I don't know who would go to this store. Oh ya, aging, overweight soccer moms. The staff are very cold here as others have said. It was my first time in a Vons. The prices were ridiculous. The food was more expensive than in Whole Foods. Five dollars for a small honeydew? Sprouts was selling them for 3 dollars each, Food 4 Less for 2 dollars each. They weren't even organic. All the prices were higher than other stores for the same quality. They did not have anything special. Their baked goods (particularly the bagels) are of very low quality, what you would expect in a Wal-Mart. read more

I've been shopping here for over ten years . My favorite thing to buy here are flowers. Donna, in the floral department makes the most beautiful arrangements. I call and tell her the occasion, type of flowers/color and price budget and Donna does her magic. Everything you need here at Vons. Groceries all lined up meticulously neat and easy to find what you need. They have a great deli and the chicken is so good. I love their clam chowder soup. The bakery has so many varieties of muffins, cookies, cupcakes and fresh danishes. They got bread for days, all kinds of French bread all freshly baked. I read other reviews of this Von's where people got ripped off and you can add my name to the list. General Mills cereal was on sale, according to the bright yellow tag below each item. But only if you bought two items. Cool. Since mix and match was allowed, I tried to purchase two different General Mills brands...but that didn't work. I was charged full price on one of them, and since the other item was now a single item I was going to have to pay full price on that one too. I opted for a second box of the second brand just to get the sale. After making the purchase I went back and checked the yellow tag. I had the right cereal (despite the checker telling me that I didn't) but the only problem was the the sale was for the 19.3 ounce box. But guess what? They didn't have a 19.3 ounce box, nor was there room for one on the shelf. It was either 12 ounces or 16.8 ounces. Brand 2, which I did get the discount on, was the "Family Size." Brand 1 (no discount) was also the "Family Size". So it seems that Vons will throw these yellow tags on the shelf at random, not even making sure that the product/size are accurate. Of course, most unsuspecting customers won't notice and pay the extra money. Those who do notice will get talked down to by the smirky employee at the checkstand. This Vons is absolutely horrible. Go to the Walmart a few miles away or drive over the hill to Whittier, where you will find a better Vons or a friendlier Ralphs. The extra drive will be worth it. read more

This place is so unsanitary. The guy cutting my turkey breast in deli was picking it from where the scraps were and was trying to bag it and give it to me. Called him out on it and he kept on going! I was in here last night, 7/31/17. I got some items in the grocery section. A lot of items were missing from the refrigerated shelf space. It made me wonder if the store was going out of business since the shelves were so empty. I then realized that they were empty most likely due to either lazy workers not stocking he shelves or poor inventory management with ordering from the vendors. In any case, a disappointing visit to the store. After grabbing some items, I went over to the deli section. There was only one red-headed guy in his 20's behind the counter. I was standing right next to the customer he was finishing up with. It would have been impossible for him not to see me. After he he finished with the lady, he turned his back to me and started slicing meat with the meat cutter. I was still standing there waiting to be helped, as he continues to ignore me. Finally, my husband walks up next to me, and this ignorant jerk, asks, "Sir, do you need help or are you just looking?" Had my husband not walked up, I would still be standing there waiting on this uneducated racist to help me. We were finally able to get a pound of the kale superfood salad after waiting on this useless employee of Vons. Check out was ok. The cashier was decent. Overall, I'll stick with Sprouts. read more

I just have to vent here...first of all never go to this vons at night...its far too dark and homeless folks are begging for money. Next the staff is warm or cold. Some folks refuse to help all together. I really wish management would at least hold their folks accountable when it comes to service. Is it me or does this Vons always smell like fried chicken. I feel like I can't get away from the smell throughout the store. Other than that it is just like any other Vons, overpriced. I only shop here occasionally because it is so close to home, but do not do my regular grocery shopping here ever, I head down the hill to Aldi. Bakery: 1 Star. The person who helped me spoke to me as if she woke up on the wrong side of the bed or had a bad Thanksgiving! I went to pick up my son's birthday cake and when I looked at my son's cake, her words were: " You almost made me dropped the cake" I did not tugged on the cake or or even move it, I did not realize she had such 'soft' hands. She is about 5 ft 9 inches around 150-170 lbs in her mid 20s to early 30s. To say that she would benefit from Customer Service re-training is an understatement! Thankfully a cashier at Von's was extremely nice and friendly. As a result, I am giving Von's 3 stars! If it was the person from the Bakery, which I came around 1030-1045 this morning, I would have rated Von's as a one star! Not sure why this place gets all the hate, to me it is a typical Vons/Ralphs/Ect for pricing/quality. The workers are just fine, typical underpaid workers who clearly need to deal with Karen allot. If you go later in the day there is usually someone playing guitar or violin in the parking lot. I have never had an issue checking out except during the rush hours, but that is just because everyone needs to go to the market between 3-5 pm... The place is pretty clean, no complaints. The place is open from early 6am to 12pm which makes it super convenient if you need to buy food at any time. This VONS has become also very popular with its Redbox, Flower Shop, and Starbucks located right at the store. The workers are friendly, they can direct you to the right aisles! And lastly, the sanitation of VONS gives it a 5 star rating. Nothing like a clean grocery store with reliable food quality can give you what your stomach desires. read more

