Of all the Vons stores in the area, this is unfortunately my least favorite. Of course it's the one closest to us. Most of the staff are friendly and helpful with the exception of the women with dyed red hair that works in the produce section. She is always in a bad mood and has a major attitude when asked a simple question. The worst part of this Vons is their meat department. I have lived in Anaheim Hills for 20 years and their meat department has always had a bad almost spoiled meat smell. I have no idea if the manager or GM does not have a sense of smell but it is bad enough that my wife and I will literally avoid that section of the store when possible. Not even the bakery's pleasant smells can mask the nasty spoiled fish smell. Visit the Vons in Yorba Linda, west Anaheim Hills, or Orange meat department for a superior experience, better cuts of meat and no foul odor. read more

Vons has been my local grocery store for 30 plus years. Prices are slightly on the high side for mass market grocery stores but not terrible. Vons usually has better quality meats than many other local grocery stores. Weekly sales can bring down the prices to a better level. I also like the service deli for fresh cut sandwich meat and cheese. Bright and well lit stores that are generally quite clean. read more

I always wondered if supermarkets should have baggers if they have no respect for what we are buying. Today we went inside with two reusable bags, one insulated and one non insulated as we were buying some frozen food. The bagger started stuffing the non-insulated bag with frozen pizza boxes. He started stuffing the insulated bag with a bunch of grapes first and started stacking other items on top of the grapes. If I buy anything from anywhere, I want the store to handle items I am buying with care. If they don't train their kids in the bagging area, they will never learn basic skills in life like how to properly handle food. They have nice displays and carry good variety of products. Their deli counter is helpful and clean. The last person to handle your purchase, the bagger, can ruin everything. Look at Trader Joe's. They bag my purchases with care 99% of the time. read more

I love the store, prices, selection, and the checkout is usually very good. I cringe when I have to visit your customer service desk. It is always unmanned and when they see you there, they are not in any hurry to serve you. Today I stood there for at least 5 minutes before Tyler, who had looked at me several times but thought is was more important to shoot the breeze with one of your bagmen. I go there only when they have specials. Otherwise the prices are higher than other stores like Stater Bros. I would not mind the prices if the service was good. But I've found that many of the people who work there aren't very friendly. I have found a few, but each time I go in I have to steel myself for someone who is grouchy or just plain rude. Be careful walking on their floors. I fell twice in their store, first i tripped on the rug that you walk in onto because of a faulty flap. Then i slipped on their floor maybe 40 seconds after the first fall. The case was given to their insurance who made me out to be a liar. Please be careful walking on their floors especially at night. Im extremely disappointed because their insurance offered me 50$ and ive already spent 89$ on a urgent care visit with an unknown amount to paid out of pocket for imaging that has been ordered. Ive been a life long customer and im sad to be treated this way. Please be careful when walking in their store. When the gentleman was bagging my groceries he flipped open the cap of the dish soap - totally on accident. When I got home there was a mess in the bottom of the bag. I had to return to the store and get a replacement. Had another small issue that was completely my fault. Edmon helped straighten out the dish soap spill and my other issue. He was very polite, helpful, and even a good sense of humor over things! He provided outstanding customer service! Vons - you should recognize him for his exceptional customer service! Horrible management that doesn't care about customers. I've had multiple encounters with the male manager with gray hair where he is rude and makes things awkward. He will gladly turn customers away at 9:54 even if you just need to grab one thing like ice. I was out of coffee creamer early this morning so I drove up to my local Vons to pick up some French vanilla creamer. As I walked into the very beautiful store I walked past the freshly made sandwiches in the deli section. Every now and again I get a sandwich to take to work. This am I was looking at all the sandwiches and nothing was getting my attention. All of a sudden the very nice and friendly lady in the deli says to me Miss I just took out a fresh pan roast Turkey. Would you like me to make you a Turkey and pepper Jack cheese sandwich. I was like YES! The food, service and ambiance at this Vons market located at the Eastlake Village shopping center is amazing! Ever since Vons was bought by Albertsons I feel like it's gone down the drain. Vons used to be one of my favorite stores but grocery store quality seems to rise and fall like the tide. Produce and meat here is nothing to write home about either. At least there's not a ton of shoppers here if you are looking for a place less crowded. But they are often out of a lot and their selection is really not all that great. But hey, you can get albertsons products here now like their decent fresh salsa and chips. Yay. If you can afford to skip this place and go to Ralphs, they have been doing great. read more

