I absolutely love shopping at Trader Joe's. Unfortunately, I don't shop here often since it's quite a drive. So, it was a treat to shop here today since we were in the area. They have such a wide variety of groceries, produce, snacks and sweets, wine and liquor, and more!

A snack fit for only a mouse. Not worth the price, it looks like a costco sample of noodles. The instant Ramen Soup cup

The amount of noodles given in this Instant Ramen Soup cup of noodles cup is criminallll for the price. Not even a baby will be full after this.

proof of the cheese i purchased off of the shelf on 3/20 that expired a week before on 3/14.

i want to start off by saying this is a great store with amazing customer service! unfortunately, as much as i love the store and plan on returning soon, ive had multiple experiences buying past date food from the shelves. first was bread which was disappointingly hard but at least somewhat edible, second was baby cucumbers that were 4 days past the expiration date and extremely dried out and slimey, and the condition of them was unable to be checked because they came in a bag. third happened today, 3/20, i bought a pack of the mozzarella snack balls that are dated 3/14, again another expiration date i couldn't see until i opened the package. but really, 6 days past the expiration and still on the shelves? is there any food inspection or date checking done here? personally i don't like to buy food close to the expiration date, let alone almost a full week after. it's gotten to a point where nearly everytime i come here im purchasing something thats beyond expired. it's disgusting and disappointing especially considering how difficult it is to even shop at the store, i don't want to drive all the way back and fight for a parking spot just for a refund because my mozzarella cheese was 6 days expired, it should've been off the shelf to begin with. if there were another trader joe's closer i would definitely give them business instead.

Can't wait to try these (5/1/22)

Trader Joe's in Whittier, CA, doesn't really need another glowing review, but I like to give credit when it's due. My intentions weren't set on going here at all. In fact, I forgot what existed in this area. We had just exited the Hallmark shop in the same plaza on 5/1/22. My girls didn't want to go inside, but now they're happy we did. TJ's always has affordable, good snacks. This go-round we tried: + giant Peruvian Inca corn snacks ($1.99) + organic blue corn tortilla chips ($3.79) + peanut butter "Puffins" corn puffs cereal ($4.29) I also tried a very decent bottle of "Kentucky Best" bourbon whiskey ($13.99). All for just over $25 during some serious inflation headed-for-a-recession too. The employees were friendly with a sense of humor. The store was clean & organized. Ample free parking.

Ask the Community - Trader Joe's

Do they sell dairy free cheese?

    Yes

Do they sell organic cucumbers and organic cerlery?

I went a few months back and yes to both. They do change out items at times so I'm not sure if they still have them as I haven't got them since but I wouldn't see why they wouldn't.

Do you carry Lurpak Butter Slightly Salted Spreadable, any size?

The sambal chili aioli was a sleeper - it packed in a ton of unexpected spice. Deliciously unexpected. The thick toasted brioche bun also added a layer of sweetness. We ordered the turkey BLT because it was a special. It was, of course, delish, but I should have kept to the tried and trues. I'll definitely be back. Also PSA and order your sandwiches for pickup. We waited for quite a bit in the heat even though we visited at an off hour (on a Sunday). Also, there's a nearby park closer to Uptown you can enjoy your sandwiches.

Unfortunately, that experience has completely changed. Every single time I come in now, the only thing open is self-checkout. If I wanted to scan and bag all my own groceries, I could go to Food 4 Less or ALDI and save money while doing it myself. The whole reason many of us shop here is because we expect better service. It's incredibly frustrating to spend premium grocery prices and still have to do the work ourselves. On top of that, bagging groceries properly actually matters -- especially when buying produce, eggs, meat, or fragile items. Employees who are trained to bag groceries make a difference, and it's disappointing that customer service seems to be disappearing completely. I understand stores are trying to cut costs, but eliminating staffed checkout lanes is hurting the customer experience. Long-time customers notice the difference, and it honestly makes me question why I should continue shopping here instead of going somewhere cheaper. I really hope management starts valuing customer service again and keeps actual checkout lanes open consistently.
