The jjampong soondubu was delicious. I asked for rice instead of noodles, and while the flavor was great, I do wish the rice had come on the side instead of directly in the soup. Next time, I'd definitely request it separately. The jjajang was a little sweeter than I personally prefer, but it was still very flavorful and satisfying. The noodles were the highlight for me! Perfectly bouncy, chewy, and cooked just right. The tangsuyuk wasn't my favorite. It tasted a bit too salty, and something about it felt a little different from what I'm used to. I can't quite put my finger on it, but it didn't stand out the way the noodles did. Overall, the noodle dishes were great, and I'd come back for those!

Paik's Noodle has always been my go-to spot for Korean food (especially jajang dishes), and I went to San Carlos location the most since it's the closest to my house. Some of my favorites are: Jajang noodles, shrimp fried rice, jajang rice. They're all strong flavors, but if you're used to black bean sauce you would love it. Jajang rice comes with fried shrimp and egg, and an extra bowl of jjamppong soup (spicy seafood soup) - so basically it's the best deal allowing you to try a bit of everything. But my absolute favorite is the sweet and sour pork! I really love the sauce and I think nowhere else in the Bay is as good as this. Portions are always huge, so it's best to come with a group and sharing food.

So conveniently located, just a 5-minute walk from our hotel. Staff were friendly and really listened to our input. We ordered #13 Shrimp fried rice and #16 sweet and sour pork. The shrimp fried rice was delicious, not oily, the jajang sauce was a little salty for our taste. The sweet and sour pork had a light breading, and the meat was tender and juicy. It's a casual dining restaurant with a good mix of music genre in the background. Located in a strip mall with shared parking.

The food was okay not as flavorful. They have a parking lot which is good. Service was okay. Overall it was okay.

So excited I stumbled on this restaurant in San Carlos . Excellent choice for kdrama Korean casual meal !! Service was super friendly . Loved the free radish starter ! We ordered two non spicy noodles . Yummy beef jajangmyeon and beef jampoong. Lots of protein both bowls. Loved that they give you a pair of scissors to cut the noodles !! Definitely coming back .

Good food. Not bad price. Mediocre service. Need to change the Shrimp fried rice on their menu. Looks like it has actual shrimps on the menu however in actual reality its like baby shrimps. Disappointed that's all.

3.5 stars - I really enjoy the Santa Clara location to get my Korean-Chinese cuisine fix, so I was excited Paik's opened a location in the peninsula. However, I think that the Santa Clara location is better overall. We came on a Saturday evening around 7pm and were seated immediately. It took longer than expected for our food to come out (about 15 minutes after ordering). The food tasted good. For 2 people, we order the jajangmyeon (black bean sauce noodles), jjampong (spicy seafood noodle soup), and sweet & sour pork. The portion sizes felt smaller compared to Santa Clara's location. The interior is clean and modern. There is plenty of free parking (lot).

I don't venture out to San Carlos that much, but I was happy to try this Korean-Chinese restaurant! It was nice to find out that there were exclusive dishes that can ONLY be ordered at this location, so we made sure to order at least one of those items. My favorites were the Jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup) and the Meat Jajangmyeon (black bean sauce noodles). Both had very different flavors, but still comforting. The seafood soup had a nice kick to it, but was perfect on that cold night we went. Noodle texture here is also pretty close to perfect with just enough bounce to them. What we ordered: * Chili Shrimp * Black Pepper Beef (only available at this location!) * Jjamppong * Meat Jajangmyeon * Garlic Soy Chicken Wings (10pc)

3.5 stars? Quick service and clean interior. Jajangmyun was good. I wish there was an option for the egg on the noodles (like there is for the rice). I got a side of the jjamppong soup (no noodles) and just added some of the jajangmyun noodles untouched by sauce. Like a jjamjjammyun. The reason I didn't give this four stars is because the sweet and sour pork had too much soggy batter and no crunch. It deflated on bite. We already got sauce on the side, too. Parking lot is blocked on one side so if you're coming from the direction across the street, just be aware.

