The worst most worst rude un-caring customer service I've ever dealt with. I went to pick up my grandson's cakes for my daughter. She wanted to take a look at them so I wanted to take a picture to send to my daughter to make sure they looked the way they should before paying for them. These so called Baker's at Vons went out of their way not to let me take a picture until I got them in my shopping basket and was able to open the box up myself to take a picture to send to my daughter. I still cannot figure out why they did not me take a picture before they even boxed them when they first brought them out. Just what I thought, completely made wrong. Taking pictures and sending them to my daughter the women standing behind the counter laughing like a bunch of hyenas was so Unprofessional and complete poor customer service. There was no reason for these ladies not to let me take a picture and stop being so defensive so I could send them to my daughter so she could make sure they were made correct just in case something had to be fixed. I've actually have no serious beefs with this particular Vons. The only time I had an issue is when they had some oil spill down the aisle and I didn't see it. I fell on my neck but thankfully was not injured. The manager named Toni who is not there anymore help me in gave me the number to call for the incident report. Other than that everything seems fine. There's a cart Pusher there an older man who works his tail off and doesn't say a word and seems to take a lot of ridicule from the younger employees. I feel bad for the poor guy. One time he had a roll full of carts and it was stuck under a sign and he couldn't get it out, so I personally helped him free his row of carts. The younger male employee was laughing at him. I told the manager and he understood. There's a cashier here, who always smiles and it's always nice to everyone. Her name is Antoinette, has a great laugh an awesome smile and seem to be always happy. Either she puts on a good front or she's genuinely a happy person. Either way it's perfect for retail. She's not the only one there are others there that enjoy their job. So all in all I do most of my shopping there and I seem to have no issues. Although I don't go to the deli or the meat department or anywhere else but the sales floor. Keep up the good work. read more

This is the nicest location that I think I have ever been to. The staff is always friendly, and they remember their frequent customers. I go into this location once or twice a week and buy nearly all of the manager special steaks and every time that I shave shopped here has been a pleasant one. Today is my daughters birthday and there is only one cake she wanted and that was the Cinderella dress cake, vons typically needs 1-2 days for a cake order but today I stressed how important it was for me to have that cake for my daughter. I got lucky because they only had ONE Cinderella Barbie left and they also started the cake for me and told me to pick it up at 3pm. Bring a flashlight! In their efforts to be green they seemed to have turned off half the lights and the lights in the freezers seem to be on energy save mode. This is a nice store, great selection but that is all moot when you can't read the labels or feel sleepy in there! Attention management, not all your customers have 20:20 vision! read more

I have never written a review on a grocery store before, but today I am compelled to do so given the complete void of customer service at this market. There were uniformed employees all over the place, all working busily on their little projects. Since this was my first visit, I was having to do a lot of hunting. Despite the fact that I was obviously having a hard time finding my items, not a single person offered to help me. In fact they make it a point not to make eye contact. What is worse, they think nothing of stepping in front of you to get to what they need....I actually felt like I was in the way. Two of the items I was looking for were not on the shelves.....just a price sign and an empty space. I am giving one star for location. This is THE WORST experience I've ever had at a VONS. I'll drive a little further and go elsewhere. By the way, the icing on the cake was putting my fresh flowers bloom-side-down in the bag.....(to busy talking to pay attention). Very disappointed...placed an order on Monday for pickup...the 1st available time was Friday at 11 am which I picked....during the week I added items to my hopeful list. Around noon today I went to edit my list again to find out my "cart is empty", yet it still showed my list as pending. I thought there was something wrong with the website as I had no email to cause me to think anything different. A few hours later I called to learn that the store has halted all pickup/delivery services...headquarters was to have sent out email which obviously wasn't done. After posting this fact on Lomita's FB page, I found out that someone who had scheduled a pickup for last Monday (the same day I made my order) order had been cancelled as well. WHY was the website allowing orders to be placed? Lousy customer service. Granted this situation is new to everyone, but I don't understand why a huge chain can't think of common courtesy to their consumers. read more

located in the torrance crossroads plaza (same place as the Home Depot), this market is very well maintained. everything is organized and clean. when walking in, the lights are dimmed in a welcoming way (not like bright fluorescent lights at Costco) and all the produce are fresh and they have a huge variety! everything is always stocked up and they have an aisle of magazines too. They have Panda Express, a deli, bakery, Starbucks, a bank, a florist, and Netflix. Parking is convenient because they have a huge parking lot (shared with other stores). and their grocery reciept provides coupons on the back! read more

