This is more an overdue shoutout to the employees who work at vons. The selection is like a normal grocery store, I haven't had any issues. The business is as clean as I'd say it can be considering the area and the circumstances. Peter from Pharmacy and who just generally works there is amazing. He's really smart, good working, just like generally uplifting for anyone who gets to know him Jesus and Mark are amazing supervisors and general workers. Jesus is smart, he's charismatic, he's hard working. he moves fast, he's really great. Mark is like a workhorse and just getting to be around him or getting checked out by him is literally a master class on how to treat customers and make them want to come back the next day. There's Maria from bakery whose always really nice and sweet. It's a shame I'm trying to stay away from bakery stuff in general ;-; There's plenty of other employee's names im missing but I think generally speaking I've never had a bad experience at vons because of the people working there, they do everything they can to make me feel happy and welcome walking out read more

The lady in floral here named Robin in Tujunga answers the phone, is kind, and goes out of her way to help. She saved us for our daughter/son-in-law's graduations. She represents the company beautifully! Kudos to her. She should be recognized. On the other hand, the La Crescenta Von's floral and service desk could sure learn from this "excellent customer service" employee. Over at the LC Von's, they are seriously lacking and blame "being busy" on not helping, answering the phone, or answering questions. I spent about 25 minutes calling and got no help. Went to the meat department for the 2nd time at 4:30. Waited 5 minutes, with others waiting for someone to show. Got tired of waiting and left. Grocery Stores are pretty much all the same and you mostly shop close to home and that repetition makes that your preferred destination, but if you look closely, as similar as they all seem, they do have small variations that may be beneficial for some. I live down in Sun Valley, not Sunland, but I do pop down here occasionally for a change of pace and/or the slight variant of selections. I want to thank the manager at this Vons location for offering free COVID-19 vaccines in this time of uncertainty surrounding the availability and financial coverage of the shots. They even had Novavax, which my adult daughter and I both prefer as we've had fewer side effects from it. Some of us have lost more than anyone can ever understand to this horrible, deadly pandemic and I was terrified by the prospect of my daughter and I not being able to get boosters because we're under 65. (Public health shouldn't be used as a political football, but here we are with Bobby Brainworm endangering Americans and disgracing the Kennedy legacy.) I don't think I will ever step foot into this Vons again. It has been a terrible experience almost every time and this is the last straw. I will gladly drive over to the Vons in La Crescenta or shop elsewhere. I was going to grab eggs, and one older male employee was restocking the eggs and as I was going to grab one he acted like I was disturbing him and that I was in HIS way and he was so rude. There's nothing but a bunch of old grouchy workers here that do not make shopping a pleasurable experience. A while back I was checking out and helping bag my groceries when another older male worker bagging the groceries said "I know how to do my job." I was just helping because he was moving very slow. This is about delivery; I haven't been inside this store in about 40 years. I used to be able to order delivery from the La Crescenta store, which was great and is actually closer, but now this is the only Vons that delivers to me. I never order produce because it's usually bruised or already moldy/rotten, but today I ordered apples (I know, stupid me). They put them in the same bag as 3 1-liter bottles of water! Not just bruised, but flattened on one side. Another bag with 1-liter bottles of water contained the deli bag of tortilla chips, which are now broken and crumbled. Duh! And, lastly, a box of *scented* SOS pads was put between a loaf of bread and a bag of flour. Unacceptable! Cleaning products and food should never be in the same bag! read more

Gene At the register is hands-down the best employee I ever came across.He's super friendly and super professional and just last night I purchased some items that I forgot to grab and walked out of the store and Gene ran out of the store with my items to make sure I got them.Staff members like Gene is the reason why I shop here And will continue to shop here. Staff are very nice but seem incredibly overworked. They understaff this store like crazy. Always long lines, cashiers and mangers that just seem burned out. Produce is always going bad within a couple of days. Berries always have mold. Prices are equivalent or higher than higher end stores. I used to come here several times a week, now I shop at Whole Foods in Burbank and pay the same price with better quality organic food. I haven't been here before Albertsons bought them, but every affiliated store I've been to has been the same way. This is what you get with market concentration. Ok I give up. I do not enjoy negative reviews, especially this one. This isn't the first time and based on the comments I hear from shoppers inside the store, it's no one's first time. This Vons is the main grocery store for Tujunga and sadly they are terrible. Used