    B. Crispy Fried Chicken (Half)
    Andreas G.

This time we tried the crispy chicken with soy garlic flavor. We got the half order and that was easily enough for two. We chose the mixture of wings and drumsticks. The chicken is very nicely breaded and really crunchy and I liked the soy garlic seasoning. I preferred the wings as they are a bit crispier. We got a nice table outside and some sodas to enjoy our chicken. Was a nice satisfying lunch and would come back again for some more fried chicken. Overall I liked the fried chicken better than the oven chicken.

The cheese buldak here is sooooo good. The chicken is kinda spicy, but the layer of melted cheese helps to cut down the spice. It's perfect for a cold night. The garlic chicken here is also crispy and tasty.

I m truly disappointed with my fellow yelpers. How can anyone rate them 3 or more stars? Aside from the service, there was nothing good at this place. 1. Their kimchi fried rice was a joke. No kimchi whatsoever, basically, white rice mixed with kimchi juice. 2. The rice cake was way too spicy and was deep fried... what??!! It was really dry and some were even hollow from overcooking (picture tells a 1000 words) 3. The garlic chicken sauce had no garlic flavors and was overly sweet. Chicken was dry. 4. The honey butter chicken was basically sprinkled with powder butter and sugar...yuck! Not to mention the chicken was also dry

Extra Spicy Sauce (a must-try if you love spicy food like I do!) and radish (a perfect accompaniment to the chicken!)

Never disappoints! I absolutely love this Korean fried chicken spot, Vons Chicken is my favorite chain! The downtown Redwood City location is amazing; I'm not sure why, but they always cook the chicken to perfection, with the crispiest coating, and the sauce is absolutely amazing!

I was looking for a korean chicken place in Redwood City and stumbled upon Vons Chicken in downtown. My friend and I wanted to try it out since it was close by. It is a small restaurant and they have outdoor seating. It seems like most of their orders are takeout. Cheese Buldak (5/5): This was pretty good. The chicken was nice and tender. It was spicy but not too spicy. I loved the rice cakes in the dish. It came with a side of pickled radish and a slaw. The portion was good for the price as well. It did take a while to come out of the kitchen but understandable because it probably needs to be broiled to melt the cheese on top. This is definitely going to become a go to spot for chicken! The service was good as well. They have an online ordering system if you want to do pick up.

I came here once back in 2022 and wondered why I'd been missing out on such a phenomenal joint all this time. Their chicken is made to be perfectly crispy, chicken is juicy, and the seasoning hits all the right notes for me. When we came back with our kids in 2024, they weren't terribly impressed by my selection BUuUT they were gaga for the Soy (garlic) fried chicken. As in we had to order another batch of that. So it really was a win for all of us. Great customer service every time as well! (FYI the picture is of our Husky puppers enjoying their time in the outdoor seating!)

I stopped by to try their lunch deal which was 15.99. I got the crispy yang-nyeom sauce with two drums, two wings, and fries. The sauce was sweet and you can adjust the spice level which I ordered the medium. I think the next time I come here I would order a more savory sauce just due to taste preferences. I also should've got the sauce on the side since it wasn't as crispy due to it. The fries were crispy and not too salty. I did a pick-up order but the worker I interacted with was nice. There is not a lot of seating indoors but more outdoors.

Sooo crispy and soo good! Came here with a party of 5 on a Friday night. We wanted some good fried chicken and this place didn't disappoint. Dining area was a bit small and ordering can get overwhelming if there are a bunch of people in line waiting for their to-go orders. But we ordered a good amount of chicken and fries to snack on. Highly recommend the boneless ssam chicken as it comes with tons of veggies and pickled radish so you don't feel too guilty eating fried food at the end of the night! We also had tteokbokki (rice cakes) which I thought were okay. I try to be mindful of my waste and didn't like that there were tons of disposable containers used to store our ketchup, coleslaw, and pickled radish. But the food was still amazing for a solid 4 stars! Our total came out to $160 for a group of 5. Great deal for the feast we had.

Redwood City downtown is kinda small and half of the stores have closed down but they do try to have a variety of different cuisines. I appreciate all the shaded outdoor seating with some streets being closed off from traffic. Parking is $1 per hour. It's nice to see Von's here and the lunch plate is not a bad deal for $15.60. The spicy wings have a good amount of heat. I prefer the flats vs drumette. Flats are juicier and drumsttes were more dry like breasts. Also ordered the Crispy YANG-NYUM Chicken for $20 you get half a chicken and I decided to go with combo which is 5 drumsticks with 3 wings. Their spicy level could use another level to kick it up a notch for spice lovers like me. All in all, the amount of food was good. Von's chicken always has a nice crunchy coating and their chicken is perfectly marinated. Service was attentive. Wait was minimal. Place was casual. This is definitely one of the better options in Redwood city

First timer trying this Korean Fried Chicken spot in the heart of RWC. I've seen it else where but not locally so when I saw it, I said we have to try it. We ordered at the cashier and we were seated outside on the patio on a nice day, along with my dog. We ordered the crispy fried honey butter and real garlic chicken and cheddar cheese balls. I was shocked how no one told me how good this fried chicken was. I love me some fried chicken. Now that I've been here I will be back!