This is pretty much Korean fast food here and I love it. Service has always been great and very quick. The inside is clean and spacious. I will say the hours are weird...wish they could stay open later since they close for a bit in the late afternoon. (If it was open late, you'd find me here more often.) For starters, the jajangmyeon is not the star dish haha. Whatever people say, it ain't great. The black bean flavor isn't strong enough (not salty or sweet enough imo). I'd rather eat instant jajangmyeon tbh. But the jjampping is great haha. Overall noodle texture is perfect and you get a lot of seafood! The garlic soy wings are always fried to perfection and have good flavor. We tried the sweet and sour pork this time which was a 7/10 for me (wasn't crispy and was just chewy....) good flavor though. Either way, I love how quick, easy, and yummy this place is!

Tried the Paik's Noodle in San Carlos and... it was okay! The space is huge with tons of tables, but it was surprisingly empty for dinner time. The food was pretty decent overall, just not as good as I remember from the Santa Clara location. We ordered the jajangmyeon, jjamppong, jajang rice, chili shrimp, and fried chicken. Everything tasted fine, but it didn't have that same "wow" factor; the flavors felt a bit milder and less rich compared to Santa Clara. Still a solid spot if you're craving Korean-Chinese, but I'd probably stick to the Santa Clara branch next time.

Best place to get jjajangmyeon! Their noodles are always cooked perfectly, it has a nice chewy texture and a good bite to it. I got the jjajangmyeon with meat to get more protein and want to note that their jjajangmyeon is on the sweeter side! We also got the jjampong which was just as decorous, the soup had good flavor - I wish there was more seafood but noodles were tasty. Since it was a soup I felt like the noodles were a bit softer in texture.

Jjampong: 2/5 This dish was fishy and slightly spicy, no other flavor here. If only they put more spice, then the fishiness would have lessened. Jajangmyeon: 3/5 this was okay. Wasn't a fan of the tough noodle texture though. Spicy chicken: 3.5/5 Not bad. Tender chicken and batter was decent.

The papaya salad was well put together and nicely made. I am a sucker for papaya salad in general. The pan fried Pork Buns were my favorite thing I had. They perfectly cooked them and had plenty of "juice" in them. I've gotten better and being patient and waiting for them to cool down a bit so I don't burn my face off. Haha The potstickers were pretty good. I really appreciated the crisp sides that helped hold their structure together. The XLB also were made well. I felt like they had plenty of soup in them. First taste is always the broth and it was good but not the best I ever had. It was lacking more depth of flavor in the broth. There was only one spice level and while it was mild for me, could be a little spicy for others but nothing to worry about. The dry spice from the popcorn chicken definitely hits if you inhale it so be careful and it did make me break out into a mild sweat but it was ok.

Some personal thoughts: If you want something light, or try to order for the elders, wagyu aburasoba is a better choice, since the meat is more lean and yogurt sauce help balance the richness. Homura aburasoba is also great, but minced pork is a bit fatty, and traditional sauce is also rich, so I normally find it hard to finish a bowl because I'm too full. Nevertheless, I don't say it's not great, do not order. My order was Soboro Aburasoba noodles with green onions and ground chicken. I substituted the raw for a poached egg. First off, these noodles have no soup. You mix up the egg with the melange of ingredients resulting in a pasta sauce of sorts. My dish was sweet since the ground chicken seems to have been cooked in a teriyaki-type sauce. After a few bites, I added in some sesame seeds and garlic seasoning. After a little more time, I added in some vinegar - this helped balance the flavor more. For me, this dish was disappointing. The noodles were okay. But after half a bowl, the dish was really boring. It's like eating a big bowl of pasta Bolognese. A few bites if the same flavor and I wanted to have something else. The service was so-so. I was not offered the free tea (unlike my neighbors who were both males). I had to ask for it. At the end, I had to flag a server for my bill. The food here at Kajiken is not inexpensive. The line must be due to the dishes being different from traditional ramen with soup. But for me, I will likely stay on the savory ramen-with-soup-fan side rather be a sweet-dry-noodle fan side.

