First time eating inside this restaurant although I've had their takeout a ton. Amazing Wok never disappoints. They are truly amazing. Service was good. Food was hot and delicious. Ambience is nice enough and the price is the best in San Carlos. Woot Woot!

Great lunch specials! Includes a main dish, hot & sour soup, and choice of fried rice/steamed rice/chow mein/brown rice for $12-15. Service was fast on a Monday lunch.

Came for lunch. For the lunch special. Great portion for my daughter and I. We both had leftovers for dinner. Lots of flavor. We got the chow mein with chicken and broccoli And I got the friend rice with Mongolian beef. It also came with sweet and sour soup

I was having a hankering for some good ole Seafood Sizzling Rice Soup and the Amazing Wok did not disappoint! Excellent and friendly service, and the food was served hot and fresh. If you haven't tried this kind of soup, I recommend ordering it with a small bowl of steamed rice, some lemon, and adding a small amount of red chili oil (or you'll choke a bit from the chili fumes if you go overboard with it lol!) The soup is large portioned, the seafood plentiful, and delicious! I used to have this soup with my dear departed mother back in the day at the now closed The Great Wall Chinese Restaurant that used to be located next door to Dennis Nelson Health Spa (then later The Crunch.)

And an order of potstickers. First off , it's very expensive. But everything is now . For wonton soup, 4 potstickers , 1 kung pao, 1 sweet and sour pork, fried rice and a side order of potstickers it was almost $80 . The actual entrees were really good ( sweet and sour pork, kung pao chicken) service was friendly and fast . BUT I have been searching Redwood City, San Carlos , Belmont and surrounding areas for a decent potsticker. Sadly to no avail. Oddly enough the best potstickers are at cache creek casino over an hour away at Chang Shou. This place is no different. Their potstickers were undercooked perogies. Not sure they know what a potsticker is around here. Most places mislabel by calling them gyosa, or dumplings, or even buns. A good potsticker is firm, well cooked and as close to burnt on the bottom as you can get without actually causing a char. They are not ....wet, soggy, doughy, or a straight up undercooked pork bun. I would come back for the entrees but it's just too expensive.

Curry Beef Stew I've never had Curry beef stew before, prefer chicken, curry, but for some odd reason, I decided to order this dish. It was underwhelming and I won't order it again. The Curry sauce itself was OK but the big long pieces of beef were somewhat gross, lots of fat. They added plenty of slices to onions and a few pieces of green pepper and Julienned carrots, but that's about it for being called a stew. So I learned my lesson by not sticking to my usual order, and won't order wonton soup or curry beef stew again.

Cheesy, tender, egg fried rice was flavorful. Portion kinda small, as the dish was very shallow. Not a lot of rice. Kinda off tho when it was the first dish that arrived to the table and it was lukewarm. I find a baked dish is typically always last since it needs time to bake, and is served scalding hot imo. That's when you know it's done right. This wasn't that. Suss The baked pork chop with cheese and tomato sauce was so disappointing and super greasy/heavy. The meat was chewy and had an unpleasant flavor. The tomato sauce was not good either. The shrimp wonton noodle soup I sadly cannot recommend, the filling was not good. Had more pork than shrimp consistency. I did not enjoy the flavor. Not aromatic. I will say, the noodles were great quality. Thin, bouncy, correct texture. What you would hope for. The soup was not good. The roast duck was good, with tender meat and fatty skin. Flavorful with the plum sauce. The fish congee was good, though a bit too runny imo once cooled down. The fried donut (you tiao) was crunchy and very doughy. Would be nice if they could slice it. I can agree with everyone about their thoughts on the 18% mandatory tip fee, it's crazy lol. Mandatory service fee for hk service (which is minimal service). It was so hard to flag down the waiter for refilling water, or to get more napkins. The place was empty and they were on their phone the whole time. Waiting for that automatic tip. Whatever man.

My server/waiter was an older gentleman. He offered me a table by the window. The table setting was very thoughtful. They offer chopsticks, but there's also a fork and knife wrapped in a red cloth napkin. They gave me ice water, but I also asked for hot tea. King Chuan has a detailed menu, with several dishes having a brief description. I ordered Wor Won Ton Soup. I asked for dark meat chicken only. They said "no problem." The Wor Won Ton Soup was very good. The soup had napa cabbage, carrots and broccoli. The chicken was tender and easy to eat. It also had pieces of beef and a few shrimp. The broth was light, and not salty. I also ordered the "Hot Dragon Chicken Wings." With a name like that, I expected very spicy wings. The wings were not spicy at all. In fact, I had to add salt to bring the flavor out. I was puzzled as to why these fried chicken wings have a mild flavor if they're served with spicy seasonings. I guess I was expecting something else. Overall, a nice experience. From the first visit, it was clear this isn't an "Americanized Chinese restaurant," but a place that truly understands Chinese cooking, technique, and flavor. What impressed me most were the mushroom dishes. Being able to enjoy mushrooms with such depth and complexity in the U.S. is already rare. The aroma isn't built from heavy seasoning, but from the ingredients themselves, fully brought out. The flavors are clean, natural, and incredibly fragrant--the kind that lingers and keeps you wanting more. It immediately brought back memories of authentic Yunnan flavors. Even more impressive were some of the seemingly ordinary stir-fried dishes. At first glance, they look simple, almost unassuming. One bite in, though, and you instantly understand what real wok hei is. That smoky, high-heat flavor can only come from a skilled chef using proper equipment and precise timing. It's not greasy or overpowering--just deeply aromatic and perfectly balanced. Simple, yet elevated. Overall, this is a restaurant that doesn't rely on gimmicks, fancy plating, or social-media hype. Everything is driven by pure technique and respect for ingredients. Each dish has a clear identity and leaves a lasting impression--not something you just photograph and forget, but something you actually remember. In the Bay Area, where Chinese restaurants are everywhere but truly great ones are rare, Ping's Bistro is a place I'd gladly return to again and again. If you're looking for something different, want to experience real wok hei, or simply appreciate honest, well-executed Chinese cooking, this spot is absolutely worth a dedicated visit.
