a wedding cake with a slice taken out of it
    Nikki G.

To start, I'm not a usual shopper of Vons because I don't live in Cali, and this review is strictly regarding the bakery. I recently got married in the area of this store, and we were not looking to spend hundreds on a wedding cake. We had a small wedding too. But anyway, I've tried lots of wedding cakes and they usually aren't even that amazing but you pay a premium for them! Two days before our wedding, we came to this bakery and put in an order for a custom cake. We asked for a double-layer cake with fresh strawberry filling (as you can see in the photo). We asked that the cake be all white with white roses on top. We never did specifically tell them it was for a wedding, and I tried to first order online, however, we couldn't find an option online that clearly said the icing would be white. It instead gave color choices, so I'm glad we went in person to order. Anyway, the cake came out beautiful! And it was delicious too! We added our own cake topper. My husband said this cake was about $18. $18 for a wedding cake! Without a doubt, if you want to save money on your wedding but also get a decent cake, just go to Vons! We were thinking of Costco too, but I don't think Costco offered fillings to add inside the cake.

Subject: Inexcusable Customer Service at Vons Westlake Village - Immediate Action Required Today's experience at Vons in Westlake Village was a disgrace, and it's left me questioning why I should ever shop here again. I'm a veteran, a former a reserve who has served the public, and a loyal customer of Vons for over eight years. My wife, who usually handles the shopping, was unwell, so I went to the store myself. At the self-checkout, I was simply trying to use a digital coupon through the Vons app, and due to my bad eyesight, I had trouble getting it to work. I asked the employee for assistance. What followed was a level of disrespect I never expected from a store I've frequented for years. Instead of helping, this employee was rude, dismissive, and more interested in chatting with her friends than assisting a paying customer. She flatly refused to help me and claimed I'd have to pay full price, without making any attempt to resolve the issue. All this over a minor digital coupon. After I escalated the situation and requested to speak to a manager, she somehow found the ability to assist. Clearly, her initial refusal was out of laziness, and she had no regard for customer service. This isn't a one-off issue. This is the type of toxic behavior that goes on day after day, and it's a reflection of management allowing it to persist. Let me make this clear: this employee should be terminated. There's no place in any business for someone who goes out of their way to make a customer feel disrespected, particularly a loyal one who simply asked for help. She expected me to continue fumbling with my phone with my shaking hands after I'd politely asked for assistance, all while knowing a simple keystroke on her end could resolve the problem. And it's not just her. The manager was no better, giving me a half-hearted nod just to avoid a larger scene, rather than addressing the actual problem. As someone who's owned businesses, I would never tolerate an employee like this. The issue here isn't just poor service--it's a systemic problem, and it starts at the top. Vons needs to take this seriously, or they'll continue losing loyal customers. I'll be contacting corporate directly to ensure this issue is addressed. Until then, my family and I will no longer be shopping at Vons. Vons, clean house--or lose your customers.

Huge shout out to Raelynn in the floral dept here! She is extremely talented, very consumer oriented and an all around wonderful person. Vons, you are super lucky to have her on your team! Thank you Raelynn for all of your expertise today!

When I made a complaint about it, they then really created a nightmare when I would pull into the parking lot. The app would suddenly stop working so when I would pull into a parking space it would not allow me to check in and put the space number. I would then have to get out of my car go into the store and ask for my order. This would create complete chaos because number one employees are rude in the store number two if there are other parking people in the spaces, they will give them all their orders ahead of me so I will wait for approximately 20 to 40 minutes in a hot car for my order to be brought out on top of it. I'm delivered a ton of attitude. The app is a nightmare. The associates are a nightmare just skip it all together. I'm switching over to target where employees are happy and kind and the app works.

He brought home a wrapped piece of cornbread, a pound container of vegetable chili, and a tiny lemon bar slice. For $15. What?! He reported that service was good. And the presentation for the little lemon bar in a fancy bakery box was lovely. My sticker shock had me questioning take out as a concept. Their soups are priced at $7.99 a pound, which seems on the high side. The soup was tasty, if a bit spicier than I expected. I did enjoy the beans included with the vegetables for added body and flavor. For me, the cornbread was too dry and flaky to be fully enjoyable. That was the least favorite of the items for my eating experience. Crumbs were flying everywhere as I tried to eat it. The lemon bar was overly petite for $5, in my humble opinion. It was very tasty, and not too sweet. The texture was on the dense side. My preference is a little lighter & fluffier. Overall, I appreciated that DH was searching for softer items I could eat while going through my dental issues. The cost seemed high for a meal that I mostly enjoyed, but didn't send my tastebuds to a heavenly place.