Superior service and products and not crazy expensive. I stopped here on the way to a family gathering to pick up a bottle of wine. I had no idea what to get for a group setting. Jason spotted me on my wine hunt within minutes, asked a few questions and then helped me choose a prize bottle. A bonus bottle as well. I was so surprised to find a real Somm at Vons. He knows his stuff. I don't live in Yorba Linda but I will come back for all my liquor need. It's awesome to feel confident in my wine choice especially when I am bringing it for family. Yep, nothing is like the old days! Been a customer here for over 30 years, there was a time when the Checkers knew us by name, the deli people made great salads and there was a wine steward named Jan who was a huge help. Once they had fresh breads and the meat department was rival to Stater Brothers. The seafood department was never good.. Now the checkers are rude, they are doing us a favor by taking our money. It's no wonder I use the self-check out whenever possible. On Sunday, September 4, I made a small purchase and checked out with Zander. Not a hello, not a thank you, not a goodbye. I've never been disappointed shopping here so I don't understand the one-star reviews. I don't go here super often but I'll go when I need something for a low price and urgently. They have a huge selection just like Costco (obviously not as much though) and it's a lot less crowded than Costco which is really nice. You won't have to stand in a long line at checkout lol. The thing I like best about this location is the employees. They are always so nice and helpful. This is a review for the person who charged me out, not the store itself. Not once did Edmon say hello or even look me in the eyes. In fact, he seemed angry and annoyed to be there. I was shocked to see the title Supervisor on his name tag. I understand it can be difficult to be nice to random people when you yourself are having a bad day, but that's not the customer's fault. I used to love coming to this store because of their excellent customer service but recently their new hires have been very unprofessional. I went in today and there were three girls, the very friendly young lady that helped bag groceries, thank you btw for actually acknowledging my presence and a girl that was talking to the cashier about how she just got a new job but no one knew as she hadn't told her supervisor. I am frustrated with Von's produce department!! It's never been great, but it continuously gets worse. A couple of years ago, I noticed the bags of onions and potatoes always contained old and rotting onions/potatoes such that the were already rotting the other vegetables. So, we We quit buying bags so that we can specifically select good vegetables. Now, we can't even do that. The onions may look fresh but when I cut into them there is rotting on the inside. ( Same with potatoes). Even when the vegetable seem okay when we get them home, the rot much more quickly than those purchased elsewhere. I was at the .99 store and thought, Lohengrin can these be worse than Vons." The jalapeños, onions, lettuce, etc. lasted more than 3x longer than the same vegetables I purchased at Von's the day prior. These were significantly cheaper at .99 store too. I've mostly quit shopping at Von's but I like their selection non-refrigerated packages and the sales on them. I could buy veggies elsewhere, but I'm usually short on time, plus when my husband is picking up groceries for me, I don't want to further inconvenience him. I've spoken to the Produce Manager on multiple occasions but it only get worse. read more

Vons is nice and clean store. I usually go to Vons for deals on the weekly ad just to find out I've been overcharged. It seems to happen almost every time. The self checkout doesn't help because it is programmed to show the sale price until after the payment is taken. I end up having to get reimbursed however it's a pain and inconvenience. read more

They seem to get upset when you ask to cut meat, or ask if they have anything in the back as far as more meat that they are missing in front, almost as if you are bothering them because now they have to help a customer. 2/5/2023 -- their smoked salmon showed $12.99 but at the register, I was charged $13.99. This is a dollar only, but how many times did I not check my receipt and got ripped off by this store? It's an honest mistake, perhaps, but this store needs to hire better employees who can do the job of entering the correct prices so that they don't end up charging their customers more. I asked the employee there for my money back, and she did not even apologize. She looked like she was pissed off that I caught it! And, these employees demand higher wages! How hard is it to smile? I've been shopping at this Von's for over 20 years. I wanted to email the Store Manager about this issue but could not find a way to do this when reviewing the website. So, I've chosen to put this issue in this review. When I shop, I always bring in more reuseable bags than I think I might need. You would think that would be a good thing for the Von's employees. They don't have to be concerned about not having enough bags to put in the groceries. Almost without exception, the Von's employees that bag the items try to put practically all of my groceries, regardless of the amount I buy, all in one bag; sometimes if I'm lucky two bags (all over-filled). I'm writing this today because it just happened once again and I'm tired of it! I watched the guy do it until I politely asked him not to put everything in one bag. I DON"T GET IT! You would think these baggers were getting their pay deducted for every (customer) bag they use. After I said that when he was almost done, he put a few things in one other bag & asked if I wanted him to transfer items. Too late! The other customer in line was now checking out. I did it myself once again when I got to my car. Mind you I had cans, bottles and other heavier items and he was perfectly content putting it all in one bag. Note that I'm not helpless and can lift bags but I do not want to carry an overly heavy bag to my car and then again into the house. I should not have to watch them to catch them from continually doing this. WHY ARE THEY DOING THIS when I've supplied many bags? These baggers have ONE JOB and that is to bag our groceries. Are they lazy, apathetic, on auto pilot about their jobs? Whatever. This needs to be addressed and Von's employees should be trained and re-trained at this store. Not sure if this is happening in all Von's stores but I typically shop here. We are all paying an inordinate amount of money for groceries these days. If it doesn't change soon, I will go to Stater Bros. and see if their customer service is better. read more

I bought a loaf of bread today that looked like it might have been opened and part of the inner plastic lining was missing. Two weeks ago I bought sour cream that had the seal missing. Unfortunately I did not notice any of this until I was home. If you shop here you need to be diligent in inspecting the products before you put them in your cart as I have also previously purchased a few items that were past the expiration date. read more

We just moved from Fullerton to Yorba Linda a couple of months ago and the vons in question here is only 2 blocks from us, so we thought what the heck we've never shopped at Vons lets give it a try, NEVER again. They don't make eye contact with you and getting help to find something was like pulling teeth from a chicken! We've always shopped at Stater Brothers and we'll drive out of our way and down the hill to the Stater Brothers before going back to that store. The deli gets really crowded around lunch time on the weekends. I really like the fried chicken, eight pieces for $5.99 is a really good deal. I usually get potato salad too. EXPIRED MILK, ROTTEN VEGIS, SPOILED FRUIT available with their delivery service! I've gotten food that had "sell by" days from 4 days ago. I think they save these for suckers like me who bought into "fresh pass" annual memberships. They've got my money so why not make as much profit as possible? I even had to go into the store to get an order that was 3 hours late and never came. I talked to the manager and he said, "it's our delivery service that's to blame" and no refund on my account. I checked and they are still charging me for delivery and driver tip! Called customer service and was on hold for 20 minutes. Today I observed the kindness and consideration of one of the checkers at this store. Ahead of me checking out was an elderly lady having a difficult time using her Vons card and her credit card for her purchases. Maggie was patient, helpful and reassuringly gave the lady support and assistance when needed. Maggie was so kind and this is not the only time that I have seen her patience with one of " her" customers. When I complimented her on her kindness she commented that this was a lovely lady and she added that "I hope that someone helps me when I am older."