I wish there was some other alternative - they are the closest market to where I live. WHole foods is further away so I keep going back out of convenience when I just need groceries and not protein/produce. THey have virtually no organic/free range/sustainable protein of any kind, I can no longer shop there for meats/fish as a result. The quality of their produce is awful as well. Today at the produce department I had to dig thru 10 containers of raspberries to find one that was not moldy - and I had to pay $3 "on sale" when I heard Ralphs has them on sale for $1. THen I went to get a pineapple and had to dig thru giant swarms of fruit flies (Over 100) to get one. Gross! FInally, I needed some nuts and saw a bunch of flies in the glass case. I was so repulsed I went to speak to the store manager, and dropped the phrase "health code violation" but he was apathetic to the point of rudeness. THen I went to checkout and they started soliciting me to donate money to the latest charity du jour. I put my credit card in and realized they were soliciting me again and had to quickly hit cancel to not donate. I HATE this place. read more

This grocery store is very close to both my home and work so I want to shop here but they make it too hard for me to excuse their shortcomings. First, the smell from the seafood department sometimes reaches to the front of the store it is so strong, so much so that I have NEVER bought seafood there. That aside the store has several times now had specials posted that they won't honor. It seems that the bait and switch is not a foreign concept to them. My latest instance was last Friday when they had a sign for Oscar Mayer Bacon, 1lb for 1.99. I bought 3 of the 1 lb packages. One rang up at 1.99 two at 7.99. The manager on duty, James, was called to the register and explained to me it was only one particular cut because it was expiring. The sign in front of the bacon simply read Oscar Mayer Bacon 1lb 1.99 no qualifiers. I asked to please take a look at his sign, which he did and then got angry with ME and told me I was the only to complain about it all day implying that I was the problem. I just want to buy what was advertised to which I was told by James that he did not have to honor that price as it was an In-store special only......... There so many other grocery stores that are cleaner, that honor their advertised prices without hidden exception and treat their customers respectfully that is just makes no sense to shop here. Oh and one last pet peeve, you can't get in or out of their door without being asked for a handout by random groups nearly every day. read more

I love coming to this Vons. They got a lot of crap! Starbucks, Panda Express, Golden Spoon.... ect. Anyway, I deducted a star for the experience I had this morning. I came in the other day to buy some cases of soda. I got home and realized I picked the wrong flavor on one of them so I took it back to exchange today. The lights at the customer service desk were off so I asked a cashier if there was anyone available. They called someone. a couple minutes later, a lady comes out and just looks at me like "what do you want?". Was she a manager? I dont know. I told her my situation and said ok. .... ok what? Tell me what I need to do! I asked if I should grab the case of soda that I want and bring it back and she said yes. I went and got the one I wanted and went back to the service desk. Where the hell was she? Oh there she is, eating at a table around the side and talking on her cell. She did know I was coming back. I know she saw me standing there. Where do they find these morons? Yes, I said moron. If you are the lady that was supposed to be helping me and you're reading this, YOU SUCK! One of the cashiers saw me and came to the desk to just give me the ok. I use Vons grocery delivery to order my elderly mother's groceries when I do not have the time to go to the store myself. I recently was laid up with the flu for 5 days so I had to order them online through Vons. Grapes were $7.99 for a half a pound, but you can't order a half a pound you have to order one which means one pound. When I went to my grocery store which is Ralphs they were $0.99 a pound. How can they jack the prices up that much and then charge me $12.95 a delivery fee? I think this idea of being able to order groceries and have them delivered especially for aging parents is a great idea. But not when they're going to jack the prices up so high for woman that's on a fixed income, it's ridiculous. I'll have to find another delivery service for those times that I can't get to the market for her myself. read more