Their bakery and lines ruins my experience. Lost my son's Birthday cupcake order and I had to come back at 5am to pickup the following morning. They have also sold me cakes that had spoiled fruit on it. They never open more lines at peak times even after they get too long. I feel lucky that I am blessed to work right next to a supermarket. That being said--this is what I usually buy before and during work. In the morning, I usually buy some type of juice. Then I go back to the office to add chia seeds and this becomes a meal. Oh, sometimes I buy yogurt too! During my lunch break, if I'm super tired I get monsters, or if I want a snack I get cheez itz. Or yogurt, or fruit if it's a really awesome deal. We used to eat in here until they got rid of the tables. Oh, and they also have a good sandwich/soup deal for about $6, I usually get the chicken noodle or jambalaya. They also have boxed salads--my favorite too I sometimes go to the starbucks in here too. Awesome. The only thing that I could give about negative million stars for is the goddamned lines. They always have 2 registers open or something and the lines (i kid you not) can go all the way to the end of an aisle (okay this is an exaggeration). AND THEY MOVE SO SLOW!!!! I mean yea the cashiers are nice and all but SERIOUSLY!!! Since I'm always almost late getting back to the office I get really antsy and impatient and several times I would have to get out of line because I would potentially get back super late. WTH. Seriously! :( So in this case convenience of a von's by my work cannot trump my waiting hours to buy ONE THING. read more

Every time I shop at Vons I have the same experience. -Awesome customer service -super friendly staff, and they are very helpful with whatever I need. My main reason for visiting Vons majority of the time is to purchase flower arrangements. I have shopped at other places and nothing compares to Donna's skills in the floral department! Every time I buy flowers they come from her department and the people that receive them love them!!! Flowers will stay fresh for over a week. Lunch today: Didn't bring lunch and couldn't make it home, so I wanted to pick up a quick sandwich and then do some errands. I skipped out on Subway because there was a line, but at Vons there were 0 customers at the deli, 2 employees, and 5 minutes and still no service... I'm on a limited lunch hour here with things to do! So I skipped out on that and grabbed a cold sandwich and headed for.. yup you got it. A long line at the Express Checkout which is not very express if you ask me. I was just about to leave when the nice lady ahead of me let me go first, which is like the second time that's happened to me here! It's great that the customers that shop here have such compassion, I just wish the management would too and open more lines! This has been my neighborhood store for years. The produce is always the best quality and the produce guys are very helpful with helping you pick a good melon. Meat department is always stocked and fresh. Steaks are tender. They have a good sushi counter for a quick grab. I love the floral department. I supplied my own vases and ordered all the flowers for my parents 50th! They came out beautiful. The only downside to this store is the aisle goods. Everything is more expensive. Old saying...you get what you pay for! read more

5am to 1am are the actual store hours ! , its posted outside also. It has a florist section in here with balloons too , I believe the prices are moderate. It's very clean and organized , they have a Starbucks here and it gets busy and Starbucks hours are different then the store hours , also the drinks aren't as good either. The baristas aren't always friendly , so I haven't bought a Starbucks drink from here for over 2 years now. They have a great range of deli , bakery good , and hot soups! It's always busy here sometimes the lines are super long including express lanes! If they could fix this situation like get more cashiers ( the more experienced ones) - during rush hours that would give them 5 stars! read more

I stopped in this evening my lovely wife asked me to pick up a few groceries. I Have always come to the store I drive 10 miles round-trip out of my way because of a great selection and excellent staff tonight was an exceptional example of customer treatment. After picking up many snack items I went to the express checkout line which moved extremely fast Natalie help move and process my payment even though I had deleted the Von's app from my iPhoneX. After bagging my items and in conversation I left my phone at the counter. A young man by the name of Dalyn & Natalie rushed to get it to me before I walked out of the store. pre ordered. chicken wings for Ram game, for a 11:30 pick up. upon arriving for pick up, I was informed the wings had not been prepared and she would start the process at 11:30am. 7 happy customers later, and my order finally was ready. yes, I was upset it took longer than the 11:30am order. my big complaint is her whole service manners was C- rating. my speculation was she was definitely a Saints Fan. This is my local Vons, Close by and convenient. Well stocked and friendly crew. Morning to early evening has many check-outs opened, not so much after 8PM. So the lines can build up at later hours. Open till midnight. Can get pretty crazy with beer & booze runs on Fri. & Sat. nights, i've gotten stuck in those liquor lines and i only wanted milk or dog food! So beware those hours unless you are on your way to a party and need booze! Also has a Starbucks inside but they close it a couple hours before the store closes. Lots of parking (usually packed because the busy strip mall) i usually park on the side near Taco Bell. This location has red box in front! Don't forget your reusable bags!! read more

