicy and sweet and the chicken it retained its crunch even with the sauce. So good! The Japchae with chicken is quite mild yet still flavorful and you get a TON. A good choice. The soy sauce and black vinegar boneless chicken has a lovely complex flavor with just a little spicy bite. We really enjoyed that one. The red burn boneless chicken was fire - like literally. Super spicy but still flavorful. It wasn't just burning but it packed a punch! The kimchi fried rice is outstanding and easily my favorite fried rice. It's not too greasy and it has enough vegetables in it to make it interesting. I highly recommend getting an order. We're pretty pleased that Von's opened up on our neighborhood. Been on my list for awhile so glad I finally made it there. Korean Fried Chicken and Oven Toasted Chicken. The Crispy Garlic Chicken buttery and garlicky and of course crispy. I love that they let you choose what chicken parts you want I got all drumsticks. The Crispy YANGNYUM Chicken all wings and I got mild which had just the amount of heat I wanted. The Rice Cake was a surprise, sweet and spicy creamy rice treats. Finally my latest obsession Kimchi in a Kimchi Fried Rice All of it was wonderful including the Radish Salad and the bonus salad they threw in. The restaurant is clean and the folks working there very courteous, kind and helpful explaining and answering all my questions. Highly recommend you find this place and give it a try. The other one was downtown near S street and Folsom. But this one is by far the best. The people running it are so nice and sweet and very warm and kind. This place has the best chicken ever. They're always friendly and the chicken quality is an A+. I had the boneless special sauce chicken and my husband had the drums and thighs. My husband and I are definitely fans of this Vons location. We got the lunch special and the portions were huge! His boneless wings weren't dry at all and didn't have too much batter. Good flavor, and the chicken was still crunchy even after the 20 min drive home. Fries were a bit soggy by the time I got home but not a deal breaker. Can't wait to try more flavors and their sides-dying to try the tteokbokki cuz i didn't realize on the online order it's labeled as rice cakes so I totally didn't see it LOL. Picking up the food went well too, it was ready in the time frame promised and an older gentleman, I assume the cook or owner, even came out from behind the counter to say thank you for ordering. This is a new location for Vons Chicken. It is a bit different from other "chicken" places. You can choose from oven baked or fried chicken. I ordered both types and also some potstickers. I was told when ordering on site it would be 25 minutes for my order. It was ready in 15. The order came with what seemed like pickled jicima. I liked it. Different, unexpected. Nice.