vons.com has gone down the drain. I've been working with vons.com for about 2 years now with fairly good results until about May 2011. Now they miss items in the order and today they didn't even come with my order, yet my order history showed that they still billed me for it. I called the store at 310 784 1020 and no one was there to help me. I called them at 877 723 3929 and again, there was no one there to help sort this out. Been going here for 12 years. Many of the employees seem to hate the job. Really bad or no service at all is the norm. One day I asked the manager why and his reply was that the employees are union and can't be fired easy. The meat counter is full of product, but the butchers hide in the back. The deli is full of food but the employees are slow and the service is bad most of the time. I won't tolerate their behavior and have told them the service sucks, they have argued and cussed at me, the small short Hispanic lady with braces in the deli followed me outside to argue with me. They have relatives that work there and you can get bad service from anyone. 3 is a crowd, not at this Vons, you will wait in long lines while the employees' chit chat about stuff. Once I find somewhere else to buy Pepsi and dog food I'll stop using them altogether. It should never take longer to pay than to shop, try walking in for a quick gallon of milk, you could wait in line for 10 minutes because customer service is last on the list of priorities. One good thing, without them I wouldn't know about Trader Joes, better food, cheaper prices, and great service. I once spent $200 per week at this Vons, now I spend it at Trader Joes, this is only because of the employees' attitudes at this Vons was so horrible to deal with, and the manager is weak in stature so he gets walked on. If you desire to get the worst service in the history of Supermarkets then use this Vons. They need to clean house, fire everyone and start over with new managers or it will always be the same failure. If you complain you'll never get an apology from them, you'll get an argument for sure. read more

I can't sleep I'm so pissed we went shopping had some gift cards I need ed to use ... decided to wait till Valentine's Day to use them went there are sales ... went to bed bath and beyond Trader Joe's and big lots knowing that Vons close the latest ...went to Vons .We couldn't go to Vegas this year ....and I got a geat surprise ...We decided we would turn all of our change ( our fun money) in and which by the way I was $243 It took a little bit in the coin star well now we shop and we shop it's almost over but I want edamame but the stocker has his pallet in front of it ... long story .. my wallet is gone ... I realize it in five minutes on the high side ... supervisor on duty Rodney did nothing there were 6 customers at that point in the store watched a shady person Who bought nothing actually walked by us and no security he was not willing to do anything for us. Did we pay our bill of course we did where was the security ?? That man watched that guy walk out ... then told me he didn't have the authority to look at cameras. Ok I'm going to cancel my cards put my groceries will be right back even told the cashier ... as I walked back up he stated that he didn't see anything on the camera again I said oh so does that mean that I have to call the cops to have you be able to look at the cameras he said yes I said OK well let me call them ...he said I will not be here when they get here I said OK can have the name of your manager and your I think that you have an amazing job at doing nothing I hope you lose it ..coincidently he locks the doors as I walked away a young lady walked up to the door she said they still have 10 minutes before they close and then he actually opens the door for her but locked the door in my face and wasn't even willing to wait for the cops ... read more

If you want horrible customer service from extremely rude and dumb people - shop here! I purchased 20 Gatorade G2's today using a rain check for last week's deal of $0.49/bottle. So, with CRV my total should have been $11.80 ($0.49 + $0.10 CRV x 20). I was charged $27.89. If you had any common sense you would know without a machine doing the thinking for you that this wasn't right. The idiot cashier tells me to go to customer service to get it fixed where I am met with an equally inept Von's rep who stares at the receipt for about 5 minutes then gives me a refund of $18 - uh, really? I should have just taken it but gave her back $2 and told her just to keep the change. She had no clue what I was talking about and I wasn't about to waste any more time explaining. Might be time for a career change lady as apparently working at a grocery store is kicking your butt. read more

The pharmacy is an abomination. Poorly run, with an inept system and an apathetic staff. I should have heeded the volumes of negative reviews, but its location was convenient and I hoped they had corrected the years of negative customer experiences. No such luck. First, the record of my prescription could not ne found. Told me to come back tomorrow. Next day, my prescription was found on their system, but they filled it incorrectly and did not have the prescribed quantity in stock. Once again, I was told to come back tomorrow. The excuses they gave were laughable During my first visit, the pharmacist claimed he was the new manager, who was going to correct the problems within the pharmacy. Yet the second time I had a problem, he chose to let his staff handle my comments about the ineptitude, while he chose to remain within earshot, but not get involved. My overview of his performance and empty pledges, can be summed up in one of the anthems of my generation: Meet the new boss....same as the old boss. read more

I go here for most of my non-korean shopping needs. I'd say they have 95% of what I am looking for but the problem is that it takes forever to find it. The problem is that certain items could be categorized in a few different areas. Best thing is to ask, but it always feels like you're almost there. On my lunch break today I stood in line for over 10 minutes to purchase 2 items. For some reason Vons has decide to remove the 4 self-checkouts. The 10 item or less line had at least 8 people in it and the 3 other registers also had long lines. I never had this problem when the self-checkouts were there. Anyway, my lunch break time is valuable and Ralphs on Crenshaw still has there self-checkouts. I hope Vons brings them back. read more