Came here for the lunch special, and ordered the soy garlic wings mild and some sweet potato fries and pickled radish. - overall, everything was pretty good and there's some nice outdoor seating. - the chicken was had some crispy skin, but the sauce/seasoning was very light and underwhelming. I expected it to be sweeter, and stickier and more saucy like other Korean style wings. also some pieces of the chicken were on the drier side - sweet potato fries were quite delicious -- lightly crisp and soft on the inside - radish was pretty standard

Vons fried chicken for the win!! I brought the garlic chicken and the soy/vinegar chicken to a Friendsgiving and it was a hit! The food was delicious and easy to share. I ordered online and it was very fast and easy to pick up.

If you're coming here, I'd recommend going with a group so you can order more dishes and try everything. Here's what we ordered: Daeho Kalbijim (braised beef ribs): signature dish, completely lived up to the hype. The beef ribs were incredibly tender, having absorbed all of the seasoning. It's of course my favorite dish of the night. Suyuk (beef combination, includ brisket and oxtail etc). Beef was very tender, and the broth was light so that you can actually taste the natural flavor of the beef. Japchae: Another restaurant's popular dish, noodles was very well-seasoned Bulgogi Dolsot Bibimbap: also delicious and generous portions! The amount of food was just right for our group of five. We left feeling very full and satisfied. I can already see why Daeho is so popular, and I'm looking forward to my next visit already!!!!

They are located on a busy main street but the parking garage is just a block away. They have a Yelp waitlist but it wasn't even available when we came. Thankfully we were able to beat the lunch rush and got a table for 7 pretty quickly. They were trying to squish us into a small table for 6 which definitely would not have worked with all of the dishes and banchan, so I'm glad that we only had to wait a few extra minutes for a larger space. Service was quick so you can tell that they are really being mindful of turnover during these busy times. It's best to just order family style here if you have a large party. We picked 5 dishes (double of the kalbijjim): - Kalbijjim: this is a MUST whenever you come to Daeho! They have different types or meats but we went with the original braised short rib, with added rice cake and cheese. They advertise this as enough for 2-3 people which is pretty accurate. It looks very large when it comes out but the amount of actual meat is sufficient for 2-3 people, hence why we ordered two of them for our group. - Hae Mul Pajeon: the seafood pancake is also another go-to here. I love their house sauce. Ask for it extra crispy! - Modeum Seolleong Tang: they are also well known for their ox bone soup. The broth is nice and I know a lot of work goes into it, but it's not a go-to item for me personally, since it's just a little bit more on the plain/pure side. - Daeho Kal Guksu: this is the knife cut noodle soup with beef, clam, and egg. I liked this soup better than the seolleongtang. The noodles were nicely cooked and it just had a little bit more flavor for me. I like their banchan selection, and love that they offer purple rice or white rice. Such a delicious meal here and can't wait to return!

Leek Pancake - This was made so well, it was thin yet crispy and held together well. The leeks gave a subtle flavor and were a little tough to bite through but it tasted so good, especially dipped in the side sauce. Yangji Chadol Sul Long Tang - At first glance, this setup is so nice with the assortment of sides at the top to the different items you can add into the soup. I loved the fish cake side as well as the kimchi which they do give refills of. It was nice being able to add seasoning in the soup to match my taste and so perfect combined all together with the radish side sauce. Our meal came with the standard banchan and tea. The bibimbap was served surprisingly cold and didn't leave much of an impression. It was fairly standard overall, though I did appreciate that the gochujang and sesame oil were served separately, allowing diners to adjust the flavor to their preference. The leek pancake was one of the better dishes we tried. It had a nice balance of textures, with a slightly crispy exterior while the leeks remained soft and tender. The galbi tang included jujubes, which is something I don't see very often. However, the soup itself was underwhelming. There were barely any noodles, and the broth had an off-putting flavor that came across as somewhat fishy. The tofu soup was decent but fairly standard and not particularly memorable. On the other hand, the hotteok was excellent! It was warm, comforting, and generously filled, making it one of the highlights of the meal. The restaurant itself is very spacious, so finding seating isn't an issue. While the service was excellent and a few dishes stood out, the overall dining experience wasn't worth a return visit for me :-(

The concept of having Korean food cooked in a robotic food truck is interesting to me. Since the food was catered, unfortunately I was unable to see the robots cooking in action, but fortunately was able to taste the final products. I was able to try the Wagyu galbi (short ribs), dak galbi (marinated chicken), Seoul food bowl (stir-fried pork belly and shrimp), and japchae, served with their corn salad, kimchi, and white rice. The Wagyu galbi was very flavorful with a good amount of vegetables; though I enjoyed the inclusion of lotus root, the veggies seemed like borderline filler to skimp out on meat. The dak galbi was also flavorful though spicy, and again the inclusion of rice cakes seemed like filler. The pork belly and shrimp were delicious, and I liked that the pieces of pork belly I had didn't have an overpowering amount of fat. The japchae was pretty standard and was nice to balance out the meat. I enjoyed the corn salad because it added a creamy component to my meal. The kimchi got lost in the mixture of food in my bowl and the rice was cooked perfectly by the robot. Overall, I enjoyed the food prepared by OLHSO Truck. Unfortunately, since the food was catered and already prepared when I arrived, I cannot comment on the service or wait times provided by the staff. I would consider ordering food from the truck if I am craving Korean fusion type of food and am too lazy to dine in at a local Korean restaurant. If the food from the truck is a good representation of the restaurant in downtown San Mateo, I am more inclined to try the restaurant for a nice sit down dining experience.

The tofu stone pot is delicious with quite a lot of tofu. The grilled chicken is so-so. The stir-fried glass noodle dish is good. Note there is no free parking and you'll have to pay for parking on the street.