Cheesy, tender, egg fried rice was flavorful. Portion kinda small, as the dish was very shallow. Not a lot of rice. Kinda off tho when it was the first dish that arrived to the table and it was lukewarm. I find a baked dish is typically always last since it needs time to bake, and is served scalding hot imo. That's when you know it's done right. This wasn't that. Suss The baked pork chop with cheese and tomato sauce was so disappointing and super greasy/heavy. The meat was chewy and had an unpleasant flavor. The tomato sauce was not good either. The shrimp wonton noodle soup I sadly cannot recommend, the filling was not good. Had more pork than shrimp consistency. I did not enjoy the flavor. Not aromatic. I will say, the noodles were great quality. Thin, bouncy, correct texture. What you would hope for. The soup was not good. The roast duck was good, with tender meat and fatty skin. Flavorful with the plum sauce. The fish congee was good, though a bit too runny imo once cooled down. There were only 3 other tables…read more - Green onion pancake - Pan-fried Chinese chives box - Hunan shredded pork in spicy sauce - Kung Pao chicken & rice in a bamboo basket (served with an egg roll and hot & sour soup) - Fried rice cake w/ ji cai & pork I didn't care for the green onion pancake or the chives box. The green onion pancake was deep fried, so it lacked the flaky texture I expected. I was disappointed. The crust of the chives box was similar to the green onion pancake (seemed deep fried rather than pan-fried). The filling was tasty although I wish there was more. I really like their Hunan shredded pork and their fried rice cake. Those are my go-to dishes. Food arrived quickly. Plenty of leftovers for dinner. $25 minimum to use credit card.

Came here with some friends after a morning walk. Wanted to try some sour pickle fish soup thst I…read morehad seen in NY but didn't have a chance to try. The place looks tiny on the outside but has a decent amount of seating. It's kind of your hole in the wall greasy spoon type of place but the people are nice and the portions are good! We had XLB, a sour pickled fish soup and a rice cake with pork and sour pickles. Okay, sour pickles sound gross but really, it's kinda sweet and the hubs loves it but never knows how to order it when we go out. XLB 5/5: Okay, this could be my go to XLB spot but it's not as close as I like. The dumplings were juicy and perfect pop in your mouth size. Can't beat the 7.95 price for 8! Fish soup with chopped pickled greens casserole 5/5: A large portion of soup and lots of pieces of fish. The tanginess of the pickled mustard is a surprisingly good kick. Nice and warm on a cold day. Rice noodles with pork and pickled greens 4/5: Not my favorite dish but done well with the rice noodles nice and chewy. Plenty of sliced pork and good amount of the picked greens. Overall a great hidden spot to get some good home cooking. The reason it's 4 stars is cuz of the greasy hole in the wall feel but hey, if it keeps the prices down then I'm fine with in. I plan to come back with the hubs to check out more of their menu!

Service is quick and efficient. Restaurant is always busy when I go in so I always call in my order and pick up/eat at home. Clean restaurant every time I visit! We loved the pan fried dumplings cuz they used to be so juicy when you bit into them the juice would just squirt out and splash the person sitting across from you but this time the meat was tiny and not juicy at all! The bun was crispy but compare to before...2/5. If you've never had it when it was awesome, maybe a 3/5. Chicken cutlet on noodle 3/5: The noodle was a bit dry but the cutlet was good. Again, used to be better. Beef wrap 4/5: Actually I didn't eat this but hubs and DIL did and they both liked it. looked like a lot of beef but the end piece was a little skimpy. The service was great, the lady refilled our water and she was nice. It's still a tiny hole in the wall type place but down to earth. we'll prolly try one more time and see how it goes.