I live by the Vons on Palos Verdes Drive, but I prefer this one for my heavy marketing. They have EVERYTHING and in stock too. The staff is friendly and helpful. Produce is very fresh compared to the one close to me. They even have a Starbucks and an in store Chinese Restaurant. read more

I work down the street, so I come here almost daily for my sandwiches. Their prices are crazy affordable ($5.49) for a fresh made sandwich. They have a program that you get a free one after every so often. They're seriously my favorite sandwiches. On top of that, the deli staff of Renay and Nora (and a few others i can't remember their names) are just top notch. They remember my name, have good talks while they're making the sandwich, and are just always a pleasure to deal with. I can't help but recommend all my friends to this place. read more

Every time that I try to buy the advertised "Signature Chicken Salad" in this store's Deli dept., the Deli mgr. says "don't have today, try again tomorrow." The deli dept drives traffic to a store & I've been getting this "BS story" for 2 weeks running now since 5/7/15!! This condescending answer re: Signature Chicken salad" availability will cause me to stop shopping @ Vons, which is the opposite of what the Deli dept is supposed to do... And P.S.- I know for a fact that Chicken Salad is made from chopped up hot chickens, which this Deli dept carries each & eery day.. I went to buy groceries at this Vons last night. As I was leaving I was collared by one of the security guards and told me to come back inside. They accused me of stealing a Powerade that I paid for. They were very threatening and tried to intimidate me. They forced me into going into a room upstairs, they checked my receipt, cleared me of any wrongdoing. They were very rude and condescending even after they realized their mistake. To make matters worse they realized I was charged for 11 Powerades instead of the 10 I intended to purchase. They didn't offer to let me get my Powerade and they wouldn't let me get a refund either. I spoke to the night supervisor Joseph S. And he told me they do that because it's a "bad neighborhood" despite the fact the city of Torrance is quite affluent. I spoke to the manager Dan Graves this afternoon and he didn't seem concerned at all.. he didn't offer me a refund, a Powerade that I paid for or EVEN AN APOLOGY. ZERO ACCOUNTABILITY! He said that he wasn't responsible for the actions of his security detail because they are contract workers. This is not how you treat customers. Needless to say my family won't be shopping here anymore despite the fact it is the closest grocery store to me. I would suggest others do the same if they don't want to be hassled and embarrassed by their Stasi like security guards. read more

I would give it zero stars if there was that option. I recently purchased a bottle of juice which tasted funny and upset my stomach. I later realized that it was expired. The date on the juice was August 29, 2012 and I purchased it on August 31, 2013. Also their ice cream is often outdated and has freezer burn on the outside of the container. Ordering a cake from this bakery was a nightmare. I placed the order for a 1/2 sheet cake for a surprise work '20th Anniversary' 40 people invited. I asked to pick up the cake at 7:30am the next day. The party was at 8:30am and I arrived at 8:00am. They never checked their orders and had not started the cake. They said only 5 minutes, I believed them because I have watched Costco make cakes quickly. It took over 25 minutes. They were asking me questions about the filling, I guess they still were not reading the order. They put strawberries instead of bananas. I said it was ok but they changed to bananas anyway. All this took time because the fruit was chopped up. Findly I got the cake, they asked me again what I wanted written on the cake and then handed me the cake in the box. I was by then in a big hurry. I got back to work and noticed it said 'Happy 21st instead of 20th. I fixed it the best I could then noticed it said 'Birthday' instead of 'Anniversary'. The party was starting and we had to go with what we had. Very embarrassing for me. I talked to the manager at Vons and he said 'at least you all got a good laugh'. That was not the response I wanted from the manager, but I guess I don't know what I wanted. read more

I came in to the deli on more than one occasion to find that the manager there was very rude to her employees, often arguing in front of customers and when the line at the deli was getting long did nothing to step in to assist the influx of people. I believe her name is Winny or something along those lines. I've been shopping here for months and when I come in and she's there I instantly make my way away from the area. She always has a sour look on her face and when I asked her for assistance before on an occasion she scoffed as I was being such an inconvenience and then yelled for her employee who was assisting another customer already and told me they would be with me. The rest of the store is fine and I find everyone else to be cheerful. But when I go to the deli and she's there it's such a miserable experience and I can tell her own workers are miserable as well because of her. I would love to continue coming in but until she is removed I will have to shop elsewhere! read more
