The items are over-priced and the staff are rude as hell. I stopped by this store to pick up some ice cream for the kids. When I got to the check out, the bagging clerk asked if I wanted him to bag my items, and I took him up on his offer and handed him my grocery bags. The checker name Danny asked him what he was doing and the bagging clerk told him that he was looking for gloves. The checker rudely ignored the fact that I'm standing in front of him and told the bagger "I would just tell him I can't bag it." I was perfectly fine with bagging myself. I have a couple of issues with that. First, they asked and I took their offer. Second, if the fat rude checker had something to say I was right in front of him. Address me with your problem. Don't act like I don't exist. I was not going to allow him to be disrespectful to me for spending my money there. I promptly checked him. Bottomline, they are over-priced and rude. There's a new Mango Habanero Chicken Sandwich out in the Deli department.  I had one made by Sebastian.  He asked me what I wanted on my sandwich.  He even convinced me to get one pickle.  He made sure the chicken breast was warmed up to the right temperature so I was not eating any raw meat.   The habanero sauce kicked me in the mouth with the spiciness, but it was not too bad because I drank some water and I was fine.  I am not too into spicy food, but I would recommend getting the new chicken sandwich.  Yum yum! It is fresh to order, so just go ask one of the deli associates to make you one the next time you are shopping. read more

Normally I like going to this grocery store however it's gone downhill! I ask for help finding things and the employees were rude! Passing me around from one to another, "hey! Show her where that thing is!" Finally one guy said "we don't carry that here" even though it was an item I showed him on the Vons app! My humans complain that Vons is really overpriced and the selection is lousy. They said that Vons mostly carries generic items but charges expensive name brand prices. The selection also seems random with totally different items from one week to the next. It's like an outlet version of a grocery store. You can drive a few more minutes north to Superior for the same exact items for about a quarter of the price. I give Vons three stars for the beef soup bones my humans bring home for me. They're a nice size and packaged up so when I'm a good pupper they take one out of the freezer for me to chew. When my friend Zeppelin comes over (she's the German Shepherd across the street) I always share my soup bones with her. It makes her really happy. She's a big eater. read more

I thought everywhere lifted that "only allow to buy 2" rules for awhile. My parents can't go out for grocery I am their delivery boy. Yesterday I got a full cart of grocery meat items was in 3 (1 for parents 2 for myself) as soon as the middle age lady cashier saw it she said everybody only allow to buy 2 meat items. I said l m getting it for my parents too what about separate check out. She kept saying No No No can't do it. Your average Vons. Its probably one of the worst I have been in California. It has that same vibe as Vons in Vegas. It looks shady and sort of dark inside compared to other locations. Parking is plenty since the plaza is huge but just dont expect to park close to the market. Just park whenever and walk there because that can save you lots of time. I dont know why most of the Vons always have one entrance open. I am not sure if they do that when its close to closing time or all day though. Probably closing time I figure. This Vons has been around for quite some time, and the local neighborhood has built trust in this business. I've personally had good experiences at this Vons market, and I would say the quality of ingredients offered at this Vons is on par if not superior to other local grocery stores. The staff are friendly (if you test them with respect, of course), the cashiers are quick (however at times slow service is due to lack of staff not staff incompetency), and there is also a Starbucks inside this Vons! The only issue I have is that the plaza where this Vons is located is not the safest place, especially at nighttime. Stay safe! read more

As others have noted, the store itself is fine as it's probably no different from most Vons. It's stocked well enough and clean well enough. Nothing spectacular or different from other Vons that I have visited, but the staff here are constantly surly or at least appear unhappy and unfriendly. Never a "thank you" as other yelpers have noted and usually never a smile. Just go in, get your business done, and leave. I personally prefer not to go to this supermarket due to the staff, but will since it's the only non-Asian supermarket near me. read more

Rude kid cashier charged me for something I didn't buy. Your cashier today was Dominic. Doesn't offer to bag my items either. Gives me attitude and goes through all my groceries as if I'm a thief when I came back and demanded my refund. My shopping cart also locks up when I walk back out, I ask them for help, asked them why my cart locked up, they say it's because "you walked back inside and back out" offers no help, so I had to carry my groceries back to my car. FUCKING RUDE, it wasn't just Dominic either, it was a different woman I asked. Obviously leaving these reviews isn't enough to get them to fix their problems.... I just read another review claiming he was overcharged as well... is VONS the actual THIEF here or what? What the hell is this? I never have these problems when I go to other places like trader joes. I guess hacienda heights is just not what it used to be... I've been coming to this Vons for over 30 years you know... It's changed, a lot.... And I doubt it's ever going to change back. The aisles were clean, well organized, and well stocked. However they didn't have any self-check out lines. It would seem that some super markets have phased them out. After Ralph's closed down a long time ago.. And Alberton's is gone, too.. Vons has been my go-to grocery store now. Little perks/peeves: 1. A lot of people shop here, so parking lot is usually very, very crowded. You can find a spot far away, and pick up a cart on the way toward Vons. 2. Turning into entrance behind Taco Bell/Vons corner, you can't go straight and then turn right into Von's parking lot. You have to go left, then turn right because it's a one way street. I find that annoying. 3. Handy wipes for your convenience by the sliding automatic doors on either side of the store. 4. Bakery to the right, Starbucks in the middle, garden on the left. 5. Clerks are usually very friendly, but not the ones inside the Starbucks. Stay away!! (See separate Starbucks review) 6. Remember to bring your own grocery bag! But the nice gentlemen will usually ask if you need assistance :) The only other grocery stores nearby are probably Fresco (on Gale) and 99 Ranch (off Colima/Azusa).. read more

UPDATE Since my last posting, I have visited this location a few more times, and I must say there has been a great improvement. While the parking lot is still ridiculous, the overall experience and atmosphere has drastically changed for the best. I have also taken use of the Just For U program and that has really saved some $$ for my household. However, I can see how it can be confusing for many folks, especially those who are not tech savvy. The checkers and baggers at the front and service clerks at the deli and bakery are still friendly and helpful. The food was more expensive than in Whole Foods. Five dollars for a small honeydew? Sprouts was selling them for 3 dollars each, Food 4 Less for 2 dollars each. They weren't even organic. All the prices were higher than other stores for the same quality. They did not have anything special. I've been shopping here for over ten years . My favorite thing to buy here are flowers. Donna, in the floral department makes the most beautiful arrangements. I call and tell her the occasion, type of flowers/color and price budget and Donna does her magic. The price of the the floral arrangements is not cheap here but they are definitely lower than the nearby floral shop. read more