to shop here quite often 20 and 30 yrs ago, but it seems like a lack of leadership has driven the quality of service way down and almost everyone ive spoke too feel the same. I'll just touch on my last visit which is also the last time I'll go in there. Fried chicken, many people get the chicken, especially on Fridays since they have deals. . Friday night 5pm went in for the afore mentioned and no one was working at the hot food section. After a total of 8 people were in line, I went to ask and was immediately met with " you'll have to wait till she's done with lunch". When I asked when that would be I was told, "I don't know, maybe 20 minutes. I asked, is there no one that can assist, to which she said Nope! That was very surprising indeed. I asked why they wouldnt at least post a sign stating as such. The responses to got were disheartening and when I asked if there was a manager or someone to speak to I was told they didn't have one. Sadly this store is known for this. Matter of fact, the only person there that seems to take any pride or care is the regular meat counter employee, Scott I believe. Even with that, many times at this store when he isn't there, you have to go ask someone at the front for service at the meat counter, in the back. It would seem there is always a staffing issue here, which I've never dealt with at numerous other Vons Ive shopped at. Based on these experiences at this store only, I can only surmise its poor management. It is definitely not the cleanest. Last time I looked the restrooms were horrible. It's been a while but I'm afraid to check again. The parking lot and sidewalk look like skid row at times. Not a great area. Even though it is centrally located, it isn't worth the time wasted and frustration to shop here anymore. There's other grocery stores a few miles north and south. The extra 5 minutes driving will save 20 minutes standing in line with only two checkers and dozens of people waiting. Too bad really. read more

This Vons has some of the rudest cashiers!!! Starting with TASHA, apparently she is a manager at this store! I went in today with my husband and kids to get some groceries. My husband came across some beer and it was on sale, but you needed the digital coupon. My husband and I both have the app and the coupons wouldn't appear, we also scanned it and nothing ! I went to go ask for help and the guy said to go to lane 2 and they can honor it if I take a picture of the sign, so I did just that. As soon as I told Tasha the situation she automatically gave me attitude ! She responded with " ThAt MeAns ItS NoT On SaLe" I told her they have a sign on there , how is it not on sale ? She then said I already used it then. I told her I have not used it nor my husband. She claimed many have used that coupon with no problem today. But wait this is what pissed me off !! She told me "you are making it a big deal over beer?" In front of everyone!!!' Made me feel like some kind of alcoholic and I rarely even drink lol And she didn't just tell me once !! In between all that she even said "you can just have it for free" I looked around and said did you guys hear that ,she said I can have it. I walked in at 1:00 p.m. today, Wednesday 2/5. I got everything I needed and proceeded to checkout. Only four automated checkouts with a line running down the aisle. Not 1 check stand was open. No one up front and I asked the very rude girl behind Starbucks counter, who is the only employee I could see, who was texting on her phone as she had no customers, nor working. I asked her if she could call for assistance and she said no!?! I asked her why she wouldn't help and she told me to go find a supervisor. I let her know that I felt she was being rude and unhelpful, and she thanked me for my opinion and informed me if the store would staff properly this wouldn't happen. At that point, I walked away from my full cart and left the store. I am shocked yet not surprised. The employees are usually rude and make it clear you are bothering them, but never to this degree. Worst Vons ever! They only have 1 register open most of time. You stand in line forever!! People keep asking to open another but no one give a darn. This is my favorite Vons by far. Most of the time there isn't too many people so you can be in and out without any distractions or annoyances. The shopping lines are always short as well. There are a vast selection of parking spots too so you'll never have to be waiting to park. The products are excellent everything is new and fresh and it even has a Starbucks inside which is the cherry on top. Highly recommend you give the spicy chicken tenders and wings a shot they're phenomenal! The employees are also very respectful and kind they'll always help you find whatever your looking for. The date was July 17 at about 6:55pm. I was driving by the Vons on Foothill blvd and remembered that I wanted to get a grapefruit, so I stopped by. On the way to the produce section I walked down the frozen aisle and noticed some Marie Callender frozen dinners on sale for $2.99 each. Closer inspection revealed that a "digital coupon" was required and that scanning the barcode with the Vons app was the way to acquire one. I opened the app and scanned the barcode on the shelf tag, the app beeped and pulled up a coupon for strawberries. I scrolled down an item or two but saw no frozen dinners, so I took a photo of the shelf tag to show the cashier and continued to the grapefruits. I was rather taken aback by the price for a