I came to voodoo donuts with my family on a Saturday in January, it was super busy, but that didn't mean the service was slow. They had all the options on their menu available, and it was great to see how they were making them in the kitchen, there's a big glass window where you can see how they are decorating the donuts in the kitchen, which is super cool, I really loved seeing that! Another plus is the donut carousel that they have at all of their locations where they place all of the donuts on their menu and they rotate on this really cool carousel, so you can see everything that they have, to eat. Incredible from the service to the last bite!! I was staying down the street for a work meeting and saw a woman in the elevator with a box and became obsessed at that point with getting there. On our last day I walked down with colleagues and we purchased two dozen of the Voodoo variety boxes amazing with a "specialty" C&B donut (too perverted to spell it out- see pictures) that they decorated specially for me to take it home for my foodie hubby! I am more of a Plane Jane when it comes to donuts and always get a raised glazed. I also bought a buttermilk stick...simply heavenly!!!! Voodo is one of the most overrated dessert spots in SA. I've ordered their donuts about three times myself hoping each time it would be better, but it is simply average. The flavors seem creative, but the taste is pretty dry. When I visited in person the first time, I noticed none of the donuts in the display were labeled. Since I was ordering a large order for work, I asked the cashier to walk me through options. She did about three after she asked "well what is it that do you want". She seemed incredibly annoyed to provide simple service even as I was kind and apologetic for asking so many questions. There was also no other customer at the store when I went at 8am. I would understand her demeanor if they had a line out the door. Ambiance is cute with a little outdoor patio. I'm sure it's great for tourists and anyone casually walking their dog. However, parking is a pain. They should consider opening a curbside option or sharing the area for best parking access. read more

Run, don't walk to Voodoo Donuts!Donuts are fresh, light, HUGE, and delicious. The vibe is GREAT, music was bumping so much that I had to dance a bit in the pay to park, parking lot across the street. However, once we got to the machine to pay and read it was $25 to park I stopped dancing and rethought my decision for Voodoo Donuts. However, when you have a craving you know what you do...pay the $25 bucks and go across the street to stand in line. We have been by a few times since their opening but the line was always too long for us to wait. But after bad donuts from another place, we decided this was our night to wait in line. The wait was not too bad, on the windows they have giant signs with QR codes so you can review the menu while you wait. When we finely got inside, there was only one girl at the counter and I thought we had made a huge mistake, after waiting for a little bit, the line was moving and there was plenty of counter help and staff. Inside was a little dirty, but with the traffic they have been getting I guess you can over look that. The merch area was a complete mess, I thought about buying a cap, but after seeing the mess, I could only wonder how many ppl touched/tried on the caps and decided against it. We ordered the following classic dozen ($19.00) and a La cart Old dirty bastard Maple cream Raised glaze Maple bacon bar Apricot cannolo ( bc they were out of sweet cream) Coffee and hot tea We paid $40.00 and tax But WORTH EVERY PENNY The young girl helping us, behind the counter, mentioned she had stared that day. She was a bit nervous but stayed calm and answered all of our questions. I really think the staff needs some training: I saw staff walk in, with friends, & go behind the counter, fill a pink box with donuts and walk out, I saw another staff member grab a donut off a tray, stick it in their mouth before leaving the back of the counter. I saw a counter girl put her hands on the trash can to move it as they walked to the bake to grab a donut (one of my donuts!!!) I went to the window to watch the manic happen and every thing looked very dirty. Now, to the staff's credit, I'm sure it hard to keep things clean with sooo many ppl coming in. But still....We will go back & the family all agreed everything we tried was excellent. My Mom was visiting for the holidays and she loves donuts. So when I heard of Voodoo's grand opening, I decided that we just must get some for my Mom. I knew the morning of the grand opening was gonna be a hot mess, especially being downtown with nowhere to park. Luckily I was able to preorder them online the night before. I sent my husband for pick up, and he was angrily texting me about the line being wrapped around the building and down the street. But then he said that a girl came out and ushered everyone with preorders inside. The hubs picked up the precious cargo and rushed home, where Mom and I awaiting him with coffee and high expectations. Unfortunately, these donuts didn't meet them. We found them to be very dense and doughy, as well as lacking much flavor. They all actually sort of tasted alike, and came across stale the next morning. I believe our favorite was the holiday peppermint cannoli donut. However, the pumpkin cannoli tasted like it had a teaspoon of canned pumpkin inside...the off brand. Also - the price....waaay too high. I don't mind paying a premium for a quality product, but these didn't hit the mark. I guess you're paying for the whole voodoo gimmick. My husband did say that the store was cute and pink inside. I am glad my Mom got to try them since they don't have them in VA where she lives, but we will not be ordering more. read more

We had bought them for our breakfast on Wednesday morning as we had to be @ the airport before our hotel served breakfast. We should have tried a little bit of them at the time we bought them. My friend and I came here around 1am on a Saturday night. The line was super long, but it's understandable considering the location and time. What was a little bit of a long wait, was easily made up by the customer service. The cashier was so amazing that I wish I got his name to give him a shoutout. He was very helpful, patient, and kind regardless of the hectic environment. I can honestly say that he made our night and boosted the Voodoo experience! I've had better donuts at other Voodoo Donuts locations. This location has no parking and is mainly a tourist destination as it is about 2 blocks from the Alamo. We ordered a variety of donuts that were ok. The cannoli was too big and not the correct texture. The regular and cake donuts were just average. Me and my family came here after lunch one day while visiting San Antonio and we walked in and we were met with a whole bunch of different doughnuts. They aren't just any ordinary doughnuts they are doughnuts with a bunch of stuff on them and a bunch of cool themes. If you see this store and think about buying a doughnut i highly recommend the strawberry shortcake if you go during the summer (because it's a summer exclusive). There are a lot of different donuts to choose from here. We got several different kinds and after sampling them, they don't live up to the hype at all. They are very dry and the ones that are supposed to be cream filled didn't have cream all the way through. I expected to be blown away by them, and I just wasn't. With that being said, there were some that were good. I liked the blueberry cake and Memphis Mafia. My husband liked the apple fritter, and our son liked the chocolate ring. They are overpriced for what they are and aren't really worth it. The inside of the shop is really cute, and the employees were friendly and very helpful. read more

Locals who stopped in while visiting family downtown and 1) AC wasn't working (poor workers) and 2) the man who serviced us Saturday morning was very short and seemed like we were a pester and he had better things to do. I don't believe this man said more than 3 words the entire interaction and made our coffee, handed it to us in silence, grabbed our donuts, handed us the box in silence.