I use this Vons store almost daily. As other reviews have pointed out, it's the only supermarket close by in that location. I have to say from my experience of 9 years or so, I've never had any problems with the staff or the stock levels. Actually, the staff have been amazing in my opinion. Always friendly, helpful and polite. In fact, the cashiers and bagging people are a credit and asset to this store. I have three or four favorites but overall no issues. Yes, sometimes the lines are long and when you use the store on a regular basis, you know which times to avoid. For example, Friday nights when customers are out buying their alcohol. I think the addition of a couple of self-service checkouts would help the pressure cashiers and be useful for customers who wish to get out fast. Presentation of the stock always looks good. I've never used the deli or the meat/ fish counters, so can't comment. For me, the big problem is outside the store. Over the recent years there's a growing number of homeless, and soliciting despite signs everywhere prohibiting it. The plaza itself is dirty. It's always a busy plaza to park. There's no security cameras in the parking lot. The back area of the Vons store has permanent homeless camp. Many times I have seen aggressive behavior from individuals near the store. I don't know why the stores in the plaza don't address these issues, it can be off putting and scary for younger children. read more

My family been going to this grocery store since the 80s. Now that I'm a mom, I can honestly say that I rarely shop there. My go to grocery store is target and walmart. Vons, there items are just over price. Such as the french bread that I bought today, it is 50 something cents more compared to walmart and the mozerella cheese is about 50 cents more. You might think it's just 50 cents, but it adds up!!! Though I do go to vons if I were to find some more specialty items, such as today. Today, I went there because I need to make baked lamb rack and of course walmart and target won't have lamb rack. Therefore I drove another extra 5 mins just to get my lamb rack. So for location and pricing alone, I only shop here no more than 5 times a year. Compare to target and walmart, I go to those places probably at least once a week. read more

This is the only American market left in Hacienda Heights, so there is really no other choice without having to make a drive. The parking here is just terrible. You have to circle around the lot many times just to find a spot. The parking lot is just too small to serve all of the shops and restaurants in this center. The other thing I really hate about this Vons is the long lines to check out. There is never enough registers open. If management actually knew how to run this market, this would be a non-issue. Prices for produce and meat are on the high side except when they are on sale. Best to shop here for sale items. This location does have a Starbucks inside along with a full service floral department, hot deli, and freshly baked bread. The people at the registers are nice though and always ask if you need help out to your car. read more

I just want to share my experience with the checker Joey. When I got in line there was someone just paying and one person in front of me. Joey looked at me, said something to the bagger and then both looked over at the other checker lane, as if I was annoying them. Then he turned off his light. That left only 1 other checker lane open. He does not greet me or anything, no hi, no nothing. I tell him I have 2 milks total, one still in the cart. He says nothing to me the entire time, except if I need bags? The bagger comes back over and he immediately just starts shooting the shit with him. It was like I wasn't there. Joey seemed more interested in otheir conversation and the guy behind me (because the light was off). He's almost done scanning and only scans the milk once. I literally had to say "sir" super loud because he wasn't paying attention to me when twice I said I have two of those, because he was talking to the bagger. At that moment the manager is over telling him to turn his light on. When finished he didn't thank me or anything. As I'm walking out the bagger is running behind me with my box of cereal. They forgot it because their conversation about "college professors" was more important than their job. This is not the type of service I usually get here. Where's Natalie?????Once again, I came here out of convenience, and this is it for me. No matter the hurry I will go somewhere else. This place is just getting worse and worse. read more

The good news is... The place is clean, the cashiers are nice... I've never had an issue finding items. These are the reasons I continue to go back... The staff couldn't be nicer and that's important to me. NOW... Here are my issues with this place... First the parking is the worst ever. What irks me the most is that the employees park right up front and take the spots that should be for the pay customers. If they're there all day long then there should be no reason to take up valuable spaces. Second... The lines inside are dreadful. You have no idea how many times I've run in to buy a bag of dog food and I have had to wait for 20 minutes because they only had ONE line open. When it's their peak hours, sometimes they only have 2 lines!! Third... So many times I've bought Strawberries or Blueberries and half of them have been moldy. All of these problems can be fixed... It seems the new manager knows this and is taking full advantage of it as the shelves are constantly under stocked and there are no employees anywhere on the aisles to help you.