grapefruit, $1.79 each, but decided I would buy one anyway. On my way to the register I decided to get a Vons brand flavored bottled water, which were on sale for .49 each-with a digital coupon. When I scanned the shelf tag, the app reported "no item found", so I scanned the item's barcode and again the app said "no item found". I took a photo of the tag and proceeded to the cash registers. I started to go to register #2 and noticed that his light was off. The aproned clerk at register 2 said "There is no waiting on register one, sir", I complied with his request and went to register one. I went to register one and placed my items on the belt, which were then competently (I believed) scanned by Patty. I explained the above to Patty, who responded "Oh, you need a cell phone." I pulled out my phone. "Do you have the right app?" asked the cashier. I pulled up the already opened app. Patty took possession of my phone and scanned the frozen dinners' barcode, to which the strawberries appeared. She then scrolled down at least five swipes and found the coupon. I commented that scanning the barcode of a specific item and getting a plethora of other items ahead of the scanned one made no sense at all, to which Patty responded "That's just the way Vons does it." Then I brought up the sale price of the bottled water, which was ringing up at $1.29 instead of .49. Using my phone, Patty scanned the bottled water and was presented with "item not found". I then acquired my phone and showed her a photo of the shelf tag and she said "Oh I bet it is like the iced tea, where you have to buy a certain amount to get the discount." I said "I am certain that it is not, it is just that your app doesn't work." She asked me if I wanted a bag, and I said "paper." She said "we don't have paper" I said ok. As I left she said "next time remember to get the minimum amount ok?" Instead of arguing with her I went to the shelf and removed the shelf tag (upon which there is no mention of any minimum purchase) and when Patty was done with her present customer I handed her the tag and said "See there is no minimum amount to buy" She says "It is probably like the iced tea..." I thought, "Where is the manager?" I try to not request to see a manager from the person about whom I want to see the manager about, so I looked to see if there was another cashier. There were several but one was wearing a shirt and tie (instead of a polyester Vons smock) so I asked him if I could speak with a manager. He flat out ignored me for at least 45 seconds, while I said "excuse me" every five seconds or so. Mind you, he wasn't busy with something-just staring straight ahead while the customer in front of him wrote out a check. When he finally acknowledged me, I told him I would like to speak to a manager. To which he said "yeah". I said "As soon as you finish up" with the customer he was in the middle of processing. He finished taking payment for the customer and instead of calling for someone to cover his register he steps out of the cashiering area and asks me what the problem is. I notice he has a line of at least 6 customers so I hurriedly explained the issue-throughout which he comments "do you have a phone" or "you probably didn't do it right", almost the same as the cashier had done. I finished up by saying that it was rude to blame your customers for your own systems' faults. He said he'd talk to her about it-maybe someone should talk to him about it - because crappy attitudes roll down hill, as I believe the paraphrased saying goes. To top it off, when I got home there was NO GRAPEFRUIT!!! read more

Terrible service by rude cashier, Aleh. She OVERCHARGED me for Keurig pods even though I questioned when it scanned. Aleh gave me an attitude saying the reduction will come off at the end. It did not come off and she charged me for 3 items when I only bought 2. I went back in the store to get an adjustment. Had to wait in long line again and she was so confused, seemed to accuse me of taking 3 boxes and could not figure out what to do. She asked 2 people for help and was holding up her line. I received an attitude from the people in line and worse from Aleh. It was so uncomfortable and so I asked her to just refund my money. She rudely handed it to me after fudging with her register and cell phone for several minutes and walked away without saying a single word. No apology, no accountability. The courtesy clerk was embarrassed. He apologized for the inconvenience and thanked me for my patience. Aleh needs an attitude adjustment and a customer service class. I called the store to give feedback to manager. I kept getting the run around. Told to call back again to talk To Alex and again told I was being transferred to Julie. I don't shop here if I can help it. Every time I buy milk or dairy from this store it's still got weeks before it expires on the box date but it's always curdled and expired. There's something wrong with the way they manage their refrigerators. The expiration date on the package is still valid but their products are expired. This is the WORST grocery store I have ever patronized. In the last 10 years I have seen employees, including managers, slowing down the cashier via chit chat, cashiers making inappropriate comments about customer purchases, VERY long lines while employees stand around and laugh or talk on their cell phones, employees groping each other: there is even one employee, who appears to be a leader at the store, who just hangs out after his shift and loiters (you know who you are, get a life). Here are some of the pro's -Friendly and helpful staff -They have a variety of products including vegan- hope they add more to their collect, but so far the choices are good. - Produce is fresh- a bit pricy -The have a helpful Pharmacy - The addition of the Quest Lab is great, little to no wait -Friday specials are good Cons - bathrooms can be cleaner, except for the bathroom in the quest lab office, that one is always clean. - Need more cashiers- with Covid we really want to get in and out, waiting in line through aisles having over customer passing right next to you is not allow for safe practice. If i could give ZERO stars i would. I received a frantic call from my daughter (16 years old) a couple of days ago. After calming her down she proceeded to tell me about a nightmare situation that just occured at the VONS store. My daughter entered the store to buy snacks to take with her to school as she does often since her bus stop is right in front of store. After she purchased her items and was leaving the store two plain clothes men grabbed her and attempted to push her outside saying " you have to come with us we caught you stealing" my daughter unaware of the fact that loss prevention exists or that they are not required to be in uniform panicked and ran back into the store (which she deemed to be the safest place- since she was afraid these random men were trying to abduct or rob her). After running back into the store my daughter tried to get away from the two men, all the while they are yelling at her, calling her names and cussing. Finally she figures out what is happening and asks one of the men "Do you want to see my receipt", she shows her receipt to the loss prevention worker and he says "oh you paid for everything you have, let me show my partner" he proceeds to show his partner the receipt and confirm that all items have been purchased and the other man says "get your stupid A$$es to school, get out of this store don't come back or we will call the police" my daughter still upset by what just transpired told the man to "go ahead and call the police, because i did nothing wrong" I called the store to speak with the manager who identified himself as Alex H. and was told "we don't have plain clothes loss prevention in this store". After explaining to entire situation to him, he said he would find out what happened and call me back. (i called him before 9am). Around 2pm i called the store again and asked to speak with Alex for an update. He then tells me that yes there was loss prevention in the store but he could not provide me the companies name, or any contact information. I explained to him that i needed the contact info because my daughter should not have been treated in this manner, she should not have been touched, chased or otherwise. He stated "the loss prevention officers have a very different story of events" I again asked him for contact info so i can discuss with them what happened instead of playing telephone and getting zero to no info/help from the store level. I also asked for the corporate number to vons and the district managers name to which he stated he could not give that information either. Alex recommended that i file a police report so that i could get more info. He also told me he would have someone from loss prevention call me. At 5:07pm, i receive a call from -NO CALLER ID- the man stated he worked for loss prevention company hired by Vons stores but would not give his name or contact information. He stated he is investigating the events that took place at VONS and wanted to reassure me that he was working on it. He said "can i ask you a question?... how old is your daughter?" i let him know my daughter had just turned 16 to which i was met with silence over the phone. after a moment of silence he said " ok im working on this and will call you back" and hung up. There is no circumstance in the world where two adult men hired by such a big grocery store chain be given a pass for physically grabbing and pushing a minor child, especially for a FALSE accusation. SOMEONE needs to protect our children, this store is across the street from a high school! whos to say this won't happen to someone else's child?!?! No one from VONS stores has had the decency to reach out for clarification, apologies, nothing!! Loss prevention is a damn joke!! They are just ego driven wannabe cops! I need answers! read more

I got the fresh pass service to try and it gives a 30 day trial period with a code for $30 off your first pickup order. It was so fast and easy! I got home and was pleasantly surprised how fresh my fruit and vegetables were. I got all my items too. I've done other grocery chain stores and it's been hit and miss. I definitely am very pleased with the quality of my items today. I also do shop inside this store regularly. It is always clean and employees helpful. My only problem was finding a spot to park for pickup. They were all full except one which was leaving as I arrived. read more

Management is not doing a good enough job enforcing the masking requirement. The last four times I've gone in there have been multiple shoppers defiantly not wearing masks despite the requirement being posted on both entrances. Anticipation of poor behavior by customers is no excuse for not enforcing a rule that's in place to protect all shoppers. Lately haven't been able to purchase many items in the Pet food/care area, wines, frozen vegetables and even unsalted peanuts!
